I really enjoyed my stay and I'm going to give you the good, the bad and the between as I saw it. There was a lot to really enjoy but the best was the jacuzzi inside the room. It was huge and the water was always super hot and the shower was hot right when I got out of the tub. A little soap goes a very long way with bubbles, proceed with caution. The room and the spa were very clean, there was a sticker on the door with the name of the person and the date that our room was sanitized which was reassuring to me. Once inside it smelled clean and everything looked clean. I did take a bottle of Odoban and did a once over but it was during COVID paranoia. Whenever I stay anywhere I strip the bed and put on my own sheets and blanket but when tearing the bed apart our white linens were very white and clean. I read reviews about a rouge hair or two and myself having very long dark hair I find it silly that it would be a huge deal, even in the most immaculate environment one is bound to pop up, trust me, I know but I understand with COVID everyone needs to be on top of their game with cleanliness. I found the location to be really convenient, it was close to everything we wanted to do. We had several exchanges with the owner, we checked in after midnight and she was friendly and professional. Since we were both working remotely due to COVID we decided we wouod like to stay another night if they could accommodate us and she was very courteous and made the process easy and that extra night actually turned into 3 extra nights! I suppose one could find the rooms dated, I personally felt like they were cute and cozy and felt cabin like,I didn't mind the decor at all. We stayed in cabin 16, I was able to scope out 17 and has been updated recently and is more modern. They both cost the same so I would probably go with 17 it's really the best bang for your buck. Finding our cabin at night was fairly difficult if you are able to check in during the day I would definitely say do that. We eventually found our cabin, they all look the same and aren't marked terribly well. The parking is a bit tight I came straight from buying a new fairly expensive car so I had to park a few different times until I was satisfied I would avoid a door ding but that was probably new car paranoia and if you don't arrive after midnight like a dummy you'll probably have a better chance at choice parking. Once in the cabin I saw there was one of those QR codes on the wall for you to scan and when you do they offer a coupon code that can't be applied retroactively of course so I was kinda bummed by that because it only required a 3 day stay to receive the discount and we stayed over twice that long so perhaps it could have been offered. I found it online as well so before you book look online for coupon codes because they're available. I found booking straight from their website was less expensive than Expedia and the other travel sites. For the price I think this place is unbeatable. Just when you thought I was going to shut up I pop back up... I forgot to mention that one night a family checked into one of the family cabins and they were out until after 10 pm and they were loud eventually I called Cathy at the number she provides for you to call if you need anything and within 5 minutes she had sent someone to take care of the issue. I'm not sure if any of the cabins are pet friendly but I know that the one we stayed in was not and that was really the biggest issue we had. I have a 4 pound Yorkie with separation anxiety and he's grown quite accustomed to going everywhere with me so we had to hire a pet sitter and I really missed my Lil guy! I wish they allowed pets of a certain size with a deposit. Other than that I can't wait until it's time to go back. We went in the last week of April for my birthday and the weather was perfect. Not too cold but you still definitely get that mountain experience and since it's the off season everything is very affordable. Horrible experience. Won't be back. Reserved one room upstairs with a patio/balcony. Was given a room on the street with a narrow 4 steps to the cabin. No porch or anything. We complained and was told that they had the right to change us. It's not in their written policies anywhere. This room was substandard, especially to the one we actually booked. The mini blind were threaded, broken and dirty the table was beat up and not stable, the cost rack was in front of the window. And was not stable to move plus that was the only place to hang clothing. No drawers The mini sofa at the end of the bed was torn and poked your behind if you sat on it. This review pertains to cabin number 4. The cabin is quaint and cozy. We were there in the summer and air conditioning was not needed. It was comfortable for the most part. We brought our two dogs which is why maybe they gave us a cabin that wasn't as nice as the pictures. One big problem was the shower heads in the bathroom. The flow was very good. But the bathroom is a wet room style, meaning there's no divider between the shower and the rest of the bathroom and the water gets everywhere in the bathroom. They need a curtain or a wall between the shower and the toilet and sink area. If you are very picky about your stay, I would not recommend this place. If you are not super picky, this would be fine. read more

We Loved our anniversary stay here this past weekend! Communication was always great! I had a couple of questions that I asked through my booking app and communication was moved to text (with my permission of course) which was no problem for me! On our arrival date, I received a text that our cabin was ready, along with our code for entry, EASY PEASY. The vibes are just what my hubby and I needed! I have sat on doing this review for a couple of months. The reason one might ask is because we have been here a few other times in the past and really enjoyed our stays and the rustic ambience. However, this latest stay it definitely 'could have been better' (2 stars). We were both disappointed in all the negative aspects of the cabin we rented (King Spa Sleepy S16 for reference). The walls were scuffed, an area of floorboard was tweaked, the shower hot/cold water knobs were loose and wobbly, the towel rack in the bathroom was not fully mounted,there were electrical outlets that were loose (fire hazard?) with face cracked face plates, a window latch that was defective and another one missing completely, a slow draining bathroom sink, and the Jacuzzi tub was not inviting - having a constant drip and rust stain (it was not used of course). I am attaching photos for reference. The cabin was not all bad. It was clean, the drapes were functional, the bed was comfortable and the TV and coffee maker worked; albeit the TV's size was kind of ridiculous. We did not complain about the aforementioned issues that need to be addressed, as we still enjoyed our stay. We would consider staying here again, as we have in the past. No hot water due to water heater mishap, unfortunately only refund I was offered for no hot water the majority of our time was 10% off the next stay :/ Room was nice, strange there was a kitchen sink faucet for the bath, even if we did have hot water it would've taken roughly 2 hours to fill. We traveled out to Big Bear Lake to celebrate the 4th of July, but more so to escape the extreme Las z vegas heat! This was our first time heading to Big Bear Lake, so we found Sleepy Forest Cottages online, and the rates were great, so we booked. Everything is online, so there is no interaction with any staff, and no workers walking around. Driving in, there are deep ruts just entering the driveway, also in the designated parking space. Just be careful walking out of your vehicle because you could really trip and fall if you're not paying attention. The cabins are very cute and rustic looking from the outside. Walking in, there is a full kitchen with a refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, press and panda, and utensils! Awesome! There's a hot tub between the kitchen and bed, and a large bathroom with dual showers for those times you want to take showers together! This place was far from perfect, as the cable TV was out (there is wifi, though), the electrical outlets were barely working as my phone charger would fall out, and there are no fans or AC. It was a bit hot this trip, so having a fan would have helped. For the price, I think it's still worth it, they are a hidden gem that needs to work out those kinks! read more

This business has no live check in service. It is connected to two additional businesses that also do not offer live check in personnel. Check in is by wifi service only and they don't even offer a strong signal at the front office (unoccupied). The sign on the door actually advises guests to GO UP THE STREET TO USE MCDONALDS WIFI! So unprofessional! Check in is late...5 PM. When a guest tries to check in at 5 PM, NO ONE responds! It was 1 hour and 22 minutes before an employee answered any of the half dozen texts attempting check-in. At that point, they were not even ready to tell me my cabin number! They asked all kinds of registration questions despite that being done on Priceline already. Wanted car info, CDL etc. By this point my husband was ready to give up and leave our vacation behind. I found another cottage for less that graciously accommodated us immediately. No refund is being offered me for my lack of entry into Sleepy Forest Cottages. read more

We have stayed at Sleepy Forest many times in the past decade or so, but apparently they have new management post-covid and everything has gone downhill!! First off, the check-in process has changed where you don't go to the Lobby anymore (there are no employees onsite anymore) and they text you a code to get into your cabin. That's fine, technology is good. However, in the past if you got a wood-burning fireplace, they would give you 1 free bundle of firewood to start, and you could buy extra wood from the Lobby. Not anymore. You don't get anything free, and you need to drive to 7-11 to buy it. We bought our wood and get back our first night... there's no gas line to start the fire!! We had to go back and buy a firelog to start the fire! The previous cabins we stayed at ALL had a gas line to help start the fireplace. It looks like this cabin previously had one (it had the holes in the infrastructure) but was removed. Other than the fireplace, this cabin was in HORRIBLE condition. The entire property seems run-down but the current management are too cheap to fix it!! Bathroom: There was hardly any soap in the sink dispenser, so that ran out after the 1st day. They have a "4 in 1" soap for the shower, instead of individual shampoos and body wash, etc. That dispenser was full, but was almost falling off the wall!! It rotated every time you pressed on it. The sink faucet was very touchy, if you barely open it, the water doesn't come out fast enough to get warm. If you open the handle a little more, it SHOOTS out and sprays out everywhere, getting the sink and your shirt/pants wet!! Kitchen: They have a vintage looking refrigerator, which looks really cool. Too bad it didn't work! We had leftovers inside and the next morning we started smelling them... opened the fridge and it was room temperature!! Bed: Probably the WORST of all, the bed was terrible. Couldn't really sleep well at all! Mattresses look worn and old. The pillows were SO HARD and THIN that it was painful to lay on them, both of our necks were sore every morning!! (see picture) Heater: Another piece of garbage that should have been replaced years/decades ago! The thermostat is on the other side of the room (where it's much colder) and the heater is RIGHT next to the bed. So the heater keeps turning on all night and blasting hot air right next to you as you sleep. So it gets BLAZING hot in the middle of the night. And if you turn it down, it gets freezing cold. WiFi/Cable: The cable TV was a little pixelated and the box rebooted randomly (the manager already warned about it). She said the WiFi was "strong" and we could still stream anything if we wanted to watch movies. What a joke!!! The WiFi just barely connected and randomly cut out constantly! Even when connected, it was extremely slow! It took about 2-3 minutes just to load a website. How can you stream anything on this?! Oddly enough they had a WiFi router hooked up to the cable box in the cabin, with a 5-bar signal, but it was for TV only (No internet when connected). Not sure why they had this connection if it didn't do anything. I'm guessing they cut costs by getting rid of an internet connection in each cabin. Cheap. Overall: The cabin is marketed as "rustic" but it's a run-down piece of crap. There are holes patched in the wall from previous thermostats or light fixtures or whatever. One of the lights above the jacuzzi didn't work at all. We didn't even try the jacuzzi because of all the other issues, didn't want to get frozen or scalded in there. We could feel cold breezes in certain spots, so there are obviously holes or something where it's not insulated properly from outside. Not to mention 2 HUGE spiders running along the wall. I absolutely loved staying at these cottages!! I was in #6 and the location was perfect (close to the lake and the village) and the rooms were quaint! I've seen a few complaints that they are run down but if you look at the photos this isn't a fancy resort! It feels homey and warm and what I want when I head up the mountain for a couple of cozy nights. I loved every minute of our stay! The employees were delightful and very quick to respond to any questions I had. Our heater was having issues and the staff came by and dropped off a space heater at 10 in the evening! Wow I don't like leaving bad reviews I feel that most bad reviews are vindictive. This place is cute and quiet but here comes the issues. The bed is like sleeping on a cement slab. Nothing comforting about it. We arrived late and everything was closed I almost felt like sleeping in my car the bed was that uncomfortable. I paid for a two night stay but ended up going to another establishment with better beds. Now let's talk about the bugs. The front door has a 1/4 inch gap at the bottom of the door sill that allows any creepy crawling spiders or bug into your cabin. Pull the sheets back on my concrete slab and seen a couple of bugs tucked in the corner. Not a bug expert cannot confirm or deny if it was a bed bug. Could have been a Forrest bug for all I know. The bathroom floor tiles are loose. If you are looking for that outdoor experience but being indoors this is the place for you. On the plus side I will give you a 3 star rating because your showers and the water pressure and how hot the water gets will sanitize your body after laying on that slab. If I can give you any feedback. Change the mattresses and box spring and seal the place up. And I'm sure you will have better reviews. You made money off me and I don't even care. The cottages are nice and clean. This was my second time, cabin 6, the 1st time, and cabin 9, the second time. Cabin 9 is a lot smaller, but I still liked it. The check in process could of been easier. I personally do not like being asked to send the copy of my driver's license via text. I enjoyed my stay overall, and I would recommend this place. My husband and I stayed here 9 years ago and loved it so we stayed again and man was it disappointing! The cabin we stayed in was so run down i mean the walls had huge chunks of plaster peeling off of them in multiple areas. This aside i didn't let that bother me until on day 2 when it started snowing and there was a huge leak in the cieling only a couple feet away from the bed. A guy on site came to help us and said quote "oh shit my bad this has never happened before management will definitely call you they should reimburse you a little, so sorry about this". In search of a last-minute first-time get-away to Big Bear, we came across Sleepy Forest Cottages. Quaint. Cozy. Most importantly, reasonably priced. We conveniently parked right outside our little cabin. Our cottage (#8: The Suite) had a small patio with a 2-person black metal table. Once inside, the snug, dimly-lit room housed an old sofa (this was in decent condition, unlike others have complained about in their cottages) and a rustic 2-person table, an antique refrigerator, and older sink and counter -- like going back in time. We even had an elevated fireplace (although not needed in August). In the single bedroom, there were broken sections of the aluminum blinds (which we patched the gap with a paper towel). The toiletries provided were nice -- just wish the towels were softer/fluffier rather than the old, thin towels supplied. The room was efficient with its use of limited closet space and TV cart. Most appreciated having an updated bed and bedding -- AND ceiling fan -- which was very comfortable! In addition, free wi-fi, pleasant office staff, conveniently located, safe location -- our small-and-cozy cottage fulfilled our needs for a quiet-and-comfortable place to sleep after a physically-active day on our 1-night summer get-away! read more

First off the room was dirty, the bed sheets along with the pillowcases looked like they hadn't been cleaned, as well as the bathroom and floors. The bathroom also had no hot water and the shower was out in the open with only one soap that said it was "all in one" meaning no separate shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. There was also a jacuzzi tub in the room however I did not go in considering it was dirty. It took me a long time trying to figure out how to turn the TV on and when I did it kept turning off randomly then had to wait a few mins for it to turn back on. Mid December I stayed in cabin number 15 for a weekend away. It was a very small studio with a queen bed, a table for two, bathroom and a kitchen with a; sink, mini fridge and a microwave. It was all we needed for our little get away. The parking was very easy and close to the cabin, there is also a small yard of grass with lights and chairs outside. We spent most of our time exploring Big Bear but the time we did spend in the cabin was very peaceful and relaxing. When coffee makes did not work, staff brought a new one within 20 min. Fireplace worked. Half the jets in the jacuzzi worked, enough. Heater was slow to heat up the room, but did its job. Plenty of hot water for jacuzzi. Good price. Had soap, shampoo. Even new sponge at sink. No bugs and in the amongst lots of trees. 7-11 and Mc Donald's 200 yards up a very small hill. Some have wood fireplaces. Plenty of trash cans. Bad: jacuzzi half the jets worked. Room needed major upgrade. No chair. Room was very small. Toilet kept running. Glass around jacuzzi needed changing. Place needed major upkeep. Outside (including banisters needed painting) bad. Needed a wall and baseboard finishing. Some have gas fireplaces. read more

We stayed in S04 during peak summer. I concur with the rest of the reviews - the place is old, but super clean, and it seemed like everything was thought-out. The walls have markings, and a lot of the hinges creak, and we felt like we needed to be careful with it. The couch looked worn out as well, but is comfortable when you sit and lounge on it. Again, the property is old, but we think the place itself is well cleaned and well- maintained. There were no smells, and because the windows were open, the cottage always felt cool (even when it's 80°f outside!) and well-aerated. For the people complaining about how dirty it is outside...it's the outside and you're in a woody area. I think it would be difficult to keep it SPOTLESS. Our outside chairs and benches carried the dust and dirt that falls naturally when in the area, with the occasional cobweb because of course there are spiders around. It wasn't covered in dust from lack of cleaning. We had a full kitchen (oven, stove) with basic kitchenware, cookware, and utensils. A sponge and dishwashing liquid was present. The microwave and refrigerator were great. The jetted tub worked great too, though we did have to run it first because there was some stale water from the jets. We love that we could control the heat of it, unlike a regular jacuzzi! The light above the jacuzzi didn't work. There was a Mr. Coffee with coffee packets, sugar, creamer packets provided. They gave us enough for our entire stay. We also liked the big bathroom, and it was super clean and the showers worked great. Temperature control worked perfectly. We didn't have to wait a long time for it to adjust! It comes with a dispenser containing an All-in-One (body wash, shampoo, etc) product. Towels included. Iron, even a side-table. We even had a fan already in there! We liked the bed and felt it wasn't too soft or hard, and we were given enough blankets to be kept warm. The bed was well made when we wrrived. It definitely gets cold in the night, so we personally didn't feel like an AC was necessary. The fan met our needs. There was a huge heater and also a fireplace, but we didn't need to use those so we have no idea how those work. We had good Wi-Fi connectivity, and the TV worked beautifully with the Roku remote that we had. The check-in process is definitely different. They do text you with instructions, and they'll continue to remind you daily if you don't do it. The instructions are really simple though, and once you do it they won't text you again until they give you the housecode once check-in time comes. They ask for your car model and a picture of your driver's license. After which, they send you a map of the place with more information. They already let us know ahead of time about currently not having cable, and how there is no check-in process, but that they can be reached through the number they text you in until 8pm. After which, you'll have to call a specific number if it's serious (ex. You can't get in the house with the code.) They do NOT give you the housecode before the 4pm check-in time. They're pretty serious about that. I got mine at 4:01pm. "Check-out" was easy. We left at 10:57am and just texted them that we left. We didn't need any refills on anything, or any fixes throughout our stay, so I can't say much about that. We felt like with the way they prepared the cottage, we didn't need to ask for anything. I will say that it does feel a little cramped parking-wise, and there are ruts that make the entire parking bumpy and difficult. We needed to do 3-point turns whenever we wanted to backout and there were other cars. For their prices and how well-maintained and thought-out our cottage was, we believe this place is an absolute l find, and we will definitely come back if we will be in Big Bear again. read more

What an amazing place. Kathy was very helpful in answering all my questions and helping me find what I needed. Now let's get to the room. We stayed in Room 16, which features a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, king size bed, and love seat. As soon as we opened the door and entered, we were aw struck with how great it really was. It was even better than the pictures showed. The jacuzzi was amazing, and always had hot water available for it. The shower has a light in it that changes colors, pretty cool. The king bed was AMAZING AND COMFORTABLE. Great night sleep. The atmosphere was peaceful, and mind clearing. It was so good we had to book a second night in a row. Again, Kathy was amazing in helping us out. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing night in the mountains. We will definitely be returning in the future. We just got home from a weekend stay at Sleepy Forest Cottages and it was fantastic! We stayed in Cabin #17 (Eureka!) And it was cozy, clean, and everything we could of asked for and more. There was an included set of cutlery, plates cups and mugs, as well as a microwave, toaster, ironing board, iron and blow dryer in the room. We had planned to get paper plates and cups during our stay, but because of these included things we didn't need to! The jet tub was absolutely huge! The husband and I are quite tall and not exactly thin and we both fit inside comfortably. The water was incredibly hot too! The rain shower was also very relaxing, my only issue is that the shower curtain is just a little too short so the floor gets wet easily. Another 'complaint' was the firmness of the bed. It was made of some sort of memory foam material but it was incredibly hard. But I also understand that bed softness/firmness is 100% a personal preference thing and while it wasn't great for me, it may be for someone else, and it didn't take away from the stay as a whole. (Just want to give a heads up to anyone else who likes softer surfaces). We had opted to not have housekeeping visit during our stay, but the room was very clean upon check in. Upon check in we also requested an additional blanket and it was brought over right away. I see there have been some complaints about check in times running late but we didn't experience any problem with checking in. In fact, we checked in about 10 minutes before 4pm without issue. The front desk clerk was friendly, gave us a little paper explaining a few things about the room, WiFi setup, a map of the grounds, and a few suggestions for dining and activities. They don't have keys for the cabin so the paper also had our passkey for the cabin as well. Check out was as simple as walking in, telling the lady on the iPad our cabin number (a little different but not at all inconvenient) and walking out! THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU BOOK HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to WARN everyone about this place. I am a 74 yr old disabled vet, and my wife and were going to our son's home in Sugarloaf, CA. We decided that since my wife cannot climb stairs, we would take a room. Finding this site on line, we decided to book there. Well, 20 minutes after booking, my wife told me that she could not go as she was in so much pain after her hospital stay, that she just couldn't sit through the flight, let alone be good company for anyone. So I cancelled the room. Now i am told I do not get a refund and there is nothing the resort can or will do short of me dying to get a refund. REALLY!!!! Do you treat all your guests this way? You should be ashamed of yourselves. Life happens, and there are good reasons for giving back a refund. It takes months of social security checks to save for things like this, and you care very little about the people and more about the money. WOW!!!! I hope the money comes in handy when you meet your maker. I would love to see how you explain your greed and your treatment of your fellow man!!! read more

Sleepy forest and Cathy Cottages are beautiful places to stay. I love sleepy forest cabin #16 (closer to the Village) and I recently stayed in cabin #2 at Cathy's cottage (closer to alpine zoo) and near a major road so bring ear plugs. I love how warm and comfortable these cabins are. I feel like I'm in the true mountains staying in a cabin. The jacuzzi tubes are awesome! Beds are a little hard but I felt comfortable. read more

This studio style cabin was amazing! Definitely recommend if you plan on visiting big bear. The, in suite tub was the best part!!! The price was also another reason I'm giving 5 stars. Some tips I have are make sure your "gas fireplace" and cable is working. Ours was not I called the front desk and someone came to fix it in 10 min. read more

I stayed here the last week of October in Cabin 5. The room was clean and having a fireplace made my nights very cozy. Everything I needed was in walking distance from the cabin. Nights were extremely quiet and peaceful. I was actually a fan of not having to interact with anyone. You get a text with your door code when you check in online and that's it. Living in Orange County that was exactly the quiet space I needed for a vacation. Will definitely try to make it up there again next year. read more

Cute place and the jacuzzi tub is nice however several concerns. Night arrived the tv in room wasn't working. Maintenance did come fix the 2nd day. The toilet runs and is very loud which made it hard to sleep. No napkins in the unit. I have concerns that the unit wasn't cleaner prior to my arrival. Upon departure I noticed in the blankets long black hair- my hair is blonde. Also noticed bugs all inside the sheets and blankets. Was in town to run a race. By the time I got back to the room the other nights I was extremely tired and went straight to sleep. I did not consider that I should inspect inside the blankets. I reached out to management. They said they've been having trouble with housekeeping. No doubt in my mind that these units are not cleaned, bedding not washed and infested with bugs. The jacuzzi was definitely nice but I would not recommend staying here. read more

This was by far the worst hotel/airbnb experience I have ever had. It was so bad my girlfriend and I left the hotel at 11pm, canceled our entire stay, and check into a Holiday In down the street. To start off, we walk into our single bedroom studio and are greeted with an old, dusty type of smell. My first instinct was then to look at the sheets. I pulled back the sheets and saw stains and long black hairs in the sheets I was supposed to be sleeping in (see images). I immediately called the front desk and, luckily, they changed the sheets; although, the new sheets had large light brown stains in some areas... I was hoping that was the extent of it, but throughout the night we found hair in and around the bathtub and shower, as well as dried pomegranate seeds near the faucite (which I had originally thought was rodent droppings.) It was very obvious that this room wasn't even cleaned after the previous guests left. There was a mirror on the ceiling that projected directly over the bed, that originally looked dirty, as if there was a oily film over it. After closer inspection, I realized it wasn't an oily film, it just the glass itself. It seemed like one of those one way mirrors that is a mirror on one side, but from the other side you can see through it. The weirdest thing, was that this was the only mirror in the room that was like this... and it happened to look directly over the bed... The entire time we were there (from the time we arrived until we left that same night), it seemed as if someone was watching us. There was an incredibly eerie and creepy atmosphere that was extremely uncomfortable to be in. We finally decided to leave so that we can have a comfortable sleep elsewere. I reached out to the manager, Sean Si, and he had no interest in refunding or compensating us for the terrible experience. I am so utterly frustrated and disgusted by my experience that I do not plan on using Airbnb in the future. My best advice would be DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. It was such a terrible experience, I wouldn't wish this upon anybody. read more

After recently having visited Finland and vacationing in snow for two weeks I really missed it when I got back home so decided to make a quick weekend getaway in Big Bear. Normally I like to do my research but it was so last minute that I decided to trust Yelp and find others thought was best which led me to Sleepy Forest Cottages, it certainly didn't disappoint! How cute! I've stayed in cottages before but this particular one had a cabin relaxing home away from vibe. We stayed in cabin #18 which included a living room with fireplace, dining area, kitchen, a bathroom downstairs with a spa jacuzzi and standing shower. The upstairs had a large bedroom with such a comfortable bed and right next door another bedroom with two twin beds. It was really spacious! Everything worked perfectly, it was stocked with basic amenities and everything was clean from top to bottom. I had no complaints. Check in was easy and instructions were provided immediately after booking. They were extremely accommodating. I would definitely recommend staying here since it'll be difficult to find a better price, location and stay. Five stars. read more

I really wouldn't recommend this place. Especially with all the other better options available. Very poor unaccommodating front office staff. The cabins are extremely old and outdated. They need major renovations. Heat in the room only covered half the space. Mattress was extremely old, could literally feel the springs digging into our backs. It's hardly a get away location, it's off the main Blvd across from a McDonalds and 711. I would recommend the holiday inn which was great and a much better prime location in the The Village, with very warm and friendly staff. read more

This place is picture perfect from the outside. Really wanted to like this place a lot. The price is amazing and it comes with a kitchenette. What more could you want? We stayed at cabin #5 and of course it was a bit run down with paint peeling. There was still burnt wood leftover from the previous people so we thought maybe we could still use the wood and tv remote wasn't working. Tried using their phone to call front desk but of course their phone wasn't working or it was disconnected? Anyways just used my cellphone and called their front desk EXCEPT their front desk is all the way in Colorado. Anyways Cathy sent a repair man to our cabin to start our fire and new batteries for our remote. It took 30 minutes for him just to get there. He comes with batteries for the remote, but to turn on the tv you use the buttons on the back and then you can use the remote? We also asked him if he could start the fire for us. He said that we would need a fire starter and that we would need to empty out the wood that have been previously used. I guess housekeeper was supposed to clean out the fireplace but didn't. So we went to 7/11 bought wood and the fire starter, came back and we started the fire place. No problem we ate our dinner then the disaster happened. I guess the fireplace vent wasn't opened because of course housekeeping didn't clean it from the previous night. We tried to open the vent but smoke kept accumulating and the fire alarm started going off. I called Cathy and she would send someone to our cabin. Five minutes go by and the smoke was getting unbearable we were helpless and couldn't think of what to do. We had to evacuate the little cottage. Smoke alarm kept going off and the carbon monoxide went off as well. Our eyes were getting watery. We waited and waited another 5 mintues go by we decided to call Cathy again and she said someone would come then hung up the phone. We were looking for a fire extinguisher but there was none inside. It took about 15 mintues for a maintance guy to come to the cabin. He checked the outside and saw that the smoke wasn't going through the vents. He opened all the windows and turned off the smoke alarm. Finally things started to settle down and we went back inside. The carbon monoxide alarm still went off. He turned it off and we asked him is it safe for us to be inside? He claimed that the carbon monoxide alarm was going off because it got too hot. He also said that this was the only time this incident ever happened. Well maybe because housekeeping didn't clean the place properly? At that point I didn't even want to be there but since we only paid for one night thought we could stick it out. We just got settled in for the night and just decided to turn on their old heater system. It was very loud and didn't heat the whole place up. The bed was also very squeaky and random black spots kept appearing even when we dusted them off the bed. To the owners of this place I recommend having a fire extinguisher inside the older cottages that have the older fireplace. Also would like to see maintenance people appear faster because as far as I saw they were only behind our cottage. As for my experience with this place I don't think I'd ever come back to this place. The outside looks perfect but the inside looked like it was deteriorating but slapped on a fresh coat of paint to make it look "nice." Also be warned not all the cabins/cottages comes with a spa. Really wanted to love this place because of all the reviews. Downside of this place is really their customer service. You have to speak to the owner who is all the way in Colorado just to get some help in the cabin which is in Big Bear, CA. Miles away from Colorado.. read more

I wish negative stars were possible... First, an obscene amount of texting from the manager. Fortunately, my husband had to deal with that, but he reported a few texts a day from the time he booked our cabin (#5) until we got there. Second, a cute little map that was extremely UNhelpful as to finding our cabin, & especially the parking space (which was no where near the cabin). We arrived, parked in the wrong place temporarily to unload & then went to dinner where I used various apps to finally determine where our parking spot was. I told my husband that I remember the spot & that was where a huge truck was parked. He texted the manager (off-site by the way) about the truck, & received an answering text from her saying it was her employee & she would have him move. Hunh! Seems like she could have done that before we arrived. The floor (uncarpeted) was dirty & disgusting to walk on. The shower (highlighted in the website's blurb on #5) didn't work right. It "featured" 3 nozzles that were not adjustable, even though they were clearly designed to be adjustable. My husband said that for his shower most of the water came out about waist height & would have been wonderful if he was 3 feet tall. But the absolute, ABSOLUTE WORST was the jack hammer!!!! That went on ALL Saturday (except for I assume a lunch break)!!!! About 30 feet away. Bare minimum, we should have been told about the work being done. And a discount would have been reasonable. I ended up spending about 2 hours in the car (which once again - was no where near the cabin...fortunately, I guess). So I ended the day with a migraine. Don't go!!! read more
