I came here the other night with my boyfriend and his family and we had a very nice time. We were seated right away with our reservation and we started with some drinks. I got the strawberry mojito and it was amazing! Very refreshing and I loved the light hint of strawberry that wasnt overpoweringly sweet. I ordered the ragu that came with plantain gnocchi and braised short rib topped with herb ricotta. It was so good!! The meat was tender and the sauce it was in was perfect. The gnocchi was delicious although some were a bit large (I ended up cutting them into smaller pieces) and they were very dense but altogether it worked well. The ricotta on top was a nice addition too! Others at the table got the burger, the truffle mac and cheese, and the Fresno steak salad. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I got to also try the steak salad and it was very good. The steak was cooked perfectly, although the piece was a bit small for such a large salad, and it came with craisins, bleu cheese, onion, spiced poached pears on a bed of lettuce and a cranberry balsamic vinaigrette. We also got the truffle fries on the side and they were amazing! The service was great, and we weren't rushed through dinner even though we sat talking for a little while longer. Also tried the crab fondue which had good size chunks of crab. I had the beet salad and flat iron steak. Steak was cooked perfectly medium as requested and seasoned well. Label 7 has a great split-level bar, with seating at one end where you reach down to the bartenders, and seats below where they are on your level. Kinduv neat. Although the food here was hit-or-miss, the cocktails by a young server named Jordan saved the day. More on that later... The crab cakes are good and the remoulade excellent. The haddock was decidedly NOT good, and would have knocked this experience down to a 2 or 3 were it not for the amazing cocktail. The fish had some small areas of discoloring that could have been freezer-burn. The accompanying grains and vegetables were bland, with no sauce to speak of to save this disappointing dish. Label 7 should scrap this recipe and start over. But the ginger-strawberry spritzer which Jordan called, Patio Pounder (personally, I'm re-naming it Singapore Sunrise, lol) was UH-MAZING. Light & not too fruity, heavily infused with ginger, and sparkling. This drink alone is worth the trip. read more

Great find by my coworkers. Bar service was great. Wine selection at the bar is basic. However, for $15 they will uncork whatever bottle you bring. That is a fantastic service at any restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and informative. We had a few appetizers which were all very good. The dip for the bread was a little too much oil and a bit light on the balsamic vinegar. The bread itself was fantastic. A few of us had the gourmet macaroni and cheese, everyone loved it and said it was super creamy. A few also sampled the 6 ounce ribeye special over garlicky mashed potatoes topped with asparagus which was the special of the evening. I myself sampled the meat and cheese tray and had an angry Caesar salad. The Caesar salad is a little bit spicy and perfectly sized as a side dish. Overall I would say that this is a great place to come with a group or a bunch of girlfriends. The bar was crowded and low-key everybody having small conversations, the dining room was lovely. The decorations throughout the restaurant are very, very nice and I was super impressed by the bar that is lit from underneath with sparkles that look like twinkling stars. This had been one of our favorite places with a unique menu and nice outside seating plus a decent happy hour. We had visited many times over the years... then in 2013 we ate here two different times and the service from the kitchen was absolutely horrible. The waits for food took over one hour on two different occasions - we swore the place off. With a coupon in hand and over a year since our last visit we decided to give them another try since the reviews seemed to be better.... We attempted to get a reservation for 7pm but they said the earliest was 7:45 - ok but when we arrived before 7pm to catch the last of the happy hour they were able to seat us then, really? Anyway that was the only negative of the visit. It was a busy Friday and the service was good and the wait for our food was reasonable - problems fixed? I hope so. The seafood bisque was spicy and flavorful and not too thick nor too thin in texture. The burger was done perfectly medium rare and the frites were excellent, the best in town. Hot, crispy and thin as if they were right from Europe where they know how to make frites... The enchilada was good though it seemed smaller but no big deal. My fiancé and I got engaged at the canal this past Friday and spent our engagement celebration dinner at Label 7 and our experience could NOT have been better. From start to finish, the staff was absolutely amazing. We were sat in our own private room for the 6 of us right near the bar that was absolutely PERFECT. The table had a beautiful arrangement of roses in the center because they knew we were celebrating. Our server greeted us with a complimentary round of champagne before we ordered our cocktails for a toast which was SO sweet. From then on, every cocktail, bottle of wine, appetizer and entree we got was absolutely delicious. The service was absolutely amazing. We love that we didn't feel rushed and they were allowing us to take our time between courses. For dessert, our server treated us to a round of PBJ shots that were so interesting and yummy! We are so, so appreciative to the staff at Label 7 for making our evening one that we will never forget. It truly could not have been more perfect. I love the atmosphere of this place. And weather permitting you can sit outside right on the canal and enjoy some drinks and good food. All of the staff is super friendly and personable. A few friends and I came here during a pub crawl and decided to enjoy some drinks and split a bunch of food. We ordered the bread plate - always good when you're at the end of a pub crawl. Haha. Then we had some drinks - nothing special - beer and wine. Then we had the scallops which were delicious! Last evening was my second time dining at Label 7. Years ago, I recalled not being impressed by the meal either, but was hoping for an improved-upon experience, that was met with complete disappointment. My guest and I both ordered salads with the addition of proteins, and bread for starters. Our bread appetizer was stale, rock hard, cold bread. If you're charging $8 for bread please don't serve oversized croutons that should've been turned into breadcrumbs. My guest and I agreed that we've never left bread to be discarded- if a woman orders her carbs, she wants her carbs (lol.) When our salads arrived at the table our eyes met with the "really?" look. The salads were quite honestly a side salad, charged as an entree. A small, square, shallow plate. I expressed to the server that my salad tasted good, but that my chicken was completely over cooked, dry, and cold. It was clearly pre-cooked, refrigerated, microwaved, then placed onto my greens. My guest found hair in her salmon. The meal was over at this point, and we both wished we had left sooner so we wouldn't have to pay the bill. I had a busy day at work and didn't have time for lunch, so I was hungry enough to finish my salad, as unamused with it as I was. My guest's bill was thankfully wiped clean other than her drink. Because of that, and the server being completely sweet and understanding, my rating is a 2 instead of a 1. Our server was great- zero issue with service. I had the full bill. $8 rock bread, $20 side salad with dry, cold chicken, and $9 wine. We wished we went across the way to Olives instead, and you should, too. Our server apologetically asked that we come back for a better return, but we couldn't say that we would. The atmosphere is beautiful. The wine selection is beautiful. A few weeks ago a friend and I came for dinner on a Tues. The bartenders were fantastic and the drinks were perfect. When we sat in the dining room it felt overly loud-no music, loud chatter and it isn't that pleasant but it was ok for us. We had a very sweet server who was helpful with the menu. We both got steak salad and I asked for no tomatoes. I picked them out so no big deal. The steak was not edible. I couldn't cut it and it was full of tendons. My friend had a hair in hers and decided to ignore it but then found another hair that was not the color of ours. A manager came over and they took it off of the bill and were apologetic. It was fine. We had a good time but the food was not great. Sat night a group of friends and I visited. Again it was too loud with no music helping the loud sound. I don't mean that we are sensitive old ladies. I mean that I couldn't hear my friend next to me because of the loud voices in the space. The waitstaff was miserable. The hostesses appeared clearly annoyed and angry. It was not a great feeling. I didn't see our server smile once and to be honest, I felt like we were annoying her. My burger was good! I was happy with it. The lettuce wraps my friend had were also good. Out of the 6 of us though, 3 barely touched their meals because they were awful. Our server didn't even ask if there was a problem, why we didn't ask to wrap up the meals or why they were barely touched. As we sat there and looked around though it looked like the staff was upset. When the bill came one friend had an expired Groupon that said it could be used for $12-face value, any time. Our server told us "we don't do those anymore". If I were her I would have taken $12 off simply noticing that half of us didn't eat. We didn't press the issue and I'm not blaming her. Label 7 is the jerky boyfriend you keep crawling back to for a second, third, and fourth chance. But alas, you are always let down, and left feeling empty, frustrated and ripped off. Unless of course you get the burger! If you get the burger, you will always be satisfied and leave with your tummy full and your taste buds doing a happy dance! Those truffle fries, that blueberry ketchup, that succulent juicy burger topped with cheddar and bacon... and oh the spicy pickles. Get the burger! But when you don't get the burger, when it's Good Friday and you decide to be good, and even branch out and try that salmon and veggie dish... you are back to feeling defeated. After all, there is nothing NOTHING worse than leaving a restaurant A-hungry and B- knowing that you could have cooked the same dish better and for cheaper. I ordered the Salmon Salapid. I thought it looked light, yet satisfying and the shallot vinaigrette was very intriguing. I even thought I'd order some crumbly blue to juxtapose that shallot vinaigrette. $2 extra for that crumbly blue, beware, but it's a good thing I ordered it since there was absolutely no shallot vinaigrette on my salad. Just an array of fresh, raw, veggies on a tiny plate with a tiny 6 x 1" piece of salmon. The salmon was cooked nicely, and I squeezed the lemon wedge to make up for lack of shallot dressing... but really, I could make this salad myself, with much more attentiveness to detail than was on my tiny plate. This isn't the first time I've been let down here. There have been others. I keep coming back to try again, in hopes that it has changed (just like that jerky boyfriend!). The drinks are good, the service is fine, but the food.... just, get a beer and the burger, enjoy the quaint atmosphere or the chill patio if it's nice out, and hopefully you'll leave in higher spirits than I have! read more

Tried to stop by and eat lunch there Fri, Sept 29. It was after the lunch hour and there were open tables outside on a beautiful day. We asked the hostess to seat the seven of us outside. We were sternly told that no parties more than six were allowed outside and that we would need to eat inside. Not to be deterred, we asked if we could be seated at tables of four and three and each table would pay their own tab. The hostess seemed perturbed and immediately responded that that wasn't allowed and we could either eat inside or go someplace else. Our server was attentive and comfortably disappeared as we relaxed after our meal. He was professional and knowledgeable with the menu. Food: I ordered an angry Caesar salad ($6) to start my meal and finished with a Margherita pizza ($14). My salad could've used more dressing and the croutons were soft but overall it was okay, although I wouldn't order it again. Next came my pizza which had a nice cheesy crust on the top although the center underneath was oily. The pizza had a very light flavor which was good because I wasn't in the mood for anything too heavy but I could easily imagine others wanting a more robust sauce. My table mates both ordered the LA chicken ($19) which outshined my pizza and salad by miles. I would recommend ordering their signature LA chicken & waffles over the pizza and salad. 1: there was a party of 10 that was supposed to come in at 630 but didn't get there until 7, so they say at the same time as us. this was the reason that was given that no one came over for 45 mins, while the table that was late had their drink and dinner orders taken. We had to go to the host 2 times in order to have a server come over, and all we asked for was wine glasses (we had bottles of wine) and corkscrew. he never returned, until we went to the host and to ask again. 2: Orders were incorrect: 1: LA Chicken was confirmed that butter was on the side. LA Chicken came with butter all over it and had to be sent back. 2: Ordered Enchilada...waiter ordered her an LA chicken instead and had to wait 3: Salmon Salad was ordered, salmon was raw. Manager explained that they cooked it to medium, but medium is not completely raw and sent back. Salmon came back completely raw the second time 3: Asked for a dessert menu 2 times. Finally the server told us "There really isn't anything left, we have like 2 creme brulees and a doughnut bread pudding thing left over". 4: Manager came over, and apologized. Indicated he was going to take a look at our bill and rectify the situation 5: Bill came with nothing adjusted. We called him back and told him that at minimum the Salmon needed to be removed as it was inedible, he said that he was hoping to buy us desserts but we didn't order any. Again, the server had basically told us that there was basically nothing left. I can understand being busy. I can understand being over sat. I can't understand being treated like its our fault that another table was 30 mins late to their reservation, having a server that openly and actively ignore us, being treated like i was an annoyance to them, and then having a manager indicate that in no way were they at fault and annoyed that we refused to pay for undercooked food and being held accountable to actions that they offered. It was an incredible disappointing meal to the say the least. And if you aren't able to keep up with the number of tables that you have, as well as patio seating, then stop seating or stop having a patio you can't support. read more

A fave of mine, nestled into Schoen place, and a great place for work related dinners, or any dinners for that matter. Relatively dark environs played off by light accents inside give it a warm feel and the candles and fireplace make the main dining room feel more like home.than anything else. The decor with recycled and upcycled accents is gorgeous, and...can we talk about the bar?!? The fiberoptic lighting in the shape of constellations in a concrete poured slab is mystifying! Solid drink offerings, curated wine list, mules, decent craft and standard beer offerings and cocktails with highlighted special cocktail recipes is a great touch! Let's get to the goods though - the food! An evolving menu with a truckload of offerings that include charcuterie, crafted salads, delicious apps and soups, and a great play of savory to sweet - balancing sharp flavors against fruits. Tonight's ideas were the chop board, with a delicious set of savory cheeses, and meats, and plenty of pita and ricotta to share. If you're looking for the perfect place for date night, this is the place to go! It has a downstairs area if you want a more intimate meal and tables and a bar upstairs too. At the time we went, it was definitely an older crowd feel but that could be because we were eating dinner at 8 pm. The waiter we had was super friendly and helpful. He recommended the most amazing dessert, I think he said it was a kind of homemade bread pudding/ donut. I also had the Calistoga Chedder Burger with truffle fries. The table also shared a side of the truffle mac n cheese, and we finished with the recommended dessert, lava cake, and an apple fritter. I was a bit apprehensive about coming here after reading some of the reviews. My friend heard great things from coworkers and ultimately made the push for it. After having dinner here, I have nothing but love for Label 7. We had reservations for 8pm. We ended up waiting just a bit which was just fine with me. They led us up to their bar area which set a good vibe for the night. I had their Hot & Dirty cocktail, almost an appetizer in itself before the host came and seated us at our table. We started off with two side salad orders of the Angry Caesar. Loved this. Great dressing, had lots of shredded parmesan, and didn't skimp on any of the toppings. I would get this salad again just to have more of those roasted almonds - my favorite part. We then moved onto the fried green tomatoes. They could have been a touch firmer, but the topping was great. The remoulade had a nice kick to it and the pico de gallo was zesty and fresh. I'm not usually a red meat type of gal but I chose to have their hanger steak that was topped with herbed butter. It was tender and had amazing flavor, even without the butter. A great choice for dinner, apps & cocktails, happy hour, nights out with friends, date night - you name it! My first visit to Label 7 was several years ago on a girls night out, and it seemed too far away from the bustle of downtown, too uptight and too pricey for us at the time. I mean, we wanted to save our money for our subsequent bender on the town! My opinion now is still pretty much the same - that if you're a college or grad student or you spend most of your nights out on Alexander/East, you won't find Label 7 that fun/good value for a night out. A few years older and less concerned about saving money for shots later on in the night, I now think that Label 7 is a fun hangout with great food. The bar has a hip vibe and seems like a totally different place to the dining room. The drinks are pretty good, but probably on the sweeter side for my taste. The dining room is serenely country chic, complete with bright paintings of verdant California vineyards. My guess is that most men will barely notice this, while their female partners will sigh about how the decor inspires them to head back to Parkleigh to buy that latest McKenzie Childs. The fried chicken and waffles is worth the trip there alone -- flash fried perfectly, tender and juicy, served with a warm side of maple syrup. Definitely indulge in this wonderful treat! The burger is also great -- wonderful flavor, cooked to a perfect medium, and served wtih a delicious side of thin French fries and blueberry ketchup. One of the better burgers around town in my opinion. The main drawback for me on this recent visit was probably the staff. Our waitress was great, but the hostess stand was full of Pittsfordite high schoolers on a rotating social gossipfest. First Yelp review! I've been to Label 7 numerous times over the past few years and have always had a good experience! My best experience, particularly, was the Rosé Brunch they held in August. Tickets were $65 and you received 4 sampling's of wine paired with food... as well as a full glass of wine in the beginning. Each plate was delicious, and the wine was amazing. The hosts were gracious and informative about the food and wine we were trying, where the ingredients came from and what wineries carried the wine. I'll definitely be looking forward to the next event at Label 7. Aside from the event, the ambience is always intimate and cozy in the fall/ winter and in the summertime, you can sit outside facing the canal. They have a drink of the month and change the menu and specials seasonally which is nice if you become a regular. Third visit to Label 7. We tried their Tasting Board as an appetizer. It has two types of meat (prosciutto and salami), cheese, olives and bread. It was pretty good. They had a special tonight: quarter rack of Korean BBQ Ribs served over French Fries. The sauce was tangy and mildly spicy. It was pretty good. We also had a cheeseburger, which is always good. Our server, Garrett was very helpful and informative. It was a perfect summer evening, and sitting outside was really enjoyable. Their price is reasonable, but a tad on the high side. Label 7 will always be one of my all time favorite restaurants! I've been here multiple times and don't plan on stopping! I even had my bachelorette dinner here this past summer and out of all the times I've been here, I haven't had a bad experience. My most recent time here was for my birthday a couple weeks ago. My friend wanted to treat me to drinks and appetizers after work and told me to pick a place, so of course I chose Label 7! This was our first time going to Label 7 since they remodeled their bar area. Once we got upstairs we were both amazed at how different it looked! It's definitely an improvement, that's for sure. The bar area is huge and the counter top is gorgeous! My friend and I ordered some glasses of sparkling wine (since it was my birthday I thought that it called for some bubbly!). We love their chips and dip (specifically their guacamole) so we were just going to split that. Then the manager came up and recommend their new macaroni and cheese. Who can pass up macaroni and cheese!? So we decided to get both and split them. Their guacamole is SO smooth and creamy...a favorite in my book! But now I must tell you about that macaroni and cheese....OH MY. I'm so glad we decided to order it! It's a perfect fall starter. It has aged cheddar, and even apple pieces in it! (might sound weird I know, because I definitely was hesitant when he said it contained apple, but trust me...it works!) I was so sad that it was an appetizer because we both devoured our halves of it! It paired perfectly with the sparkling wine we were drinking too :) Label 7 will always have a special place in my heart...and stomach! It took me way too long to finally try out Label 7! My friend and I came here with intentions of having a light dinner. Let's just say that didn't happen.... We splurged a little and shared the chips & dip, napa salad, and the cheddar burger. The homemade chips were great. They make a different homemade dip every night which is awesome. That night was a roasted red pepper hummus. The napa chicken salad was also great. I loved the kick of wasabi in the dressing and the fact that they served it in a huge bowl with chopsticks. For a $13 salad, I was hoping for more chicken. No biggie....as soon as the cheddar burger came out all of my attention shifted! The burger at Label 7 deserves its own section for my review. It was incredibly juicy and had just the right amount of toppings to compliment the beef. We're just getting started here though....it comes with fresh fries and BLUEBERRY ketchup. Yes, you read that right. If I had to recommended something here, I would recommend anything that is served with this ketchup. It is too good. I love that they incorporate products from local places such as the Pittsford Dairy Farm. If you're an IPA drinker, they have Flower Power IPA on draft from Ithaca Brewery which is now one of my favorites. Aside from the food and drinks, the atmosphere is awesome. I was a very disappointed this time around with label 7, I came here for brunch and as soon as we walked in the hostess was not friendly at all, she gave everyone that walked in an attitude and told them that there was a wait but all the tables were empty. She didn't seem like she liked her job at all. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, the ambiance here is great I like the set up the decor it's nice and relaxing. The food... we ordered the fried green tomatoes they were good a little pricey for what you get. We ordered LA Chicken which is chicken and waffles and a side of home fries, the chicken on the waffles was burnt it lacked flavor but again over priced for what you get, the home fries were so burnt they were inedible. My guess is that the chef forgets he puts things to cook and it burns I have no other explanation as to why everything was burnt. I would probably give this restaurant another shot maybe for dinner but never again for brunch. read more

This is one of my fiancée's favorite places in Rochester, so we had to make a date of it when we were in town. We had to wait at the bar for about a half hour despite having a reservation, but it wasn't that big of a deal because the bar area was cozy and not too crowded. While we waited I ordered a Gentleman's Margarita and my fiancée ordered an Orange Mule. Both drinks were solid. We started our meal with the Brie Sliders. The chutney jam on top was really tasty, but there was surprisingly little cheese. Also not really sure how "sliders" is an appropriate description, but oh well... I ordered the NY strip steak and my fiancée got the truffle mac & cheese. Both of our dishes missed the mark. First of all, I ordered the steak medium rare, but it was at least medium. The best steaks don't need any sauce, but this one definitely did, and the sauce that it came with was on par with A-1. The mac & cheese was extremely dry. Whatever little cheese there was drained right to the bottom of the bowl. If you're gonna pass off mac & cheese as an entree, you certainly can't skimp on the cheese. My fiancé said this was by far the worst of her half dozen or so meals at Label 7. read more

The swordfish (pictured) was very light and absolutely delicious. I'd get it again in a heartbeat! I really enjoyed how the atmosphere was lively, almost bar-like, and the restaurant is located in a great area to walk around and grab a drink. read more

Terrific restaurant with a great ambience (great sitting out near the canal). The staff was wonderful and the service was fast. I went with their recommendations and was not disappointed. The cheddar burger would be in my top 5- went with the menu suggestion of medium and it was perfect. The bourbon ketchup put it over the top; the truffle fries were also pretty great. For dessert I had their donut bread pudding, which came with local vanilla ice cream. I was hesitant because I am not a bread pudding fan (tend to be a chocolaholic), but it was amazing. It tasted more like an apple crisp without the apple or crispy French toast and the raspberry sauce brought all the great flavors together. read more

I was really disappointed with my meal here. The online menus were extremely difficult to view. There was no service in the restaurant so they would not load. We had the cheese board and the waiter did not know what came on the board before we ordered then when it came out he did not explain what was on the board. The bread that came with the board was hard as a rock and only 6 slices for mounds of cheese. The gouda that was on the board (asked another server to tell us what was on it) was good. The pepper cheddar was meh. The herb ricotta had too much raw garlic and then the underripe strawberries, spiced nuts, and bad olives made no sense. The olives tasted like they came out of a variety pack jar. None of it fit together and the quality was low. Then moving on to the burger. The meat was extremely tough and dry. I asked for it medium rare and it was pink but so dry. Then there was definitely no bacon on it, which is in the description. The pickles were not spicy, as mentioned in the description. And if there was any blueberry in the ketchup I definitely did not taste it. The bun was dry and almost stale seeming. The truffle fries were fine. But nothing special. Overall, extremely disappointed. The service was adequate but the food was just bad. It felt like they were trying too hard with everything. Also the decor was tacky. Have gotten a much better burger in other restaurants on the canal. Will not be returning. read more

My daughter and I went here on 6/23 for our last lunch together with her as a Miss, after we picked up her wedding dress. We arrived at 12:05 and stood around for about 5 minutes before a waiter acknowledge us. He said we need to speak to hostess for seating, I told him there was none. After another 5 minutes he came and seated us. There was a party of about 30 finishing while we were there. There were only 3 staff that I saw for the whole building (which is 2 levels). A young lady came over and apologized for the wait and mentioned it was her first day. Once she took our order (of 2 sandwiches) it was at least 20 minutes until they came out. I ordered the roast beef which was served on a holey piece of bread so it was hard to hold, it had maybe 3 slices of beef and 8 pieces of arugula. It was dry as their was almost no tomato jam on it. I asked her for mayo and lettuce. The fries were overcooked and hard, but the tomato sauce for the fries was good. My daughters salmon wrap looked good, but it was basically the salad entree served in a wrap, not very creative. After our meal it was another 10 or so minutes to get the check once we asked. (not sure why the staff was so non-existent with only 3 tables of people since the group had been done). From start to finish we were there 1 hour and 10 minutes for sandwiches and I was still hungry after eating my $14.00 boring, partial bread and roast beef. It is a very nice place but there needs to be some management on site to do quality control of everything. I don't plan on returning nor recommending this place. read more
