Of the 8 seats in the shop that's designated for nails they chose to have 2 techs working and side by side (definitely not 6 feet apart) but I didn't say anything about that. 3. My appointment was at 6 and I waited 20 minutes before being seated and then disappointed that she wouldn't wear gloves. 4. Only reason I give a 2 instead of 1 is that they did check for temperatures right at entering. I wasted time and could have gone elsewhere to not get service! I love this spa. I have been going here for about 8 years now and the quality has consistently been amazing. Last week I went in for a fill and it was done by Loy. She did an alright job, but my pinky nail on my left hand broke 5 days after I got them done. I went back in today to get that one nail repaired and I had an amazing experience. I walked right in and there was no wait. Kelvin worked on my nail and did a phenomenal job. It was probably the best service I have ever had anywhere. The lady I got to do my gel manicure pretty much rushed through the whole thing. At one point I saw a black mark on my nail and asked her to fix it - she said it was because I probably rubbed my nail on my shirt by accident. Um what? Then about 4 says later, two of the nail paint started to peel off and then one of my nails broke/cracked halfway and this has NEVER happened to me before from getting my nails done. I don't know what products she used but it was by the worst gel manicure I've gotten. Really disappointed to spend all that money to get a bad experience. Most likely won't be returning. read more

They spend a lot of time cleaning your nails, trimming cuticles, etc. Any manicures and pedicures I get from here last awhile, and I don't have to wait too long for my service. My daughter usually comes with me and gets her nails done too. They are super sweet and patient with her (she's 6) so I appreciate that. The price is reasonable. Had a $15.99 Shellac special = $34.00 manicure (using Shellac BTW) but stating "oh, you used gel" ummm - I believe I can read "S H E L L A C" on the bottle you're using on my nails. 2. Manicure EXTREMELY short! OMG - HORRID! Nails were shorter than fingers, uneven, bumpy and after 1 week, now they are yellow and dingy. 3. Pedicure..... $24.00 on pamphlet = $29.00 out of my pocket. False advertising and just overall terrible experience - on to the next as they say. I just left La Vie with my nails looking worse than when I walked in. I waited for one hour. Kate finally put the foil on my nails to remove my gel color. She then started doing someone else's nails. I sat there with acetone and foil on my nails for so long it was irritating my skin. I just took it off and left. I have been going to La Vie since 2011. That's 7 years of business. I will not be going back. Had anyone explained that there would be a long wait time I would have gladly come back on a different day. There was zero communication from Kate or any other staff member. Love this place and I have been going here for years. They take very good care of you and this is where I go to get pampered from my lashes, which Jennifer does an AWESOME job, to my nails, pedicure and wax. My daughter goes here too and loves it. I went through chemo and they took such good care of me and found work arounds when I was having issues with my nails etc. Jennifer somehow gets my lashes on and they stay beautiful for 3 weeks. My lashes didn't grow back in well after I went through chemo but she found some that are light, stay on and look beautiful. I wouldn't go anywhere else to get pampered. You also need to try their organic pedicure, it's the BEST! LOVE THIS PLACE and highly recommend it! read more

I recently came here and got a full set of gel and a pedicure. The woman who did my pedicure not only cut my toe where it hurts to walk she lifted my pinky toe nail up and now it's about to fall off. Then when getting my full set the lady ask if I want my cuticles cut and I said yes and thought it was odd cause usually any place I go just does them automatically? She then proceeded to tell me she wanted to charge me $5 more to even touch my cuticles?? Uhm No! Also my toes that were painted have a huge gap where it looks like my toes already grew out. I gave this shop 3 tries and I was left disappointed each time. My 1st gel manicure, by Tracy, only lasted 1week before lifting/chipping. My 2nd gel manicure, by Mai, lasted 1 week before lifting. My 3rd gel manicure, by idk (lady with toddler) is so thinly applied that my nails can bend. And it is never 15.99 as advertised on the window. And I dislike needing a translator to communicate in English. 3 strikes and you're out. ...3 days later, my gel manicure was already starting to lift, fast forward to 8 days later: several nails are lifting. read more

Hilarious!! Are u kidding me? That sign they post outside, is just for u to come inside their store. They were trying to up sell everyone who came in. I have been coming here for about 2 years since I've lived in Santee. Prices are good, staff is very nice, and you are offered a complimentary beverage (soda or water). At first look, the work looks great, however the procedure completed which was dip powder on the nails was not applied correctly by the employee and this was clearly indicated when a few days later the nail polish began to chip and eventually whole pieces of nail fell off. When this procedure was previously completed at another nail establishment, the nail polish stayed on for 3 months! It can only be surmised that the application of the dip powder at La Vie was either not applied correctly or materials used such as the base coating or the powder, itself, was defective. This was an expensive procedure even more so than the other nail spot, and this customer won't be returning to La Vie again. read more

I have been trying to come here for the last few years but I am looking for a new salon. They are nice but the work is at best decent. They are always looking to squeeze an extra dollar out of you and frequently try to bend their own rules to do so. Often you will be charged a few dollars more for something like "better powder" unknown to you at the beginning. Yes, they will offer you a drink, and they are very friendly, but look around before coming here, two years later I am still wishy washy about this salon but its really hard to find a good salon. Your nails will not lift, buts that's the only good thing about this place, I often have many hours of filing ahead of me when I get home as the material goes from thick to thin on each nail and the nails are wide no matter how many times I convey I do not like them that way. I have been going to this nail salon for over four years and I absolutely love them. I come every two weeks for my nail fills with Chau and she is by far the best nail girl I have ever had the pleasure of going to! She hand draws anything I can come up with and the prices here are very good. I enjoy the fact that this nail shop is always clean and the air is on when I walk in because if you live in Santee you know how hot it can get! I also go to Tracy for my pedicures every month and I love the fact that she remembers how I like my water temperature and really gives a great massage. I started getting my eyelashes done with Jennifer and it's like everyday I get complaints on how natural and long my eyelashes are! I bring my mom and grandma here all the time for gifts and a ton of people from my work come here.
