Definitely a great Parisian place to visit. It's a bit of a tourist attraction but I mean it is Paris. The location is right where all the main shops and things to do are. Definitely a long line but it moves fast if you're just looking to grab some macaroons. The look of the shop is very Parisian antique and a more of a formal atmosphere. Definitely a place for pictures and their outdoor setting looks like a garden in itself. I had Laduree for the first time in Paris years back. I was obsessed with them ever since! I even went to a location in NYC upon my arrival back home from my trip. Moving forward to my recent trip (second time) in February, I was eager to take my family to this location in Paris to try it. My mom who's not a fan of sweets complimented the macaroons. Loveeeeee this place. Always a good stop in here when visiting the city of lights. Ladurée is known for their macarons. Honestly whenever I've gone I need at-least a couple to get my fulfillment. All the flavors I've tried in the past were delicious. Some favorite flavors- chocolate, rose, citrus, raspberry, Marie Antoinette and more. Their lattes and cappuccinos are great to have with the macarons. Rose latte is so fanceé and cute to sip on. Service: We ordered pastries at the counter, and we were served quickly despite there being a line. The person who helped us also gave us recommendations based on our taste preferences as well as what was popular among their customers. Food: We got a Marie Antoinette, lemon, and salted caramel macaron. They were all delicious! The Marie Antoinette macaron had a unique flavor from the black tea, and was smooth, flowery, and complex. The lemon macaron had the perfect balance of sweet and sour that brightened our paletes, and the salted caramel macaron had a warm, light taste that highlighted the rich caramel flavor. However, our lemon macaron didn't have the characteristic macaron "feet," making it flatter and a bit less chewy than our other macarons. Overall: While we did not get the full Ladurée experience and only had their macarons, we were satisfied with our bites. My friend is a HUGE macaron enthusiast so this was on top of their bucketlist of things to do while in Paris. We decided to squeeze this into our last day in the city while walking Champs Elysees. When we got there, we had to wait in line to be seated but it went by fairly quickly and the interior of the store was absolutely stunning. When we were finally seated, we both ordered the rose Saint Honore and I also opted for the rose latte. Unfortunately, they were out of the rose dessert so we were giving the vanilla version instead but it was still delicious! The pastry itself wasn't too sweet and it was topped with what looked like a mountain of whipped cream. But this was a surprisingly delightful experience and I would return! Food/drinks: I enjoyed fresh bread and ordered salmon ceviche poke (fresh fish, good flavors, small and not a traditional poke bowl with some creamy concoction on bottom). The quiche and beef filet looked fantastic (club sandwiches. nut so exciting). For dessert - which is a must - the champagne + 3 macaroons. That was a highlight and my server through in a few extra vegan macaroons!! Service: Very good. Attentive server, who didn't rush us and went above or usual treatment in Paris (eg, extra bread without asking, and a few extra sweet treats). Ambiance: Thé champs Élysée location clearly has some history, which makes it even more charming! I always stop by this place when I'm in France. The lines are long, especially if you go to the one on the Champs Ellseye but it's worth the wait. They also sell ice cream. During this recent trip, the store was closed to renovations. They opened temporary store on the side walk. read more

We had just arrived that morning, and after one museum, we decided we need to walk around to stay awake. Wandering around Champs Elysées, it's impossible not to enter Ladurée. I wish I had been clear minded enough to make a last minute decision and wait in line for the tea time. Instead, in our zeal to stay awake, we opted to get to go treats, which was also a line but at least a shorter and fast moving line. Even for take-away, they were delightful. Deeming the full on desserts to be too messy to carry back to the hotel, we bought croissants and other baked goods, the six-pack of macarons, and a box of chocolates. The latter was destined to go home with us. The pastries were delightfully delicious, eaten within 24 hours. We treated ourselves to the macarons over the course of 48 hours. When you enter, you're given a small pamphlet telling you the flavors to facilitate your decision making. Be sure to ask your server the most popular flavors and their personal favorites. They are happy to share, and it's a good idea to follow their advice. BTW, they don't get enough attention for their chocolates. They are truly fantastic. While I bought the variety box this time because they were out of many items, my normal go-to is to buy the box that has all "16 Royal" pieces. You'll thank me. ;) read more

While in Paris the Laduree macaron shop is a must stop for macaron and non-macaron lovers. They offer macarons in almost every flavor possible, some more common than others. And if macarons aren't to your liking, they also offer pastries & cake slices. You can also grab a table, order tea/coffee and enjoy your treats. The lines although long, move quickly--plenty of time to think about the flavors. And even if you don't know, the attendants are very helpful with describing the flavors. I was never a fan of macarons, until my visit here. The macarons aren't nearly as sweet as the ones I've tasted back home in America. Laduree, however is different, I can't seem to eat enough and they are definitely not as sweet and is no comparison! Some of the flavors they had were unusual and unique...lime basil, matcha, bergamot (citrus), tonka bean (illegal in the US) and even chocolate covered ones. I left Paris only to want more when I arrived home and sad that I didn't buy more. There are many macaron salons near me, but nothing like Laduree!! Whether the food is outstanding or inedible, the service can make or break a place. Unfortunately, the desserts we ordered were ok but the place gets 2 stars because of non existent service. Our server was all laughs and smiles towards the locals and became ice cold towards us (tourists) and just left a sour taste in our mouths. We sat at our table for 15 minutes without a greeting or acknowledgment... I'm not even sure we would have even been served had we not asked the hostess if we could order. We got the snake glare when he approached and when we asked to order a slice of was their most popular cake, he told us it was sold out. There's a lot more competition now, especially with the expansion of Pierre Herme, but I'll always be true to Laduree because I'm more of a classical guy. This place is probably one every girl's bucket list to go to when visiting Paris, so it was a no-brainer for us to stop by here for lunch! We sat on the enclosed patio, so the view made it nice for some people watching except it was raining that day when we visited. Our waiter was nice, and made some nice recommendations for us when we had trouble deciding. My friend got the egg benedict, which is different than the way it is prepared in the US. It's a soft boiled egg, whereas it is usually prepared as poached in the US. I got the salmon egg benedict on avocado toast, and was also caught by surprised how it was prepared. Rather than spreading slices of salmon evenly on the avocado toast, they wrapped it around the soft boiled egg. It was interesting and different, but still good in my opinion. I also got the "Green soup" (served cold), made of puree broccoli and spinach with diced cucumber and avocado. Of course we had to order our pretty coffees and macarons!! Love the desserts: my favorite is the Ispahan. The only thing better than a macaron is a giant macaron. All the fresh raspberries are amazing, and the splash of lychee makes it exceptional. Millefeuille Vanille is a classic, and I've heard it's one of the most difficult desserts to make. Can't say no to that custard-y cream. The classic fruit tart, the Tarte Passion Framboise. Firm crust, light layer of cream, fresh raspberries. Almost too pretty to eat. The Marie-Antoinette Tea is super fun. Black tea with rose petals and a hint of honey, yes please! We also got a box of macarons to go. They're simple, one-flavor classics for the most part, and they're awesome. I didn't really have a favorite, but all are worth trying. They also make an excellent breakfast! I LOVE Laduree. I don't care if it's a chain - there's a reason they've been so successful! Let me tell you about the best french toast I've ever had. This place was recommended to us by Paris locals who were American expatriates and they were spot on. This place has a to go bakery counter, a bar in the back, and a dining area in the front on the main part of the street. We we're seated in the dining area which was a mix of tourists from different places. We ordered a tea, iced coffee, iced chocolate (their specialty), french toast, and something else my friend got that I can't recall. His iced chocolate definitely tasted like good real Chocolate and my iced coffee was delicious. But the French toast, it was so perfectly sweet and soft, it just melted in my mouth. It came with house made whipped cream which paired perfectly with it along with extra syrup. I only used a tiny bit but the bread just fell apart before I could ever chew. The best way to make this happen, while relaxing and enjoying a drink or food: go to the bar, have a seat, enjoy a drink and order your macarons there. You can skip the line, and enjoy cocktails. They have a delicious rosé champagne. We enjoyed fried, cheese, and delicious bread and butter. We then tried out a couple macarons. The bar is very relaxing, and I love the decor. The pictures will show you how charming the bar is. The service was mediocre, and I had the impression that the bartender was annoyed with any customer regardless of nationality or attitude. Just remember, you're in the center of touristy Champs-Elysees, so expect long lines and slightly underwhelming service. I decided on a whim to have lunch here on my last day in Paris. I waited half an hour or so in line, which was not too bad in my opinion. Worth the wait? Mostly yes- I was happy to sit down and enjoy a lovely cappuccino and croissant, in a beautiful dining room. I also ordered the €24 omelette, which included a baby spinach salad which never came. I had them box it up to go, and enjoyed in in a park a little later that day, so not a total loss. I picked out a beautiful box of macarons from the boutique side as I was leaving (tip- if you know what you want, I believe you can order them from your server while at your table). The Marie Antoinette was my favorite, and I can see why Laduree is such a big deal....although Pierre Herme was my personal favorite. It was a tough call and I had to try many! So if you have the time, and aren't expecting the most amazing meal you'll have in Paris, go to say you've been there and take it all in! I love French Macaroons. One snowy day in Paris in early February I wanted to climb up the Arc de Triomphe but when I got there they closed the upper deck. Zut Alor! In my disappointment decided to have some Macaroons. Ladurée is on Champs Elysees just down the street from the Arc, past the Louis Vuitton store. Walking into the cafe my senses were in overdrive. Seeing so many macaroons was truly overwhelming. As I was seated by the waitress I spoke a little French & she assumed I wanted the French menu. Non non madamoiselle ...Je parle Francais on peu. An English menu was quickly handed to me. I was seated near two Japanese girls, having a lively chat in Japanese, one then turned to the waitress & ordered in French effortlessly. Made me want to brush up on my 5+ yrs of French. So lesson learned ... be honest - "my French is tres rusty" "Mais oui, menu en Anglais s'il vous plait" The Macaroons were heavenly washed down by a cup of chocolate. Nothing compares. I really had to let this experience sink in before I reviewed Ladurée. After hearing so much about it through friends/family and social media, it was quite exciting being able to try it. While Ladurée is good, I think it falls more into tourist trap now :(. The line is out door (for all 3 locations we passed) so expect a wait. They have several macaron options, and I sampled 7 different ones. I'm no macaron expert, but one think that is important to note is that the macarons lack consistency- not all macarons are created equal. For ones that we got multiple of, you could definitely tell differences- amount of filling, bake time, overall moisture held. Some of the macarons stuck to your fingers while eating, others were on the crunchier side. Filling was also inconsistent.. some had a lot, some had filling central towards one side, and others hardly any. I understand they are hand made, but for this much variation within one flavor of macaron it bodes some questions. If you are in Paris and never had Ladurée, go for it! Lucky me, I was able to enjoy a true experience at Laduree as my best guy friend had his wedding reception here. With that said, of course we had a wonderful experience from the staff and all. Our 3-course meal presented us with a menu of: Veloute de Homard (lobster soup, corn, roquette salad, confit tomatoes, bacon), Vol au Vent de Volaille Fermiere (puff pastry, chicken breast, morel mushroom sauce), and Ispahan (rose macaron, rose petal cream and lychee filling, fresh raspberries). The presentation and serving was delicate and on point, but the overall taste was just okay. The lobster soup was the most tasty while the chicken puff pastry was a bit on the dry side. If it wasn't for the wedding reception here, I'd stick to just the macarons here. Since the wedding cake was replaced with a macaron tower, we were all given boxes of macarons to take home. The boxes and bags it was placed in was so exquisite and beautiful --almost makes you not want to eat it. Their simple and classic macarons are delicious though!
