When I arrived it was exactly how I imagined it, this old school family business reminded me of my childhood growing up in Louisiana, it's probably one of the most unpretentious places you could ever visit this is a true treasure that still embraces the cajun culture. Of course I wanted a little of everything, the fresh unpackaged butchered meats, the packaged seasoned meats including things like tame rabbit, a variety of tassos, cracklins and some of the best boudin on the planet. I must have walked around this store at least 3 times and I'm sure I didn't see it all - I had to keep in mind we were traveling in the RV and planned to be on the road for more than a month after leaving here so space is limited but there are somethings that are a must buy when the opportunity presents itself. The staff here is amazing so friendly and helpful and they can answer all your questions if your not familiar with all the items on display fortunately I was able to explain things to my girl who was in awe of the offerings here. I definitely wasn't leaving here without getting some of the most mouthwatering fresh center cut pork chops, a few other specialty items and of course their delicious boudin. This place definitely deserves a bookmark and if are anywhere within 50 miles or more of this wonderful store you have to get here - this is a rare find and a gem in this community...

With that being said, we live in Houston but had a cooler and ice packs with us so we took a chance and stocked up on some of their stuffed catfish and stuffed chicken breasts. All steaks were cut at angles with bones in places not expected. T-bones didn't resemble t-bones. Sirloins had bones going through them sideways. No ribeye had the eye. They were cut off and nowhere to be found. Cut and quality of steaks we received are impossible to grill. We tried and can't chew it. Not even a great white shark could. I've never got a chuck roast with wide, narrow long bones in it. Briskets were cut thin and tough as the sole of a shoe. Anything we've tried to cook has been a complete disappointment. Only way to eat any of it was to smother it for hours. Some had to be tossed out because there was no hope.

The cheese in the boudin ball is all mixed up in the boudin instead of one big clump of cheese (not knocking it) like some boudin balls have. The cracklins also were pretty darn tootin good, both the balls and cracklins were cooled off a bit so must've been sitting for a while and still good! I paid $14 for all of that so can't complain...and the boudin balls are bigger than a baseball so.
