Went for a dress alteration quote (which they charged $50 for less than 10 minutes appointment), their quote was $1000 and we were told it could end up being even higher. Two other alteration businesses quoted $200/$225 for the same work and did not charge up-front for the quote. We chose one of the lower quote alteration businesses, they did not add any additional fees and went above and beyond. Don't over pay for alterations, shop around and get referrals! read more

Extremely rude individuals working In shop. Very costly and not quality work. Bustle was poorly done and staff member argumentative. Bustle did NOT even hold 30 mins into reception. Other customers came in while patiently waiting for possible repair on what had been done. One was scolded for being late and the other girl's dress didnt fit after alterations (was told she had gotten fat). Very rude staff. Upon arrival, non-professional greeting regarding appointment amd we had done it wrong and on and on. Very high priced- shocking. Several disrespectful and offensive statements to bride regarding her choices to be modest at church not being valid and questioning judgement. Made disrespectful comments about churches who wanted sleeves, which was not our case, and acting like her own choice to not have plunging neckline was odd and not the style. She had no place to make these statements. This was my daughter's special day and she wanted to look how she wanted to look and wasn't going to hand $1200 for minor alterations to a place that disrespected her and her wishes and were quite rude to her upon arrival. It must depend on the seamstress you get as to how you feel about Lace Alterations, but I would never go here again. First off - the scheduler is inflexible and rude about appointments. First appt wasn't hard to schedule, but the second one "could not be on a Saturday unless it's an emergency." Very difficult to schedule that second appointment! Then - our seamstress had a very cold personality and was argumentative about some changes that needed to be made. I think it was Gloria (owner) who heard her arguing with me and then came over to make suggestions to her. Beyond that, the sleeves to the dress came off during the reception! I think they were "tacked" and not permanently sewn down. The sleeves were draped off the shoulder and could be removed, but we specifically wanted them permanently attached to the dress. Bibi was a fantastic seamstress to work with on the alterations of my wedding dress. I came in with the request to add lace sleeves to my sleeveless dress. We had ordered sleeves and appliqués from the dress designer and Bibi expertly sewed and placed them. She did it so creatively and beautifully. She made sure my mom and I were both happy with the dress and was so caring and kind throughout the process. The whole Lace team was great to work with! read more

They did an incredible job with my wedding dress back in 2021, and they continue to do phenomenal work with bridesmaid dresses, regular dresses, everything! Cannot recommend them enough. Getting your dream dress ready for that one perfect day is nerve-racking. After purchasing my dress from Bride Beautiful, they recommended Lace Alterations. Who am I to challenge their recommendation? I worked with Pat who did a great job. She's been doing this a long time so if she suggests something, listen. Not the most personable person, but who cares? She's not your friend! She had a lot of dress to work with (Maggie Sottero Priscilla dress)and it was PERFECT. I've left a review for Bride Beautiful and it wasn't stellar. I forgot to mention that they had me (I almost felt forced - although I am a grown woman) purchase a dress a size too big. Sherri is such an amazing seamstress! My wedding dress started a bit large and she altered it to perfection despite the intricate beading details and sheer illusion back that had to lie perfectly in order to look it's best. At my final dress fitting, I had lost weight and unfortunately she had to redo the alterations, but she still did an exceptional job despite that frustration. GLORIA, I believe is the owner is so disrespectful and unprofessional, I brought my dress back for alterations to remove the belt I purchased from Lace and she lost the belt, it's now been 3weeks and she still can't find it. Update to this review: I was the only bridesmaid in the wedding that had the dress fitted improperly. It hit me entirely in the wrong place. It was so embarrassing. And even though I mentioned it seemed too long and I would like it hemmed and was assured it was fine, sure enough during picture taking as we walked down a street, my heel caught the dress ripping it up the front. It was recommended to me to head over to Lace alterations when I got my wedding dress. These ladies are so very sweet, and make everyone who walks in feel special and beautiful. They did an excellent job making my dress fit like a glove. All of the details of my lace dress look absolutely wonderful. They are nothing short of perfectionist, and know just how a dress should look to flatter every body type. They work very efficiently and won't break the bank. I am so grateful to Lace Alterations! I had a lace bolero altered by another seamstress, which turned out to be a disaster. Shortly thereafter I became ill and was hospitalized three weeks prior to my wedding. I was discharged with a portable IV contraption to infuse continual antibiotics for two weeks. Through a series of random encounters I ended at Lace Alterations' doorstep - one week prior to my wedding departure. They exceeded my expectations! First and foremost, they were very kind/sensitive about my portable IV and assisted with disrobing and robing in the dressing room. They also made design suggestions, which turned an ordinary bolero into a spectacular garment. I am eternally grateful to Lace Alterations for their part in making my wedding absolutely perfect! read more

I'm never one to complain or write a bad review, but I was quite disappointed with my experience with Lace Alterations after first reading all the wonderful reviews. When I called, I spoke to a lady who told me to bring my bridesmaid's dress in right away to avoid a rush fee since the wedding I was in was 2 weeks away. I came ten minutes later. After the dress was already pinned and put away they calculated the cost for me, which came to $115 + tax...for a simple hem ($65), a rush fee ($25), and to take up the shoulder straps a few millimeters ($25). I had sticker shock since I have never paid so much for a hem in my life (even the bridesmaids I was with paid way less for their dresses). They wouldn't waive the rush fee (even though they told me if I brought it in that day I could avoid a rush fee), so I told them to not worry about the shoulder straps - leaving me at $90. The seamstress (Pat) is a contract worker so she takes the dresses home with her to sew and brings back to the alteration shop. When I needed to pick up my dress, I had to drive an hour south to Pat's home to pick up my dress since she wasn't going to be in the shop until after the wedding. Having payed a rush fee, I would expect better customer service. When I picked up my dress, the hem was still too long. Pat was very nice to re-hem it for me, but I did have to wait. Pat was very nice but the company needs to focus on customer service. I am very disappointed with my experience and will definitely choose somewhere else to go with any dresses or bridal needs in the future. read more

I would recommend this place for alterations to anyone. The quality of the service was fabulous. I had a lace dress that needed a few alterations done in order to make it fit perfectly. They were very knowledgeable (decades of experience), speedy (dress altered in less than two weeks) and affordable (less than $100 for what I needed done). I did not need that much altered, but knowing that so many places like to rip you off with anything wedding related, it was a pleasant surprise to see reasonable pricing for a change. read more

I am completely and utterly devastated as a result of my experience with Lace Alterations. My wedding is in two weeks, and I am now left with a totally different dress than when I walked through Lace's doors a few months back. I walked into the shop seeking out minor alterations to my wedding dress, and Lace completely tore apart my dress without my knowledge or consent. At each appointment, of which I had four for a minor fix, I found new things wrong with my dress, none of which were a result of things I asked for. For example, I asked for my bodice fabric to be smoothed, and the straps to be taken up. When I returned to try on my dress, the fabric had been cut, resewn unevenly, and pulled so that there were new ripples in my dress, and the seams along my bust were completely uneven and were not sewn on the same line. Lace had also taken out the lining of my dress, and had improperly sewn it back in, making the job of my new seamstress all the more difficult, if not impossible. Bottom line- I walked in with one dress, and now I have one that looks and feels completely different. Beyond Lace's incompetence in altering my dress, their customer service was pitiful. During my fourth appointment, I started crying out of disappointment and fear, because my wedding is two weeks away. I was told that I was rude for crying and for criticizing their work. The way that Lace, specifically Gloria, treated my mother and I is disgraceful, and they should be ashamed. To top off the entire experience, Lace charged me $450, and refused to return any money. I was forced to leave Lace Alterations in tears to find another seamstress to save my dress, at my own cost. I sincerely hope any bride considering Lace will take my advice and run far, far away. read more

I brought in a sample dress that I just loved that was several sizes too small. I had fallen in love with the dress and when I went back to order it I was told it had been discontinued. I was so disappointed so I bought the sample dress and took it to Pat at Lace and she altered the dress to perfection! It is the perfect dress for mother of the groom and a wedding in Hawaii! Gloria altered my wedding dress and my mother's and my sister's (MOH). I was one of those Type-A brides. You know, the one who has a full service planner but still insists on having her hands in everything. Needless to say, it took several consultations/fittings for me to be content with the alterations she made to my designer sample dress. The final product was well-worth it. I had a 40-year-old christening dress (the very dress I wore when I was Baptized and all my children wore when they were Baptized). The lace was old and torn. I didn't think it could be repaired. When my younger sister had her first baby and wanted the dress, I went to Lace Alterations. Gloria agreed to help me with my dress when I received it incomplete and in shambles from another alterations person the day before I was to leave the country for my wedding. The team dropped everything and began tearing the dress apart so that it could be re-made properly. They were all positive and quick to calm my rather frantic mindset. Gloria worked well after closing to complete all the work and, as I found out later, during her afternoon off. Our wedding on the beach yesterday was beautiful.
