We stopped here on the haunted ghost tour, and I don't really have a lot to say because it was a quick stop! But the bathrooms were well maintained and good, the lobby area was very pretty and had a piano and music playing, and I got the Purple Drank, which was basically a very grape flavored frozen beverage that was great for carrying around on the rest of the tour.

I'm a big fan of historic hotels. What they may lack in modern frills, they more than make up for with character. We booked the top floor loft for our group of four and it was so cute! The slanted roofline may have lead to a few head bumps but we eventually got the hang of ducking when we got too close to the wall and it added to the authenticity of the room. 0ur room had two queen beds and a small bathroom but plenty of space for all our luggage. There was even an extra vanity space outside of the bathroom. To access this room you have to climb one set of stairs but there is an elevator to help lug your suitcase up the first couple of flights. I liked that it's on Bourbon Street and only a few blocks away from the action but just far enough away that it's quiet. I'd definitely stay here on a future New Orleans trip.

If you are looking for a fancy hotel, this is not it. This hotel is for those looking for amazing history and a unique touch. Every little corner in this hotel is perfectly decorated and has that antique touch to it. The staff that works at this hotel is just beyond amazing and accommodating! We got the 3rd floor Room overlooking st Philip (room 32). I highly Recommend this room. It is perfect to sit outside on the balcony at night to listen to the music from the piano bar across the street. In my opinion, the best place to be on bourbon. It's away from all the craziness and it has the best bar ever across the street.

We stayed in the famed room 21 on the second floor. It's said to be haunted. It's a luxury King Suite with a balcony overlooking Bourbon. It was expensive, and loud, just as you would expect from Bourbon Street. You're paying for the street, the atmosphere, and to be in the thick of it. That's exactly what we got. The room was nice but starting to show some wear. The bathroom was tiny. Like reallllllll tiny, lol. The service, housekeeping and southern hospitality were top notch It's located right on the edge of residential Bourbon St and across from the oldest operating bar in the US, Lafitte Bar. Go there, it draws a huge crowd every night. Get the Voodoo Daiquiri

Racial discrimination, harassment, lack of problem solving skills and poor customer service. Check out time is at 12 but I was called at 11:11 and asked when I'd be coming down. ALL OF MY PAPERWORK AND CONFIRMATION REFERENCES OUTLINE A 12pm checkout! But for me I needed to check out at 11? No explanation needed. I had to be assigned to another room because there was no air conditioning in Rm #30. The second room I was assigned to (Rm #25) was outside entry only. The doors are not fully flushed to the ground, allowing pests and whatever else in room. There are numerous holes in the infrastructure, another entry way for pests. Egress is not maintained on the second floor balcony to allow for guests to pass thru and get to the outside rooms. I was not offered any help with transporting my luggage back and forth thru this hotel. Extremely unimpressed and disappointed with my experience here. All my BLACK PATRONS, be mindful of where you spend your dollars. This hotel ain't it! Do not waste your money or time focusing on convenience and/or trying to gain a wholesome historic experience. I did not have a room with air conditioning. I was transferred to another room with a unit in the wall. However, there were SO many pests. Endless flies and crawlers. I even saw a ROACH. I left with bites and all. When I expressed my concerns, about being extremely uncomfortable, ROBIN told me that she did not have any more rooms and that she would call the manager KEN but "he's not gonna do anything." She kept asking me what kind of ROACH it was as if I work for Pest Control. She let me know that it was a NOLA thing. That the ROACHES come in and out. I kindly let her know that if it's so common then it should be apart of their FAQs or the same place where they claim to offer the "best boutique hotel experience." She reminded me four times that she did not have anymore available rooms. I'm guessing that was her best solution to the pest issue. BUT since they were full, I had to remain in the same room. She offered to have someone check my room and locate the pest, to remove it but I never received an update on that or any of my other issues. Not one time did they offer me any discount or accommodations for my poor staycation experience. I do not recommend.

We stayed on the 3rd floor of this hotel with a corner room with a balcony which overlooked Bourbon St. The view from the balcony was amazing, however, since our stay coincided during the pandemic and about 2 weeks after the nationwide riots, MANY businesses along Bourbon Street were closed or shuttered all together. There were virtually no crowds and very, very few tourists to be seen walking on the sidewalks plus it didn't help that it was rainy and drizzly that particular evening but we had no issues trying to sleep since there was nothing going on outside with the exception of about 4 different groups of ghost tours that gathered at the intersection since the Lafitte Blacksmith Bar is located just across the street. Bourbon Street was pretty much dead. As for the hotel stay, we took lots of pictures and experienced no unusual activity. The elevator is very old and tiny so if you're claustrophobic it may be an issue. The hotel is almost 200 years old so expect it to have an old musty smell but it's not bad. The first thing I noticed when we entered our room was the king size bed with a white comforter. There was a brownish black thing the size of a pea on the bedspread. I couldn't tell if it was part of a bug carcass or what but it was weird. One of the dressers next to the fireplace had a sprinkling of white dust all over the top like a piece of molding had fallen off from the ceiling and gotten all over the top so you couldn't really lay or place anything on top. It's like the room needed a good dusting. The next morning I noticed the dresser on the other side of the room had teeny tiny ants crawling on top of it and some had gotten into a bag that I had placed on top. We killed at least 4 that were in the bag. The mattress was not particularly comfortable. It was on the hard side but not in a firm way (the pillows were nice though). Finally, the bathroom was nice and large and modern. The only downside is that I ran the water in the shower for 15 minutes and it was cold the entire time and couldn't wash my hair. By the time my husband took his shower, the water eventually came out warm, so keep that in mind if you take a room on the third floor. The people staffing the hotel and bar were very nice and hospitable. I can finally say I've stayed at this hotel but doubt I would stay there again.

Hotel was great! He has an old look to it but that's the history of the hotel which I loved! We stayed in a smaller room which was enough space for my husband and I. The employees were great! Ken (I think that was his name) was the hotel manager and was really nice! Only bad thing was that it wasn't any hot water. I was still able to take a shower! Overall we will be back! Very nice place and environment! Ps get the valet parking for $30!

One of my favorite moments was chatting with a gentleman in the lobby who helped with our luggage. We mentioned we were visiting from Pennsylvania, and he shared that his very first job was in Pennsylvania and actually knew our area. It was one of those authentic conversations that makes you feel more like a guest than just another room number. Our room in the older section was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. Housekeeping and the nightly turndown service were exceptional. We also spent plenty of time at the pool, where the staff and bartender were fantastic. The drinks were great, the food hit the spot, and the Fourth of July pop-up DJ made for a really fun afternoon. The service was so personal that one of the bartenders recognized us by name when we ran into her on the street a few days later. The only miss during our stay was the famous Carousel Bar. We never managed to get seats at the actual carousel during our four nights--which is understandable given how popular it is and being the 4th of July weekend. We did sit just behind it. Unfortunately, the service there was noticeably unfriendly and felt completely out of step with the incredible hospitality we experienced everywhere else in the hotel. That one experience wasn't enough to overshadow an otherwise outstanding stay. Between the beautiful historic décor, unbeatable French Quarter location, easy access to everything, and a staff that truly cares about its guests, Hotel Monteleone absolutely lived up to the hype. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

The 2 things I care most about when staying in a hotel is a comfortable night's rest and a good bathroom/shower. The bed in our room was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on in my entire life. It was so mushy that when you laid your head down, you sunk so far into it that your legs were literally 45 degrees above your head. I ended up sleeping upside down in the bed with my head where your feet go in order to feel even remotely comfortable. The pillows were all extremely flat, when you put your head on one it sank so far your face was about 1/2 inch from the mattress. I had to use 3 pillows stacked on each other. I had a stiff back, neck and joints the entire time we were there. The 2nd issue was hot water. The first morning, we attempted to shower, it only got barely luke warm for me and when my husband showered immediately after he only got ice cold water. We stopped at the front desk that morning on our way out for the day and told the woman at the front desk. She said she hadn't received any other complaints so it must be specific to our room and she would send engineering there to look at it. (we were getting hot water in the sink). Later that evening when we returned to our room, we immediately tested the shower again and it was still ice cold. So we went back to the front desk to check if engineering had come. We spoke to the same woman from the morning who acted like it was the first time we were telling her this and she said the exact same thing. I asked if they were going to come ASAP because we needed to shower soon and we couldn't take ice cold showers. She ignored my question and answered the ringing phone. A manager happened to be at the desk and overheard our conversation. He asked what our room number was and said that because of the old building and the pipes the hot water takes longer to get there. He said this was a KNOWN Issue by the staff, management and the owner. He told us to run the shower for AT LEAST 15 to 20 minutes, simultaneously with the sink and it should get hot. He also offered to move us to a different room but when I asked if he could guarantee if we wouldn't have the same problem in that room he couldn't give me a straight answer. We had already unpacked everything and didn't want to go through that hassle without a guarantee. So we went back to the room and let it run for 20 minutes and it eventually got hot. So for the remaining 3 mornings, we had to set our alarms for 30 minutes earlier so we could get up and run our shower before hand. For nearly $300 a night, we felt that this was ridiculous. Old building or not, if its a problem, then either don't put people in those rooms, or get it fixed somehow. Why should anyone be subjected to an ice old shower or an inconvenience to their time because the owner hasn't done anything about it? We visited the hotel Bar, the Bourbon O'bar 3 times during our stay and each time we received TERRIBLE service. None of the bartenders were friendly to us, in fact they were pretty rude. Each time it took them at least 10 minutes to even take our order (by standing there and looking at us and not saying anything). The bar was not busy or crowded any of these times. They would then start making one of our drinks, put it down and make other people's drinks, leave and go into a back room, play on their cell phone, talk to each other, or carry the glass around while doing other things. My husband ordered an old fashioned and the alcohol was sitting in the jar with the ice for over 5 minutes while the bartender carried it around doing other things, causing it to get watered down. When making a cocktail, it should be completed from start to finish without doing other things in the middle. I ordered the Mardi Drop cocktail on 2 different days. The first time, it was actually very good. The 2nd time from a different bartender it was horrible .He also sprinkled probably a tablespoon of cinnamon on top of it (which the first didn't have) which made it nearly undrinkable. I had to stir it into the martini in order to not get a mouthful of cinnamon with each sip. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant Roux because of the bad Yelp reviews - we felt we could get a better breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all unless you don't care about being comfortable or friendly service.

Just be prepared for the wall of noise if you're staying on a Friday and Saturday night and have a room facing Bourbon Street; you will need more than the sound machine and earplugs the hotel provides you. But if you're there to party hard on Bourbon Street at all the touristy bars, then you will be in your element. Depending on the side of the hotel you select when booking your room and the days you choose, you may be able to get away with just a sound machine and earplugs, or you may be getting too old and need to look elsewhere. If you stay on the courtyard side, you should have enough barriers to deflect the nonstop barrage of noise coming from all the bars and clubs on Bourbon Street, especially between Bienville and St. Ann, on a Friday and Saturday night particularly. We had a room on the third floor with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street that gave us a great view and the opportunity to enjoy wine and cocktails as the festivities picked up steam throughout the afternoons of our stay. The bed was wicked comfortable. The set of drawers had plenty of space to put clothes with a small fridge for keeping drinks cool and leftovers from spoiling. The closet space was ample and was able to fit all of our hang-up clothing and our suitcases. There was a nice lounge chair next to the desk to chill if you didn't want to sit on the balcony. However, the bathroom was cramped and narrow with these weird double doors that could cause trouble if you are going to do business in the middle of the night. The water pressure wasn't great either and if you don't have the curtain positioned right then you're going to have a puddle. Housekeeping did come by to change our linens and provide fresh towels every day, which was appreciated. The front desk was very affable and accommodating, especially with holding out luggage when our room wasn't quite ready yet to check-in. And I liked that there was a security person checking people that were actually staying at the hotel to avoid stragglers, random drunks, and transients from entering. I didn't have the chance to use the pool while I was there, but we were busy walking around the French Quarter to really care. Same went with having anything in the restaurant for food. They did have the little mini mart on the ground floor that worked for when we needed more bottles of water that were larger than the complimentary ones. Accommodations at the hotel were solid, but just know if you stay here, you're experiencing the full Bourbon Street treatment. It is always loud at night, especially, on the weekends.

The Davenport Lounge features excellent, easy, accomplished jazz courtesy of Jeremy Davenport and his quartet most (but not all) evenings. The food in the restaurant is excellent (as is the service), and staff throughout the venue and spa are top notch - friendly, courteous, uniformly professional. One of the great things is location - it is a very short walk to the crazy of the French Quarter, but a block away - so you have the safety, privacy, and isolation from the party when you need it, you aren't confronted by it as soon as you walk out the door of the hotel, but you are just a short walk around the corner to everything the Quarter and Bourbon Street have to offer. As an historic building, the architecture and aesthetic is much closer to "elegant old New Orleans" than, say, the Four Seasons (very very modern, almost cold presentation) or, for example, the Royal Sonesta which is smack dab in the middle of the crazy. But the staff at the Ritz were the most hospitable and welcoming set of people I have ever met. The concierge sent me texts and welcomed any requests I had. And the wonderful staff left a sweet treat in my room for my birthday. There was coffee served in the lobby every morning, and warm beignets served in the afternoons. I can't wait to come back to this gem! Thank you all for such a wonderful and much needed experience!
