Love, love, LOVE! Every instructor I've had so far has been incredible - kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. The classes are definitely challenging, but in the best way. They work muscles you didn't even realize needed strengthening. Each session is full-body focused and constantly reminds you to engage your core. When I first started, I could feel how weak my abs were, and now I can feel just how much stronger they've become. My legs are always on fire in that amazing burn-you-love kind of way! Laurie, the owner and an instructor, is a literal dose of caffeine with a sunshine smile! Tiger will dance along to Sabrina Carpenter or Beyoncé while teaching a killer class and noticing each and every detail of your alignment. Sarah R rocks a Snow White vibe but don't be fooled- she will kick your a**! And Sarah L is not only INSANELY challenging but super creative with her choreography (like, no idea how she comes up with her sequences!) Mandy might be the nicest human alive and her OG Hip Hop playlists are to die for! Emily delivers an intense challenge with every class. I started talking class when the studio first opened and was immediately hooked. Class is continually challenging but I've never felt stronger and more confident! (Mentally and physically). Not to mention - Laurie has created a community of instructors and clients that support each other in equal measure. Do not feel like you need to have any baseline of strength to start- it's going to be hard and you're going to be sore either way. Trust. My advice is to take the leap and make sure you drink water and stretch A LOT. And then you'll be hooked too! :) read more

I figured that any gym that can get me to a class before noon on a Sunday deserves a five star review. This studio is fantastic, and has actually gotten me excited about working out after years of relative inactivity. I live right around the corner and after months of walking by, decided to try the 2 class intro pass for $32 (2 classes for the price of 1). I basically hadn't worked out beyond some yoga and a classpass here or there in almost a year, so needless to say I was nervous walking into my first class. For your first class, they are super welcoming and make sure you choose a megaformer in the middle so you have lots of points of reference and they can keep checking in with you. They usually do a demo as well so you learn a bit about proper form. Each exercise is also cued beforehand so you know where to go and can get there quickly. After your first two classes there's another special for three, so I did that, and by then I was totally addicted. I'm on class 10 or so now and there's still a lot I don't know, but I never feel embarrassed or behind because the instructors are SO encouraging, patient, and positive. There's a few moves that my muscles just don't seem to show up for yet (ahem, looking at you obliques...) and they are really good about pushing you and giving modifications when needed. The class is HARD from minute 1 to minute 49, but it's low impact and while your muscles are shaking, I don't ever feel pain or totally out of breath. After my first class I was so sore I could barely walk up and down stairs, but at the advice of the instructors I went back after two days and the workout made me feel a million times better. I still feel sore after each class, just not like the first one (thank god!) After ten classes, I've noticed a major difference in my arms, core, butt, and legs, and I even took a two week hiatus around the holidays. For the first few classes I stuck with Laurie and Eileen, because I had such positive experiences with them, but now I've branched out and taken other classes with Laura and Brent and they were equally awesome. Each instructor has their own style and music and I've thoroughly felt good every time I leave a class. You will be holding a lunge, muscles burning, butt twitching, and yet somehow laughing at the instructors' jokes and overall positivity. Yes, it is pricey if you pay per class and want to go a few times a week, but Lagree and other Pilates classes are always going to be expensive. After paying for monthly gym memberships I never used, I'd rather pay for something so motivational that works. I recently got a monthly membership that makes each class a bit cheaper and I'm happy I did. Also, they have fun specials, contests, and promotions and they use the MINDBODY app so it's super easy to book classes and check the schedule. To say this is my happy place is an understatement. I am absolutely obsessed!!! I had gotten to a point in my life where I really liked working out but Lagree makes me love it. It challenges me in so many ways and I leave feeling like I really did something effective (and earned a little cheat!). The proof is visible: you'll see your muscles shaking while on the megaformer, you'll endlessly sweat, and you'll love the changes you notice in your body. The workout itself is intense--the megaformer might overwhelm you at first-- and it's definitely not easy-- but you'd be surprised what your body can handle. Like the amazing, empowering trainers say, it doesn't get easier-- you just become more accustomed and comfortable. Laurie, the owner, is a sweetheart who truly cares about her clients and it really is like a family. I've never taken a class with her or any trainer and been disappointed. Since starting this workout, I've noticed a change not only in my body (I never had a butt honestly) but also in my strength. Truly the best turning point for my fitness journey has been made at Lagree NY. Every workout is a new challenge in itself and the instructors are amazing at keeping you focused both mentally and physically. I am SO grateful that there is a Lagree method studio in Astoria!! It's like the pregnancy angels heard my complaints about not having megaformers in Astoria and brought this studio to the neighborhood a few moths before the birth of my first child. The Lagree method is, by far, the best and most efficient workout I've ever had. I first heard of the Lagree method 3 years ago, when I asked a friend, who was preparing for her wedding, what workout she had been doing since she looked fantastic. She told me all about the Lagree method and was doing the workout 3x/week. I ended up trying the workout myself and fell in love with it, but the classes were really far from my home at the time and it was difficult for me to continue to attend them. But now, I am thankful that I can walk 10 minutes to this studio! And at 6 weeks postpartum after my first child, this workout is #1 on my self-care list! The owner (Laurie) is also extremely friendly, and I love that she has been supporting the local mom community by offering deals and mom-centric events! read more

i love this studio SO much! it's the perfect place to tune out all the stress and chaos and just sweat and feel great for an hour. it's challenging, but completely modifiable. every single instructor that i have taken (almost all of them) are incredible. Marie's foundations class were the first classes I took at Lagree NY. Not only does she explain what Lagree is, but she slowly explains the machine, how to use it safely and properly, and makes you feel completely comfortable and confident to push yourself. i love night sessions with Tiger, Jamie, and Sarah! I look forward every Friday morning with Natasha. It's the perfect start to the weekend. I always love the feeling after class, so energized and ready to take on the day! My favorite workout studio in all of New York! So glad I found this place and decided to go in. It's close to where I live and it feels like a hometown studio. Everyone here is so friendly - even the other members. The instructors take the time to get to know everyone and you really feel like you're in the company of friends. The workout is brutal in the best way possible. It's tough but it flies by and feels so rewarding after. I usually take class on the weekends with Marie. She's one of the best fitness instructors I've ever encountered. So clear in her direction, so motivating and she really pushes you to do things you didn't think were possible. I feel so strong and accomplished after every class. The space itself is clean, inviting and has lots of light. I don't even know where to start, and cannot sing the praises of Lagree NY enough! I've been coming close to 8 months now, and from the beginning Laurie and all of the instructors I've had have been so warm, welcoming and knowledgeable that you feel immediately at ease. Sometimes boutique studios can be a bit intimidating, especially when it's your first time, but that isn't the case here at all. Now to the workout - I'm super active, spin and HIIT mainly so adding lagree to my workout routine was perfect, but let me say it never gets easier (that's the fun of it haha). I got recommended from a friend, I've taken a class very similar before. They're so effective and a surprisingly tough workout, without straining/overworking your body. I didn't look at the clock once, you're so focused on all of the slow and controlled movements, it really kicks your ass in the most loving way possible, if that makes sense! I had their 2 for 1 special which they have for beginners. I think you have to wear grip socks, I'm not sure if you can go barefoot or not but either way they have those there for purchase. This is my favorite new place to work out! I am a really big guy with a lot of old knee and joint injuries and it's so hard to find a high intensity workout that doesn't inflame old wounds. Lagree is high intensity and Low impact which is perfect. This is one of the hardest classes I've ever done and it engages muscles I didn't even know existed before. Laurie the owner and her staff are incredible and caring and it is a joy to be in their classes. My favorite instructor is Laura Gilreath, she is high energy, attentive, welcoming and most of all she is so so so funny! Her little jokes keep you going all 50 minutes. I don't have much to add except - I strongly encourage anyone wanting to try a new workout, to take a class here! I didn't workout at all before I started - totally not in shape and nervous to start. I figured I would try it out and then probably fall off like other times. But when you feel your muscles shaking in class like they never have before, you come out of class feeling assured that something just happened. Then I became intrigued to what the results will look like from the feeling of such an effective workout! 7 months later, I'm way more fit then I have been in years and the workout is still challenging and effective. What's great though is your body feels stronger and more tone just after a couple of classes (google what Megan Markle says about results after just 2 Lagree classes!) As other have said, it's true after working out here you become more self-confident from your physical achievements and proud of your new fit life. You will hear most of the instructors (which are all amazing) talk about self care which at the end of the day is the real goal and you get that here! read more

LagreeNY has been the best fitness studio that I have ever been a part of. The Lagree workout method has positively changed the way I feel about fitness. I love using my own body weight and resistance from the megaformer machine to get lean with low impact, but high intensity exercises. With patience and consistency, everyone can be successful at Lagree! Besides the amazing machines, the trainers and community are my favorite. All staff members are so friendly and always greet you with a smile. It is not long before you become a regular and feel like a part of the LagreeNY family. I recently discovered this workout on the megaformer, and I LOVE it! Especially great that there is a location in Astoria! This is long overdue! I had the pleasure of taking two classes (that 2 for one special is great!) with Andrea. Fantastic workout. You're challenged the entire time, but not overwhelmed. And it's very humbling - if you think you're in good shape, take one of these classes and then think about it. You'll use every muscle in your body and feel incredible afterward. Also, the studio is beautiful. Lots of natural light, very open and airy and comfortable temperature. Super clean as well. If I could, I'd be taking class here twice a week.
