Both were done as what we had heard about Pinocchio Furniture Restoration - the work was done by true craftsmen. They didn't just "do it" what they did was to "do it RIGHT." It's only about 30 mins from our house in Petaluma. The challenge is FINDING the place the first time. I think that using Apple or Google maps needs to be accented by talking to the folks at Pinocchio to find out how to do it. we just followed Google, but didn't get there and had to ask a worker working outside his place of business and said we took the wrong driveway. And when we did that we saw a sign that pointed to where Pinocchio was. We had a good laugh! And didn't have a problem when we returned to pick up the chair!

How lucky I am to have found Pinocchio Furniture in Sonoma CA. When we walked in, we met a group…read moreof young men who turned out to be old masters. Their love for their work was obvious. My reason for the visit was to get their opinion on having an antique chest of drawers repaired and refinished that had belonged to my grandmother. The piece held wonderful childhood memories. Over its roughly 100-year life, however, it had become water stained, scratched, chipped, and generally well-used/abused during various family members' possession of it. We had no idea what to expect of a restoration effort. Their obvious love of wood as a medium, their knowledge & experienced skill in woodworking all lent confidence to their encouraging vision for restoration of my piece. They sent pictures of the piece after the stripping and repairs so we could really see the various woods that had been used in it's structure and and original veneer artistry and discuss how the different woods would react to staining and the potential stages of staining planned. They sent pictures again later so we could assess the initial staining effect versus what to expect if they proceeded with the additional optional staining 'halo effect' as had been applied originally - an important decision-making point of no return - an opportunity for which I was grateful to be involved. In conclusion, Sasha, the owner, delivered the finished chest ahead of the quoted ETA and I could't be happier with the result. They are truly a team of artisans, yet, thoughtful and considerate of their customers' aesthetic tastes as well as the expression of the original creator's vision. We recommend them without hesitation for wood furniture that is in need of tender loving care. Jeri

There were 2 holes about the size of a pinky and the cavity is about the size that could fit my thumb up to its nailbed. I reached out to a few folks and got quotes. Given my prior positive experience, I reached out to Mauricio to see if this could be done. I also noticed 2 holes that I'm not sure if it was there when I first got the furniture or if something else bore out. These were about the size of a dull pencil tip but on the underside of the furniture. Mauricio was extremely patient with me upon getting the details as I was considering getting a second opinion from some local exterminators on the risk of another emergence. Eventually, I figured out some details and booked an appointment. Everything was quickly scheduled with Edgar who arrived on time promptly and quickly went to work fixing the 4 holes. By the time it was finished, I could only vaguely guess where the holes were. To someone who didn't know about the holes, it would look almost natural. All in all, this took roughly an hour or so to complete. Edgar was sure to clean up after himself and laid out some paper padding to capture any mess left behind and prevent it from touching the floor. Overall, I was happy with the price and quality of work done.

So I do my research and am VERY selective in who I hire when our house needs work. My wife and I hired Andy Fernandes and Adval and they proved to be the real deal. Andy was *always* prompt - every time he or anyone from his company was scheduled to arrive they arrived early. Andy and his crew were communicative, clearly very knowledgeable, and straightforward, which is to say that they told me *and showed me* what was really happening and not what they wanted to promise or what they thought we wanted to hear. And they followed through exactly as they said they would. The quality of their work was outstanding. We had a few kitchen cabinets that had gotten damaged by the 2014 Napa quake and were looking like they were going to fall off the wall. Andy sent over a master carpenter (he spent years building stuff for moneyed people on Martha's Vineyard, who can be quite demanding) who didn't "upsell" us by telling us one of the cabinets needed to be rebuilt (the build cabinet in their own shop), he showed us in detail exactly what the problem was and convinced skeptical me that a new cabinet built from real plywood instead of the particle board of the cabinets the flipper who sold us the house had installed was the way to go. They reused the facing from the old cabinets, so the match was immaculate. Price-wise, yeah, they weren't the cheapest I could have found, but they were most definitely not close to the high end, they were right in the ballpark, and I figure if I demand quality I have to be wiling to pay for it. And we most decidedly got what we paid for. I repeat again that I am VERY picky about contractors, but I unhesitatingly give Adval Construction my highest recommendation. Our job was pretty small, but I would hire them for a big job in a heartbeat. This is the way construction contracting is supposed to work.
