The house margarita was by far the sweetest and most unauthentic margarita I've ever had--overpowered by sweet-and-sour mix and what tasted like added simple syrup, completely masking any tequila or citrus flavor. For lunch, I ordered the combo with one burrito and one enchilada. Both were very bland. The meat lacked seasoning, and neither the green chile nor the red chile had any real flavor or depth. Everything tasted flat and uninspired. The only bright spot of the meal was the salsa, which was fresh and flavorful. Street parking is available, but not a lot. If this shopping center picks up it could be a challenge. Or May have been an off day or just not enough labor, but the host seemed very stressed out. I only saw one other person working there. My birria tacos had a huge chunk of silver screen. I will not be able to order that again. My partner & I will drive to the cute area called "Prospect" in Longmont just for this cute new little Mexican place. (Sadly, the one in our neighborhood went so downhill we won't go back... :-( ) Here the food is good, seems freshly made to order, is prettily & pleasantly "plated"/presented, & the drinks are good too. The staff are "bona fide" Mexican -- be alerted that some of the young women who seat you/bring the water, etc. don't seem to speak either English or Spanish. This is a good Mexican restaurant. I've had two entrees here: The Oralia's Flautas with chicken are good but not anything outstanding. The Quesabirrias Tacos, on the other hand, are very delicious (but messy); these are fried tortillas formed into taco shells and filled with birria beef and white cheese, and served with a little bowl of the birria broth for dipping. I've also had the sopaipillas, which are also very good; they are medium sized and served covered with syrup and cinnamon and whipped cream. Serving sizes for all items are reasonable (not too big or too small), and prices are also reasonable. One thing I really like here is the decor; the outside is drab, but the inside is all in vibrant colors with Mexican themes. There are huge murals on the walls with pictures of alebrijes, and even the wooden chairs are beautifully painted. There is only street parking, but it is usually not crowded. read more

Welcomed by Friendly service on a very quiet street. Chips and habanero salsa were pretty good, salsa roja had little to no heat lacking flavor. Waitress recommended Quesabirrias tacos and I agree. charro beans ordered had ground meat with hotdog weenies, more juice than beans, not charro by any definition, I had to return them. We chose this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews. Nothing bad to say about the meals but I don't feel they met 5 star quality. The salsa was thin and a tiny serving. The guacamole was fresh but missing some salt, lime and more onions. My Carne Asada had a nice piece of steak, well cooked. The carnitas (pork) dish was delicious. The shrimp tacos were tasty. Went to here for my husband's birthday. Didn't realize they close at 8 PM. They stayed open a little later for us which was nice. Drinks were really good atmosphere is pretty awesome. Great paintings at times. We did have a hard time talking to the waiter communication wise. They speak Spanish. It was a little warm inside. We asked them to turn the heat off and the AC on they do have patio seating. The food was good but not great. I think we might've got the end of a lot of stuff. I have been honored to be invited to many soft opens over the years. I think its a good idea to get some great feedback before you open to the public. I applaud the owners of Laguna to open the restaurant immediately to the public and be welcome to all types of comments. They believe in their product and seem willing to listen to their customers. From the minute I walked through the doors, I felt welcomed and pleased to be there. I had 4 servers who regularly checked on our table over the course of my meal. I spent part of my high school studying in Mexico and every inch of the restaurant has been transformed into a Mexican experience. They spared no expense and I enjoyed to taking in the hand painted pictures and authentic furniture. I enjoy that they offer a traditional Mexican cerviche and a Peruvian version. I normally think of cerviche as a salad but they have offered it as a meal. I chose the Red Chicken which was appropriately named for the owner who made this their specialty dish. It didn't disappoint. My table ordered a salad which was fresh and included huge perfectly ripe avocados. The staff was very attentive to us and provided 3 different dressings on the side so we can make the choice on our own. Over the last 18 months, many restaurants decided to close. The owners of Laguna are so proud of their product and took a huge leap of faith. I think they have a home run and can't wait to see what they do in the future especially when they get their liquor license. Thank you for showing us a piece of your heritage. Had a great $15 lunch (including18% tip) on Taco Tuesday: light, airy, warm, crisp but not greasy chips and spicy but not overly hot free salsa; 2 good sized very flavorful carnitas street tacos with grilled onions and avocado; 1 well seasoned, tender carne asada street taco, with grilled onions, avocado and a light aromatic green sauce; very cold draft Modello. When we first walked in, we were immediately greeted by the friendly host. They brought us to the table and within a minute, another staff member came with chips, salsa, and water for all 5 guests. I ordered the chimichanga with shredded beef and within 20 minutes of ordering, the waiter came out with the food. When I took the first bite, I was happy to find extremely tender beef filled with flavor. The shell was very crispy and the green chili on top was just as good. The salsa had lots of flavor and the chips were salted perfectly. The restaurant was not too busy, making it very enjoyable for our meal. There are many colorful lights inside adding to the warm feeling that the food gives. The waiter let us end out wonderful experience pleasantly by providing mints for dessert. This place was ok. The food was typical CO Mexican food so take that for what you will. However; they took it upon themselves to change my tip. My bill was $109, I tipped $15. The service was ok, not great and that's what I felt they deserved. When it went through my account they ran a $20 tip. Wonder how many times a day they do that. This was absolutely one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had to suffer through! We had a lot of hope going in, but were quickly disappointed and continued to be throughout this trip through Mexican food Purgatory. We figured when the service was so bad, the food had to be good to gather the positive ratings they have. But we were sorely disappointed once again. I honestly can't list all the issues, but here are a few of the lowlights: 1. We asked for a table for 11 and were seated at a table for 8. Three people in our group stood for 20 minutes, and we finally had to go scrounge 3 chairs from other tables after asking 3 times for more chairs. 2. We did not see a server or menu for 30 minutes despite trying to flag someone down multiple times. 3. After being in the restaurant for over an hour the food finally came out, but no one had any clue what we ordered, and we had to send 4 dishes back because they were incorrect after negotiating what was actually on each person's plate. 4. To top it all off, the food was among the worst Mexican I've had in a long time. The green chili had no spice or flavor, meats were fatty and flavorless, tortillas and fried shells were thick and mushy. We couldn't even stand to finish half of what was on our plates. I would hope a place could be good with at least one aspect of a meal, but Laguna's disappointels from the first moment to the last. read more

I was craving Mexican and I'm from out of town, so I went to this place as it came up first on Google. That was a mistake because this place is far from authentic. The worst thing: food is very bland. Not spiced at all like authentic Mexican. Secondly, their cheese is just melted Velveeta or something equivalent. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I'm not sure when they actually opened but their restaurant is new and really cool! The location within our unique little area called Prospect in Longmont is right on the corner and easy to find and has lots of parking. The restaurant's decor is hip and kind of retro. They have beautiful wall murals from abstract dogs, cats and butterflies that GLOW IN THE BLACK LIGHT!!! Our daughters loved it! We made reservations thinking it would be busy but they had plenty of space for our family of 6! Our appetizer was the chicken nachos, absolutely delicious!!! This momma had a Presidente Margarita on the rocks and boy was it strong! Just the way I like it! I ordered the Chicken Taquitos off the specials menu, our girls ate the Asada tacos, smothered burrito and a quesadilla. My handsome man had the trio with Asada steak, Taquito an Enchilada. He LOVED it! Our meal was very good. Our only recommendation would be is adding a few other Mexican dishes to the kids menu such as the chicken taquitos (our 7 year old loved them) and maybe a bean and cheese burrito. And just as a note to grow and improve as a business, the tortillas that were served for one of our meals were crumbly so we couldn't really eat them (maybe waking them up a bit more). I've now been here twice, once for dinner and once for brunch. I love the decorating in this place and patio is lovely too. The service is always friendly. The enchiladas are fantastic; the sauce is delicious. I enjoyed brunch too; I had the chilaquiles with an amazing tomatillo sauce. My husband had a vegetable omelette that he enjoyed as well. Very welcome addition to Prospect Really cool / funky ambiance. You can tell the owners made effort and makes for a very nice atmosphere. We ate on a Sat night but they mentioned they have a mariachi band on Friday nights which we'll try next time Pros: - salsa was very good. Smokey and spicy. As a salsa snob it was very good and passed the test of the table including my Texas wife - house made guacamole was very good. Had a nice sweet finishing taste which made it unique - service was very good - attentive but not overbearing Middle of the fairway: - fajitas were good to very good We had the combo chicken and shrimp. The shrimp were the real deal. Not the small shriveled kind that you can find at inferior locations they were large fresher and tasty and the chicken was good. The veggies were fresh and abundant. The only slight ding was there wasn't a compelling sauce / spice to them. They weren't bland but just lacked a little pop that you normally get from "perfect" fajitas. However If you prefer "naked/ fresh" fajitas they would be perfect for that pallet. Opportunities to improve: - I had their top of the line margarita which is called the Laguna Deluxe. It's very very good however it was $16 and in a small glass - so would suggest to cut the cost. Loved it! Shrimp tacos for me and they were wonderful. I rarely finish a restaurant meal but this dish was so delicious I just kept eating. After I ate all 4 tacos, I ordered their ceviche to-go. It was also just delicious - very fresh. I used to make my way to this little tucked away destination in Longmont solely for Babettes baked goods. Lugana is a little off the beaten path, but absolutely worth the detour. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. My husband regularly gets the steak burrito, and I love the red chicken. The only reason I can't give it five stars is there tends to be some inconsistency, specifically with take out/delivery. I've order from them three times, and visited in person twice, and the delivery orders were never correct. I've received the wrong tortillas, no tortillas, ingredients included that I specifically called out as a food allergy. Last time, my chicken was about a half centimeter thick and quite overcooked as a result. If you can make it in person, the food is delicious and I would go back anytime, but I would think twice about placing an order to go or for delivery. read more
