My boyfriend brought me here from out of town. This used to be his favorite spot growing up and let me just say I will be dreaming about this quesadilla for a long time from now on. I've been coming here since the building said Baja burger--before it burned down. Of course they rebuilt it. The tacos are always on point although the chicken is very salty. Carnitas are hit and miss depending on whether they drain the oil properly. Their pickled carrots are the best I always ask for extra even though it cost a little more. read more

this place used to be really good but its really gone downhill the last year ive been here, my order is messed up more than half the time and the ingredients seem to be getting cheaper while the food gets more expensive. $40 for 2 burritos and chips and salsa today and it was 70% beans in my burritos and the salsa tasted like it was fresh out of a jar. super disappointed read more

We stopped in here on a whim not wanting to drive all the way into Hollister to find a place to eat cuz we were all hungry now! This place looks like your typical Taqueria inside and out. Pictures of food on the wall etc. Three of us each ordered something different so we could share. Everything we got was on point. Husband got the chili Relleno plate and said it was very good with lots of cheese and a really tasty sauce, I tried the sauce and it was excellent. My friend got a lengua quesadilla, I tried this and it was delicious. Packed with very soft lengua and cheese with salad and sour cream on top, she liked that too. I got flautas Pollo. 3 nice and crispy flautas in corn tortillas with moist chicken inside. I got some menudo to go and it was really good. We all opted for no rice just beans which were very good. They have a few different types of salsa available the 3 we tried were pretty good. I like that they have fountain drinks too. Even though English the second language here you'll have no problem ordering. Everyone here was very friendly especially the chef behind the counter. We'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu. read more

This place is my absolute favorite I drove 500 miles or more to be here in my hometown and I absolutely have to have the Carnitas tacos or chicken. everything here on the menu is made fresh to order. I've been going here for over 10 years and they have been consistent. pretty good price if they have gone up in the last two years but they have to be competitive. I got chicken tacos about two dollars each. This is my family favorite place to go. I even got my boyfriend over here and he's really addicted to it just as much as I am. They play n have good music but it loud, when I go in there it's all Mexican music I don't know what it's saying but they always have a full house and they're able to do to go orders is what you would expect to be when you go to Hollister. read more

Their food is way over priced. We used to go there all the time. I got 5 breakfast Burritos and one can of coke and it was $65 dollars. They went from $7 dollars to $10:99. each. HORRIBLE. First of all, one of the cooks saw us about to walk in and he closed the door right in our face. Second, as I sat down a piece of glass went through the back of my thigh making a deep cut. My first reaction was to touch were I felt pain and another piece pierced through my finger. I was legit gushing out blood from my thigh. My sister in law told them I was cut from a broken glass left on their seats and they just said 'oh'. And continued working. They didn't offer any help, and the women taking orders was just mugging us. I can't believe their lack of concern. ---- We had to ask them THREE times for a first aid kit. and they handed over some old bandages and hydrogen peroxide. Since we moved to Hollister in Oct we've been a few times and we've really enjoyed it. It had been a while and today we decided to give it a go again. The food was good but we can't believe they charge $14 for a burrito!!! That's the cost of a sit down meal.. this is Mexican fast food. Their tacos are small, and I can't deny the lengua is really good, but the size isn't worth $4 IMO. Perhaps they are under new ownership? Also, if you use your card there will be a 4% charge too. We're a family of four and I'm sad to say we won't be back. This review is strictly based on their prices. Ill start off by saying the food is good... but the prices here are ridiculous. It cost me $45 to buy two burritos and a quesadilla (no drinks). Were talking about a taqueria here. This is not some 5 star restaurant by any means. The lady at the register is very rude. She complains any time you ask for lemon or salsa. And on top of that tries to charge you more to get it. I know prices have some what gone up but $15 burritos are a joke. I will not be going here anymore. Anyone who wants a decent price burrito go down about a half mile on the same road to Los Grullense. They are a bit cheaper and never complain when you ask for a side of salsa lol. FINALLY! Since I moved out here, I've been on a quest to find a go-to, authentic Mexican joint. I lament its distance from where I actually live, but I work in Hollister frequently so it works out. I had the carne asada super burrito and it was MONEY. Up until this point, I've found that so many places cram their burritos full of beans, to where the beans are actually the star of the burrito. In the world I live in, it's all about balance, and the beans are meant to be an afterthought. This place NAILS the ratio of contents, and I'm very thrilled to try more stuff here. The carne asada itself was delicious. It has great flavor, and it's so tender it damn near melts in your mouth. The green sauce is FIRE (more figurative than literal, but it does have a little kick to it). It has an incredible smoky note to it that brings so much to the plate. It's apparent that this sauce is not just a flavorless heartless representation, but rather it shows that this place pulls out all the tricks to make a pleasurable eating experience. I love this place. I always get the lengua tacos and they never disappoint. The agua de horchata is so good, a bit sweet for my taste but I just let it sit in ice so it waters down a bit. The customer service is good, they're very polite, always fast. I've been here a few times now and its my go-to when I'm craving a tacos but don't want to make my own. They have these delicious pickled carrots that come with the tacos that I LOVE and their salsa is perfect, like a real Mexican salsa, not watery like most places. read more

This is the go-to authentic taco spot when I'm in the area. Their tacos are pretty great, and they are one of the few places that have sopes, but the true gem are the burritos!! The sopes are hit or miss, as I've had them a few times, but they are hard to come by so I always give them another chance, but last night I took a gamble with the regular carne asada burrito and was blown away!! The beans and rice balanced out the meat, and the flavor took over in your mouth. I devoured it quickly. I had a taco on the side too, but I got a plain carne asada taco and it was not as spectacular as the burrito. If you're a big salsa fan, I suggest trying the tacos with extra red salsa, you won't be disappointed. I have big taco expectations, but this place gets pretty close to those. My trip to Pinnacles National Monument took me right past this place. It looks like it used to be a dry cleaner, now converted to a taqueria window where you can get food to go or eat at the counter around the outside of the building. There's nothing vegetarian listed on the menu, so I asked for bean tacos, which were great. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The carrot pickle and the salsa in particular were good. My dining companion thought his cabeza burrito was top notch. Not a criticism but you should know if you are a strict vegetarian, this might not be the place for you - I opted for a don't ask don't tell approach to whether the beans are cooked in lard, but the full flavor left me with suspicions. read more

Carne asada tacos were the least flavorful taco I've ever tasted. Meat seemed steamed and powdery versus any char or spice, even salt. Beans were some version of a cheap can of refried, and the husbands El Pastor burrito, one bite and he sadly couldn't finish chewing. Cheese quesadilla was $7, semi burnt and cut into squares. We'll chalk it up to possibly getting back into the grind of business. Husband said there was a line and it was busy so there are folks who love their food.
