I went with a friend, and we enjoyed Turkish coffee and desserts. The coffee is great, and the traditional style is very elegant. I went with an iced latte, and they were happy to provide almond milk. Our desserts were delicious, not too sweet. You place your order at the counter, then they bring your drinks and food to you. It's a small place, so if you're going with more than two or three people, definitely make reservations. We had to go up the front stairs to get in and out of the shop, and the music was a bit loud for conversation between the two of us. Otherwise it was a pleasant experience. We each ordered a traditional Turkish coffee and an assortment of baklava to share. Grabbed a table near the windows and our coffee was brought to us quickly. I ordered the Mandin and was a bit nervous to see how small the coffee cup was. I expected a strong bitter taste, but was surprised at how smooth and flavorful the coffee was. We really enjoyed the coffee here. It came with a water and I think a Turkish delight candy. My husband thought the candy was a lump of sugar and put it in his coffee which was hilarious. I let him take a bite of mine so he knew what it tasted like. I highly recommend the silky mardin coffee with no sugar and tres leches cake. I got a Turkish bagel with cream cheese also. My friend got the "mixed blend" coffee, and I got the pistachio decaf. The mixed blend coffee was strong; the pistachio decaf had mild nutty notes. We stayed for about an hour and a half - if you know the concept of the Slow Food movement, that's exactly what you get with the Turkish Breakfast. In this fast paced world, the meal taught me: "Take your time, enjoy the food, take in your environment, and enjoy the presence of your company that came with you." All the foods mixed nicely with each other, and my inner child loved making mini sandwiches out of the bread, spreads, and salami. We got rained in, but thankfully we had nowhere else to be. Again, the theme of slow remained true here. We ordered a Turkish black tea, pastries, and Turkish delights. I normally like coffee but opted for a regular Iced Turkish Tea because there was a language barrier and it felt like I was frustrating the lady by simply asking if the tea came already sweetened or not. She had to verify with the barista in their native language, which is no problem, but the body language definitely read agitation. =( I'm not entirely familiar with turkish drinks but always looking to try different cuisines as much as I can to expand my palette. I would have ordered more but there was another random convo between the lady making the drinks and the one taking my order that made me feel a bit...awkward. I was still trying to complete my order but after they finished their discussion, I just left it at the tea. Bummer because the Baklava looked delicious! Parking is street. Pricing wasnt too bad. My tea was unsweetened and actually pretty good! They have some seating and it looks like a nice spot to chill, especially if you are familiar with the culture. I probably won't return but that's based on my own experience. I say go and have your own experience. It may be drastically different than mine. Maybe it was an off day. Oh well. EDIT: I do appreciate the owner for reaching out so quickly to apologize and offer a way to make up the experience for me. I first heard of them when the Real Housewives worked with the owner to do Turkish tea leaf readings on one of the episodes. Now I always make time to stop by when I am hanging out in Old Town. The row house is so chic and comfortable, like visting a worldly best friend for an afternoon coffee. Presentation for the specialty Turkish coffees are absolutely beautiful, but I usually go for a simple latte. They have many delicious pastries to share and I am a fan of the pistachio cake and savory beef or cheese pastries. Woman-owned, locally-owned, and great coffee. Gizem graciously invited a guest and I for complimentary Turkish breakfast service, after we tried to go during business hours and the cafe was closed. We went and were greeted with such warmth and hospitality! The cafe is so calming and decorated beautifully, with Turkish music playing. The breakfast was delicious - from all the dips and cheeses to the different types of breads and olives - we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The coffee and Turkish delight at the end of the breakfast service was the perfect way to end. While walking to our destination, my husband and I spotted Turkish Coffee Lady and immediately got excited. We promised each other that we'd return after our meeting--and I'm so glad we did! Though we were still full from lunch and couldn't indulge in baklava or other sweets, we enjoyed a perfectly brewed Turkish tea, which always hits the spot after a big meal. They also had börek, which looked absolutely delicious--I'm already regretting not trying it! Take me back to this place! My sister and I visited on 7/6/24 in the late morning hours. We had never been here before, and their vast selection made it hard to choose, but fortunately the lady at the counter was patient and was any to help. We ordered an apple tea (think apple juice for adults but 100% better and less sweet) and an iced coffee of the mixed flavored mardin (interested flavor, unlike any other coffee I've had, next time I would go with the traditional). I appreciated that they had samples of the coffee grounds to smell to help you decide what blend to order. The apple tea was so good that we had to order another round before leaving! There are not a lot of spots to sit for large groups, a group of 4 could sit comfortably, but no more. They have a clean bathroom behind the counter for customers to use. I haven't had an authentic cup of Turkish coffee since my last trip to that country over a decade ago and was not disappointed with the Silky Mardin I got at this business.
