This lovely historic location was perfect for my daughter's wedding. We changed the date 3 times during the pandemic, and they were helpful and accommodating throughout. Their bar service and DJ were great, and our outside caterer setup worked just fine. Most of all the attentive, helpful and thoughtful staff made the day perfect. The staff at LaVilla Bella took on the stress and worry of putting together an amazing event. I wanted a GRAND EVENT for my 57th Birthday and the team absolutely CAME THROUGH. For the past 2 years putting together my event thru the pandemic and my last minute move out of the state. The ladies all remained extremely helpful and friendly throughout the process. I always felt that I was in good hands. Just had a great event at La Villa Bella this week. We used all 3 areas of the venue. Susan's staff was very accommodating because we needed so many decorations because of our themed event. They kept making sure everything was the way i wanted or needed it to be. Susan even helped us with the theme by decorating for the event too. She really is an all in event planner. Our over 100 guests really enjoyed the event. The cater she recommended was perfect. Food was delicious and also was themed. We even used the bar service. Everything was a success. The out door area was perfect the grass and the string lights gave it the perfect ambience. I could not wait to look at my pictures. My event was unforgettable for all my guests. I have been to this venue on many time for different functions with the Upland Chamber and for my wife's birthday party and found it to be very intimate and just a nice rustic feel! Susie was and is a fantastic host and did everything she promised! For those looking to throw nice party or have a small wedding I would highly recommend this place! The panicked call I made to Susan on a late Friday night and her return call within the hour spoke volumes to me, my son and Jeanette! Susan explained she had a scheduled event from 12-6 the same day and typically would not agree to a 2nd event, but understood completely the bind we were in and said she would leave the evening available to us and would make it work! From that moment forward Susan, Kim & Shelly answered every call & email with patience and understanding knowing the time constraints we were under! I met Frank (Susan's husband) the day I dropped off the décor, he too greeted me with warmth and kindness and a smile that put me at ease knowing the quick flip between events would be just fine. First and foremost I sincerely would like to thank Susan, Samantha, & Shelly for making my grand-daughters Sweet 16 Party a huge success!! I am not one for hosting events at all ( I was super nervous) but thanks to Susan and the girls they assured me everything would be perfect. To my delight they were right! It was my granddaughter who picked out La Villa Bella from all the other venues as it was elegant & whimsical just as she had invisioned her special day to be. Susan and Shelly helped set up our decorations & even provided their own easle (the one I bought wasn't quite working out lol)! I was so thankful Susan came to the rescue. As the guest showed up they were enamored with La Villa Bella and it's timeless beauty. They mentioned they would consider hosting their next special occasion here! My grandaughter wanted to have Italian food so we chose Impressions Catering from the Preferred Vendor List. The apppetizers, the two different kinds of lemonade, and food was delicious! I wouldn't recommend this location the event staff are rude and dress inappropriate for a wedding event. The soda at the bar was flat and my drink tasted aweful The facility needs a face lift there are stains in the carpet. There is not enough chairs to accomedate the wedding I attended and there was less than 100 people. Only dinner music can be played outside...due to neighbor complaints. By 8 the wedding reception had to be wrapped up because the event staff said the music was too loud. read more

This review is a little late but it's finally here. We had our wedding in December 2014. Finding a venue can be difficult and when it came down to my wedding I honestly thought I was going to go with another choice. When we picked our day for venue shopping I only had two places in mind. One was way out in LA, in the hills and I'll admit, it was beautiful, gorgeous everything you would want for a rustic wedding. Next we came across La Villa Bella - the venue was much closer to home and easier for our guests to get too especially on a Friday night since everyone was pretty much local. When we first arrived, I'll admit I was still eying the LA venue but once I saw the fireplace and the stone walls, I was sold. Then after seeing pictures of what the place looks like during Christmas I was stunned. I always felt that when you read bad reviews on yelp you have to look at the overall picture. There are hundreds of tiny details that go into a wedding that sometimes guests ignore. First off I have to say, I absolutely loved La Villa Bella and the staff. The stone walls, the fireplace, the holiday décor, the gardens - everything is just perfect. When I saw some bad reviews after booking our venue, I'll admit... I was worried but there are so many details that go into a wedding that sometimes guests forget. The staff; Susan, Austin, Dave, Cody - everyone, they were a dream to work with. I couldn't have been more happy with how everything turned out. Any requests I had, they were there. They made sure everything ran smoothly and Susan saw my vision for the décor. She is extremely flexible and out of all days, in this California drought, the storm of the century decided to rain on our wedding day. I'll admit, I was panicked but when it comes to weather you can't be upset over it. There is absolutely nothing you can do to get the clouds to move, you just have to work with it. We originally planned on getting married outside right in front of the gorgeous fireplace but since the rain decided to come join us, we had plan B ready to go for the indoor ceremony. I wasn't thrilled about it at first but I knew everything happened for a reason. The ceremony was perfect and intimate. Our final guest count came out to about 92 which was perfect for an indoor ceremony and reception. The Christmas décor was everything I wanted for a December wedding. Now for the logistics; the bar. Dave the bartender was great. All of our guests loved him and there were absolutely no complaints. The great thing about this venue is that you have the choice of BYOB. If you choose to do beer and wine, then YOU the host provides the drinks and if you have a thorough conversation with Dave, he'll tell you exactly how much to get. You, the host know your guests more than anyone else. If you have 80% beer drinkers, then have enough for those people. It's not the bartender's fault if drinks run out before the event ends. If you aren't sure how much to get even after having a conversation with Dave then you can always go on the bev-mo website and you plug in the numbers and it will let you know how much to get. During the cocktail hour, I was told by my husband that the staff told him how much alcohol was left so we were well aware of whether or not we needed to go get more. I was more than thrilled with how our wedding turned out. From what I know of, updates have been made inside the stone room. The carpet was pretty dated but now there is beautiful wood floors that give the room an even more rustic feel. Months after our wedding and I still get tons of compliments on the venue. The place is gorgeous, the staff is decent, however I would not recommend or rent this place ever again, not only did my guest feel like they were babysat, every time you turned your cheek they were behind you! Horror movie if you will! Controlling is an understatement, they insisted on cutting the cake I thought how thoughtful, only to find out from my guest that they were given ridiculous small amounts of cake, then we ordered catering from the Italian place they recommended which they served my guest only two meat balls per plate? Didn't even smile at our guest! Beautiful place but these ppl should not be hosting party's they need to be investigators or work for the police enforce, I felt like a nagging grandma was behind me & my poor guest the whole time, thank God we didn't drink or order the bar forget about it! My sweet 16 (my daughter) was changing in the "dressing room" when the owner lady tries to rush in! My daughter screamed and said were changing! She still helped herself in and said It's just me! my daughter felt so bothered by this "no privacy" she was like mom we shouldn't have had it here! her little face was so sad! Not worth the money! Very Pricy to have a horrible time. The workers need to ease up! They complained about our sparkle candles, you can't have glitter & sparkles for a party??!! Come on! This was supposed to be a beautiful memory that unfortunately was not pleasant at all! From my guest complaints to my own daughter! I have now been to several different events, some themed and others not, and every time I am impressed at not only the beauty of the location and great detail displayed for event, but also how smoothly everything has gone. I live in Upland and I have been fortunate enough to have been to several events at this location. I had attended an indoor breakfast for a holiday event and everything was decorated and arranged so beautifully. But the best event was the outdoor dinner I attended. The ambience is so great with the big trees and the mountains and the charm of the historic building. I hope someone I know has another event here soon I can't wait to go back. read more

I would not recommend this venue. I host several events, and I was looking for an indoor venue space to host my baby shower. The room with the windows is really quant and was a perfect size for a small shower, however the other room with carpet looks horrible very dirty and dingy I don't understand why they didn't do hardwood flooring through out. The staff are very rude and controlling, barely gave my decorator any time to set up. They rush you out at the end of your event so rudely, giving you no time to break down your event and load things in your car. I had my shower at 1pm and the room temp said 86 degrees! I'm 8 months pregnant and was sweating and so hot! My guests were hot too! When asked to lower the air the staff wouldn't. This place is not cheap! You pay inflated prices for this venue. I wasn't able to book other venues I wanted and this venue was available so I went with it, despite price. I excepted to be nice and cool indoors on this hot summer day, for the price I paid. I thought the venue would be nice and cool and accommodating but they are not, they act like they will be put when it comes down to it they are not. This place is so beautiful! I especially love all the rock work and the outside fireplace. I highly recommend this place for any type of event, weddings, company parties, birthdays etc. The owner pays special attention to details making every event special. The indoor/out door area is a great way to use both spaces, they flow together very nicely giving guests a chance to enjoy either one. I would highly recommend La Villa Bella for any festive event. The staff treated us as valued clients, and that was almost as important as the suitability of the space itself. I hosted my mom's 80th birthday party at La Villa Bella in December, and it was a delightful event. The venue was perfect for our 40 guests (but we could have had more in their space with no problem). The room where we had the tables set up is walled with river rocks on two sides and has beautiful windows on the other sides - so it had lots of outside light coming in, yet we were inside and warm. We showed a slideshow of old photos, which showed up nicely on their projection screen, even though there was outside light in the room. It was important to us that we could decorate for a birthday, even though it was during the Christmas season. La Villa Bella's staff had put up beautiful yet subtle Christmas decorations which served as an elegant backdrop to our party decorations. In preparation for the party, Marcel helped me choose the perfect color of linens to set off my party color scheme and blend nicely with the room decor. Susan and Jacob were onsite during the entire party, there to make any quick rearranging of the setup that we might need, and making sure everything was in order. Jacob was extremely helpful throughout the party, even assisting in serving cake to elderly guests who had trouble carrying the plates themselves. He also rigged up a creative way for us to transport our leftover cake in the oversized bakery box so that it would not slide around in transit. After the party, I got many compliments from guests on the beauty of the venue, as well as the ease of finding it and the ample parking. read more

I attended a wedding this past Sunday at this venue, so my review is based on a guest perspective only. The location is beautiful from outside. Inside the carpet needs to be cleaned. The staff was quite rude and unorganized. Wedding was scheduled for 3pm, and the ceremony was inside and reception outside. When we arrived with my grandma who is in a wheelchair, we parked and were greeted by staff telling us we could not park in the space we choose because the 1 handicap spot was taken. We told them the situation and that my grandma was the mother of the groom. Staff was not any nicer, just more inconsiderate. 150 guests were expected good thing less showed up because they waited until the ceremony was over to move the chairs outside for guests to be seated. The rude bartender served water in small glasses and mixed drinks with flat soda. To top that off, they ran out of beer at 7, even though the wedding was to end at 9. The very rude coordinator told our DJ he had to change music to low dinner music because a neighbor called the police at 8pm. Really? There is a noise ordinance that starts at 10pm. I checked with Upland PD on Monday. She kept saying she wasn't going to risk her business, then don't allow weddings on a Sunday! Her staff was asking guests if they brought their own alcohol. I think she should worry about her boyfriend walking around trying to promote his cigar business to guests. She needs to take a class in customer service and event planning! read more
