You need to stop by... I'm so happy my friend introduced me to this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and spacious. We were seated right away and the service was absolutely impeccable. The menu may be small, but it offers plenty of great entrée options. My friend ordered the blueberry waffle with eggs over easy and bacon, and I chose the BLTA on a croissant with fries. Every bite was delicious, we truly enjoyed it all. What impressed me most was the incredible teamwork throughout our visit. There were at least five employees who consistently anticipated our needs. We never had to ask, search for, or flag anyone down, everything was handled seamlessly. Before leaving, I made sure to speak with the manager to let him know just how wonderful his crew is. This place really deserves better than the 3.9 rating it has. I went at 11 p.m. on a busy Saturday, took 10 minute to seat our party of 5 (+1 Baby). Service was very fast; whoever the guy with all the tattoo's is, is super duper nice and thorough. Food came out before I could sip my orange juice twice! I reallyy wanted to like this place more. The food looked good when it came out, but everything was pretty dry. My waffle looked amazing in the moment, but it ended up being dry and the Oreo pieces were stale. The sausage was also dry. The eggs were the only thing I really liked. They were just simple over medium eggs and they were cooked fine. The vibe is super casual and feels like a classic little diner. The service was honestly the best part. It feels like a family owned spot and they kept checking on us which was really nice. Overall it was alright. Not terrible but not something I'd rush back to. Normally it is a positive experience, today I was chastised for bringing in an avocado to have with my breakfast. I was told "no outside food or drinks". It's a valid point. I just couldn't get over the manner in which it was addressed (in front of my family) and over an avocado. You will not "lose business" over an avocado that btw you already charge too much for. But you have lost this customer. Hope your delivery (and loss of $3 for an avocado) was worth it. read more

Wow, I wasn't expecting this gem. One of the guys who works for me recommended it, so we did a group outing of six here to eat. I forgot the gentleman who was our server, but he was blisteringly fast with his service. Bang soda or water empty, bang refilled. The food came out piping hot the portions were huge I had the Bacon platter, did I mention the portions were huge everybody at my table had the big belly walk after we left. I ordered their cheeseburger with fries. Although it is not the Buford, still tasted much better than McDonald's, Carl's even Burger Lounge. Their fries were very good. Hot and crispy. Alex was my server. I requested if possible to rush my order since I had less than an hour for lunch. He said he'd try and he delivered. I was out in time to start work. Called for a to-go over at that place and they had the food ready in about 10 minutes. The servers were ready to assist and really nice and helpful. There is a good amount of tables in the restaurant and it didn't seem too busy around lunch time but I would assume breakfast would be a little more crowded. It was very diner- like on the inside. My coworkers and I got scrambles. I got The Joe with egg whites which were extra and my coworker got the Farmer with regular eggs. The menu is expansive with different flavors/ options for everyone. My scramble was hearty, not too greasy, but could've used a little more flavor, which could've been because it was egg whites. Both scrambles came with a side of a half waffle which I had to get being that the restaurant was called Country Waffles. The waffle was fluffy and delicious and came with both whipped butter and syrup. The combination of the butter and the syrup was so good. You've got to love the hot coffee which the attentive wait staff refill as often as you want. Someone is always walking around asking if you want more water or coffee. Food was solid. Chocolate milk wasnt overly sweet. But had enough chocolate to be ok. They gave no reason on the paper on the door, they recommended their other restaurant which is a different name I cannot remember. So I tried again today. I got there at 1:45 the neon sign said open but they locked the doors and turned off the neon sign before I got to the door. Screw country waffle. Now you could not pay me to eat there. Been here several times already, don't know how I keep forgetting to leave a review, this place is wonderful! We're locals born and bred, you know all about the old country waffles and the original ones and over the years it's been hard to except the changes. However change is not always bad and it's easier to be adaptable to your surroundings and remember the good Ole times and blend it with the new. It's exceedingly hard enough to find great breakfast places that can accommodate all, be affordable and be delicious. That's here!! We've come here with our little family, we come here for a quick breakfast date away from our kids, and it never disappoints. The menu has made changes, and it's added it's own flavor of something new while still keeping the original plates....if that makes any sense.... make your own interpretation haha. The staff, are just joyous and wonderful. Accommodating, friendly and I love having conversations with them with random things gnat make your day better. I love that this place always leaves me smiling coming in and leaving. The atmosphere is very open, can accommodate large parties, and the littles. Clean floors and equipment easy to see kitchen and food comes out quick, fresh and hot. They offer daily specials which is always a nice adventure to try and I love LOVE that they are open to suggestions and messaging changes to see what sparks the interest in the community. So that completed the 5 star review. I can't express enough how much we value the customer service, the love and conversations to get to know our servers and the folks. This is the spot! I wish I took a photo of my meal but the plate was cleaner empty before I could think to snap a pic. I ordered the all star meal that included 2 eggs, 2 big pieces of linguiça sausage, a whole heap of breakfast potatoes, and a half waffle. Great portion for a hungry man. $17 for this was a fair price for San Diego. $4 for a simple cup of coffee was a little steep though. The server, Victor was incredibly nice and had the most welcoming smile and attitude. Absolutely brightened the morning. The restaurant itself however, could use a little personality. Did not give off much character or charm but that's ok honestly. My only other thought is that the menu is over complicated and all over the place. Got this randomly for delivery one day and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality! I got their Strawberry Waffle and Florentine Eggs Benedict with avocado. My biggest critique was that the hollandaise sauce came on the eggs benedict and all over the avocado. The sauce should be something that the customer puts on themselves so that the biscuit doesn't get soggy. Thankfully, mine didn't get too soggy, but I wish the avocado hadn't been completed covered with it either. I honestly don't remember if the waffle came with the syrup already on it, but I think it did too, which isn't what they should do. Kind of disappointed that a place called Country Waffles serves waffles that are barely a step up from frozen Eggo waffles. I ordered the strawberry waffles with whipped cream (as advertised on the menu), and there's no way this was whipped cream because it kept its shape and didn't melt throughout my whole meal, it tasted like cool whip or something. The waffle on its own wasn't very flavorful, and the strawberries were very mid. Eggs and sausage were fine. Coffee was fine. Atmosphere was fine. I should really write a review on Country Waffles. Country Waffles is 22 year old branch of a Northern California based Country Waffles Breakfast & Lunch. They moved into the Clairemont Mesa Blvd location from Point Loma in January 2023. I have gone several times to eat. I feel like it is more "fast casual" atmosphere. Service is friendly and efficient. My faves? - Nutella, Strawberry, & Banana Waffle - Caramel, Banana & Pecan Waffle I definitely have a sweet tooth!
