Service - 1 Star Ambience - 4 stars Price/value - 1 Star Flavors - 3 stars I had high hopes for this place, but it sadly missed the mark. Its location facing the water is great, but the space is way too cramped and the tables are overcrowded with flatware, sweeteners, condiments, and china. While I never expected the same level of tea service I've experienced in London, I was shocked at the dangerously inexperienced staff, who I watched pour boiling hot tea into the lap of one of our guests not once but twice while trying to set down the teapot. The nearly $80 pricetag is hardly justifiable for hot water and carbs in a cramped setting. This is a cute spot that evokes an American Girl Cafe with a view, but it would do well to better train staff to clear space on the table before trying to set down a full teapot or tiered serving stand and teach them to hold spouts away from customers who are mostly women clad in very thin, delicate dresses.

Lady Camellia at The Waterfront is a small and elegant jewel box along the beautiful waterfront scenery in Old Town. It felt positively Bridgerton-esque, my Dear Reader, from the butterfly patterned china, to the delicate King Louis chairs to the elegant three-tiered trays of pastries and scones. The salon was filled with multi-generations, ladies who lunch, and my dining companion was alas the only gentleman. We enjoyed Tea for Two: smoked salmon & brie and apple tea sandwiches; scones with cream, curd and jam; tartlets and crème brûlée. There are also savory options such as soufflés and English pies and of course, a very diverse multitude of tea. This is a lovely place for a special occasion and of course make reservations as this is quite small. Our tea was unhurried and leisurely and the staff was efficient and friendly. Lady Camellia is really my cup of tea.

Located in Old Town Alexandria, parking can be tricky. There is street parking and garages but definitely give yourself extra time to arrive and park. We had a reservation and was sat pretty quickly but we did have someone running late so not sure if they were just waiting for that person to show before coming to the table and asking for our order even for drinks. Very cute inside and easy to chat during the experience. We did end up asking if we could just put an order first and ordered for them. Pretty easy to follow menu. We all opted for the Full Tea except for one who did High Tea. I ordered the Sakura Sencha for my tea and honestly don't remember all my options as they had combined it on the same tower as my friend sitting across from me so we ended up sharing a little bit of everything. My husband did get the Beef Bourguignon English Pie and that was delicious and hearty. I also really enjoyed the Tea Sandwiches (Egg Salad and the Chicken Salad were my favorite). The Tea was good but very small leaves where the strainer provided didn't really help. Overall, an interesting experience and something I would do again.

Our food tower. Bottom sandwiches. Middle pastry, top sweets.

It's a small but very cute space. You definitely need a reservation for Tea, call it's not listed on open table. Our server greeted us and took care of our special dietary needs like no shellfish and gluten-free. Once we all were seated we all gave our tea order, and everything came out very quickly. I'd go back again

My niece wanted to have a cute tea party but wanted to do it at home. I was on a mission to find somewhere that offered a true afternoon tea experience but to-go. Thankfully I came across Lady Camellia! Nestled in Old Town Alexandria, Lady Camellia is a cute and quaint tea house offering everything you need to have the perfect afternoon tea. As I entered I was greeted by a friendly face that asked if I had a reservation. I let her know that I did not but was there to choose a few items to go. She was very helpful in explaining everything they had to choose from which was scones, croissants, pastries, macaroons and tea sandwiches, and a variety of tea. I honestly was impressed with the variety of options I ended up getting way more than I anticipated but I'm so glad that I did because my niece enjoyed everything! Thank you Lady Camellia for providing me and my niece a great afternoon tea at home.

Extremely unhappy about how I was treated. I came with some girlfriends for afternoon tea. The corners of the table we were sat at were EXTREMELY sharp. My beautiful dress got caught on the corner and ripped and my skin underneath was also cut. I brought this to the attention of the waiter expecting some sort of apology or compensation. I was met with a simple "oh yeah it's really sharp, be careful". Excuse me? I think it's reasonable to walk into an establishment assuming the tables aren't going to damage my clothes or injure me. I noticed the other tables around me had tape of some sort to cover the sharp edges. Ours had none until I spoke up and then she came over with scotch tape to slap over the corner. My damaged dress and cut thigh with NO apology or compensation ruined my experience and my day.

Disappointing experience. I wouldn't say the money was worth this high tea experience. The space itself is very small and cramped! Even though it's decorated beautifully, the tables are so close together and it gets loud so easily. It can get hard to hear the party that you're with. I'm not sure if the staff was untrained or if they just don't care, but they didn't seem interested in giving us a good experience. They didn't explain how the process worked. They didn't explain the menu until we asked, and they didn't go over our food options or what was served to us. I do have to say the tea selection is very good. They have lots of teas to choose from! However, the tea leaves were too small for the strainer so when you poured the tea, there were lots of loose leaves. Overall, I would not return unfortunately.

It was my first time at this place over the weekend and it was a fun experience. So much tea and pastry options! We came a bit later so they were out for certain flavors but they have a big variety of pastry options so you would still get a nice pick. The service and decor is very nice for a casual or event. Their sandwiches were pretty tasty as well. The only downside is that it is kinda small and you would need to make a reservation.

We went to afternoon tea on a weekend at Lady Camelia, and it was amazing! I recommend making a reservation in advance since the space isn't very big, and it was really busy. Everything we ordered was delicious. I was expecting the food to be more of a snack and small portions, but it was plenty filling. There were so many tea options. We went with cream of earl gray and lemon black tea. Neither disappointed. The staff were efficient and friendly. I'll definitely be back again for a special occasion or just to treat myself!

It's been awhile since I've been to a high tea and this was super cute! They go for a pink princess theme and you get to select from a couple of options which is great for people with dietary restrictions like me. I got the egg salad & smoked salmon sandwiches, plain scone, apple croissant, lemon blueberry tart, passion fruit macaron, berry panna cotta with the ginger apricot oolong tea. I liked all of mine but when I tried my friend's passion fruit panna cotta, I wasn't a fan, it was super tart and not very good. It's a bit pricey fyi but cheaper than others nearby. However, some cheaper ones in Maryland though if you're looking for just the experience. But I enjoyed it still!

The location of this tea house is perfect. It's in Old Town Alexandria overlooking the water. The only downside of the area is parking. If you can't find street parking, garage parking on the weekends is $20. The tea house has a great variety of teas, finger sandwiches, and pastries. They were all delicious. I left so full. The price was also very reasonable. It was only $59 per person. The service was great as well. The waitresses for very attentive and refilled our pots with hot water. The only downside is the ambiance. The room is so small so it's extremely loud inside. I could barely hear my friends talk.

I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday, and I 1000% enjoyed the experience! The place is small and cozy, which makes for a more intimate tea experience. It's perfect for a small group, but I wouldn't recommend it for a large party. We both ordered the high tea, which came with an entrée, your choice of 2 scones or croissants, 4 pastries of your choice, and 1 pot of tea. We both went with the beef bourguignon English pie, and it was absolutely delicious--seasoned to perfection! I'm already planning my next visit just for that pie. The pastries and scones were also fantastic. I tried the vanilla rooibos tea, and it was delicious--one of my favorites! The staff surprised my sister with a cupcake and a trick candle, which was a fun touch. Each time she tried to blow it out, it would light back up. It was hilarious! Service was excellent. Whenever we needed something or asked for clarification on the spreads, the staff was quick to assist. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I'll definitely be back!

Had enough nibbles to enjoy with our tea & then some. The lovely leftover came home for the hubs to enjoy.

The owners did such a beautiful job transforming the space & creating something beautiful. The attention to detail is undeniable & really elevates the space. The food is scrumptious, the selections of teas were impossible to choose from (so we're already planning our return visit). The service was attentive & pleasant without being intrusive.

They walked us to our table and was so accommodating. On an extremely hot day like today (103F) it was refreshing to walk into a nice cool and nicely lit and decorated place. It was very relaxing. The parking was off the street and is free for 2 hours. There were plenty of spots available just at the front of the restaurant. We ordered the Whole Fried Flounder and the Massaman Curry with shrimp and for dessert the Magnolia Creme Crepe. I am partial to good Crepe dessert... and this place offered different selection. A plus! The food was freshly prepared and was very tasty. I would recommend trying this place out. You will not be disappointed.

4 stars for the food 4 stars for the ambiance…read more3 stars for the service on the water refills, which was sporadic at best. Last night I brought a couple of friends over to the Sisters Thai in Alexandria ... because I had had good experiences in the past. We were seated at our table of four, and had to wait 20 mins to be served water from the start. That was unusual - and although the restaurant was busy it was not packed, so the delay was odd. We ordered the food which was great - high recommendations for the branzino, the crispy eggplant, the roti curry and the mango & sticky rice. The water service was challenging; at one point during the meal when a server came to do a refill, she spilled the water on the table near the food dishes - apologized - but didn't clean up! (It was not a few drops - it was a sizeable amount that warranted wiping up since our group had to reach over for the food dishes in the center). She took off after right after spilling it - and didn't come back! So I eventually caught the eye of another sever and asked for the water to be wiped down. The evening went on - the meal really noteworthy ... but water was clearly becoming more and more of an issue - and this was critical especially considering that the roti curry was spicy! After yet another 20 minutes of trying to catch the eye of anyone with a pitcher I had to get up and request water from the bar area. So although the evening was pleasant it was somewhat disruptive with this lack of coordination - which is really is a basic of any establishment. I would go back again for the food - although I'm disappointed that I brought friends along to try the restaurant and the service was not as expected. As I write this I want to add that if it was a one-off with a water delay I would understand - but it was consistently overlooked, without a spillage being wiped promptly that started to create a less than satisfactory experience. Thank you in advance to the Sisters Thai for more training for their staff on enhancing the customer experience.

There are outlets thoughtfully placed literally everywhere for charging computers, tablets, phones, etc. My favorite thing about St Elmo's is probably the amount and variety of seating they offer- they have bar seating with comfortable backed barstools, another long high top table (great for small group meetings or projects), traditional tables and chairs scattered throughout, booths, etc. The playlists they use are great, but music is also not too loud (can use my own headphones without having to blast the volume).
