When we recently dined in at the restaurant and we were given our what appeared to be brand new menus we placed our orders. The waitress was very nice and polite, we then received our orders, ate our meals, and then received our bill. We ordered two entrees and one soda. Our bill was for more than the listed prices on the menu. When we asked the waitress about it she said she didn't know why there was a price difference. She went and got who we assumed was a manager, who then said that prices had increased two days prior to our dining that evening! However nowhere in the restaurant or on our menus did it state anything about a price increase. Needless to say we were we not treated very nicely by the gentleman and we will not be dining at the restaurant again. read more

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I've always spoken highly of this place to friends in the area. If anyone I know is driving through Hollister, I'm eager to tell them about my "hole in the wall" spot with the best tortillas you've ever tasted. The food has never disappointed, the service was always friendly, and the ambiance welcoming and quaint. After a day of wine tasting in San Benito County, all I had on my mind was this burrito. I hyped up my friends and they were in. When we arrived, the place was at about 50% capacity. Not atypical. We sat down and were greeted fairly quickly and given a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa here is always delicious and I love that a few avocados seem to always make it in there somehow. Random... but delicious. After ordering our food, things seemed to take a really long time. Then food was brought out at different times and part of our party was halfway through their meal before the last plates arrived. We were a party of 5 so, not too big of a party and our orders were uncomplicated; a couple of burritos and some enchiladas plates. I can confirm that the burrito is still stellar. The tortilla tastes homemade (but I can't confirm for sure) and the fillings all seasoned and wrapped perfectly. The enchiladas though left something to be desired. They were lightly filled and the corn tortilla didn't have great flavor on its own. Not bad but not great. The rice was very dry and was the most disappointing thing on the dish. The beans were good but over-macerated and also overdone. Service this time was lackluster. We rarely saw our server and he seemed stand-offish for some reason. Maybe he's new? Overall, I'm still giving this place a 4 out of 5. Maybe this experience deserves closer to a 3 but I can't go there just yet. This could have been an off day and I'll still come back and try again. If this is their new normal though, that will truly be a letdown. read more

Ambience was marginal, food was mediocre and while authentic, lacked proper seasoning and therefore ended up tasting very bland. Beef fajitas utilized very poor quality beef that was tough and not flavorful. Chile rellenos were fluffy and I was hopeful, but in the end they lacked flavor and in fact contained so many seeds that some bites packed a LOT of heat. This was my second time visiting and let me just say.... Best burritos ever!!! The tortilla is SO FRESH. I ordered a chicken super burrito with the sour cream on the side. Service here is attentive, quick, and friendly. They offer complimentary chips and salsa which is always nice when you are waiting for your main dish. Liked the avocado chunks in the salsa. Got a chile verde ($15). Great tortillas, super tender and flavorful pork. Rice and beans were meh. Loved their hot sauce (the non-tapatio one that comes in a little salsa bowl). Lots of parking, good atmosphere, good service. Definitely 100% recommend! read more

Decided to check this place out for lunch. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday but it was in a small town so I'm not completely surprised. We got the fajitas which is what this place is known for and got the fish and shrimp version. It comes with rice, beans, guacamole and salad and some tortilla. Overall, the flavor was there and it tasted pretty good. Price was standard for the dish. I wouldn't say it can feed 2 people fully, you definitely need a small appetizer to go with it What I find amusing and nice was the free chips and salsa they gave us had avocado in the salsa :) My husband loves avocado and they always charge extra in Washington so he absolutely love finding chunks of avocados in the salsa. 2 words bad cheese!!! I'm currently writing this review sitting on the toilet while holding a trash can because it's coming out of both sides!! We eat here quite a bit and have never had any issues until now. Unfortunately my 2 daughters, wife and I all had food with cheese and now we're all feeling sick! I told the staff and they immediately removed the food but the damage was already done. Hopefully it's just and upset stomach and not food poisoning. I ordered the Wet burrito (Chile verde) and it was so freaking good. Only thing i thought was maybe they could have added more sauce ? I love salsa So to me it didn't do it. The flavor was their. FORSURE. They were a bit tiny, which i thought it was odd. Also I did think that it may be a little pricy. We got two wet burritos, the taco and rice and bean and it came out to 38. Many friends have recommended this place for their CHORIZO witch is DELICIOUS!! Is Jerez Zacatecas Mexico recipe and taste like it too. The restaurant is kinda small to medium size so is crowded, owner came and shacks hand very humble and friendly just like the People from Zacatecas. Stopped in Hollister during a trip to Pinnacles National Park and chose La Villa de Jerez because my family is from the same rancho in Mexico. Food: Pork Chile Verde, Fajitas de res, flautas de pollo. All serving sizes were generous and well-priced. Chile Verde was AMAZING. The flavor of the sauce immediately took me home. The pork was beautifully tender. Served with homemade corn tortillas. I would highly recommend. Fajitas were also delicious. Sizzling when served and with a good amount of vegetables. Very good and would also recommend. Flautas were overall good -- a basic dish and the chicken wasn't as seasoned as the pork or beef. Enjoyable but not as good as the other items. Ambiance: a cute, clean space with callbacks to Jerez in decor. The bathroom is clean, although located right behind the bar. There's plenty of space for distancing. Drink choices are lacking -- sodas or water were the only options. BUT they also sell fresh chorizo in 2lb packs!! For $12 too. I haven't tried the chorizo yet. Located awkwardly behind the San Benito Cannery, and cat cornered to the 99 cent and up store, be aware that parking is always limited. Especially on the weekends. Though the seating arrangement is not large, it is often packed when Menudo and tamales are on the menu. The tortillas are homemade (make sure you ask for them otherwise the flavor experience just won't be the same. It's a .50 charge, but worth it.) They have good service and are often quick. They even offer the opportunity for to-go orders if you don't have the time to stay and eat. This place is definitely a town favorite and has just the amount of variety you would need to please your inner foodie. Do yourself a favor and stop by for some delicious carne asada tacos or a nice 'n spicy, steamy bowl of menudo. Your taste buds will thank you!! read more
