Happy accident, finding this place. We had planned to eat at the crepery or Aladdin's, but found both packed to the door. We were going to turn around when we came upon this place, and found it to be a very good choice. The food is what I guess would be called upscale American with a gourmet twist - things like a pizza made with smoked salmon and capers, or mac and cheese with gruyere and truffles. I ordered the sonoma shitake burger, which was juicy, packed with fresh-beef and earthy mushroom flavor, and held together with an in-house sauce. The steak sauce they use is a bit like A1 but with a milder flavor without an overly tangy zing. It goes great with the gruyere and mushrooms. I also heartily recommend the doughnut bread pudding. The peach turn-over....not so much. It's okay, but a dry and bland compared to the rest of the meal. Atmosphere here is very eclectic-elegant, combining wicker, basket reed, antique furniture, and candelabras into a chic, comfortable setting. It's well maintained and clean, too. I didn't look around much, but there appear to be multiple rooms, including a bar and something akin to a study. I'm assuming their specialty is the wine, though we could not imbibe the day we went. If this is true, it may be why the restaurant was so empty on a beautiful spring Saturday. I would expect it picks up in the evening. Service was adequate though not enthused. I was not sure if the single server was upset because he had to work when we walked in, or because we were the only work he had. I suspect the latter. It did take a while to get the food, but not exorbitantly so given the type of place this is. It's not meant for a quick bite on the go but cocktails and conversation with friends. Prices are not an every-day restaurant level, but not bad for this type of place, especially if you go for lunch. Portions are plentiful even here, and you won't leave hungry. read more

very pleasing atmosphere! first i was served the habanero spritz - nice color, could absolutely taste the brut (which i liked), and the purée was not too sweet and had a balancing tartness. next i shared the bee sting bruschetta flatbread - totally recommend this small plate. the mozzarella complimented the cherry pepper purée so nicely. finally, i enjoyed the vegetable mixed grill. perfectly cooked, loves the combo with the salsa. my only gripe is that presentation of this fish was far from appealing. good thing i love veggies! read more

I had the Napa Chicken and it was so delicious! The cabbage underneath had the slightest hint of spiciness to it that really brought the dinner together, Very delicious and I would definitely have it again. The atmosphere of this restaurant is also so romantic and comfortable. It was a perfect place to spend an evening on a nice date. We have always enjoyed eating at Label 7, but the takeaway absolutely beat all expectations. The $40 chicken cutlet family meal was an outstanding deal that totally hit the spot, and the margaritas and side of fries put it over the top. I was very impressed with label 7. Great location with outdoor seating, a fair number of options on the menu, well executed food preparation and high quality service. I was taken here for a birthday and sat outside. No one complained about my 4 and 9 year - olds playing near trees, our server was patient and friendly and we all enjoyed our choices. There is no kids menu, but the server was as flexible as the menu allowed. The only complaint was how long it took to get it meals on what was not a busy night. We had kids with us and don't drink alcohol, so a long wait after ordering is not ideal. Nice atmosphere with great menu options. They took reservations which was nice, and when we arrived, the tables were farther apart and the decor was warm and cozy. I started with a Moscow mule. There are great options from Mac and cheese, to salmon and stir fr. I ordered the LA chicken which is chicken and waffles. The chicken was crispy on the outside, but tender and moist on the inside. The waffles were fluffy. When combined with the syrup, it provided a great salty and sweet combination. I of course had to order the truffle frites as a side which didn't disappoint. The fries were crispy and were a nice compliment to the meal. My boyfriend ordered the donut bread pudding which was a great end to the meal. It was sweet, crispy on the outside and gooey in the inside, topped with berries and a blueberry sauce. Had a great meal with friends, and the wait staff was kind. I loved this restaurant. I found it 2 months ago and went every week because it was so good! I would get the flat iron steak every time..until I went today. I ordered what I always get, come to find out they changed the menu and it ended up being for the worst. The steak was very over cooked and tasted like the grill hadn't been cleaned in weeks. And they added a "mushroom ragout" to be the topping of the steak instead of the salsa they used to do. They use canned mushrooms and it looks very soggy. Can honestly say with this new update to the menu I've had better steak at a dennys. Long story short, before the menu change they were a 10/10. Loved it and planned to go every week for years to come. Now I would not go there again, especially to spend $25 on a steak that tastes like it's been frozen and then cooked on a dirty grill with no seasoning. read more

I've been there a few times now for appetizers. Their food is really good. Service could be a little bit faster. My only problem with this restaurant is they overcharged my credit card on their tip. I left a six dollar tip on a $28 meal, and they changed it to a $10 tip to my credit card. Luckily I saved the receipts. I have tried to call them with no answer. I have a real bone to pick with Label 7. I called and made a reservation ~4 days in advance for a party of 5. I specifcally asked if they took reservations for their outdoor seating (this was the first weekend in September and the nice weather was continunig and we wanted to take advantage). They told me they did not, but once our full party was there we would be given preference to sit outside since we had a reservation. They called the day before to confirm, which I appreciated, and again asked to confirm that we would be able to sit outside if our whole party was on time. To which she said yes. When we arrived that evening it was a beautiful night, but to our delight as we approached their patio was not crowded. When we got in I told the hostess we had a reservation and would like to be seated outside. She proceeded to tell me they did not seat parties greater than 4 on the patio. Mind you, we picked this place soley to be able to sit outside and I had cinfirmed with someone not once but TWICE that this would be possible! I begrudgingly took a seat at a table , only to go over a minute later to be a little more persistent and to say we didn't mind sitting 5 at a 4 top since we planned just to order apps and cocktails. I thought that was a reasonable compromise. She said it was restaurant policy and refused us again. I was honestly livid but I do not yell at service people so I took my seat and we enjoyed the drinks (I really liked my old fashioned) and the food was okay but nothing special. I live right down the street from this place and when we first bought our house we came here all the time. Supported them all thru out Covid and it is really unfortunate to see how downhill they've gone. I understand everyone has staffing issues right now, but they pick and choose when they want to do take out based on how busy they are, which is super frustrating. I love the vibe at Label 7, and the food is fine, but Jesus H. Macy, it is overpriced. Not just "expensive" but insanely expensive for what you get. The San Fran lo mein is overly sweet, overly sauced, and doesn't really let the rock shrimp or the sausage shine -- everything in the dish was overpowered by the sticky-sweet, candy-like sauce. And it was $26. Fried green tomatoes were overcooked. Cheese tasting board is OK, but nothing you can't get elsewhere. Wings are a nice upscale variation from the usual; on my last visit, however, they were undercooked. I shouldn't have to gnaw on a chicken bone like a cavewoman to get the meat off it. I don't mind paying high prices for out-of-this-world food, but the food at Label 7 isn't. Yes, I know that when you come here you're paying for the location, primarily, and the "scene" -- which is largely Pittsfordians with way more money than taste. To me, however, this is a place to get a glass or two of wine en route to dinner elsewhere. read more

I wish I could be increasing the number of stars on my review. The new bar area is spacious and comfortable. The drinks continue to be very good. The staff continues to be helpful. The kitchen has not kept up their end of the bargain over the years though. While you can still get some great entrees, the diversity and seasonal adventure has become substantially more muted. The tasting board, a regular favorite of ours, no longer apparently comes with the roasted garlic, the garlic butter jelly, or guacamole. Just 6 tiny cubes of cheese, a few wafer thin slices of meat, a small dish of pickled veggies, a small dish of nuts, lots of bread and a few slices of citrus. At $17 it is not a bargain for anyone but their bottom line. It used to be a lovely starter for a few people to pick on. Lastly,using a busy dining room as an excuse for 60+ minute ticket times is a lack of planning for an expensive-range restaurant targeting a higher end demographic. The diners visiting before prom were reserved in advance. Label just doesn't have the same quality and feel that it had for years. read more

Napa 7 to me probably has some of the most arrogant staff of the whole town of Rochester. I had come here with high expectations, only to be extremely disappointed in not only the food, but the service. I had asked for an appetizer before my meal, but instead was given the appetizer with my main meal. I refused to accept the appetizer and told my waitress I wasn't paying for it. I was given some excuse from the waitress "Kate" that appetizers are served with main courses, no, appetizers are served before the meal. Food wasnt good here either. I hadn't been to Label 7 in a while, so we thought we would check it out. It was a mixed experience. Some of the food we ordered was outright delicious, the steak was mediocre, and the service - well - it was great for a Burger King. The lamb with vegetables daily soup was a great starter and delicious. The cod dish, as others have also pointed out, was exceptionally tasty, and if you like your food spicy as I do, the scotch bonnet sauce will clear your sinuses out, stimulate the senses, and bring world peace. One of my guests ordered the Steak which she described as "Meh", and the other ordered the hamburger which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy. The staff appears to have be relatively inexperienced to be working in a restaurant of this caliber. Service was slow, at times sloppy, the staff was not attentive; we spent a lot of time waiting for our food with empty glasses on the table which we, on numerous occasions were trying to get refilled with cocktails and wine (which all happened to be great!). Our waitress forgot to put in our order for a side of Mac and cheese, then came out and apologized and said she would bring it right out from another order, which still didn't come until after we finished our meal. At which point we just decided to take it home. If I were them, I would not have charged us for it, but they did - which I guess is consistent for the level of service maturity they exhibited. All in all it was a good meal, but disappointing because of the service. In retrospect, we would have picked a different venue where the staff and management actually cared. read more

Yeah, this place is worth a five star review. I hadn't heard of Label 7 before I loaded up my OpenTable app to make a dinner reservation for Saturday night. Label 7 had the time I was looking for, so I took a look at their menu and booked the time. I'll try anything once (not brown bananas, though), so I figured why not? The restaurant was pretty easy to find but off the beaten track from where I usually go. Imagine my surprise to find it nestled in a quaint little village on the canal. Now imagine me surprised again when I open the doors and walk into a restaurant that's absolutely stunning. I loved this place from top to bottom. Great craft beers and cocktails, fantastic wine selection, and an innovative menu. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was served with bacon, maple syrup, and an herb butter. The chicken was *perfect*. The waffle was fluffy. The syrup was the best accent. The bacon brought it to another dimension. Seriously, the meal was insanely delicious. I'm told they just re-added this to the menu, because I didn't see it when I loaded up the menu on my phone. I'd recommend going just for this, it's 100% worth it. Honestly, I'm hesitant to even review this place on Yelp. I don't want it to become so popular that I can't get a reservation. For me, this place rivals Good Luck as one of the top meals I've had in Rochester. Can't wait to go back. read more

Worth a drive to Schoen Place in Pittsford to eat at Label 7. A California wine country transplant - you get that vibe walking in as the first thing you see is the hostess desk hoisted on wine barrels. I've been here on a few occasions - I sat outside on the patio during the summer months, hosted a birthday party for a group of 12 and enjoyed a night out with my boyfriend. Each time we had great service and the food was excellent. I rave about their burger and their blueberry ketchup is so unique. My favorite item is the pizza salad - the goat cheese and candied nuts are the perfect duo to top the lightly dressed lettuce. This is also the place the made me fall in love with the cucumber cocktail. It's so good, it doesn't even seem like you're drinking vodka. A top spot on my list of places to eat and drink. read more

I feel like I need to write a review to help others who may be mis-led like I was with previous yelp reviews. I LOVE a good burger, often crave it, so several people and fellow yelpers suggested this place as one of the "best burgers in town". I have to strongly disagree. Not only was the infamous blueberry ketchup literally just ketchup that was blue, but the burger was really just OK. I've had better almost anywhere. If the meat isn't incredible (which this wasn't) then you have to spice it up accordingly (and this wasn't). My husband ordered the fish (can't remember which) and it was not good either. This place seems way overpriced and the hype of just being in the Pittsford Village is not enough. I was warned about the service, so at least that wasn't a surprise, but it is true that the service is really slow. On the plus side, I do have to say that being able to BYOB is really nice, and the ambience is very romantic and authentically French looking, which is unique to Rochester. read more

I've had 2 excellent experiences here! Both times ordered the burger which is really, really good. Not as good as Good Luck but still very worth it. Plus the fries come with blueberry ketchup which I absolutely LOVE. My boyfriend wasn't a huge fan, though. The style and ambiance is very Napa Valley and cozy. Both times we sat in the bar area at a high-top. They have a lot of events like trivia (Tues. I think?), no corkage fees, and some coupons if you follow them on OpenTable. We also ordered the mac n' cheese one occasion and I can say it was not very good at all. Pretty bland. Outside of the blueberry ketchup which is a HUGE win in my book (I love ketchup), their Donut Bread Pudding absolutely takes the cake. Our server convinced us to order one night and I was absolutely in LOVE. They make it with Wegmans donuts and serve with Pittsford Dairy vanilla ice cream. It's not your traditional bread pudding (yuck), it's more of a dough-y, cinnamon bun-like dessert. After I raved about it to my brother, he and his gf tried it too and loveeed it. All-in-all ... order the burger, lots of blueberry ketchup, and the Donut Bread Pudding. Sit in the bar area ... it's more exciting and comfy. I can't wait to go back! read more

The cheese choices exceeded my expectations and the fresh local honeycomb was such a great addition! Label 7 prides itself in locally sourced ingredients and it's no reason why when you taste how fresh everything is here. I had the LA chicken, it was amazing and a TON of food: two giant chicken breasts and a huge waffle. We finished our dinner with dessert, the apple fritter bread pudding topped with a local dairy's vanilla bean ice cream. AMAZING! Went here a few days ago, and walked away kinda unimpressed. Located just a few streets from "downtown" Pittsford village, it's in a slightly awkward parking complex of shops. Having made reservations, we were seated right away. However, this didn't allow us to enjoy the happy hour of 2 for 1 drinks that was only allowed at the bar. The ambiance was nice that tried to get you in the feel of a california wine country, with relatively dim lighting all over. A two page menu offered as many drinks as food. It also seemed that the menu offered a vary of unrelated choices. We started off with the ratatouille which I've always wanted to try (darn pixar!). It was tasty, with some heat provided with the sauce. A nice start. I got the special which was a roast beef sandwich, with a small cup of the soup du jour and a small salad. It was alright, nothing jumped out at me. The sandwich almost had too much going on, too many flavors and messy. My date had Pappardelle, a pasta plate, that had decent meatballs, but unaspiring pasta/sauce. The clientele seem much older as we were definitely the youngest people there by at least a decade. I was hoping for more with being in the heart of Pittsford. A lot to see, not so much to taste. read more
