Having had Laduree in NYC, I just HAD to stop by one in Paris because it's the original and I also love love love macarons. Came here on a cold night while walking down the Champ Elysees. This place is open late which was great since we got here around 9PM. Was seated promptly, although we noticed it seemed like all the non-French speakers were placed in one room and all the French, upstairs. Not that that's a bad thing, just a curious observation, probably more efficient for the waiters this way. Was a little hard to get our waiter's attention but when we did, he was super friendly. I ordered a specialty macaron creation (can't remember the name) but it was rose petal macarons with a raspberry and lychee center. Oh. My. God. It was divine!!! Pricey though at 14 Euros. Boyfriend got 4 mini macarons, classic and very tasty. The only sad part is I was kind of expecting the prices in France for these macarons to be a little cheaper than they are in the US but they're actually more expensive. We shared a sweet pastry filled with raspberries and a lychee jam. It was mildly sweet with a tartness and creaminess. Texturally, it was quite soft. It was a light and tasteful dessert. The line for laduree can spurt in a flash. There were about twenty groups online inside when we entered. Talk about the definition of a tourist trap. I came to this place because honestly if you come to Paris as a tourist or expat, people will ALWAYS bring up how good the macarons are from here. You won't be able to escape Ladurée! I came here when my brother came to visit, that way we would both be able to try them, and being in the #2 most touristy place in Paris the line was loooong! When I got there I learned how freaking expensive these suckers are. We ended up buying 5 small macarons for 8 euros which just felt like a ripoff but we paid for them because of all the hype. I got the 2 raspberry, pistachio, vanilla, and chocolate. Me being the non-chocolate lover I tried the raspberry and pistachio macaroon. Both were incredibly bland! The raspberry just tasted like old jam, the pistachio was just whatever too. It honestly didn't taste any better than a macaroon from any bakery in Paris. I found it so disappointing that the place that both tourists and Parisians alike recommended to me was such a tourist trap. If you want to try great macaroons for a GREAT price go to Cacao et Macarons. The macaroons there are just 1 euro and if you want to take some home you can buy 15 or so and they'll box it to you for FREE. You can't get 15 macaroons for 15 euros at Ladurée that's for sure (I think you'll only end up with like 7 here). Cacao et Macarons has a location near the Eiffel Tower and one in 35 Rue Daubenton in the 5th arrondissement. Don't fall for the Ladurée tourist trap!!! read more

One of the most beautiful restaurants and bakeries Paris has to offer! If there's royalty in the bakery world, Ladurée is IT...just look at all the photos. Bakery: the lines tend to be long, but it moves relatively fast. Presentation of the macrons (what they are known for) and pastries are fantastic! The Macarons are good, but not fantastic. Don't hate me! I would still recommend you to give it a go. My love affair with macarons all started with Ladurée. You never forget your first! By far, my favorite Ladurée to shop at since you are right on the Champs-Élysées. And it is BEAUTIFUL! Not only do they sell their wonderful pastries and souvenirs but they also have a lovely tea room and bar lounge. (Yes, this is their flagship boutique.) What more could a girl ask for? ;) Since the Champs-Élysées is usually packed with tourists, it gets really busy in here. There is always a line but it moves at a steady pace. Depending on who is on staff, you'll either get some friendly workers or straight up snooty bitches. (Yup, true story!) Oh and like most of their other shops (and Pierre Hermé) they don't allow you to take photos. So be stealth like an unassuming ninja, Yelpers! Don't say I didn't warn you... I know there is a debate over Ladurée vs Pierre Hermé but I like to support them both. I mean, why not? In my opinion, Pierre Hermé has better tasting, innovative macarons (that seem to last a bit longer) but Ladurée comes out with some seasonal flavors that I cannot say no to. AND, they do have some beautiful packaging. I'm always excited to see when they come out with a new design/collaboration. Those boxes are great for little trinkets, notes and dried flowers. :) Some of my favorite go-to flavors: - Thé Marie-Antoinette* (Marie-Antoinette Tea): Tastes like Earl Grey (or black tea) with a hint of rose petal and honey. - Fruits Rouges* (Red Fruits): Bursting with fruit flavor! A combo of different berries and oh so tasty. - Cassis Violette (Blackcurrant & Violet): Another dense, fruity macaron bursting with flavor! The French are known for their cassis as well as the small village (Cassis) in the South of France. :) - Caramel à la fleur de sel (Salted Caramel): Rich, creamy caramel with salted butter. You can't go wrong with this one. - Marron* (Chestnut): Oh man! It's like eating an actual chestnut! Creamy and nutty at the same time. Do get this if it's available. - Guimauve Fraise Bonbon (Strawberry Candy Marshmallow): Mmm, tastes like strawberry cotton candy combined with the marshmallow. Sugar crystals are on the outer shells too. If you are planning to bring back a box or two, you can either get them here or buy them at the airport. Macaron purchases prior to visiting Paris: $0 Macaron purchases while visiting Ladurée in Paris: Something like 74.61€. Yup, you did the math right. That's over a hundred US bucks on bougie French treats. Question I need to ask myself: Who am I?! OK, so that last bit may take some time, a few therapy sessions, and could get kinda dark, so let's talk less about me (maybe the one and only time I say this), and more about the macarons. And about that tab. Sure, there was a special gift box in there (you're welcome, Mom) that really upped the price, but for the nice gesture of grabbing a few sweets for some Stateside family and friends, I apparently did a number at Ladurée without really even trying. It's expensive, no question, but pretty much worth it when you factor in things like global street cred and fancy gift status, beyond, of course, the most important element - overall scrumptiousness. These iconic double-decker macarons are "Treat Yo' Self" decadent, surprisingly sweeter than I'd imagined, and come in a rainbow of flavors. My top three are probably Pistachio (the closest thing to life-changing out of the whole lot), Rose Petal (light, floral, subtle), and surprisingly, Vanilla (I know, I know, but I can't deny what my tastebuds are telling me here). A very solid B-team for me would be Iced Mint, Blackcurrant & Violet, and a special, rich Venezuelan Chocolate that was in stock during my visit. There are of course tons of other pastries made and sold at Ladurée, but are largely ignored by tourists (myself included), who go straight for the macarons. There's also a full, sit-down tea room and back-room dessert bar, drenched in Ladurée's signature pastel green and matte gold combo. Everything from said bar's honeycomb-inspired stools down to the simple, white paper baggies for small orders, imprinted with their emblem, is calculated, gorgeous design. There are multiple Ladurées (including one right in my own town of New York, even though I've never bothered to venture there), and while the Champs Elysées location is not the original (that title has been inherited by the one on Rue Royal after an 1871 fire shut down the first bakery at the same address), it is arguably the most iconic, given the chain's modern day emergence as a global luxury brand, and well, the hordes of aforementioned out-of-towners who descend upon this spot daily. As one of these out-of-towners, I leave you with a final tip for those bringing macarons back home. While they are obviously enjoyed best fresh, if that's just not an option for friends on the receiving end of such a gracious, quintessentially Paris gift, you should 1) buy them as close to your departure time as possible (and yes, there are Ladurées in Charles de Gaulle), and then 2) put them in their own Ziploc bags in the fridge once you get back. They are susceptible to contamination from other items (and no one wants leftover Chinese getting into your precious macarons), so it's best to keep them cold and alone and sealed shut. They're renovating their store and set up a tent just a few steps away. The French do everything with sophistication and beauty, their makeshift store was no exception. I was enamored with their pastel colors in Marie Antoinette-esque 19th century decor. My favorite was their violet, chocolate, a close second. Every bite of the fragile violet released an unforgettable taste that turned into a pleasant smell. I inevitably wanted to press on it, as one does with flower petals. The chocolate was airy crisp with light thin sticky fudge, I wanted to smush it between my fingers and lick them. Kristin bought a chocolate croissant and chocolate truffles. First off, I am new to the macaron craze. My coworker (once she found out I was going to Paris) decided to educate me on everything I needed to know about these mini delights. Basically, Laduree is where these originated, and I needed to taste them here. My team then bought macarons from a local joint as a send off, and sweet Jesus were they glorious. Naturally, Laduree instantly became an essential stop on my trip to Paris. I vaguely remember hearing that there was a shop located on the ave des champs-elysees, so when I was done looking at the arc de Triomphe, the hunt began. When you are walking from the arc, the shop is a bit more hidden, but when I found it, my squeals of delight could not be contained. It is such a beautiful boutique with pretty pastel colors... It's a girls dream come true. When I walked in I was the only patron so I had time to look at all the goodies. Because I don't speak a lick of French (besides merci, oui oui, & auvouir) I knew ordering would be a bit tough - unless I wanted to act like a caveman and just point. The woman who helped us was incredibly friendly. She instantly switched to her English speaking self when she realized we needed English to communicate, which was nice that we didn't have to struggle for too long. Despite our complete inability to order in French we tried, attempting to pronounce the French name of the flavors and whatnot. She definitely appreciated our attempt and helped correct our French when it needed correcting. So sweet :) We got a slew of flavors: salted caramel, raspberry, vanilla, chocolate, rose petal, strawberry, orange blossom, and Marie Antoinette (a tea-ish flavored one). A box of 16 macarons cost us about 33€ , which was a bummer for my wallet. And although the prices are, well pretty freaking insane, I know that it's because 1. The name and 2. They are DELICIOUS! The Carmel one is bar none my favorite. I don't know how they make them so tasty, but they do. I don't even know how to describe it... It's just heaven. The vanilla was pretty delicious as well. I think that one comes in second place. Raspberry was good as well as the chocolate one. I did come across one (that I thought was vanilla) and it legit tasted like soap. I had 2 other people try it just to make sure I wasn't crazy... And they agreed. I have no idea what flavor that one was... But so far that would be the only one to avoid. The packaging is absolutely adorable, and makes you feel like it was worth spending that many euros... For cookies. The bag is a beautiful mint green bag with gold handles, and the box is circular and mint green as well. It comes with a little Laduree note with the flavors they have and a mini history on it. The real icing on the cake (or macaron I should say) was that the super friendly awesome employee that helped us gave us 2 free macarons, on the house. I think it's because we tried really hard to speak French and didn't just assume they should speak English to us. (Yay for trying!) I think it was a really wonderful gesture and it makes me feel good that although I'm a silly American, my feeble attempts to try and adapt to the French way, was appreciated. Found this place on yelp! I was very intrigued. I entered, ans had to stand in a long, but fast line. As this was my first visit to Paris, I was very excited to try some macaroons. As I got closer and closer, my excitement heightened. I ordered a box of 6. I was a little disappointed with the flavors. I am someone who eats macaroons on a regular basis. We've done a lot of work in researching places to eat and visit on our visit to Paris. We've pretty much tried to avoid the beaten path ... but after reviews by numerous friends, Lonely Planet and Yelp to visit Laduree - we decided this would be our 1 stop to appease all the "you must go here" suggestions from well meaning friends and family. Skip the line and head straight for the empty bar and seat yourself immediately. Coffee ... ahhh coffee. I grew up on coffee, not Americano so the coffee here hit the spot. We did the prix fixe brunch menu and were blown away. Duck Foie gras for Gail and a lobster salad for me. This was followed by some emulsion of egg with shrimp and potatoes. One of the most original and flavorful breakfasts I have and will ever have. This was followed by the macaroons! We taste tested the Salted Caramel against one from Le Notre - Laduree is the winner. Smoother caramel flavor really enhanced by the salt. This is like BiRite's salted caramel ice cream in the form of a macaroon. Orange blossom - so fragrant and delicate. Perfection! The best macarons in the world! On a trip to Paris, we stopped by after reading reviews of Ladurée on yelp as well as on the Lonely Planet guide to Paris. It was a Sunday evening, and we had a good 20 minute wait before we got to the counter to order the macarons. The people working there were really friendly and patiently told us the different kinds of macarons which were available. Although it is very crowded, they take effort to serve every customer with a lot of patience and give ample information. We loved the pistachio, rasberry and the coffee macarons. Though it is expensive, I felt they were really worth it. So go ahead and indulge yourself. :-) read more

This shop is located right on the Champs-Élysées with indoor and outdoor seating. Bathrooms are located on the 2nd floor. Gorgeous window displays that are always changing so definitely check them out. The left side of the shop is where you can order your pastries to-go. The right side is the cafe/restaurant for dining in only. Our group got tea and desserts to relax after running around Paris. Desserts were gorgeous and were yummy. The macrons are mostly your classic flavored macrons so don't expect any real exotic flavors like you can find at Pierre Hermé. Slightly crispy outside and chewy inside, great texture but I still prefer Pierre Hermé. Service was absolutely horrible. We were mostly ignored and I saw several tables come and go because they were able to get the waitress' attention more easily. We would flag several waitresses down for something yet nothing would arrive (and yes, we ordered both in English and in French as well). Anything we needed took about three tries before we received what we asked for. We only had tea and dessert but the whole experience took over 1.5hrs. This is a review of my overall experience at this Laduree location - both in the sit-down and trying to order macarons for takeaway. If you're trying to sit-down at this bakery, be prepared to wait awhile, especially on weekends. My party was seated in the front section closest to the door. Service was slow, not very friendly, and while the decor looks beautiful and ornate, the overall structure of the room felt shoddy and my entire chair/table would shake whenever someone walked by which was very annoying. We ordered a variety of pastries which were delicious although VERY pricey. Then, we wanted to order some macarons for the road and received conflicting information on whether to order at the table or go to the other line for takeaway. We ended up waiting an extra hour because of poor communication between the staff being told different instructions by different people, moving between different sections of the restaurant trying to figure out where our order was. Ladurée is a quintessential fairytale tea time with all the Rococo trimmings. After scouring which possible location to visit we ended up choosing the Champs-Élysées because it's Champ-Élysées and also that it was in walking distance of our last touristy stop. I'd actually ran across a Ladurée shop in Brussels but reserved my actual true visit for my little Paris adventure. Fairly glad I did, but mostly because this shop had all the bells and whistles. The insides adorned in fanciful ornamentation and sweets to boot. All of it so very luxurious. I'll give it 5 stars since I'm comparing it to the Brussel's shop. All in all I'd give it a 4 though. It's really cramped inside with the rush. Prices for macarons are probably the highest I've ever paid for one too, but I don't regret the experience in the least. I unknowingly ordered a rose flavored combo--- the Ispahan and a black rose tea along with a citron tart and Royale tea. The Ispahan is absolutely amazing. It's design reflects that of a rose with rosewater macaron, bits of lychee and a spiral of fresh raspberries sandwiched between cream and topped with a rose petal and another fresh raspberry. The rose tea had surprisingly become my favorite tea and regrettably since I don't live anywhere near a Ladurée. However, I think the black tea goes really well with the rose. The Citron tart was probably one of the most perfect lemon tarts I've had. Nice glaze and very tart. Each pot of tea comes with several servings---maybe about 4 to 6 pending, but I believe it's one pot per person since the cups aren't particularly big. I ended up tasting the Royale tea, as well, which was a bit sweeter in flavor. I don't know if they will actually let you smell the tea before purchasing it, but I suppose you can ask. Ladurée also offers perfumes and containers of their tea though. Sadly, the rose tea wasn't offered that I know of, but they have a display where you can smell the teas and then choose. I think, overall, the price is far too much for everyday, but not a bad treat or a first time taste. It really made for a nice end to day's adventures. read more

These aren't your typical crappy American macaroons! The texture in your mouth between the slightly crisp outside, with the gooey inside makes this one of my favorite desserts. Then when you add the intense flavor of salted caramel, pistachio, or vanilla they reach the "I can go here once a day to get some" stage! Those are just some of the flavors I loved, but they all are good. Trust me I had plenty of macaroons in the States, and now I understand what they are supposed to taste like. When only the best macarons will do... Okay, so I just got back from Laduree. The line was busy last night (a Saturday), so I went this morning (a Sunday) around 10am. There still was a line, but not nearly as bad as in the evening when the Champs Elysee was flooded with tourists. There may have been less people in line, but everyone was very slow and indecisive in picking out their Laduree gems. I ordered two signature boxes of the mini-macarons -- a red one that held 6 and a signature Laduree green & purple that held 8 mini-macarons; an assortment of petit fours to snack on at the hotel, une pain au chocolat, une croissant - - my total: 42.75EUR. So yes, you will spend money -- yes, you will salivate over the beautiful pastry creations -- yes, you will get adorable signature green Laduree bags for your purchases Note: I haven't tried the macarons just yet, the boxes look too cute to open -- and I'm thinking of gifts now. But the pain au chocolat (1.80EUR) was pretty good. One thing to note -- the Laduree bar at the back of the line for the pastries was pretty empty on a Sunday morning. I think I saw a few couples in there just enjoying a cup of coffee and croissant. That may be a good bee line, instead of waiting for the front dining area that's on Champs Elysee. Laudree is a dream come true. It is the most elegant, dainty cafe/restaurant. It's like walking into a fairtytale the moment you open the doors. We were seated in the corner room on the 1st floor overlooking Champ-Elysees. The seat was perfect - right in front of big open windows that allow bright natural sunlight in. The tables are set with the most beautiful, simple china - again, fairytale like. I started with the coffee with Chantilly cream. It arrives in a small silver pitcher with the most adorable little paper cover. The coffee was excellent! I then had the raspberry french toast. This dish was 100% made for me as the entire dish was PINK. The toast was perfect and was topped with fresh raspberries. It came with a side of raspberry syrup and rose cream - again - all PINK. It was a princess dish. Everything was lovely and the service was great. Prices weren't even that bad for what you get. Sometimes places like this you just pay for the name, but the food and coffee was actually delicious! It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday in Paris. When in Paris do go to one of the many Laduree locations and try these simplify delicious tiny bites of heaven.. My choice of locations on this trip would be on the famous Champs Elysées where this antique looking location cannot be missed with its guaranteed line out the door, rain or shine. This 150 year old location just oozes of old world elegance and creates an atmosphere that takes you out of Paris 2013 and transport you into Paris 1880, not only with its decor but also with macaron specialist behind the counter aptly dressing the part.. The facade of this antique green,gold leaf trimmed building, with beautifully decorated windows tease you as you stand in the rain waiting to be let in but dont worry the beauty continues inside with a side of tantalizing aroma as well as eye candy to go with it. This location is on a busy shopping destination and can almost be lost among this busy blvd filled with hundreds of shops however just like the nearby Louis Vuitton store, Laduree has a line of people eager to get in.. Once inside you must stay focused because you will have a lot of decisions to make for Laduree has so many choices its could take awhile so better to be prepared so once you are acknowledged by the macaron specialists you can get straight to the business of choosing what you want..You will also have the difficult decision of how much you want to spend which determines what size box you will get.. My choice was about a 8 inch round box that cost about 40 euros if I am not mistaken..yes they are pricey... But you can get smaller options so don't get discouraged.. This location is crowded so if you are not one to be rushed I would suggest choosing a less crowded location where you can actually get space and time to choose your macarons.. Now I am not a macaron afficianado but these delightful bites were just simplify a tease that makes your taste buds beg for more..so good that my box was empty way before I got home to LA.. Now once again I am not an expert but although great the macarons at Laduree , I do believe that Los Angeles has a few places that can match Laduree in taste and cost but maybe not with the fancy French atmosphere and must have decorative box. As far as which ones to get you cannot go wrong here and ofcourse everyone has different ideas of what they like so stick to that flavor profile you know you enjoy and you would not be disappointed.. This location also has the option of a restaurant and what seemed like a tea type room both of which I unfortunately did not get to sample on this trip. Unfortunately the dining area was in use for a private business event that morning so we had to suffice with the macaroons, a few croissants and bottles of bubbly for our wedding. This location was very busy on the day we went we had to wait outside. Make sure they know exactly what you want because we were directed to the wrong area. They had a lot of good looking desserts . I got macarons. Half of them were good they other half were awful flavors. I didn't think they were any more or less exceptional than others I've had. The interior of the building is amazing though. Dinner is NOT worth the wait or cost here. We only ate here because everything else was closed or fully booked. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either. The wait was horrendous - for both getting a table and getting served. They did try very hard and were very friendly. Just extremely understaffed for dinner. The most aggravating part though is for some reason people paying less for dessert get to enjoy the pretty tea room upstairs, while diners spending more have to eat in a highly unattractive and cramped area downstairs. Doesn't make sense. Unless they're trying to dissuade dining, but then why have that option at all? The macarons were not as fresh/soft as the ones I've had in NYC, which is odd... but that might be because we came here at nighttime. So definitely come early! Lastly, the only good experience I had here was the rose macaron cocktail. Extremely overpriced at 22 euros, but it was deeeeelicous! And unexpectedly (but pleasantly) strong. Another popular place for macarons in Paris, I went on a stroll on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and came to this place. Although the street is extremely crowded with tourists these days in Paris, if there's one place on the Champs-Élysées worth going into and spending some money, it's this place. The queue here appears to be long, because there's also a lot of tourists that come, so you may need to allow at least 15 minutes of waiting. You can't go wrong with any flavour. The flavours that I got were the Pistachio, Lemon, Salted Caramel, and the Framboise, which the raspberry. My personal favourite is the Framboise, mainly because I really enjoyed the sweet and fruity flavour of the inside. The Lemon and Pistachio are also great choices for something simple. The texture of all the macarons had a nice softness on the inside with a slight creaminess, and on the outside, they are not too rough. All of the staff speak English, and the staff should be willing to accommodate your needs. Overall, if you are on a stroll on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and want something sweet, this should be the place to go to. This place is my secondary choice for macarons in Paris, but it is still an excellent choice. read more

If you're ever in Paris, France, you outta make a pit stop at this bougie dessert spot. It's a must! You can't really miss it either because the line is nuts. Don't frown, it's relatively fast. The servers are well dressed. Reminds me of the costume the workers wear at the Haunted Mansion @ Disneyland. Also, since they know this is a tourist trap, most of them speak clean English for you Americanos seeking questions. One of these little suckers is top $ so choose your flavors wisely. Of course, I'm going to have to say that the pistachio and the green apple are a few of my favs. Let's just say that when I eat these, I take very small bites to savior every centimeter of it. If possible, eat them fresh and if you plan on bringing some stateside, bring me a few! But I do recommend throwing them in the frig. Note: they will not allow you to snap pictures inside so for those of you who busted a paparazzi style, Britney Spears slip shot and were able to post them up, bravo! Yes, it's over priced but how often are you in Paris anyways? If someone is visiting this country and ask if you would like anything, don't be afraid to ask for some Laduree'. They may ask for a reimbursement though. Macaroon, macaron, however you want to call it. Get a dozen and eat every crumb. There are other locations as well, just hop on their website. Ladurée is synonymous with macarons in Paris. If Pierre Hermé is modern and chic, Ladurée is classic and conservative. The decor of their shop is reflected in the traditional flavors of their macarons. A half dozen costs a tad over €10 making it cheaper (€1.70 each) than Pierre Hermé. Maybe I prefer novelty and something that challenges my taste buds because I found many of the flavors to be boring and unimaginative. Rather than complementing the fillings with the cookies, caramel filling was sandwiched between two caramel cookies. I didn't taste any sea salt that was supposed to be in the caramel. Another disappointing flavor was the incroyable amande, which was made to commemorate their 150th anniversary. I liked the almond shell, but the filling was literally just marshmallow replacing the ganache. The red fruits flavor replaced the ganache with jam. I didn't enjoy the textural difference of the fillings compared to the traditional ganache. Despite some missteps, I did enjoy other classic flavors such as coffee, cherry blossom, and rose petals. They would make great gifts if they could only survive longer than a few days. The good news is that they opened Maison Ladurée in NYC, which gets shipments by plane from Paris every couple of days. read more

After going to Laduree and Pierre Herme I would have to say that Laduree is better. The macarons are better, my favorite was the Marie Antoinette which tasted almost like key lime. They were all very yummy and the giant isaphan macaron was amazing read more

Things that happened during my visit at Laduree: 1. Got scolded for taking photos. Whoops, my bad. 2. Waited about half an hour in a long line, surrounded by a wall of ribbons, an array of dainty boxes, and all kinds of dessert 3. Cursed my law school budget/debt as I watched locals order $200+ worth of macarons. 4. Struggled to figure out the flavors, as there were no descriptions in English 5. BOUGHT THE BEST MACARONS OF MY LIFE. (I was so overwhelmed and eager to eat them that I tried paying for them with Turkish Lira. So embarrassing. "MADAM, THIS IS NOT EURO.") These are better than Pierre Herme! It's worth the money. This is a must-see in Paris, in my opinion. read more

I didn't know Laduree has fine dinning too; we came in for afternoon tea and dessert, my husband saw they offered seared foie gras and immediately ordered two plates of those. They foie gras was cooked to perfection and very flavorful, it melt in my mouth and I still can remember the great taste of it now; we also had some macaroons since that was what they're famous for, it was indeed amazing. I usually don't like sweets, but the macaroons here weren't too sweet, yet gave great amount of taste. Service was good as well; next time I'll make a reservation for upstairs dinning because it seemed more romantically. read more

It's one of those "when in Paris" thing... yes, when in Paris, try a macaron, and if you want to try a macaron in Paris, make it Laduree. So there we were, on a night that we were strolling down Champs Elysee after a full day of sight seeing, hand in hand (trying to be romantic), and passing Laduree. I was recovering from a cold and was having periodic coughing fits. So instead of dining in, we decided to just pick up a box of macarons to try. We had a lot of fun picking up our little box of 8 macarons. There were so many flavors to try. When we got back to our hotel room, we brewed up two cups of coffee and began our tasting. I don't remember all of it, but I distinctively remember that I LOVED LOVED the rose petal flavor. It was like ... biting these soft delicious sweet ... rose petals... I smelled the roses. Everything here is overly priced, tastes mediocre, and the service isn't all that darling. If you want to come here just because, then do so at night when it's fairly bare (before dinner hours). Ladurée is definitely the tourist spot to visit if you're in Paris. I didn't get the chance to eat here, but I did however get the chance to stand in their ridiculously long line and was able to order their cute, colorful macarons. I forgot how much they were each priced at, but we decided to get it in a cute box and ended up paying more for it. We chose a cute purple box which could fit up to six macarons, my favorite flavors were the: white : vanilla light green : pistachio the other flavors were a bit too fruity for my taste: yellow : lemon orange : orange pink : raspberry dark green : lime I should have gone back and got the brown : chocolate, since I hear it's the best tasting one. Laduree was not quite as good as I expected it to be. I sampled 3 different macarons: the pistachio one (which was the best one by far), the strawberry one (which was coated in sugar and too sweet), and Lily of the Water (a floral flavored macaron that I felt had too much cream). For those of us that live in the states, I feel that Bouchon Bakery has much better macarons. read more

Simply amazing. There's really no other experience like having a macaron from where it all began. They have an amazing assortment of sweets but their macarons definitely take the cake.
