A gem around CalU. We went in for lunch and had pot stickers for a starter. Cooked perfect and good sauce to dip in. Got the Italian sandwich and didn't even need the dressing. Had lots of cheese and really enjoyed the foccacia bread it came on. My girlfriend got a mango margarita, and it was really tasty! She also had grilled chicken sandwich and it was great as well. The restaurant got busy quick and our waitress did a great job for how many tables she had. Overall great casual place with some nice beers. Check it out for lunch or dinner! read more

This was not the best salad option but honestly why would you order salad on a college restaurant/bar? A better choice was the shrimp plate with lager cheese and fries. I ordered a simple ticket for my family to-go today (2/10/2020). The kids mac&cheese was the a quarter the portion when you dine in, the CHEESE quesadilla I ordered had chicken in it and barely any cheese. ALL of the food was cold, as if it had been sitting there for atleast 30 mins, but that is impossible bc I was told 30 minutes and I showed up at the 30 minute mark. My wife's hot italian had a single pepperoni on it, not sure that counts as meat on a sandwich. Completely disappointed with the food and will not be ordering or dining here anymore. read more

This is a great place to eat and grab a beer. Lots of great selections of brews for sure!! The menu offers something for everyone, and if you are lucky enough to have nice weather, try to patio seating!! The staff is very friendly, and efficient. Some of them are like friends by now!! We love going there for a steak (seriously steak nights are Tuesday and Thursday - you need to go) or just a sandwich or load up on appetizers. Called on Saturday and asked if I could get an out of market game on Sunday. They said yes. I asked if it would be a problem if the game coincided with the Steeler game. They responded no problem. Make the 20 minute drive out and ask for my game. They say sorry we can't. All the TVs are linked. Look, I get that Steelers take priority. But don't make promises you can't keep. Have been eating at Lagerheads for 15 years and have never been disappointed. They have a great selection of Beers including a wide variety of craft brews and always have meal specials. Their wings are very good and the sandwich and burger choices are excellent. Service is always fast and polite although it does get busy when CalU is in. read more

Being located in a small college town, Lagerheads is by far the best spot in town. In the grand scope of things though, it is nothing more than a small town dive bar with a great atmosphere. The owners are always present and very friendly, and the staff (mostly made up of students) seems to have a high turnover rate. This has caused some inconstant food and service over the past 4 years of going. The restaurant is split in half, with the bar being on one side, and the sit down restaurant on the other. The menu has a wide variety, ranging from classic bar fare to a traditional sit down dishes (steak, pasta, fish, etc.). Depending on who is cooking, the food ranges from okay to excellent. There beer selection is pretty extensive, but their mixed drinks are very touch and go. They always have great specials running through sports and college seasons, hosting tons of events throughout the year. Overall, it is by far the best place to go in the area by a mile. I always take my family there when they visit, and they are never disappointed. It's a great college hot spot, not to expensive, and has a fun atmosphere. A little more consistency in the food and drink, and I would be here every week. read more

Cute little college town restaurant with excellent food. Many beer choices and great dining options. The Lagerfries are a must - the cheese sauce is so creamy and delicious! Surprisingly the salads are just as tasty as the rest of the menu! My personal favorite is the portobella mushroom salad. I also love the hot stuffed peppers, pot stickers, and stuffed pretzel appetizers! During Lent there are always great seafood specials. Pizza, pasta, quesadillas, and much more along with friendly staff make this a great pub. 10/10 would recommend!! read more

The service was excellent, quick, and very attentive. The food (prime rib special) was horrible. Because I was with a large group I did not want to make a scene, and I did not want to order something else, so I just ate it. It had no flavor, it was full of gristle and hard fatty areas, was very thin, need I say more? It seriously tasted more like a very cheap cut of steak you would get at a place like Denny's. No offense intended. The experience and service were very well done and for a large group to drop_in on a restaurant on a Saturday night without reservations, the group was really handled well. Lagerhead's is the only place for grown ups to go in California, PA. Sure, there's going to be a lot of college students and yes, there's going to be some traditional "Yinzers" but its clean, has a brass rail to rest your feet on, and you won't have to deal with as many stupid kids because the amateurs are going for 1 dollar drafts of cheap crap beer on Main Street. They also have pretty good grub. The outdoor patio in the rear is a good place to actually have a conversation with friends and get away from the masses while drinking a cocktail. read more

Aloha!!! My wife and I are visiting from Hawaii and looked on Yelp for our first dinner in California, PA. We chose Lagerheads because of its ratings and wanted beer and chicken wings. They definitely exceeded our expectations, in fact this small town eatery beat out some of the restaurants we experienced on our travels in Phoenix and Las Vegas this summer. From the service, to side salad with fresh veggies (no soggy veggies!), to the buffalo wings (which were kind of sweet and spicy), to the main entrees.... DELISH!!!!! We're always skeptical about ordering steak and shrimp at small restaurants in fear that it'll be overcooked or under cooked. Not at Lagerheads! Delmonico steak was full flavored and cooked perfectly medium rare. Shrimp scampi perfect seasoning (lots of garlic) and shrimp was clean and not overcooked! I wouldn't label this as a con but there was a blackout during the later part of our dining experience, but that was completely out of the restaurant's hands. The whole town had a blackout. The owner graciously comped our beers and gave us a discount for the inconvenience. We're definitely going back before we leave. If you're ever in the area, TRY THIS PLACE!!! I was passing through the area and spent the night at a local hotel. Lagerheads was recommended and I saw it had good ratings on YELP. I found it to be unassuming and as described in other reviews half bar, half restaurant. Business was slow the night we were there, Service was excellent, attentive and efficient. I had the Crab cakes and found the to be quite good. Lots of fresh crab meat and just enough filler to hold them together. My wifes main course was just as good. I was recently in Coal Center on business and went to Lagerheads for dinner based on the positive reviews I saw on yelp. It was great! There was a surprising variety of menu items to pick from (not just "bar food" as one might suspect) and my meal was delicious. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Local staple. The 'lager cheese' is the Holy Grail of all that is cheese. The menu has a good bit of variety and they really focus on what they do best - their beer battered fries and lager cheese sauce, pizza, wings, and sandwiches. The dinners are very large portions but they are just okay to me (the pasta is good but I would rather get pasta somewhere else. Same goes for the steak) The salads are excellent and fresh. The building itself has an older world charm and there are photos on the walls of when it was a corner store. They showcase a large variety of Beer Tap handles on the wall that they use at different times during the year. Very nice beer selection and their frozen margaritas are DELICIOUS and very affordable. Flat screens in both the restaurant and bar allow you to catch a sports game while eating or hanging out with friends. Really a nice place to grab a bite, celebrate a birthday, or enjoy a night out at the bar. Especially since it is one of the only places in the local area that offers all three. read more

Love it!!! I've gone to Lagerheads more times than I can remember & the food is ALWAYS spot on. My favorite is the bacon ranch wings which have tons of ranch dressing & bacon bits. I'd have to say a close 2nd would have to be the fries with Lager cheese. I've also been to a couple events they catered for the room above the restaurant & that food was great as well! My friend was telling me about visiting Lagerheads for awhile, so I caved in and decided to go. First, the parking is just a gravel lot across the building, which was very small. Second, my girlfriend who just turned 21, ordered a beer and the waitress showed as if she didnt believe her being 21 and went to the back to talk about it to other employees. Then she asked them about their drink specials and the waitress told her to get up and look at the drink board. "WOW" Third, my girlfriend ordered a burger without a few things that normally come on the burger when she specifically told them what she wanted, and when they brought it out wrong, they asked her if it was okay that they messed it up. It was a nightmare. I ordered wings and a side of lagerhead fries which were good, but were cold when they came out. It has a sports bar feel with mediocre staff. Unless I'm starving and right beside here, I won't ever eat here again. read more

This bar/restaurant turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Crowd is more an early 20s crowd--it's near a college--but there were a few older folks like me watching hockey on TV. Reasonable prices, decent service. Cute barmaids. Had the wings with sweet heat sauce, which were really good. Bacon cheeseburger with onion rings was solid. Liked the 90s mix on sound system. What the F, dude??!!! This place was THE place to be on Thursday nights...Karaoke, $1 drafts, and $2 jello shots. Granted, this WAS back in my college years...anywhere from 5-8 years ago, but I do not know what happened to this place. I visited my mom and dad in Pennsylvania in April 2008. My birthday is on the 18th, so I got together with about 15 of my college buds and went bar hopping. I saved Lager Head's for last because, well, it's freaking LAGER HEAD'S and I had some insane times there. Talk about disappointment. No more karaoke. They gutted the entire place out and the left side is all tables (I'm assuming they still serve the best bar food in Southwestern, Pennslvania...who knows?)..and the right side where the karaoke USED TO BE is nothing but a huge bar too big for the place and a bunch of people all squished together because the BAR takes up too much room. It took about 20 minutes just to get the bar tender's attention to get a drink, which was watered down and overpriced. Needless to say, we left within 30 minutes of arriving and I vowed never to go back. I'm sad because Lager Head's holds so many great drunkin' make-out with stranger memories for me. I wished I would not have went in April 2008...then my memories would have some staying power. read more
