The place was packed on a Friday morning--the day before the Fourth of July--but we lucked out and grabbed a table between the breakfast rushes after only about a 10-minute wait. The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the warm, homey atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the menu offered a great variety, from creative specialty waffles to classic diner favorites. We'd definitely come back! Also I like hello kitty

Always a delicious delight, huge menu and parking. Terrific price point, very fair and reasonable. Staff is friendly and they all work the room, they all help you.

Another great breakfast spot in San Diego! Service was quick, people were kind and seemed really happy at work. I like when people look like they enjoy working. It was clean and cute decor. I enjoyed my waffle and bacon. I can go with no eggs next time. I'm not in the area often but I'd go again if out there. Prices are fair and food is good.

I reallyy wanted to like this place more. The food looked good when it came out, but everything was pretty dry. My waffle looked amazing in the moment, but it ended up being dry and the Oreo pieces were stale. The sausage was also dry. The eggs were the only thing I really liked. They were just simple over medium eggs and they were cooked fine. The vibe is super casual and feels like a classic little diner. The service was honestly the best part. It feels like a family owned spot and they kept checking on us which was really nice. Overall it was alright. Not terrible but not something I'd rush back to. The service was great but the food just didn't hit.

My strawberry waffle was ok but the strawberries was soggy, seems old. The hash brown was ok but tiny size, hot chocolate was good. Hubby had pancakes, eggs and sausage.

Man! We stumbled across this place after dropping our kiddo off at school and it was a pleasant surprise! The hangover was fresh, gravy was amazing and homemade. My wife had the strawberry waffle and she said the strawberries were fresh and tasteful and the whip cream was definitely homemade. Our server was funny and definitely personable! We will for sure be back to try more!

This place really deserves better than the 3.9 rating it has. I went at 11 p.m. on a busy Saturday, took 10 minute to seat our party of 5 (+1 Baby). Service was very fast; whoever the guy with all the tattoo's is, is super duper nice and thorough. Food came out before I could sip my orange juice twice! Even just the plain pancakes are to die for; a sign of a quality breakfast place. I got the meatlovers omelette; my friends got various incarnations of waffles, omelette's, sausages, eggs benedict, and country fried steak! Coffee and drink refills were frequent and the staff is very nice and accomodating. Great spot for a weekend meal!

The service was friendly and the coffee promptly refilled. The food served hot and so quickly that I took my time to enjoy my breakfast experience. Similar service at the other location called Kamilas in Clairemont Mesa. I'll come back to both when craving breakfast.

Country Waffles is always reliable for breakfast or brunch, with different specials, open lot parking, and an extensive menu. They offer meatless options, ADA friendly entrances and both booth and tables. The staff is always friendly and prompt with coffee refills and service. Most menu items have calories listed, and the portions are generous. Their cinnamon roll french toast, burritos, and breakfast combos in particular are well made.

Their waffles and pancakes were delicious! Shout out to their amazing staff as well. They were so welcoming and each and everyone one of them made sure to always check in with our table- whether it be asking if we want refills on coffee, taking empty plates, and any other needs we had. Definitely recommend!

Bacon was hard to eat, waffles were to die for, service was decent, ambiance was underwhelming, very loud and open diner ascetic.

The moment you step inside, the bi-level space makes a striking impression with its mid-century accents, exposed brick, and warm, moody lighting. It manages to balance a lively, energetic atmosphere with an effortless chicness that feels tailored for a memorable night out. The happy hour here is an absolute standout, featuring an expansive array of creative food options and crafted drinks. The menu brings an inventive Asian fusion twist to bar bites, offering flavor-forward small plates that pair seamlessly with the beverage program. The drinks deserve equal applause: the craft cocktails are meticulously balanced, and the signature ube-inspired cocktails are as vibrant and distinct as they are delicious. Adding to the venue's overall charm is the live music program. Catching live jazz, soul, and blues sets elevates the entire experience from a simple dinner run into a full sensory event. The music creates a vibrant, soulful backdrop without overpowering table conversation, striking just the right rhythm for intimate catch-ups or energetic group gatherings. Whether you are dropping in for a quick drink, indulging in a multi-dish happy hour spread, or lingering late for the live tunes and exceptional cocktails, Books & Records captures everything that makes CS Hospitality's concepts so special. It is a stylish, fun, and flavorful addition to San Diego's dining scene.

Thank goodness there was room too, because wow oh wow. It has been three weeks and we keep talking about that happy hour. LOL I appreciated that their happy hour menu wasn't all snackable appetizers; there were smaller-sized dishes for those less hungry, too! I ordered the Kiwilango slider + fries, my mom got the HH fish & chips, and my dad got the wagyu smash slider. Plus $10 beers, of course. Everything came out quickly and beautifully portioned, which made getting dessert (magpie ice cream cake) a no brainer. Delicious!!! I didn't stray into their full Kiwi-based dinner menu, but I can fully vouch for their happy hour, the cozy, charming vibes, kind and attentive servers, and flavorful dishes. Would absolutely recommend and will be coming back next time I'm in town!

The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and everything tasted fresh. The only issue was that there were several flies around our booth inside that kept landing near and getting into our food, so we constantly had to shoo them away. Hopefully, they can address that because otherwise, we had a good experience and enjoyed the food!
