Not sure why lab Corp tells you to use the self check in counter, there have been multiple times where I've had an appointment, self checked in, and don't get called until I go up to the desk and ask why I'm not getting called. Today was no different. Arrived at 4:15 for a 4:30 appointment. Did the self check in. Nothing. Finally went up to the desk at 4:40 and I'm asked if I got called up. No I did not. Finally once I go up they call us back to get blood draw. The phlebotomist was very kind and patient with my son (he was getting the blood draw today) so 5 stars for her, but the check in process needs a major overhaul.

I had to visit a Labcorp facility to get bloodwork for my annual physical. I have been to a few other locations near my home which were fine, but this location was the only one that had an open appointment within the next few days so I came here. Their website for booking an appointment is slick and shows all available times at any of their locations so you can easily pick a time and location that is convenient for you. I had an 8:15am appointment and checked in at 8:13am from my car and then walked in. My jaw fell to the floor when I walked in and the large waiting area was 110% occupied by at least 50+ people sitting in all the chairs and standing around in any free space that was available. For so many people in the room, it was relatively calm and not loud. The facility is modern and very clean. As soon as the front door opened for me to enter, I heard one of the receptionists calling my name so I walked right up and gave her my lab orders and then stood against the wall to wait for my turn. I only had to wait about six or seven minutes and then I was called back. Each side of the back area has a long row of about ten partitioned off areas for blood draws. The tech that did mine was very friendly and we chit chatted for the few minutes it took. On the way out I made a quick stop by the restroom, which was also very clean, to leave a sample and I was on my way. This is a nice clean facility and I was in and out in about 15 minutes even though the waiting room was packed. BE SURE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! If you come as a walk-in, you'll probably be waiting for hours.

I've been to this Labcorp location twice now and although I don't enjoy getting my blood drawn, I no longer have a sense of complete dread because both of the phlebotomists here are VERY good at what they do! Even with my small veins that dive for cover, they have found them and been able to poke them on the first try without having to "dig" ( just the thought of digging for my veins makes me queasy ) The technicians are friendly, professional, confident, and excellent at what they do. The front desk staff is also friendly and efficient.

As a patient, I believed I was booking the correct service. Because of this, I spent money on Uber, lost time, and had to return the next day. I also don't understand why I couldn't be accommodated when I was already there before 3:00 p.m. and a urine drug screen is a relatively quick test. Even if it wasn't possible, I would appreciate clearer scheduling instructions so other patients don't experience the same issue. I was talking with Lily but even then i had asked her to squeeze me in at 2:55pm, she said they're not able to and i have to come back for a courtesy appointment the next day. I'm extremely upset with this situation. I've been going twice in the same clinic achieving nothing overall!

Unfortunately, what they lack ends up a longer list. The first MA was unable to get a vial of blood and said someone else would try on my other arm with a straight needed (vs butterfly). She left me without even putting a bandaid on the arm she poked and I had to struggle to put the bandaid on one handed while still maintaining pressure on it. Next MA comes and draws blood and when she's done she yelps I don't have a cotton ball (to put on the vein she just drew out of) and my blood is just pooling while she puts a bandaid on. Luckily I'm well versed enough to know I needed to put pressure on my bandaid. The NP who saw me was new to (per the MA) she really didn't put my mind at ease. Her expertise and knowledge seemed lacking based on the answers to my questions. First thing she asked me was, why are you here and not the ER? I told her my PCP sent me here because she didn't feel it necessitated a ER visit. She wanted me to be evaluated by YOU to assess and in your medical opinion, do I need to be seen further or what course of action next? She swabbed me for flu and covid and I verbally questioned her because I had isolated severe GI symptoms. She said sometimes those present wither GI only. Does it? I don't know, I'm not an MD but I'm also someone who works in healthcare and it didn't feel like the proper procedure. When I asked if she would be ordering any stool samples, I heard through my closed door "do we do that?". Ok, she's new, I'll give her that...but she comes back in and says "if you'd like to have the order for stool testing I'm happy to give that to you." Am I the md or am I the patient? I came here for your professional medical opinion! Do I?! So after I kindly communicated that I am looking to her for her opinion as the expert whether or not my symptoms necessitate an order, she still doesn't quite give me a direct answer! I haven't been to that many urgent cares, but I've come to see a trend that many of the urgent cares that are owned by a company with multiple locations don't have MD's on staff physically there. That said, I've also noticed the trend that many provide sub-par care.

The front desk staff were unprofessional and unhelpful, and my attempts to seek clarification or assistance were not addressed. One receptionist, in particular, spoke to patients in a disrespectful manner. In addition, there appeared to be frequent gossiping between reception staff and a phlebotomist, which contributed to an unprofessional environment. The waiting room was overcrowded, and there did not appear to be an appropriate sense of urgency in assisting patients. The overall atmosphere created unnecessary stress and made the environment feel disorganized and unsafe. Experiences like this can discourage patients from seeking care and undermine confidence in the quality of service. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve patient care and professionalism at this location.

Not sure if it'll happen as I already have the standing appointment. The self service kiosk is easy to use, there are four machines near the entrance. Plenty of parking spaces here at the medical plaza. There's a constant arrival of patients, so not likely to be seen earlier than the appointment time. I have no idea when walk-ins would be seen as appointments have priority. I don't recommend trying to get here any earlier than ten minutes. The restrooms are clean, however, there's no wall mounted soap dispenser. That's such a big miss! Super silly having that gallon sized pump hand soap on the cabinet away from the sink. The hand dryer works well, there are no paper towels. This one is weird too, I was given a small plastic double Dixie cup with lid instead of the medical grade plastic urine collection cup. Hmm... Not sure if that was because I had to go before she had a jar ready and labeled. My phlebotomist was professional, yes. But she wasn't as good as the other one I had previously. All I care about is that they're able to collect the blood sample on the first insertion of the needle. Don't miss! Haha.

Patients make appointments because they are sick, have schedules, and need timely care. Having people sit in the same waiting area for 2-4 hours is not only extremely frustrating, but also unsafe, as it increases the risk of spreading germs. What's even more concerning is that appointment times are not respected. If multiple patients are scheduled for the same time (for example, 10:00 AM), they are not seen in any clear or fair order. It feels disorganized and inconsiderate of patients' time. This level of service shows a lack of respect for patients. If staffing is an ongoing issue, there needs to be better scheduling, communication, and accountability. Patients deserve better--especially when they are not feeling well.

Because I was instructed to fast (no food or water) before the exam and arrive at 8:10 AM, I followed all of the instructions and drove to the office. Before my appointment, I received multiple phone calls from the office. Each time I answered, there was complete silence. No one spoke, and no voicemail was left. When I called back, the office was closed, so I had no way of knowing that my appointment had been canceled. This is very concerning. If you're going to cancel a patient's appointment, please leave a voicemail or send a text message. Patients shouldn't have to guess why they're being called, especially when they're fasting and driving to an early morning appointment. When I shared my concerns with the front desk, I expected some understanding. Instead, I was told that "most people prefer phone calls." That completely misses the point. My issue wasn't that they called. It was that no one spoke, no voicemail was left, and no text was sent. Even if I were in the minority, basic communication is still important. I wasted my morning, drove to the office unnecessarily, and fasted for no reason. I hope this office improves its communication so other patients don't have the same experience.
