Where do I start... First off the new owners should remove "breakfast" from the title since that's not a thing. But, that's not really why this is getting two stars. The first room we got didn't have a functional deadbolt lock. We tried calling the owners of the facility just for it to not go through like some of the other reviews say. Anyways, the older women who runs it came to check it out and unfortunately had the audacity in the broken English she spoke to just use the bottom lock. Yeah, idk about that lol. My girlfriend and I looked at each other just in disbelief. Fortunately, we were given another room Nextdoor. Typically, my girlfriend and I's routine is to go right to the AC and put it at a reasonable temperature. It did not work. We asked the older lady once again, and she slides over a dusty electric fan. Eek... aside from that, the beds were definitely uncomfortable too. Oh yeah, the fire alarms are detached and thrown into some drawers. I guess the only cool thing about this cabin was some old written diaries talking about the place since 97' when it was owned by the first people who rented out the cabins. Cool stories for sure. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!! Came up to celebrate our anniversary. The new owners speak very very little English. They took us to our room gave us the key and did not see them again till we checked out. The room we stayed in was stuffy and did not smell fresh. The bed was broken on one side. Slept really horribly. The bathroom tilted towards the back wall. The toilet was very short and wobbled. The shower was ok but needed a deep cleaning. The whole place needs a deep cleaning. We were very sad that the other owners were no longer there. Will NEVER stay there again. We checked in and checked right out. The room had that mildewy old smell in it, and it was dusty everywhere. Under the tub you could literally see the crawl space to outside. And the bed was not only old and stiff but the sheets were definitely not changed or cleaned within the last decade. The tub was dirty, the toilet was dirty. The "AC" doesn't work and it was hot asf just sitting in there. The owners are nice don't get me wrong but they don't speak english and their translation device was not translating correctly at all. There was also trash around the area where you're allowed to lounge and the area kinda looked like it was just a hoarders place. Wow I'm a little shocked by the reviews I've read after staying here myself. This is an adorable bed and breakfast Style lodge. It's definitely old, vintage looking, but cozy, and very cabin-esque. It's a 3 minute drive, or 15 minute walk from snow summit. You can't beat the location. All of the information to access Lodge in your room is emailed over to you. I thought it was super easy to get in and all the information was very clear and direct. It's a very adorable Lodge to stay in for a short period of time. They offer complimentary coffee, have a fridge and microwave available in the common area. Our room also came with a mini fridge, we had our own bathroom, two chairs and a tv. It was honestly perfect. I'm already talking to my friends about staying again. I actually like the idea of renting out the whole place, and everyone goes to their own room in the evening, and then can get together in a large area to socialize as we would like. I think this is a great way to also meet people, if you're traveling solo. It's definitely an experience, may not be for everybody, but I had a pleasant time! read more

Right when we arrived the woman greeted us by coughing in our faces. Let it go.. harmless mistake I figured. We get to our room and had no hand towels, on one side of the bed was a shattered glass photo and on the other side were live wires hanging out of the wall. Should have been our sign to leave. Later that night we finally sat on the bed and immediately got coveted in white pet hair. Good thing I wasn't allergic. We manage to fall asleep eventually and were woken up around 4:30am to what I wanted to believe was a squirrel... turned out to be a rat about 6-7 inches long gnawing on our pizza box. Couldn't fall back asleep after that and was extremely happy to see the sun come up so that we could leave. We also got locked out at 8pm and weren't provided a code so I had to call the property and got no answer but a text response stating "I'm on my phone how can I help you" at which point a code was texted to me. The only great thing may be the location but I'd honestly choose somewhere a little off path over this place again. To note, this was the B&B portion of the hotel. Not the cabin suites. No place that serves food should have rats that's big, or at all. read more

I just needed last minute sleeping place for one night. This was the cheapest place I saw that was available for the same day. The room was very cute and so was the rest of the cabin. I slept fine. The air conditioning was loud but I just kept it on until I went to bed to cool down the room then turned it off. The bed was comfortable. Only thing would be it'd be nice if they had someone who worked there who spoke English. She was nice but i had to talk to her using translator on her phone. Got the key a little before the check in time so that was nice but she initially forgot to give me the code to get into the cabin. I came back at night and it was locked but I pressed a button at the office and the lady came and told me the code. Also it's walking distance from Snow Summit ski resort. read more

It was everything you could find at a shared property air bnb except it was $200 versus $50 it would probably cost. We payed a $10 "pet fee" for the reservation and was told it was pet friendly, yet when we check out the lady said we owed money for having our dog. You had to hold the toilet nozzle down to flush the toilette and the tv in our room didn't work other than using our phone to airplay. I saw the previous negative reviews after already booking and wish I read the reviews prior. The quality and furnishings in the room were honestly worse than paying for a motel 6 with cheaper prices. Also, super hot inside (during the winter), room didn't have a fan and the windows did not open at all. It was super uncomfortable and hard to sleep in the room as someone that needs white noise and/or some cold air to sleep. read more

Nice but didn't speak any English. Got us confused with another couple. Stopped us as we were coming in at 10 pm to tell us we owed, wasn't us. Totally different couple. Showed us the card on file and everything. Not us. She even stopped to take a call from her son as we were standing on the door step with our food. Very rude. We explained we got a ground floor as my husband has a heart condition. Apparently they don't make mistakes. I think they double book or they mixed us up. But these pics are not what they appear. If you just need a place to crash for a few hrs it's ok. But I won't recommend. read more

First off - amazing location by Snow Summit. But This is not a bed and breakfast. It is a group of individual rental units. The main house looks like it would be the "office" but it is no longer and is a rental unit itself we found out in a somewhat awkward check-in experience. (The woman owner (?) shoveling snow used Google translate to show us which unit was ours and where to get wood, so some things were lost in translation) For a nights lodging after a long day on the slopes, this was A-ok. We rented a one-bedroom with an indoor spa tub and fireplace, neither which was used unfortunately due to lack of knowing/expectations. They do not provide firestarters or wood (you can buy the latter onsite, but not the former). We went to town to buy a starter to utilize this amenity- bring one - but still the wood was too cold or wet to light. For the price it is reasonable given Big Bear if you need a warm bed and don't have 10 people to share a big cabin. It is a no-frills, no-host experience with dated decor and no on-site support. Little things like wood and fire starter would really make a difference. read more

This place was the best!...until it wasn't. It was kitchy and probably haunted but I loved that! The spirits were not mean. The people who ran it seemed really cool but then kicked us out last minute even though they already took our money for another night. They only speak Chinese but had a translator for that. A word of caution: BOOK ONLINE. If you book with them, they will boot you for a higher paying customer online. The door in our bathroom didn't even shut and the bed was super old. Also, there was a homeless lady that they just let in freely in and out of the cabin....Other than that, They actually were really chill. They had all these vhs, dvds, and cds to play in your room if you'd like. I think this would be ideal for at least 3 people to go in on and rent a cabin just for them because it had hostel vibes with other guests. The space was too intimate for strangers. Loving and caring husband wife couple are there innkeepers of this wonderful establishment!!!! We stayed here over the New Years holiday and they were so helpful, considerate and absolutely amazing. We stayed at the main cabin that has 5 rooms and breakfast is included. Made it super easy for us on our ski vacation since we didn't have to search for breakfast and we can stumble out of bed and head for the slopes without looking for a place to eat. A 3 minute drive to Snow Summit and 7 minutes to Big Bear mountains (including traffic). Make sure you read all the fine print when making reservations. A much deserving 5 star review for this darling place, Eagle's Nest B&B. From reservation till checkout, it was a smooth transaction. Mark and Vicki are the sweetest hosts that I have met. They are both so attentive to their guest and the home cook breakfast was delicious. Nothing better than a fresh home cook breakfast. The room we stayed was clean, beddings and towels are fresh from the laundry. The property is relaxing and calming. The Halloween decors are beautiful. The property is only 1.4 miles away from the village. We will definitely go back and I have told my friends to stay at this place when they want to relax in Big Bear. This was my our first time at a Bed and Breakfast and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! We visit Big Bear quite often since we're only an hour and half away..usually either for camping and biking during spring or snowboarding in the winter. We usually drive up super early for a day at snow summit, but this time we decided to make a weekend out of it so that we didn't have to get up so early and drive back the same day. I'm really picky when it comes to hotels so I did a lot of research before deciding to stay at a B&B. The reason why I decided on the Eagle's Nest B&B because there were so many happy customer reviews. I'm so glad we decided to stay here!! The owners Mark and Vicki are extremely friendly and make you feel totally welcome and at home. They've decorated the B&B cabin so well and it just makes you feel like you're far far away from the busy city environment. There's 5 rooms in the B&B cabin and they are all decorated with different themes. We decided to stay at the Butch and Sundance room this time. ALl the rooms have their own bathroom. Everything was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. Everything about this place feels cozy and inviting. There's a big screen tv in the living room along with a huge selection of DVDs and VHS for you to choose from. There's also basic cable if you prefer. It was fun watching tv in front of the big cozy fireplace at night after a long day of snowboarding. Check in time is from 3pm-10pm daily and check out is at 11am. They serve breakfast either at 8am or 9:30am. We chose the later breakfast since we figured there's no need to wake up early to go snowboarding since we're literally only half a mile from snow summit. They will bring you either coffee, hot chocolate, or tea to your room 30min before breakfast so you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own room. I felt so pampered during my stay there that I wished I didn't have to go back home. Mark and Vicki are excellent cooks and we thoroughly enjoyed all the food they made! Our first day of breakfast consisted of Strawberry yogurt, fresh sliced fruits, and banana peanut butter chip muffins. The main breakfast entree was their version of eggs benedict and OMG it was sooo good! There's also different fruit juices, coffee, and tea served. Our second day's breakfast included Peach yogurt, fresh fruit, and homemade monkey bread!! I usually buy the frozen monkey bread from the market and it is not even comparable to Vicki's freshly made ones! I liked it so much i went back for seconds! Our entree this time was blueberry pancakes with sausage. I was so stuffed from the monkey bread that I barely finished one pancake! They also provide complimentary bottled water, soda, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee throughout the day along with a variety of snacks such as chips, nuts, candy, and cookies for you to munch on. We will definitely come back again!! It really is a great and relaxing experience to stay at their B&B. These owners really love what they do and it shows in the way they run their B&B and treat the guests. This location is really close to snowboarding, fishing, hiking, and restaurants! Totally convenient place to stay if you visit Big Bear. They are right off Big Bear Blvd, next to the Zip Line store. I noticed that some people's reviews complained about road noise, but I'm a pretty light sleeper and I didn't have any problems falling or staying asleep with my own earplugs. My BF didn't use any earplugs and he didn't have any problems sleeping either. They do provide earplugs though for those of you that might be concerned about being right next to the road. I'm really picky when it comes to hotels and cabins, but this place is seriously well maintained and I couldn't have asked for better hosts! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Couldn't ask for better hosts than Mark and Vicki. From our arrival to our departure they made sure all our lodging needs were met -to the smallest breakfast details (Vicki is an amazing chef) to local restaurant recommendations. We stayed at the 'Sierra Madre' and were pleased with the thoughtful amenities throughout the cabin. As if the grounds didnt ooze enough charm, my 3 and 7yr couldn't get enough of the beautiful miniature horses happily grazing in their corral. The main bnb cabin was storybook awesome with a creaky wraparound porch to walk around with your cup of coffee before you make your way inside. Cant say enough about our experience. Just read all the glowing reviews. Looking forward to our return visit. read more

Mark and Vicki are AMAZING!!! This past Friday, there was a snow storm warning issued for the weekend...we left LA around 2:30pm on Friday when Mark gave us a call to warn us about route 18 (5 mi north of route 330) being closed. So we decided to take route 38 but when we neared the mountain around 8pm, a snow plow had hit a car so the route was shut down as well...we kept in contact with Mark and Vicki the entire time, feeling terrible that we'd be the ones keeping them up until we got there. However, they were VERY accommodating and wished us a safe trip as we made the trek up north to take route 18. After being stuck in traffic for a good 4 hours getting up the mountain, we finally made it to the bed and breakfast around 2am. We felt awful (!!!) for having to wake Mark up but he let us right in, showing us our room and making sure we were situated. The room itself was so cozy and cute. I loved that Mark and Vicki would bring coffee/cocoa/tea to your room 30 minutes before breakfast!! The breakfast was simply amazing! Fresh fruit, yogurt and pastries would be left out to grab yourself as Mark made the meals for everybody. On Saturday, we had omelets and potatoes and on Sunday, we had pumpkin pancakes with sausages. The monkey bread was to die for...I can't believe Vicki bakes the pastries herself!! Mark and Vicki are such easy going people and they have plenty of stories and tips to get your weekend going! I really can't wait to come back here in the future and I'm definitely going to recommend Eagle's Nest Bed & Breakfast to all of my friends and family!!! read more

I am happy to give the Eagle's Nest a 5 star review. My girlfriend and I stayed here from 12/13 - 12/15 in the Zorro room and we were 110% satisfied patrons. We arrived just after the 3pm check in time after snowboarding all day at Snow Summit (which is a 2 minute drive away). Mark and Vicki were super nice and gave us the whole rundown on heat, tv, wifi, etc.. We spent most of our vacation on the mountain, but anytime we spent at the Eagle's Nest was wonderful. I will note the only arguably negative part of the stay, as mentioned in other reviews, the Zorro room is not exactly the most quiet. We could clearly hear our neighbors upstairs talking and walking around, we could hear the plumbing in the walls, and being that the room is located on the street, traffic made some noticeable noise as well. However, the location and structure of the actual building is obviously not something in Mark and Vicki's control, so I had no issues. Besides, after a long day of boarding and gorging ourselves on Himalayan and Mexican food for dinner, my girlfriend and I had no issues sleeping despite the noise. I know some people are more perturbed by a noisy room, which is why I decided to include this in my review. Anyways... The pot of coffee delivered to our door each morning was a huge help in getting our day going! And we opted in to have breakfast both Saturday and Sunday morning. The first day was a delicious quiche, along with fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, and lemon poppy bread. The second day was pancakes and sausage, which were good, BUT, I have to say the homemade Monkey Bread was beyond delicious and I filled up on that more than the pancakes. I also want to note that my girlfriend is vegan and Mark was happy to make her a simple potato dish each morning, which she enjoyed in addition to the fresh fruit, coffee, and mango juice. On the topic of food/drink, a mini fridge is stocked with complimentary sodas and water. As I have a mild Diet Coke/Pepsi addition, it was a super nice treat to indulge in an ice cold Diet Pepsi after snowboarding each day. Another HUGE plus if you ski or snowboard is the Eagle's Nest is walking distance to Snow Summit. From our room to the actual ski lift was probably about a 20 minute walk. Much better than paying $20 for parking or taking the shuttle from Fox Farm. Combining the value of the room with money saved from not paying for mountain parking or getting breakfast each morning, I am actually shocked at how great of a deal this place is! Overall, this is definitely a pretty traditional bed and breakfast experience, meaning close quarters and the whole communal breakfast thing (there are 2 tables that seat 2 people and 1 table that seats 4). I'm not usually a huge chatter with strangers, but the environment at Eagle's Nest was so kind and relaxing my girlfriend and I found ourselves chatting with another couple one morning over breakfast for, like, an hour! Great atmosphere, great service, comfortable beds, AMAZING water pressure in the shower, a bit noisy, a near perfect location, and a great deal. 10/10 Eagle's Nest. I wanted to give this place 5 stars, really I did, and the stay itself was fine, HOWEVER... Don't call it a Bed & Breakfast, ask "Will you be joining us for breakfast tomorrow morning? We have two seatings, at 8:00 and 9:30.", and then CHARGE me for breakfast upon checkout. When I expressed my surprise at the charge, Mark (one of the owners) informed me that "we send an email out to let you know about it." Umm, sorry, I didn't get that one. I did receive an email letting me know about highway closures (which was helpful). Maybe in the future you might ask if I received your email about breakfast when you're inviting me, you know, to avoid confusion. The charge for breakfast was not unreasonable ($11.50 per person), and the breakfast itself was quite tasty, but having that charge sprung on me at checkout just ticked me off. An apology from Mark would have been much appreciated, not to mention incredibly simple, and I would have happily left 5 stars. As it was, he just looked at me, said nothing, and I gave him my credit card. I guess it just boils down to I don't like feeling that I've been taken advantage of. Ahhhh so much to say about this place. My boyfriend and I came here to for a little getaway. We went with the Alpine Getaway and loved our cottage suite, we didn't leave the room very much. Breakfast wasn't included but we added it ($11 per person per day) and do not regret it, everything was fresh and delicious and Mark and Vicki were nothing but attentive and nice our entire stay. They provide firewood for one night but we wanted the fire burning all night long so we bought 2 DuraFlame logs (one for each night) that lasted all night long and divided the wood they provided between the two days. Also, they provide a coffee pot and coffee which made for a perfect early morning/late night coffee on the little patio outside. Plenty of towels were also provided (inside the restroom and by the tub). All in all, lovely experience and we are already planning our next stay here during the winter. read more

I stayed here over the weekend Friday 1/16-1/18 and had a wonderful experience! We were running really late as there was a lot of traffic and didn't arrive until almost 11pm. Mark was very kind when we arrived and there was no trouble about such a late arrival. He quickly checked us in and walked us to our lodge, where he went over the entire room so that we were easily acquainted with it. The room was beautiful! We stayed in the Alpine Getaway and for $150 a night it was certainly well worth it! The room had a fire place supplied with one night's worth of firewood, a jacuzzi tub along with scented bath gel, a large and very comfortable bed, mini bar area with sink, microwave, tv, large closet, heat, and ceiling fan. The room was spotless and the decorations gave it a very mountain home-y feel. It was just as quaint and relaxing as I had hoped! We joined Mark and Vicki in the main house for breakfast each morning. They offered two sittings, 8 and 9:30. The food was delicious! They have a small breakfast buffet out for when you first enter in the morning with a fresh pastry (one day it was the most amazing monkey bread and another day it was a fabulous chocolate filled puffed pastry), fresh fruit (bananas, pineapple, watermelon and melon) and yogurt (peach and strawberry). Once you grab your food from the breakfast buffet they offer you coffee and one of their juices (orange, passion fruit blend, cranberry or pear spiced cider...which I had both days because it was so incredible!) The tables and decor in the living room where you eat are adorable. There are a few tables for two and a larger table for multiple parties to sit at. Once you finish your buffet items they main course for breakfast comes out. Both Mark and Vicki are very friendly and happy to help and chat as you eat your breakfast! The first day the breakfast was a baked italian egg dish, eggs baked with italian sausage and cheese. This is something I would never order from a restaurant but really enjoyed at Eagle's Nest. It was served with crispy breakfast potatoes. Both my boyfriend and I cleared our plates! The next day it was pumpkin pancakes with butter, maple syrup and breakfast sausage. The pancakes were some of the best I have ever had and the sausage was cooked perfectly! I honestly don't think that we could have had a better breakfast anywhere in Big Bear. At breakfast one of the days we briefly mentioned it was my boyfriend's birthday. When we returned to our room that evening there was a small, wrapped birthday gift on the bed. It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture! This just shows the type of people Mark and Vicki are and the integrity of the place they run. We stayed in the Sierra Madre suite because it is pet friendly. It is a cute little suite/cabin with a living room/ mini kitchen and a bedroom with no door. The kitchen is complete with fridge, oven/stove, microwave and coffee maker. The cabnits are well stocked with creamer, sugars, cooking seasonings and plenty of pans, plates, utensils. If you wanted to prepare your own meals you could. The bathroom had a cool tub with spa jets and shower combo. Surprisingly the cabin stayed cooler than expected. There is a air conditioning unit and ceiling fan to keep the place cool. Plenty of extra blankets/pillows if you get cold like me. There is also a journal to sign and detail your stay in. Kind of cool reading what others had to say. And free Wi-FI!!! Cant wait to go back!! FYI pictures on website are outdated. Our suite had a newer leather sofa/pull out and newer wallpaper. read more

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Mark and Vickie were great hosts, always taking care of any needs we had. Every morning you get coffee, tea, or hot chocolate before breakfast. Then for breakfast you get a delicious home made meal as well as fresh fruit and some fresh baked bread. The rooms were really great, perfect size for a couple looking to spend a romantic weekend in Big Bear. Rooms had a nice fireplace that really warmed the place up, especially when it's in the 20's or below outside. Great to come back after a long day of Skiing or Snowboarding. Great location: Only a few blocks away from Snow Summit, and only a mile or so away from The Village. The lodge is right next to the street, so there is a little street traffic, but it didn't bother me at all (and I'm a very light sleeper). Great experience, and a great price! If you are looking for a room to rent and there is one available here, snatch it up ASAP before the place gets booked. You won't regret it. There's a reason they have a 5 star review. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and absolutely loved it!!! Mark and Vicki were really nice, attentive, caring, accommodating, and professional. The room was very clean and the seasonal decor all around was beyond amazing. Mark and Vicki offered very personalized service and took the time to hear and share stories with us during breakfast. This is our third visit with Mark and Vicki and, as the saying goes, "third time is a charm"! Really, every time, has been "a charm" because their hospitality is THE BEST! Mark could put some professional cooks to shame with the fluffiest, delicious omelet and the crispiest, tasty hash brown pancake EVER! Vicki makes some killer yummies herself - awesome granola, warm cinnamon monkey bread without raisins (very important to my husband!) and perfect banana bread). Vicki is the sweetest and Mark is so accommodating - they both make you feel like family every single time. We're so happy we've made this place one of our anniversary traditions! read more

Truly nothing but wonderful things to say about our stay with Vicki and Mark! Puppy friendly! Fabulous breakfast! Perfect location! Lovely cabin! Just right amenities! Oh and don't get me started on the two cute miniature horses and precious yorkies... Love them! Home made everything, and the sweetest pet welcome bag ever. My lil Yorkie couldn't stop begging for the home made treats in her welcome bag:) We will soon be regulars here as we see no reason to stay elsewhere. My first Bed & Breakfast experience and it was a good one. The service and hospitality is great and the rooms are clean and well stocked. I like the treats and baked goods that are available 24/7, DVD/VHS collection, and board games. The coffee/hot coco/tea that comes to your room 30 minutes before breakfast is a nice little plus to get you that morning boost. I wold love to come back.
