I had a very positive experience here. It was not hard to find. It's very close to Rusans sushi if you've ever been there. I parked on the side and went in the studio without any issues. I had an appointment with Mavis who is the owner of the salon with her daughter. My appointment was at 1pm but I showed up around 1245pm just to give myself enough time. I was surprised that she was able to take me back sooner than my appointment. She has a nice selection of OPI gel colors. The whole salon is beautiful and very clean. I can tell Mavis is very careful and particular-she had on gloves and a mask. She was super sweet and did an excellent job. The studio is quiet which I like! Some studios are so loud and busy but this was actually a relaxing experience for me. I used a Groupon without any issues. I will definitely be back. As far as the complaints go about only making an appointment online, that's just the way it goes. A lot of people do it and to me it's easier for me with my lifestyle. As far as walk ins, don't expect it!! She's a one woman show!! I would much rather make an appointment than not knowing how long my wait is. And I'm surprised about people complaining about the salon being rude. She was so sweet and couldn't of been more helpful. read more

Alright...let's start by saying Mavis is a wonderful person with a great personality. She is friendly, informative, and seems to care about the work she does, a lot! Her shop is beautiful and very well maintained. I had an appointment at 6PM on a Friday, and she had a client before me, but was spot on with my appointment time. Gotta love that! The color I chose was new to Mavis, so she hadn't used it at all. The actual finished product turned out very pretty overall. Some streaks and lumpy areas, but not noticeable. The polish ended up coming off 4 days later...today. So the thing is....Mavis is a hard working woman and I admire her for keeping such a neat shop, putting up with people all day long, being so nice and outgoing, and honoring appointment times. She is a one woman show, and doing a great job. I was a little unhappy about my polish...but...it was a new polish...maybe she wasn't so familiar with it...and I just liked her. So I will definitely give her another chance. Everyone deserves one. read more

I LOVE LACQUAR AND WAX. No, you don't get a broken vibrating chair, but a nice comfortable leather chair AND a pedicure bowl with a disposable liner. When your service is done, the old liner is removed and a new one is put in its place (I don't know why this is not utilized at more salons). She's a really nice person but she did the worst gel manicure I've ever experienced. I'm not picky at all when it comes to these services but the manicure is so horrible. My nail already chipped, probably because she filed it down with a powered machine... all the nails have corner without gel, and it's red polish so super noticeable. Also if you get the Groupon she only let you pick 6 colors, I paid an extra $10 for OPI. She admites it herself that the other brand was not good. Either way, the manicure execution was so bad it didn't matter that I paid the extra for OPI. I hope she gets better with practice, but I won't be returning. The location is somewhat difficult to find, it's labeled as a holistic doctors office. Mavis was great with filing the nail and trimming the cuticle. She also gave a great foot scrub and foot massage. However I was very disappointed in the outcome. My nails and toes looked great when I left but the gel started chipping later that night and before the end of the week several nails had no polish left on them. She hurried me out of the salon before my toes were dry and although I left them in flip flops for several hours they still messed up when I put on heels for the event that night. read more

I would not suggest this place! The lady is nice, but the services are poor!! I made an appointment online (and was told if you arrive more than 15 minutes late your appointment will be canceled). I arrived right on time, and then I had to wait 50 minutes while she finished the appointment ahead of me. This is a one woman show and not your typical mani/pedi salon. No magazines, no bubbly spas to soak your feet in, no massage chair, no large assortment of polish choices. After picking from a limited selection of polish, you sit down in a chair. The woman then fills a bowl of water (like literally takes a bowl to the faucet and fills it with water) and places it in front of your feet. Overall, I had to wait forever despite having an appointment. I was at the salon for 2 1/2 hours. My pedi and gel mani were awful!! I have already made an appointment to have a proper gel mani and pedi at a nice location tomorrow. read more

Used the Groupon to go get my nails done, and was really impressed with reminders the appointment booking website sent, as well as the directions given to make finding the location easier. I enjoyed the one on one atmosphere, and simplicity of the environment. Mavis was very nice. However, my polish job was something I wouldn't pay full price for. I had polish on my fingers and on my cuticles. I wasn't very satisfied with the way my nails turned out. If you're looking for something neatly done, I would not recommend. read more

I hate to do this but fair is fair. I do believe Mavis is operating under a new name now. I purchased a Groupon, and when I looked at the address I realized It was the same place I had reviewed two years prior. Regardless, I purchased a Groupon for a SNS dip manicure and standard pedicure. I confirmed my appointment as requested about two days prior. I showed up for my time, in fact I was about five minutes early. And while I could see a car in the parking lot, all doors were locked. Mind you I'm still early at this point. I circled the building, Rang the doorbell, knocked on the door, and no answer. I was annoyed to say the least. But there was a number listed on my Groupon, I called it, and called and called and called. I stood in front of this building for about 10 minutes. I was able to leave a message, but no one ever picked up. As I got back into my car I'm now about 15 minutes past my appointment time, I called Groupon to request a refund. While on the phone with Groupon Mavis finally called me back. She said that she was in the building waiting for me and had been there the whole time. Now I understand she shares a building entrance and that the doors must have been locked by another business. But after confirming my appointment time as requested, and then being a no-show, You think she would've gotten up and checked. Or better yet answered her darn phone. Lesson learned, and it seems to be a common theme with some of the more newer reviews. I would probably look elsewhere for reliable services. In all fairness she did offer to fulfill my groupon but we were now 30 minutes past the appointment time and I was not in the mood to be there so late. read more

This place was phenomenal. I booked online with a groupon for a brazilian wax, and got a reminder via email the day before. Khiana was my esthetician and she was friendly and kind. Her technique was awesome- she started with the worst parts and then quickly finished up the rest. Although not painless (that would be magic!), it was quick and well done. Then she scanned my groupon and I was out the door. The location is within the Hollistic Wellness Center and is a beautiful building and room. There is parking available. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to anyone trying to get beach ready. read more

I had a LivingSocial deal for a gel manicure and regular pedicure and I'm so glad I did! Mavis is a true perfectionist and I really appreciated her attention to detail. She is so warm and personable as well! It's a little hard to find her space (she's the nail tech and her daughter is the esthetician) as it's tucked away in a holistic doctor's office, but it's definitely worth finding. I bought a Groupon to have my nails done for an upcoming wedding with the intention of also purchasing a pedicure at full price. I work full-time and none of the online appointments worked for me, so I called to make an appointment instead. First of all, it took me three days to get a human on the phone. When I finally did speak to someone, she was extremely rude and couldn't have been less accommodating. My friends also bought Groupons and walked in for appointments and ended up leaving and cancelling their deals to get their money back because the woman was yet again, extremely rude. I signed up for Yelp just to write this review. I was from out of state and decided I wanted to get my eyebrows waxed. I usually tweeze them myself. Most times people make my eyebrows too thin and archy but Khiana made mine perfect! She knows exactly how to shape your brows to your face. The only con was that the building is really hard to find. I wish I was still in North Carolina because I have still yet to find someone who waxes my eyebrows as well as Khiana did. I bought a living social deal for a mani/pedi here, and I made an appointment as requested. They did well sending reminders about my appointment, however, it went downhill after that. I had a difficult time finding their location as it is not well marked neither outside nor inside the building. I was never greeted at my appointment time, had to ask someone in their space (different company) where I should wait, waited for 20 minutes after my scheduled time with Mavis and then took it upon myself to check in with her & find out she was running at least 40 min behind. I never received a call to let me know of this delay. Mavis was rather rude and offered no apology. The worst experience I have ever had! My nails are a complete mess. Polish all over my skin. My daughter could have done a better job. As I pointed out all the mistakes she had made she began to argue with me and told me "I bet you are picky every time you get your nails done". Really?? Zero customer service. Pros: 1. The place is very clean. 2. The pedicure in particular looks great a few days out. Nice work on that. Cons: 1. Good luck getting in contact with the salon. My main problem has originated here. There is a phone number but you will be sent to an endless loop where you can't talk to anyone or even leave a message. If I could have spoken to Mavis in the first place then I could have asked my question. I ended up having to write my question as a comment to the appointment I booked online. I never got an answer. 2. The appointment started 20 minutes late!!! 3. Funny story - there's nothing to read there except nail industry magazines. In sheer boredom I read one and it had an article about best techniques, one being that a nail tech should never clip cuticles because it leaves them more ragged than ever, they should be pushed down. I thought about this while my cuticles were clipped down and left bleeding in several places. 4. I had purchased a Groupon for the business a year or so ago. I didn't use it because of point #1. However I didn't want to lose my money so I finally struggled to figure out how to make an appointment. When I checked the prices online it appeared to me that my Groupon would cover the cost of the service I wanted. It is not at all clear that the price posted is a special and when I showed it to a coworker he agreed that it was confusing. I clearly asked that the (generous) tip I wanted to give Mavis be charged to my bank card. Imagine my horror when I checked my bank statement a couple days later and found I'd been charged the full amount minus the amount of the Groupon. I questioned this by emailing the salon. Mavis called me (she DOES have a real working phone, it's been proved!). Sadly my problems were brushed off with a disingenuous 'where is this coming from?' No refunds, no concern, no attempts to make things right. If she had been cool about this she would have gained a loyal customer, despite the abovementioned defects. I'm a huge believer in taking care of someone who takes care of me. As it is, I am warning others as I wish I'd been warned. read more
