Ok so I'm not a person to leave any review, good or bad, but I had a crummy experience and I'm not thrilled about it. I had booked myself and my daughter an appointment at 10:30 on Saturday am knowing what we had on our schedule that day and thinking that was a feasible time. I got a text after I booked asking me to move my appointment to 10 and I said ok and cancelled my daughters appointment as our plans had changed. I received text confirmation of the appt change and cancellation as well as an email confirmation of the cancellation. On Saturday I arrived a bit late for my appointment as that extra half hour was hard to shave off of our morning. Upon arriving they let me know I wouldn't have time for my whole service which is fine and totally understandable. They were then waiting expectantly for my daughter. When I told them I had cancelled her appointment they gave me a hard time and were visibly annoyed. I was taken to sit down and I tried to show the girl doing my manicure the text I received and she wouldn't even acknowledge that I was showing it to her. Aside from how rude everyone was when I first arrived (it fell very uncomfortable, and I used to be a stylist so I understand things happen) the girls were nice during the service. I got a gel manicure on a Saturday. By Monday, the nail polish on one finger chipped off half way. On Tuesday, the nail polish on another finger chipped off. As of today, Wednesday morning, another nail has peel off and another is chipped. Keep in mind I work in an office and keep great maintenance of my nails with nail oil and moisturizing. I have never had this happen with gel before and it's a super bummer, especially on top of feeling uncomfortable in the salon. This was my favorite place to go downtown so that stinks. I had great other experiences there, so I take this as you will. read more

This place has a really great vibe and I loved the view of the hustle and bustle of Guadalupe St through the glass storefront. My technician, Marz, was really nice and took care to make sure she gave me a unique experience based on the condition of my feet and didn't just run through a basic step by step process like I've experienced before. She also educated me on how to upkeep calluses/rough skin without overdoing it and harming collagen growth. I got the deluxe pedicure. I think $45 is a little over priced for what I got but it seems to be on the cheaper side for downtown Austin. They use cleaned, sanitized tools which is a must for me. I definitely felt pampered and enjoyed a glass of Chardonnay, too! When I walked in, the woman at the desk was on the phone and didn't make eye contact with me until she was done, but she was super nice when she was ready to help me. This was my first time here. I had high expectations because of the price. I got the classic gel manicure which was fine. My appointment was at 12:45 and I was in a chair by 1pm. The whole thing lasted about 25 minutes (says it should be 45 min). The nail tech was nice...Wasn't chatty which was fine. This place is nice because there's no nasty smells like you may get at smaller, cheaper salons. It was very clean. Overall, my manicure was fine but my experience was Ok. So first off, my fault for coming here without doing my research. I had no clue that I was booking a pedi at a place that was just going to wrap my feet in hot towels and do a bland job of lightly scrubbing my feet and then slapping some polish on my still-crusty-after-being-worked-on toes. After finding this out (which hilariously enough, happened after I had been seated and realized there wasn't a foot bath in sight) I swallowed my surprise and sucked it up, this is better for the planet right? Cool, I'm over it. What REALLY bothered me was how blasé the nail tech was. She did my nails and then put some polish on, seemed in a hurry to dip out and then finally did. I was sitting in my chair for probably forty minutes, falling asleep a bit and then finally deciding to ask someone if my toes were done drying yet (note I said "someone" my tech disappeared out of the front door and didn't come back while I was there), she checked and kind of shrugged. This is really poor AND EXPENSIVE service for what you're getting. Honestly, it's probably more of a money grab for a dumb customer with a wad of cash visiting the area and environmental friendliness as an afterthought. Next time, I'll just hire my baby cousin to put a wet towel on me and paint my nails, maybe she can even do a Paw Patrol pattern for free. read more

Typically I'm not one to post reviews but felt I should share. I was getting my nails done for a wedding out of town. Went in for a gel manicure on a Wednesday and the wedding was on Saturday. Very clean and updated place, but that's the only real positive. The nail tech. Was attentive and detailed however, one major issue: I told her my nails grow very fast and to please cut my cuticles. As she was cleaning up my nails she was pushing back my cuticles a bit but not cutting them. I asked her again to cut my cuticles and she did not. She explained that I'm probably used to going to 'other places' where they do this and explained all the reasoning why they do not cut cuticles at their salon. I understood her reasoning and agreed, but I knew my nails would grow out extremely fast and there would be a huge gap between the gel and my cuticle. By the wedding, my nails were already noticeably grown out (by other bridesmaids). I'm at 6 days now since I got my nails done and just as I thought, my nails look like they have looked after 1.5-2 weeks when I go to the 'other places'. The worst part is I paid $51 with tax, about double the price when I go elsewhere. I'm taking off the gel myself today as it looks really bad. Again, clean place with cute decor, but be ware, if you are used to having your cuticles cut down and your nails grow fast, you will have a huge gap in your polish right away. read more

I wish there were more places downtown for nails. Unfortunately, this place is all we could find close to the hotel. We went as a group for a bachelorette party and I had a bottle of wine with me. We ended up not opening it and I left it there on accident. I didn't realize I left it until after closing so I went back the next day when they opened and it was gone. The front desk guy blamed it on the cleaning crew but offered nothing for his cleaning crew taking something that didn't belong to them. My pedicure also started chipping within 5 days. I feel like for the price you pay for their services they should at least last a full week. I live in Austin and I definitely won't be going back here or recommending this business to anyone. read more

After problem after problem I've decided to give this place yet ANOTHER shot. And shame on me. I booked a pedicure with my friend and didn't realize this salon had gone waterless!!!!! What's waterless you ask? They don't soak your feet in hot water, they don't soak your feet in warm water, they don't soak your feet in ANY water. They instead use a warm towel and "wipe down your feet".... boo!!!! What salon goes waterless! I totally get trying to save the environment, however! One salon taking away water isn't going to make a greater difference, and maybe make it an option? Ok rant over, no water, no service! read more

Love this salon. Everyone is amazing there. Lots of personality! A friend and I received mani/pedi services. I also got the IBX treatment. There was leftover crusty product under my nails (because of the IBX treatment), I ended up cleaning that out from under my nails throughout the week following, which resulted in my polish lifting after a week. With my job, to be fair that is pretty normal. I am hard on my hands. My toes just have polish, they still look awesome. Really great salon. I will be back. But if I get the IBX treatment again, I will ask if the product under nail tips is normal. Thank you for an awesome experience Lacquer! I love this place. By the time my appointment was through, I was wishing there were one of these in Dallas! I love the simplicity of the services offered and the atmosphere is SO wonderful - not to mention those pedicure chairs are MUCH better than the massaging chairs you normally encounter. My techs (Roxanne and Kim) were INCREDIBLY friendly and easy to talk to, attentive, and offering me bits of advice to help me keep my nails healthy. I would go here again. I started going to Lacquer on a recommendation from a friend, and I'm so glad I did! I was told by another salon that my nails were too damaged to have a gel manicure. But not so! Lacquer offers a treatment called IBX that strengthens the nail and makes it paintable for months to come. So my nails are a pretty pink, as usual. Lacquer has a very involved owner and all the employees are cordial and professional. I was happy to see a former nail tech of mine, Karen, there, and today had the calming presence of Ashley and her expert shellac manicure. The salon is very sleek and the music is cool and not overly hyper. I always leave feeling pretty and refreshed. Parking is free and easy in the garage around the corner, and then just a short elevator ride down to the street level. read more

I would like to give this more stars however my experience with the front desk staff warrants for the 3. I walked in asking if they had any availability at any point in the day, the two women were quick to say no. I told them I saw a few slots open online and they told me they were just booked. Their whole tone was very rushed and irritated with me. I left and ran some errands, later looked back online and as I had seen before there was an opening so I booked it. I called to double check my online reservation was made. When I walked back in it was same ladies from hours prior and in the middle of me trying to explain that I did find an open slot and booked online they interrupted me saying they told me there wasn't and they didn't know what I was referring to. That maybe I booked it at their other location. I informed them no, I have the email confirmation and I just spoke with one of them to confirm as well over the phone. She argued with me further until Finally asking me my name. When she realized I was in fact in there she escorted me to where the polish colors were and the other women started to laugh. I felt very unwelcomed, I would've like to leave but then I would've been charged. The only thing that saves this experience was Leslie. I would like to give this review more stars because she was professional, very detailed and took her time. My gel manicure turned out perfect! And I really enjoyed our conversation. I paid 85 dollars for someone to wipe my foot with a wet rag and paint my toes. The worst pedicure I have ever recievee. Please let your customers know about your process before booking and paying. As an out of towner visiting for the day, I was lucky enough to come across Lacquer. They have free wifi, the best massage and a great selection of nail colors. The best part, however, was the actual talent of the manicurists. I received a pedicure and a manicure and have not had job quite as good as these in a long time. The place is super modern and elegant. I love their selection of polishes. The manicurist did an amazing job with my nails. She gave them a point which no one was ever able to do for me successfully! I love that the ladies here are up to date with current trends in nails as well. I went to Lacquer for a manicure and pedicure because it was highly recommended by a friend. Pros: Place is clean, staff are friendly, and nice products. Easy to book online. Cons: My manicure looked like a child painted it and I felt rushed through the process. The polish didn't last. My pedicure was "gel" so it lasted, but I left with "just ok" feet and toe nails. For the money I spent, I won't be back. I really wanted to love this place. read more

Re- review on my nails from yestetday. Dear Lacquer Downtown , I was most dissapointed.with my results..I did not get the nailexpert i asked for. The person I got was most unhappy to do my nails. She was very impersonable & obviously vexed at my requests to file nails vs using a chemical.to remove product. She insisted on clipping nails vs. Filing them down if too long. She did give me 4 coats of your gel polish which I appreciated . But in placing on nail art glitter, Instead of gently brushing it on, she quite forcibly matted it down with brush, making a mess of my nails. She obviously only had an hour to do my nails. The end result was nothing short of crap. Then, to be charged $70 was an outrage. I didn't mention my frustration when paying because I don't do well with public confrontations. I was in a uncomfortable situation...I was going to let this go, until, you texted me for a review. So, I decided to review.. The girl, Amy , who took all my requests via text , had all my requests ...I was then told she didn't know since she was new & only a receptionist . Well, you shouldn't have her answer your email... all in all, I'm shocked you keep customers.
