Located on one of Paris's most famous streets, Champs-Élysées, it's very easy to find. Skip the restaurant, skip the dessert counter. Find the bar located at the back of the dessert counter before entering the restaurant. This is the way to go! The trendy bar area has all the drinks and dessert you could want and a food menu as well. We had attentive service from a very kind bartender and ate some incredible macrons. We asked him to recommend his favorite macron flavors and he did not disappoint. ... But you can't come here without getting their hot chocolate. This is literally the best chocolate thing I have ever had. Not the best hot chocolate - best chocolate thing, period. It's indescribably decadent, my husband and I were glad we shared one. Laduree is what bakery dreams are made of. It is the mot beautiful bakery I have ever seen in my life. Marble floors, hanging golden angels, and bakeries wrapped or laid out in pastel rainbow colors. I heard this bakery is currently being remodeled but I'm not sure how it could possibly get any better. I wouldn't call this place snobby because the people were really polite, until I tried to take a picture and got scolded. :D While in Paris, I visited a couple of other Laduree shops and each of them are unique and pretty in their own way. Ok, so I tried the large raspberry macaron with raspberries and it was delicious. The strawberry cupcake had an actual lychee inside the cupcake and it was really good too. The macarons are all really good and the melon one tastes like buttery melon HEAVEN. If you're heading to Paris, and most likely you'll be on Champs Elysees, stopping here is a MUST. If at least, for a drink and snacks! It's a block from the Louis Vuitton store, on the same side of the street. We were looking for Laduree, but found it by accident! What is this CA-yooot mint green windowed place!? The hostess is very sweet and helpful. It was packed, but we were seated within 7 minutes for a party of 4 people. And yes, the hype on the macaroons is well deserved. Divine. Creamy. Delicious. Very fawncy! Although Ladurée is seemingly plastered all over every road, boulevard, shopping mall, and Versailles Palace in Paris, I found theirs to be the most well-crafted and satisfying macarons of the lot. Each bite featured incredibly robust flavor, and the variety of options were plentiful and interesting. It seems to be a recurring problem with macaron sellers to have limited, "safe" flavors. They were exceptionally fresh and chock-full of delectable cream. While it might be more fun to try a few macarons at several distributors in Paris, I would have been perfectly satisfied to go all in on an 18- to 36-count of Ladurées. The cherry and vanilla bean varieties were my favorite. The Champs Elysées location is apparently their flagship and features a charmingly decorated interior that is a pleasure to view while you're waiting in a rather long line. Don't worry if you miss that one though because they'll likely be set up in some random museum, subway station, or bathroom you end up in in Paris. Actually now that I say that out loud, if someone tries to sell you macarons in a bathroom, maybe decline and find another bathroom. read more

I can't help but give Laduree 5 stars. My friends and I arrived on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and of course the line was already out the door. We patiently and giddily waited in line (which took approximately 20 minutes to get in and out) for their infamous macarons! They passed out a little pamphlet indicating which flavors they were currently offering to maximize efficiency (props). I went through the list and saw the regular ones such as pistachio, vanilla, strawberry, etc, but the seasonal flavors actually caught my eye. I knew that I didn't want to spend too much money in one trip knowing that I would be back in the near future and be visiting other macaron shops. I decided to get 3 macarons: Lime Basil, Pure Origin Chocolate from Peru, and Strawberry Poppy. The Lime Basil flavor was so unique that I had to get it and I'm really glad that I did. The contrast of the sweet cookie flavor with the slight tartiness of the lime and extra greatness added with the basil made for the most delightful combination. The Chocolate macaron tasted like the most decadent brownie but in macaron form! The chocolate was so rich and the cookies had a great "chewy" texture that I love from my macarons. I would definitely get this one again! The Strawberry Poppy macaron was also incredible. The cookies had a great sweet and fruity flavor without being overly sweet and the middle portion tasted like fresh jam. This is another one that I would highly recommend! The quality of the macarons is fantastic and even though they come at 1.90 euros per macaron, it is well worth it. Definitely get the seasonal flavors! Sorely sorely disappointed with Laduree and I wanted so much to love them. I love Laduree in London and was so excited to eat at their flagship store in Paris on the Champs Elysses. We were seated soon enough, the annexe restaurant was almost full at 9:30pm. But 90% of the customers seemed to be having just coffee/ hot chocolate and macaroons. Their food had been heavily recommended to me, by multiple friends and foodies. It was cold and raining outside, so we ordered a cappuccino and hot chocolate. I ordered a combination of warm foie gras, scallops and 2 macaroons. And 2 desserts separately. Our drinks arrived in about 10-15 minutes. But my first course of foie gras took more than 45 minutes to arrive from the time I placed the order. Quite a long wait for something that doesnt take long to plate up. The foie gras was served cold as was the toasted brioche with it. Both were unusually stuffed with bits of fruit, that was an unusual but interesting flavour. The scallops as a main course was a really tiny portion and just about average tasting, nothing great. I had asked for nonfruit macaroons (pista / rose etc) but what arrived was passion fruit and lemon. Both quite tart. I hate passion fruit, so he told me that it was tart. The baba au rhum was too bitter and too heavy on the alcohol, that we couldn't even have half of it. The coffee eclair wasn't bad. The hot chocolate and coffee were the only truly good things. Service was pleasant, but horridly slow. Looks like they are only doing well because of their name. Only go here if you want a long leisurely chocolate break, otherwise, avoid it. read more

Oh. My. Goodness. Though I'm something of a sugar-holic, I've never been one to go ga-ga over macarons. These, however, are well worth going ga-ga over. The texture of the cookies and the perfect, ooey-gooey filling are just out of this world. While on our honeymoon in Paris, my new husband and I definitely consumed quite a few of them. So good. We also stopped in for dinner one night while walking along the Champs Elysees. We were early for the 44 euro three-course menu (I believe it starts at 7), but there were still many enticing options. My chicken and mushroom in a croissant with mushroom sauce was just fantastic...fresh, warm, and savory. Unfortunately, it was tough to completely enjoy as we were seated upstairs in a corner of the restaurant, which smelled very strongly of urine. I understand that the building is old, and there may be no way to fix this...and I wouldn't even mention it if it didn't almost ruin my dining experience. If I came back I would definitely request to sit downstairs. Back to the macarons. I hear that a store will be opening in New York City on August 22. Guess who will be visiting NYC from August 20-24? Or maybe just desserts and tea. There's also a line for take away. The line for that is pretty long. I highly suggest to be seated and order your desserts so you don't have to wait in line. Okay, okay... I guess I understand the hype about Laduree macarons now! Came here for brunch and macarons. The brunch was pretty good, definitely on the pricey side, but a great option for dining if you are in the area. Wish I could have done the pre-fixe brunch, but it didn't start until 10a (I'm pretty sure it wasn't noted on the site, but I could have missed it). The macarons are awesome here. I loved almost every one that I got. The texture is divine. My favorite was definitely the vanilla one. Everyone I know who has travelled to Paris has always raved about Ladurée, and of course, I had to check it out myself. I first visited Ladurée at their flagship store on Champs-Elysées. This location is very classy inside and out. Once you enter the boutique and take one look at the amount and their variety of macarons and other pastries, you will feel like you died and went to dessert heaven! Ladurée's colourful display of macarons is mesmerizing. With 18 different flavours, I was tempted to get one of each because they all look so pretty, but I knew I would not be a fan of flavours like liquorice and ginger. I am also not into anything rose-scented but I did try rose because the server recommended it. I am sorry to say...I wish I did not take his suggestion. Even my boyfriend could not stand another bite of it, and he is not a picky eater. It tasted like we were eating perfume... Our favourite, by far, is the salted caramel. It was simply amazing. We also loved all the chocolatey, nutty, and coffee-flavoured macarons, while we found the fruity flavours were too incredibly sweet, but the strawberry candy guimauve was pretty good. Macarons are expensive wherever you go. Macarons in Paris (or should I say everything, really) are even more expensive compared to Canada. We definitely expected this before travelling to Paris so even at 1,85€ a piece, we had to give Ladurée's macarons a try. To those visiting Ladurée for the first time: After greeting you, you server may ask which gift box you would like for your macarons. Their gift boxes are lovely but they cost extra. They do not explicitly inform you that you can purchase their macarons in a regular macaron box, which is still pretty with their signature pastel green colour. I personally do not see a need for extra fancy packaging if it is only a gift to yourself and it will be devoured the moment you step outside. ;) (On a side note, if you are visiting Ladurée for their macarons, you must also visit Pierre Hermé. Popped in here during a shopping trip on The Champs Elysees last weekend. Its a very fancy (read: expensive) place to sip on cocktails and nibble on macarons, but that's kinda what makes it charming. We sat at the bar out the back and both ordered the Cocktail Macaron combo - hubby ordered the coffee one, I ordered the Rose one. We were both super happy with our choice! Both cocktails were very creamy and delicious (don't attempt ordering these with a meal because they are very filling!) and the macarons were totally on point, as is to be expected from their flagship item. All in all, it's a little exi, but it is a genuine French cultural experience, kinda like high tea at the Savoy when in London... well worth doing! read more

After doing some research for the best macarons in Paris, Laduree has come up on my search. Apparently, people back in the states would order macarons from here! The macarons are way too sweet and are not really distinct from one another. The flavors did not stand out. After having one, I didn't really care for another. The restaurant that is located upstairs had some tasty dishes but overall it was just ok. Overall, skip this place unless you like super sweet macarons. I've always thought of this place as a tourist attraction. Macarons at some point were my favorite dessert. I love how the shell is just breaks apart to a softer texture, and I love the filling in the middle. I just ate so much during those times, that I just got over them. My cousin wanted to come here, and I thought "Hey I'm in Paris, might as well try some." I only went in the bakery portion of this place, and the inside is beautiful. Lots of green and gold. It basically looks like a Parisian place for sweets. When I went the line seemed long, but it moved along quickly. The workers know English so it made my time there pretty easy. They're nice enough to let you pick which box you would want your macarons to be stored at. If you buy four or more, you can get boxed packaging. Less than four, they put your macarons in a bag. Went home and tried one immediately. I finally understand the hype. It was the most perfect macaron I've ever had, and no other macaron compared. The texture was so freakin fluffy, and the flavor was so aromatic. My favorites were any of the vanillas and the rose. I did not really like the icy mint one though the texture was perfect. (sorry for the hip hop reference) When I visited Paris my wife and I made the conscious effort to visit Lauderee. It did not dissapoint. This particular location is at the Champs Elysees.Down the street you have the Arc De Triomph and trendy shops. When we got there, the line was out the door. Pretentiousness and snoberry was so thick in the air you can smell it. It didn't matter because once you set your eyes on the those beautiful, tantalizing, colorful delicatables all of the uneasiness goes out the window. All I can think of was how good it will be once those macaroons touch my lips. Words are unable to describe how good their Macarons are. If I were to rate Laduree based solely on the visual aesthetics of it, I would give it 10 stars. The store and cafe outside are decked out in seafoam green and the long line of pastries are quite a feast for the eyes. The way each pastry and cake glistened seemed almost too perfect to be real! Le bf and I love sampling through different macarons wherever we travel. So here we chose the coffee, mint, tonka, and the peach. The coffee was our favorite because it was the most interesting and you could get more than 1-note in the bite. Although other macarons were still solid and hit the crispy, chewy, and creamy textures, none were memorable. But bonus points for not being too sweet! Of course I had to try the macarons since that's what they are known for the most. This is about as fancy-pants (is that how the French say it?) as it gets. Even when they bring the coffee au lait out it's a major presentation. Everything - from the table papers to the napkins to the menus - I wanted to take a menu home with me - are extremely high quality and make you feel like you are much richer than you are. As for the food, I got the simple scrambled eggs and bacon which, unfortunately, looked great but tasted only ok. This of course is the greatest of great in the macaron world, so we had to try it! This is also the flagship, original location I believe, on the legendary Champs-Elysees. The shop is a large one, as I believe it's attached to a restaurant and also sells ice cream, and an incredibly large amount of desserts other than macarons. I enjoyed the theme of many of the macarons, tying them to famous French figures. It adds to the Frenchness, which we Francophiles love. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the macarons, but enjoyed Pierre Herme more. The macarons at Laduree had a distinctly softer texture than most macarons I've had. Still the tiniest crunch, but was more memorable for its soft, yummy, soft deliciousness. We had: Pistachio - yummy! You can definitely taste the pistachio. Probably our favorite one. This place is all about the hype and the packaging. There was an older French lady outside who was struggling to open the door, and no one came to help her. The line for take out is in a very narrow hallway, with all of the macarons and other pastries on display. They look pretty nice, but the packaging looks better than the macarons. We tried a few different macarons, and they were alright. The shell of the macarons were soft and delicate (good) when first biting through, but the filling and the finish texture felt too chewy - almost rubbery. Imagine chewing up a tootsie roll until it's very compressed, and then biting through it. Something like that. Also, the jelly macaron was terrible. I also never understood the attitude from the staff about buying just a few macarons at once. If you don't want me to buy just a few, then don't price them individually. Living in New York for a period of time going to Lauduree was and is one of my favorite things to do, but there is an emotion like opening a gift on christmas morning that only the Paris store can bring. Are there better options for a macaroon or pastry elsewhere in the city? Sure. Is this venue usually full of tourists? yes. Do I still recommend you go? Of course!! My recommendation is that instead of going in and waiting in line to order your delicious treats only to walk away with an iconic green bag, do the alternative and sit down to coffee or tea. Oder a small or large amount of treats as well as the gifts you had planned to purchase (tins/boxes/anything you eyed up on the way in) and after your lovely tea/coffee service they will bring you the bill and that iconic green bag you so desire. Bougie to the max. This place is everything you'd expect it to be: ridiculously expensive, touristy, and overpacked. But you have to come, at least for the experience. I've been to Laduree in NYC, and it was nothing comparable. I came for an afternoon snack--ordered a tart, a macaron, and a café. The dining space was sumptuously decorated and a great place to people watch. There were girl dates, some interesting man dates, and an angry-looking middle-aged man sitting alone and stabbing his macarons while furrowing his eyebrows every few minutes. I hate to toot my own horn, but as a macaron god, I can easily say Ladurée will fulfill all your macaron needs. The interior is beautifully decorated and takes you to a different world the moment you enter. It is a different experience for someone simply wanting to buy a macaron. We arrived and waited in a lengthy line for 15 minutes before we chose our macarons. They had small and large macarons made fresh with many flavors to keep your palette guessing. They also had a variety of other pastries (croissants, cakes, eclairs, etc). We ended up getting 6 macarons which came out to ~12 euros. We skipped out on spending more money for gift boxes which look divine as ever. The macarons were out of this world. The best ones I've ever had. They were cooled, packed with flavor with the perfect delicate consistency that softly crunches with each bite and coats your tastebuds with a sprinkle of heavenly goodness. I asked the beautiful lady wearing gloves ready to serve me what was their most popular flavor she said salted caramel. So I tried their salted caramel macaron well it's one of the best macaron Ive ever tasted! Delish! And also bought a regular croissant and it was so good so buttery made to perfection. This is the HOME of Macarons! You can taste the perfect texture of macarons - the way it should be!-Macarons are filled with almond bits and flavorful cream in between the macaron sandwich. I'd give it a 5 star, but few flavors (especially the flower ones) tasted like soap. If you're not a huge fan of flower flavored sweets, I'd recommend you to stick with fruity or chocolate flavored Macarons. You can never go wrong with them. I love the interior of this place! I am giving 3 stars for 2 reasons. 1st, once we got seated for tea and dessert we were not spoken to for at least 10 minutes. We were going to leave but waited so long to get in. Service on a whole was brutal in the dinning area. We also asked for macarons to go as it says on the menu you can order from dinning area. He said he would tell his manager but didn't. 2nd, my eclare was good but I could tell was to cold and not fresh. Like its been in fridge all day or longer. I was expecting flaking outside with chocolate soft filling. It was not. We then went downstairs and waited again for macarons which was much better service. read more

The lines for this place are just insane, the macaroons and chocolate really worth it? Yes, but sometimes it's better just buying it on your way back home, because the Ladurée at the airport is always empty. Be prepared because they are expensive and you can't eat only a few, you will need many more. read more
