Bf made a 2 pm lunch reservation for us today and we pulled up and was welcomed by the most lovely gentleman!! What a spectacular winery this is and we love the Chardonnay! The grounds are so beautiful and it's a perfect location for wine and a gluten free lobster lunch! We chatted about wine and he's so knowledgeable and fascinating!!

Such an amazing experience and even better wines!! A must stop in the area! Really got to know the brand and the people behind each bottle.

The Stephanie Herman Show was back again to scope Ladera Vineyards. What can I say, but this was and always is a special treat. Arriving at the sweet humble home was like going to visit family that you love. Being treated with care and good wine, what more would you want. Ladera prides themselves on understanding the land and the best dirt to grow great wines - each area they own specializes in producing the best wine for that area. Each variety of wine tasting we had came from their different properties - each lovely. If you have a chance make an appointment for their personal wine tasting - let them know The Stephanie Herman Show sent you.

We had the best experience with our host Andrew today at our tasting. He was so personable and knowledgeable about the history and all of the wines at Ladera Vineyards. The wines were excellent and we loved the one on one tasting experience today. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Napa Valley. Top notch wines and customer service, what a gem! What a lovely place and a highlight of our Anniversary trip.

If you're looking for a personalized vineyard experience, splendid wines from Howell Mountain, knowledgeable and friendly staff, look no further than Ladera Vineyards! My cousin who is a member reserved a private tasting on a Friday morning, and we were the only clients the entire day. We could stay as long as we wanted, and enjoy ourselves we did! We appreciated the trivia, great hospitality, and tour of the estate with our host Russ, Director of Hospitality. Especially on a Friday before a holiday weekend, he thoroughly explained the tasting menu, what to look for when tasting each wine, and the different highlights of the vineyard. The views are spectacular, especially the grassy lawn behind the tasting area. My favorites were the Rose, then the Malbec, then the Chardonnay. Portable bathrooms are available behind the barn and are very well-maintained. Water can be given upon request.

The tasting room, so cool for larger groups.

We went for a private tasting at Ladera's location at Brasswood Winery and were so impressed first by the delicious wine, the modern tasting room and caves, but also by our gracious and knowledgeable hostess Jan Spitzka. We had friends visiting from SoCal and neighbors with us and we really enjoyed the experience and we look forward to coming back and tasting more of their refreshing Sauvignon Blanc and the absolutely jammy Pillow Road Pinot! Thanks Jan for a great visit and a chance to see something different. Well worth the trip. Cheers!

*********************** 782 ************************* Ladera Vineyards is the home of estate grown and produced hillside Cabernet Sauvignon in Howell Mountain Appellation. Their beautiful historic 1886 building was restored and renovated stone winery, they make their wines from the top floor for crushing, to first floor for fermenting, and than store it in the underground barrel caves. All Ladera wines are aged for about 2 years in French oak barrels tucked safely in their underground caves, where they are racked by gravity as often as taste determines. Their renovation includes almost 18,000 square feet of caves dug into the rock, where they store all their wines. I love that cave! It's a longer drive to get here, but the drive is stunning this fall season, leaves changing color, relaxing, and I feel as I was some place else rather than Napa Valley itself. Beautiful estate, tasting tour is about 1.5 hrs to 2 hours, you need to call in advance for RSVP, because Ladera doesn't open to the public. - 2008 Ladera Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon - 100%cab. - 2008 Ladera Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - Blend: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec, 3% Petite Verdot - 2008 Ladera High Plateau Cabernet Sauvignon - 95% Cabernet Sauvignon , 4% Malbec , 1% Petite Verdot - I couldn't stop drinking this blend! - 2009 Ladera Howell Mountain Malbec 100% Malbec - I dig this wine. - 2011 Ladera Sauvignon Blanc Howell Mountain - Saugvion Blanc for only $25 per bottle, this was crisp, green apple,, beautiful nose, and such a bargain. I love it. I also took my friends here for the recent harvest party at Ladera Vineyards, what an amazing event. The winemaker was there to chat with you at your table. The delicious food was catered by Smoke Open Fire Cooking, whole roased pig, wild turkey, beef, salad, salsa, melons, cookies, and a live Mariachi band; and all the best wines that you can drink. The grilled meats were stunning piaring with Ladera wines, and the harvest party was complimentary for members, and $65 per person for guests. It's STEAL for the high quality of food and wine Ladera served. All my friends enjoyed the harvest party and all said it was the best parties that they've been too. Natalie was so good to us. She toured us the estate, she told us about the history of the winery and served us some seriously tasty wines. I highly recommend this Ladera wines to you.

Ladera is one of the oldest wineries on Howell mountain dating back to 1886. It is a simple, unassuming property with an old stone building an a sprawling gravel patio. Make an appointment for a tasting and sit outside on the patio, enjoy a couple of their wines and spend some time outdoors soaking up the sun. I think Angie was our host for the tasting. She was great! We could take as much time as we wanted and there was no pressure. She knew exactly when to come back out and entice us with her knowledge of the area and the winery to try the next wine on the tasting menu. Ladera's Cab an Sauv Blanc are amazing. Their wine club is pretty fantastic as well. I signed up for the Proprietor to get 6 bottles shipped twice each year and 15% off purchases (there's also the Patriarch for 12 bottles twice each year and 20% off). Bonus - there are a couple rows of malbec vines planted right next to the patio...being that it was harvest time, we got to try a couple right off the vine.

You start by checking in at the bottom of the hill. You then take the gondola up to the winery where you'll start with a white wine. We then proceeded to go on a walking tour where we were able to learn more about the long history of Sterling Vineyards. Along the way we were able to take in arguably the best views in all of the valley while enjoying wine that started from grapes that were grown in the vineyards below. We enjoyed our time in the family friendly section but there is a private and secluded section for a 21+ crowd.

On a Friday, by way of the east bay, we made our way to Sterling Vineyards. Parking is ample. Check in is at the front upon entering along with the gondola and a shared restroom with individual stalls. While checking in for our chosen experience, we received our drink rings and tasting menu. The gondola is to left of check in, where we proceeded to after using the restroom (to the left of the gondola entrance). The gondola experience was quiet, smooth and scenic. At the gondola's end is the entrance to Sterling Vineyards. You are met with breathtaking views and vintage bells that ring every 15 minutes. The current gondola is the third installation since the vineyards opening. The installation occurred following the fires in 2020 that burned majority of the vineyard and its estate. At the first tasting, you receive your glass for majority of the tour. Here is where the ring received at check in goes on the stem of your glass. The gentlemen at this station are incredibly funny and was a treat to engage with. The older gentleman sung to Ashanti's sister for her birthday along with Zach Bryan. I'll be back for the oyster event in August, told him I'd like a song for my birthday - he said he'd be there. Can't wait! Wish I got his name...you know who you are! The tasting tour is self guided. Our experience was a tasting of six with the first three wines provided while walking, the last three were provided on the terrace with our charcuterie. Diego was the absolute best. He shared a lot of himself in the experience which I welcomed, he truly personalized our experience allowing it to be more authentic than business orientated. STERLING PLEASE START TO BOTTLE AND SELL THE BLOOD ORANGE HOUSEMADE JAM...PUHLEEZZZZZZ!!!! Kudos to the new chef, hers or his ingenuity is brilliant. We did not want the jam to end. The blood orange housemade jam is a sweet citrusy, blood orange jam with heat. It is the perfect ying yang pairing for anything and everything. Seriously! I'm SO EXCITED to see what else the amazing, newest chef of Sterling Vineyards has to offer...I'm ready to indulge in your imagination on a plate. Need a volunteer tester...I'm her!!! At the end of the tour (where the first tasting began), is a set of stairs directly in front. The stairs led to the Wine Gift Shop where there were wines, candles, cutting boards, assorted glassware, travel mugs in an assortment, edible goods, candies, tasting rooms, water fountain and restrooms. Here is where I signed up for membership with Sterling. The Sterling Vineyards Membership offers four membership tiers ranging in price of $185 to $400 per release. Releases occur five times a year (Feb, Apr, Jun, Oct, Dec) and members are required to honor three of the five release dates per year to maintain membership. Each release is customizable with the exception of a purchased gift membership. Shipments can be shipped for a flat rate ($25) or picked up. Pick ups offer access to ten complimentary tastings (for up to six people) in a tasting room and/or a walking self guided tasting. Birthday, anniversary, girls trip, boys trip, just because (as we did) any reason is a great reason to come, visit, experience the landscape, staff, service, food and winery of Sterling Vineyards.

Romeo holds a special place in our hearts because we visited them a little over seven years ago. During that experience (which you can read about in my previous review - if interested), my wife and I had a grand experience with former Business Manager Emma, who administered the delicious tastings. Fast forward to the present, we looked forward to enjoying a glass of their finest red before finding lunch. Upon entering the walkway, we were enthusiastically greeted by an employee named John who quickly ushered us to a vacant table for two. My wife had a slight reaction to the beautiful flowers that were in full bloom. Out of the kindness of his heart, John provided my wife with a bottle of Pure Leaf tea that calmed her allergies. We told John that we were interested in enjoying a glass of red, in which he quickly ran off and returned with a bottle of 2009 Eugenia Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon doing the swirl and sniff test (sounds dirty doesn't it?), I knew that we were in for a treat. Since we were both in dire need of a meal, we sadly could not continue the party. However, we will make a return visit in the near future to enjoy a full tasting experience!

They were already closed for the day, but Jarred was kind enough to let us have a seat in the patio and a few sips. He was incredible, and gave us a lovely experience for the few moments we spent there. I would use the word "cozy" to describe this location -- perfect for couples or groups to enjoy. It's got a very homey and intimate vibe, which I have to say I sometimes prefer to the large mansion/castle wineries. I definitely would love to return for the full tasting, although the detour was enough for me to purchase a bottle of their Rosé, and my friend was very close to buying the Muscat, both of which I recommend.

It was around 5pm on a Thursday and we were the only ones around. The tasting cost $40 for 6 pours, starting with a rose and ending with a Cabernet Sauvignon. I am not very fond of reds but all the ones that were on the tasting menu that day were very good. The rose was my favorite. I was talking to the owner and he mentioned that he prefers to be out making wine instead of pouring and I can see that. Also, the pours were very tiny. There was not much information shared about the wine etc, he left the bottle with the information side turned towards you to read up on your own. The place itself is beautiful and it used to be a hardware store. It's right next to the city hall and across the street from the police station.
