Lagonita Lodge has a great lakefront location, but the room itself was a disappointment from the moment I opened the door. The property is extremely dated, the vanity sink was clogged, and I was greeted by a full trail of ants marching out from the baseboard into a refrigerator that smelled awful--and was turned off. Not exactly the peaceful getaway I had in mind. To make matters worse, I didn't realize the room had no A/C. That one's on me, but it definitely added to the discomfort. I even took videos of the ants, but honestly, what's the point. The only real positives were the serene lake views and decent parking access. I did reach out to the GM, and he responded quickly, which I appreciated. Front desk staff were amazing and full of energy! Still, based on this experience, I won't be returning. read more

I absolutely loved it here. I was a little worried at first because they did not have central AC and it was 90° when I visited but the location was so perfect and serene, the heat was basically nonexistent. We got checked in by Titus who was super welcoming and just had a very warm personality. There was movies for rent for $2 each and some snacks and drinks and souvenirs or just things you might need for your vacation for sale. We got our parking pass and keys and we were on our way. The place is FULLY equipped. Literally anything you might need is supplied to you. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything I needed to execute a full 5 course meal. The living room area was very comfortable and the view was amazing. There was a nice patio to sit outside and relax at. We also went into the indoor pool. There's chairs, bathrooms, and showers. I never found the towels though. There's a gym on the same floor as the pool/ jacuzzi. They have a game room as well but I was not able to enjoy it. I also noticed that they had an adult lounge but I came with my kids so I did not get to see it. But wait, there's more! They also had a childrens playground, bbq area and boat rentals. I'd say you need at least 3 days to fully enjoy all this place has to offer. They take a $100 deposit that is later refunded. I think the return is maybe based on the kind of bank you have. It's been 3 days for me and I still have not been refunded. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I hope to return during different seasons. read more

This was such a lovely place to stay. I got the one bedroom condo with partial lake view. Check in was super easy and my room was ready very early. The whole staff was very friendly. It's quiet and mellow. Parking is easy and convenient. I don't need AC so I didn't care but it's worth noting they don't have it. They do have heat, although I didn't use it or test it out. My unit was very big and thoughtfully furnished. Plenty of seating in the living room and at the dining table. There's a decent amount of counter space for meal prepping. The patio came with a table and chairs, but I couldn't use mine. For some reason the insect screen was taken off and leaning against the sliding glass door, and I had a swarm of a few dozen mosquitoes waiting to come inside as soon as I pulled it open. If I had been staying longer, I would have asked them to fix it, but I didn't think it was worth the hassle for a single night stay. There's a decent amount of lighting everywhere so it feels cozy at night. I liked that there was a sink in the bedroom as well as the bathroom, that will come in handy when shared by two or more guests. The bed and pillows were comfy, and extra blankets were left in the wardrobe. There's a lot of closet space if you're settling in for a while. The water pressure in shower is the standard trickle you get at any hotel so it takes a while to wash. But there's a curved shower rod for more shower space. The water temperature is a little fickle. Hot water comes easily but I couldn't get any cold water from the sink and it was hard to cool my shower down. The condo was pretty clean, with the exception of a cobweb full of dozens of dead insects on the high ceiling, and the bed skirt desperately needs a wash. Hotels probably shouldn't have fabric bed skirts. Otherwise, I was happy with the hygiene. There's an indoor pool and spa, as well as an outdoor spa. All are lovely. The outdoor spa has a beautiful view of the lake. I didn't use the rec rooms, but there are also some table games, board games, and movies for rent. The hotel has daily event calendars which are very cute. The front desk sells snacks and toiletries. It's all just so THOUGHTFUL. I really got the sense that they put more thought than most hotels into what will be helpful for guests and make it a better experience instead of just dazzling you. It made me happy to spend a lot of my time on the property. There's a covered picnic bench area on the lake that I really enjoyed using at mealtimes. Benches are placed all around the property to enjoy the views. There's a park with a playground for kids. They have a private dock and they rent different kinds of boats by the hour: kayak, canoe, paddle board, motorized. There's a tiny little sandy beach area with a beautiful view. Lots of squirrels and ducks. The property seems well-maintained. I'd recommend this lodge to anyone coming to Big Bear. I already know I'm going to book it again on my next trip. read more

My family has been enjoying Lagonita Lodge for over 20 years as timeshare holders, and we've always loved the gorgeous lake views, fun activities for both kids and adults, indoor pool and spa, and the outdoor adult pool. The rooms with full kitchens are a huge perk and have kept us coming back year after year. However, the front office staff and some recent policy changes have definitely caused frustration. One issue in particular is the new pool towel system. In previous years, towels were easily accessible, but now you have to check them out at the front desk. This wouldn't be a problem if they kept enough on hand--but that hasn't been our experience. On our recent stay, we walked to the office already dressed for the pool, only to be told no towels were available and to come back later. After heading back to our room in the cold, we called about 20 minutes later to ask when towels would be ready and if they could bring some to the pool (which is very close to the office). We were told they'd be ready shortly, but delivery wasn't an option unless it was to the room--which didn't help since we were already heading to the pool. When a member of our group went back to the office, the staff acted confused and said towels still weren't ready, suggesting we use our bath towels instead. Thankfully, a kind worker stepped in and said he had just folded some and would grab them for us. The woman at the desk then said, "It'll be faster if you follow him and don't just wait here," which felt unnecessarily rude. The pool area needs updates and more seating. As a family who pays into the timeshare and also has relatives who book additional nights at hotel rates, we expect better customer service and a friendlier front office experience. The recreation staff was wonderful and helpful as always, but the main office staff--who are the first point of contact--could definitely use improvement. We love Lagonita Lodge and hope to keep coming for many years, but better communication and customer service from the front desk would make a huge difference. read more

This place is a sparkling gem, home away from home. We stayed three nights and were upgraded to a lake view. Rooms are comfy, clean and large. Appreciated the coat closet, pantry, and dishwasher. Also, the basket with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, salt, and pepper was a kind gesture. Loved being able to cook some healthy meals while on vacation in the fully equipped kitchen. The gas fire place in the living room was beautiful and cozy. The beds were comfortable. The shower was great and had all the bath products. We had stayed here twice and enjoyed it each time. Friendly front desk assisted us with check in. Made it quick and easy upgrading us to a room overlooking Big Bear Lake at no additional cost. Room had a full kitchen so you are able to get groceries and cook, which saves you money from eating out. Very nice and clean, but one problem there's no a/c during summer. It can get hot! At night is beautiful! So calm and peaceful. I had sat outside on the balcony stargazing while drinking a glass of wine. Absolutely magical! There's a small indoor pool your family and kids can enjoy. Upstairs to that is a rec room with games and pool tables. Nice to also just stroll around the property with views of the lake. This place was such an incredible place to stay with my husband and toddler. The room really did exceed our expectation, a whole little space to ourselves with a great view of the lake from our room. Access to the docs if you want to fish, boat rides and just watch the view and a little playground. Theres a family rec room with pool tables and below was a heated indoor pool and jacuzzi as well as a mini gym. So many activities throughout the week, make sure you get the calendar at front desk! Staff was great but I want to say especially Cindy and Roxanne were so amazing. They made every activity that was happening in the family rec room such a great experience. From the breakfasts in the mornings to the arts and crafts, they were total sweethearts with all the work they put into making it a great experience for us and everyone else around us. There a non-smoking facility with dissented smoking areas. Pool, hot tube, propane grill and exercise equipment available. All elements to the room could be found within the unit. Dishwasher, iron and dustpan, just to name a few. It's a sore eye to see the lake;Its spectacular. Posted: Five trout per licensed fisher & age requirement of sixteen. You really can't complain with where your located literally maybe a 5 minute drive to downtown Big Bear which is a big plus, about a 5 minute drive to Boulder Bay Park and a 10 minute drive from grocery stores. Locations wise it was perfect in my book. Amenities: spent most of my time down at the docks, beautiful views and so peaceful. Very big and spacious game room. Pool and jacuzzi was by appointment only which was nice we were the only people there only thing I wish the adult jacuzzi was open. Our room was very spacious could of easily fit another couple with us. When staying more than a couple days it's so nice to have your own kitchen. I knocked one star because when I got to town I called ahead and asked if my room was ready they told me it was so I went straight to the lodge to find out my room was not ready? Also it could of been a bit cleaner. On our last day we were packing up somethings heard a knock at the door at 9:30am it was a cleaning lady when check out wasn't until 12pm so I was a bit confused there. Booked a room over 2 months ago, specifically called to insure we got the room we wanted. Upon booking room we were told we would be bottom floor lakefront, as I am disabled and can not walk long distances or stairs. Upon arriving and checking in we immediately noticed how rude and non hospitable the staff was. We over looked it and checked in to our room. Now they give us a room on the second floor looking at the back of a shed. Not what we paid for nor wanted. So we headed back down to the front desk where we had the unpleasant pleasure of dealing with the rude staff once again and told them we were not in the correct room. The manager then said it was the only room available and the room we originally booked got given to the "owners " and we couldn't just kick them out so that was our problem i guess. Mind you I booked the room 2 months ago and paid my first night in advance. No apology, no discount on the room we didn't want nothing but a rude curly haired manager making it seem like it was our fault. I included a pic from our balcony of the lake view, and the staff is not tourist friendly. Just rude, but don't have a problem charging $375 dollars a night for a outdated room. If there is any positive reviews on here they are lies. Charge 2 bucks just to rent out old DVD's. Felt like I got the ole bait and switch pulled on me. Got me there, took a deposit, gave me whatever room they had, didn't care about my experience or if I was disabled and how inconvenient a 2nd story room was. Had to take the elevator then walk to the end where they had a set of zig zag ramps set up, but point being not what I paid for or wanted. So this place pretty much ruined my whole big bear experience no matter how much I tried to not let them. Then when I go to checkout I have some towels I had to check out at front desk so I called and asked if I turn them in or leave in room. Was told to leave in room. Get to front desk it's another story, now Allison steps in again and now I have to walk my disabled ass all the way back to the room going through the maze of ramps and elevators grab the towels just to hand them directly to her. This Review is unique, because we visited the lodge in the middle of the Covid 19 crisis. I fully realize that everyone is scared and practicing social distancing.....BUT if the management does indeed read Yelp Reviews, I wanted to offer you a customer perspective. Here are basic facts: 1) Because of the Covid Crisis, we called the hotel 3 times prior to our arrival just to make sure they were still open for business. We were assured that 'yes' they were with exception of common areas being closed (such as pool, etc)- which we expected. 2) We had a 2-3 hour drive to get to the resort, so JUST to be sure, we called as we left. The hotel personnel told my husband " you are coming? You are supposed to practice social distancing!" As if she was scolding us for still coming. This was after we called several times. Too late, we were in route 3) When we arrived, there was a big sign on the door that only ONE person could go inside to check in. Okay... pretty good idea. Then both receptionists had masks on ( not recommended for people not sick) 4) We were given a flyer that if any guest is suspected of having COVID, they will NOTIFY AUTHORITIES! OMG- Does this mean Police or ?? My husband and I are both Registered Nurses and are FULLY aware of all aspects of dealing with this virus. All we did was stay in the cabin and relax, celebrating my husband's birthday. In essence, we were 'Sheltering in place ' for the weekend. What I suggest to hotel managment is to either CLOSE completely OR pre-screen guests ahead of time just like we are doing in hospitals ( do you feel well? Do you have a fever? Etc). Don't get me wrong, we still had an amazing time, but I wanted to offer this as honest feedback. As far as I know, police aren't arresting people suspected of Covid, so threatening to call authorities on guests seems very extreme. I am attaching some photos from our room and the Lake. Love this hotel here in Big bear. Fortunately our room had one of the best views of the lake. I could of literally cast my fishing line from our patio into the lake but I not sure if i would of gotten in trouble lol. Our room was clean and very spacious and had a full kitchen. Also had a gas fireplace and made it very cozy. When we got to the hotel, we checked in and the young man at counter was great. He told us everything there is to know about the hotel and accommodated to our every need. I'd rate him 5 out of 5 stars. (We stayed there 10/14/2023). I am more than likely to stay here again in the near future. There are also Bbq grills if you want to cook up some steaks and plenty of places to fish, and a place to clean them if you do catch something, there is a cleaning table located near the docs. The front desk staff, (woman), was horrible. We rented a room last year that was lake view and we actually got a lake view. This year we rented a lake view based on last year's experience and did not get a lake view even though we paid for it. We were also able to rent a boat before we checked out last year and this year we couldn't. The front desk lady was so incredibly rude about it all and then proceeded with to call me rude! It was appalling. Our unit was cramped and musty. The bathtub was permanently running slowly and didn't shut off. I would never stay here again based on this experience. Amenities were really fun at least like the billiards and ping pong. Room got very very stuffy now that summer has arrived and there isn't AC in the rooms. Me and my parents went!! It was really fun. The gym was quite small but it was good enough for 2 people to go. The pool was pretty big!! I suggest you book the boats and all of the stuff a day before or a couple days before you go to Big Bear. If you don't book before you would most likely not have any boats to rent. The view is beautiful and the employees were so nice. The kitchen was pretty clean you may have to rinse the utensils and plates though. The lake is beautiful at night and there is a jacuzzi just for adults near the lake. It was a great trip!! I would go back to the Lagonita Lodge. Totally recommend this lodge. :) read more

I love coming to Big Bear because it's only a couple hours drive. This lodge is situated among the pine trees right near the lake and many of the units have beautiful lake views. I've stayed in a 3 bedroom before which are nice for families. This last stay it was for only 2 of us, so we stayed in a one bedroom. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had a beautiful view of the lake. There are no bell boys, but they have carts to load your luggage and stuff on. They also have elevators if your room is on 2nd or 3rd floor. Be ready to do it all yourself after you check in. Parking can be tough on busy weeks, but this trip was off season so it was easier to get a parking place by our unit. Our unit had a nice kitchen, dining area, and living room. There was a very nice gas fireplace in the living room that we used every night because it got cold at night! We thought the TV was too small for the size of the room. The living room has a nice size balcony with a view of the lake and a table to sit at. The bedroom is small and we thought the bed was uncomfortable and too small. It's supposed to be a queen, but seemed like a full size. I think they should replace the bed with a King! The kitchen is well equipped with everything for basic dining and cooking. They give you coffee for one day and charge you if you want more because they always have hot coffee in the lobby for everyone staying there! I recommend you bring your own coffee from home. I like that there is a small dishwasher! The bathroom is very basic and small with a single sink. The rooms are not serviced/cleaned every day, but they provide extra towels and toiletries in the unit. If you need more you just call the desk and they will deliver them to your room. I feel the decor is a bit dated and could use more modern furniture. There is an indoor pool, and a rec room with a pool table. There is also a small gym. There is also a nice boat dock that rents boats. It was closed this trip due to off season and it was windy. All in all, the place is cozy and the location is awesome! It's wonderful to breathe the fresh cool air. I will be back. read more

The good things: The Service staff were great and location was great and the view from the room was really nice. Close to downtown and not far from essentials when needed. The room outdated but that wasn't a big deal for us. The not so good: The kitchen - counters were really dirty and sticky. I had to wash It before we even had to unpack. The dishes we also washed as they were oily and some had food left on them. The bedroom - my son lost one flip flop so he walked to the bathroom to find It. The rug in the bedroom Is absolutely dirty (see pic) The Service: It was hot so we requested an extra fan. The front desk lady said only 1 per room and if I wanted one to go see if I could find one in town. We headed downstairs to cool off and we saw 4 fans standing outside the room next to the pool. Someone from maintenance was kind enough to bring one upstairs for us. The lake: We wanted to swim anywhere on the lake as It was just a few feet away. We were told we can't swim per management orders. I asked if I could rent a kayak and swim away from the property and they said no. Per management we couldn't swim there. We drove away to a beach nearby but then defeated the purpose of paying almost 600 for a 3 night stay. I sure hope I can get my deposit soon enough and wish I could go back in time. Had I knows all these blockers I wouldn't have stayed here. read more

Overall a decent place to sleep that I would book again. My family and I stayed in the one bedroom. Mostly clean except for a few ants in the kitchen. Underneath the glass cover on the dining table were crumbs inside the table. There was free popcorn and free coffee in the main office. There is a recreation room with a small gym on the upstairs of one of the buildings and nice indoor pool and jacuzzi. There is an outdoor jacuzzi as well. Time warp.. the rooms are old, the most up to date item is the shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the bathroom. The fireplace barley shows any kind of flames coming out of it. The layout is weird and everything is old and outdated. My husband thought we booked a "lake view" room.. haha the only view we get is if we stand in the very far corner of the balcony. My husband has stayed here before and loved it. But after this experience, we will definitely be looking for another location to stay when visiting. read more

Unfortunately I cannot speak to the quality of the resort itself, only the manager at the front desk. I made a reservation for my birthday weekend with my 79 year old mom. The evening before our check in we became aware a portion of one of the freeways up had collapsed (would have been our first time to Big Bear Lake) due to flash flooding. We also learned the air quality was unhealthy for sensitive groups this weekend, which my elderly mom is. We called to see if there was anything the resort could do, change our reservation to another date or cancel. The woman we spoke to couldn't care less. Didn't have any sympathy for our situation. I understand if nothing could have be done, but I would expect a level of hospitality and care. Please know this was a great disappointment for us, your resort looks beautiful but I wish your staff would have left us with a better feeling. read more

Inside the lodge room, it looked clean but can use little more. Rooms are little outdated. Furniture looked old. Cable TV is basic but entertained me for a couple of days. Gas fire place is weak but worked okay. Wireless worked okay, I even had a zoom meeting. Did not use pool or jacuzzi but it was open with reservation. Microwave smelled a little. Wood structure so not much noise isolation. I was close to pool so water pump was loud. Overall, I would stay again for the location and view. Even the partial lake view rooms had good view.
