Hello! I have been following Natalia Grossman (a competitive rock climber) recovering from meniscus surgery and I was moved to look up Dr. Zack and share my experience. I still wince whenever I see other people in that big ol' brace out in the wild. TLDR, I'm 7 years post op and feeling pretty good, mostly. I've had full return to function; I play pickup basketball monthly and get out to play ultimate frisbee weekly. I should probably be better about strengthening my legs...it's an ongoing process. I tore my meniscus in 2018 playing ultimate frisbee. There were quite a few veteran players out there who have been through it, and a lot of them recounted how they had surgery done but then after a year or two they were in pain again. They felt like the best course of action for me was to get bulk glucosamine from Costco and rehab the muscles around the knee. So I put off surgery for a month waiting for the swelling to go down but eventually I landed on surgery. First doctor I saw (Huntington Orthopedics maybe?) said hey no problem, I'll trim the meniscus and you'll be on your way. Badabing badaboom. But something didn't sit right with me -- it just felt very perfunctory, like he was going knock that knee surgery out between a round of golf and cocktails or something. I dunno! That's just the impression I got! So I did some more digging around and landed on Dr. Zack. I don't know if I recounted my previous experience to her (I probably did not) but she said she could repair my meniscus, but recovery would take more time. And lo, we decided on that course of action. It's been a while but thinking back there were no red flags to me about her office or her professionalism, or whatever some of these other complaints are. I suppose YMMV but they were nothing but easy to work with for me. The worst thing you could say is that on surgery day there were no pleasantries -- I think I said "Hello Dr. Zack!" and then the anesthesia knocked me out and when I woke up it was all done. (i kid about the pleasantries!) Thank you Dr. Zack for your second opinion and returning me to full function. As of now those grizzled ultimate players have been proven wrong. She's really good. Went there with my wife who needs a knee repairing procedure. We had looked at other doctors and went through the whole process. For the past four years, I've had three eye surgery two head concussion and a back injury which I recovered from and in September I tore my meniscus amazing doctor wonderful surgery. She kept my entire meniscus. I am on my fourth month recovering. I'm having a phenomenal recovery I'm able to walk run and eventually get back into sports. This is a wonderful surgeon. She does a really really great job when it comes to meniscus injuries. I would highly recommend this doctor to perform any type of orthopedic sports surgeries. read more

update- this doctor is now slandering me by commenting saying she's protecting the safety of her office from me. This Doctor is truly a bully and a liar. That is defamation. *I* was disrespected while going through a terrible experience. Please protect yourself and do not go see this woman. Even her google reviews talk about this aggressive attitude. Dr. Zack's attitude is on full display in her reply to the other yelp user in review below named Sasha. I have reported her and her office. I broke my foot and my visit went well, didn't need surgery. I told her my concerns about DVT since my father passed away from it. She ordered ultra sound and I went to appointment the next day. Everything was fine. I called her office to ask if they had already submitted the authorization for the boot, two days after my visit because I realized that I would need it as soon as possible since I am a single woman with a dog and need as much support as I can. The shoe that I have now does not give me the full support that I would like. The first time I called, the person who answered told me that she would make a note of it on the authorization. I was then called by Liz, another member of her staff, in the afternoon to ask me if I had gone to my ultra sound appointment. I told her that I had. She consulted with the doctor and told me that everything was fine. I mentioned that I'd called earlier and asked about the boot. She told. me she would talk to Dr. Zack and call me back. When she called me back, her tone was dismissive and Dr. Zack's message to me that she gave to her to give me, felt dismissive as well. I told her that she was being rude and to let Dr. Zack know that. She replied "okay." And I hung up. I then wrote Dr. Zack a direct message. Telling her that I felt that because I wasn't getting surgery that I was being treated in a rushed manner or not as important and that I felt like I had to advocate for myself. Her message this evening was unprofessional and something I have never experienced before as a patient. She completely turned the situation around on me. During a time of excruciating pain, this woman has put me through even more hardship. I saw her in 2017 and had a completely different experience. I do not recommend this office and highly suggest another ortho. I would not want any other patient to be talked to or treated this way. A neighbor took me to my appointment and witnessed me being nothing but kind to Dr. Zack and staff. Dr. Zack did not like me standing up for myself, and she retaliated by telling me that my behavior would not be "tolerated" and that I had hung up on her employee. And that she would no longer be seeing me. I can only imagine she will leave a lengthy attitude filled reply to this review. This is a red flag. And no this is not a fake review. Patients are allowed to advocate for themselves without this type of blow back. Please make sure to pick a kind doctor wether you are in need of surgery or not. Someone who will make healing your broken bones...a healing experience not a cruel and cold one. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Zack for a few months due to a rotator cuff injury. I cannot be more thankful with her because she has been so amazing in the way she has treated me. She is very comprehensive and listens to you and doesn't make you feel like she's in a rush to finish. She sits down and explains and answers every question or doubt you might have in a way that you understand and feel comfortable with. Not only that but if you have any other issue not relating to her specialty she takes the time to listen and refers you to whom you should see. Not many do that for you. A very professional, caring and goes above and beyond to help you. Xochil (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong) very polite and friendly, has been very helpful getting all feedback and letting the dr know in advance any concerns you might have. In addition, Liz who works in the front office. What can I say she's so caring and helpful. She has been on top of all my authorizations making sure that I get the correct information. If I call the office and for any reason I can't reach her at that moment she makes sure to call back to see what I need. She treats you with kindness and respect. Never seen or heard a rude comment or attitude towards anyone. Simply one of the best if not the best experience I've had with a Dr and her staff! Would recommend without any doubt. read more

I cannot express with words how amazing my experience with Dr. Zack's office has been so far. If I could give them 100 stars, I would! First of all, Dr. Zack is SO thorough with her explanations of what the issue is, the possible outcomes, and treatment as well as making you understand what is happening (I went with another ortho doctor before her and the difference with her care and theirs was astronomical). I didn't feel like she was rushing to go see another patient like so many other doctors do. Her assesment and treatment made my pain level decrease while nothing else had been working and I'll update this when I finish my treatment. Additionally, Liz who works in the administrative side....unbelievably attentive and caring. I had some issues with my insurance and she was super involved in helping me resolve it. I could not believe (in the literal sense) how much she was doing to help; she was going out of her way to help me with things no single other office I've been to in my life has helped me with (I'm not exagerating). And all of that with such a positive disposition! She went all-out and I can't express my gratitude with her level of compassion. However much they are paying her, she deserves a raise! read more

This office is just horrible! I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this just takes the cake. They should be poster children for bad medical practice. This doctor diagnosed my son awhile ago, and l had to get a second opinion, being that her diagnosis was quite questionable. I don't wanna get into it (for personal reasons), but from her receptionist to her (Dr. Zack), it was just one rude person to the next, not to even mention her incapable practice. I was a patient of Dr.Zack over a year for ACL reconstruction Surgery. I do not recommend this Doctors what so ever. I am a woman of color who endured extreme medical gaslighting. I made a big mistake by letting her operate on me. She was very ambiguous about just how extreme the rehab process would be... She frankly was cold and unfriendly from the beginning. After the surgery developed a major life threatening complication. She and her staff minimized this and did not take it serious. I was later hospitalized due to this and told that I could have died. I believe that I experienced unconscious bias. I was treated very poorly by Dr.Zak. I struggled for almost a year plus after this surgery and finally stopped seeing her. I have a new doctor who communications much better and doesn't make me feel horrible when I am in pain and already in a vulnerable point. I think perhaps Dr.Zak maybe a good doctor but she was a horrible fit for me. She and her staff actually ignored a life threatening complication she may not have known that is was life threatening but she didn't even think to investigate it.. Not ok If you're a pretty woman of color be wary not a good experience at all. I based solely on my own horrible experience with her do not recommend her at all. I do not again recommend this doctor. Also please beware if she is rude and condescending. WALK AWAY! Lesson learned. read more

Dr. Zack thoroughly reviewed my imagining and determined that she was not the doctor for my injury AND THEN she sat with me for 20 minutes going through my insurance website portal helping me make a list of the appropriate surgeons that were also covered by my plan- this was amazing because I have OSCAR and the website is not effective. Dr. Zack took me on as a patient even though she doesn't normally treat neck injuries but after hearing the runaround I got from 2 orthopedic specialists she saw me and after x-rays turned up nothing (as she expected, Doc. I had torn the meniscus in my knee in several places. I had put off doing anything about it for way too long. Finally, I was limping--in serious pain. Dr. Zack got me into an MRI, and quickly got me into a surgery session with her a few days later. The surgery was (from my end) stress-free. The staff, nurses, and anesthesiologist were all great. Dr. Zack explained the possible outcomes, and it helped me plan for my recovery. I went from being in so much pain that it was difficult to sleep, to feeling like I have a new knee. Going from full-time pain to pain-free feels like a miracle. If you're in pain, do not put it off! She is also a kind person with a great bedside manner who will put you at ease. If you need an ortho, you could not do better. read more

I broke one of my ankles in 2019 and then had a trimalleolar ankle fracture in 2023. Dr. Zack performed both of the surgeries, and I am so glad that I went to her. I have 0 pain in my left ankle, and 5 months out of the surgery for the right one, I am on track + healing. It was a very bad fracture, and my recovery has been significantly faster than the original estimate. Dr. Zack has been incredibly communicative and helpful, and her staff is friendly and always responds to messages. I was surprised to see negative reviews because my experience with her has always been positive. I recommend Dr. Zack to anyone I know who is in need of orthopedic surgery. read more

Can't say enough great things about Dr. Zack and her staff. Would give more stars if it was possible. January 2019 I ruptured my patellar tendon playing basketball in ATX. Came back home, had MRI, and was given a list of Orthopedic surgeons that my insurance worked with in the area. Several surgeons had extensive experience and also many reviews that were mixed at best. At the time, Dr. Zack only had a handful of reviews on Yelp but they were all overwhelmingly positive. After all the research, I decided I would rather work with a young surgeon with fewer reviews(all positive) than one with more experience but an iffy track record. Very glad I decided what I did. On my initial visit, Dr Zack looked at my MRI and did an exam of my knee. She told me I would need surgery as soon as possible and explained how the process would go. Scheduled surgery for the next week and when I saw her pre-op, she once again explained the whole process and what to expect post-op. I saw her two weeks post-op, and then every few weeks/months after that and in each instance, she explained what I should expect, what I could and could not do, the timeline for certain milestones, and answered all my questions. Just had my last visit 7 months later and she gave me the green light to continue on without restrictions, which I completely trust. I have full range of motion in my knee, no lingering pain or stiffness, and can pretty much do everything I was doing pre-surgery. For such a serious knee injury, I couldn't ask for more. Also, someone I know who has worked with her in surgery settings let me know that she takes her work very seriously and will stay longer in surgery if it means the work is of higher quality. She's been professional and courteous throughout the whole process. I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes and the whole staff seems to keep things moving and on schedule. Can't recommend enough. Always remember to do your research and don't just go with the most convenient(closest or most experienced) candidate when it comes to your Orthopedic surgery. My mother broke her knee cap and had Dr. Zack conduct a patella surgery August 2017. She took the time to clear explain all the possible operations, side effects, and actions that available. Dr Zack is amazing she always went above and beyond the Call of Duty in order to explain the demographics of the surgery as well as giving her medical opinion alongside with your input. Unlike my first Doctor who insisted that I need surgery and gave no other options, Dr. Zack took the time to sit with me and showed me what was going on with me knee, reviewing the images with me and explaining what my options are. I cannot express how kind, professional and attentive Dr. Zack was with helping my son. My son hurt his knee badly, and was coming into town from NYC for just three days. Dr. Zack went out of her way to fit him in to see her and magically arranged for him to have an MRI and an XRay on the same day. She really went out of her way to accommodate his needs based on his time constraints. Not only did she manage to get an MRI scheduled immediately, but went out of her way to get the results less than 24 hours later and called my son personally to explain the results to him. Thank Goodness the MRI showed us the situation was not as bad as we thought. All in all, Dr. Zack really went out of her was to accommodate my son and she was professional, kind and considerate. I think dr Zach is a well trained physician who is relatively young and personable. Her office is not excessively crowded and she gives you the time that you that you need. Her staff was helpful and the location is good if you are looking for something closer to downtown as she's near the good Samaritan Hospital. I recommend Dr. Zack's work and feel that she's an excellent doctor. Portal is also very up-to-date good way to communicate and receive records. read more

I separated my AC joint pretty bad and went to Dr. Zach. She didn't want to do the surgery right away since it was kind of on the borderline of it being necessary. But after a few weeks we decided to go through with it. Mostly because it was healed but I didn't have full mobility and my collarbone was raised a noticeable amount. I felt very comfortable the whole time and the surgery went great. Now it's been about 10 weeks and my shoulder is almost at 100 percent. Best of all, the height of my collar bone is exact to the other. Besides the scar you can't tell the difference. Thanks Dr. Zack! read more

I quit one knee Dr. because he was such a pompous, blowhard a@@. Always running late; in a rush to get you into surgery and always impatient when you ask questions. I found Dr. Zack because I was seeing her partner at Select Orthopedics for my wonky wrist. I liked the care she gave me so much that I quit Dr. Grumpy and started over with Dr. Zack. It was the best decision I could have made. It's such a joy to actually like my Dr. and to have every confidence that she has my best interest at heart and that we're on a conservative, carefully considered and compassionate path in caring for my knees that MAY lead to surgery but only after we've tried other more conservative measures first. One star off for some inefficiencies in the flow of information but I wouldn't trade a perfect flow of information if it meant giving up the confidence I have in the care I'm getting from Dr. Zack. I'll add that when I've called to find out what happened or is supposed to happen, they're super helpful and cheerfully set things right. read more
