It's good to see that they appear to be reviving their image and going stronger than ever. Thanks to their recent activity on social media I feel that more locals are starting to revisit this Mission Valley gem...not just tourists who happen to be staying at The Kings Inn hotel they're connected to. They now offer lunch and dinner (not just at the Amigo Spot next door--who now has a happy hour at 4:00, which is awesome), we will definitely return to try that out next time! Their breakfast here is solid and better than ever! You can't go wrong with their famous churro waffle, which is sinfully delicious! My eggs were cooked perfectly and our sausage links were plump and flavorful. Their kids menu is great as well, any item for $9.95 makes it easy and a definite win no matter what your kiddos choose. Service was warm and welcoming. Both our server and busser were friendly and attentive as well. My son was excited when he recognized the busser from the last time we were here (last summer); when the nice gentleman acknowledged my son he said to me, "See mama, I remembered he was so nice, like last time." Keep up the good work Waffle Spot staff and social media team...you're doing it right! We will definitely be back soon and reminding our friends and family not to sleep on the Mission Valley gem!

The price for the food and the drinks is unbeatable for how good the food and drinks are. The service is spectacular they're always attentive and make sure everything is going just fine, as for the atmosphere and overall restaurant vibe it's very calm with a nice elegant feel to it even tho it's a small eating area, the presentation of food and drinks is amazing I love the theme they're going with, and not to mention you're also near by the beach I absolutely love this place and I always keep coming back, if you're looking for a lowkey brunch spot with amazing food, drinks, and service this is the spot. The omelette with frijoles and potatoes was great. *The mango mimosas were good. *The café de Olla was natural. It was average. *They gave you a piece of pumpkin bread before you eat while you're waiting for your food. *The restaurant was clean with a small Catholic feel to it. *Parking outside was OK. Bad: * Very small café not good for large group parties. * A bit more pricey for the quality of food and drinks. * They prefer USD dollars or card. Conclusions: Due to the great services we were provided by the waiter, and if we're ever back in La Playas for breakfast or brunch, we would go back to San Miguel restaurant. I will highly recommend you try it.

I'm a huge fan of trying new pancakes and Family House delivered. The pancakes are fluffy, and the sizes are perfect. My pancakes came with my country scramble which was equally delicious. I just had to upgrade a bit from buttermilk to buckwheat. The meal was very filling, it kept me satisfied all the way to dinner almost. The Family House of Pancakes is very busy and has a lot of patrons. It's a community hub and rightfully so. Staff are attentive and polite, we were checked on regularly despite the sheer amount of visitors. My family took my Grandpa out to eat here and we were still able to hold a conversation, it wasn't overly loud. I felt super comfortable. FHOP has booths and tables across the restaurant. Walking is tight as everything seems close to eachother. A bar/counter is also available for smaller parties. We waited 15 mins to be seated, there's a speaker in front of the restaurant to alert you when you're called. The wait felt like a breeze.

They are known for their very large portions and this being my first visit I can confirm that is true. There is also a large free parking lot in the back so parking was really easy. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table for 4 when we arrived around 10AM Sunday morning. Inside was packed and every table was taken, but our food came out surprisingly fast. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of options on it. They have everything from American to Mexican classics as well as pancakes and waffles and everything in between. It's the sort of place that young people and old can find something. I would call it more of a country kitchen versus a diner and they have inside seating only. For this visit I chose the Chorizo Omelette and really enjoyed it. It came with a ton of meat and a large fruit side. They could definitely use a little bit of refurbishment on the inside, but the food quality was very good and the pricing was fair. I would recommend if you are in the area.

The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served. Coffee and overall service here, was mucho excellente.
