Was in the area and wanted some boudin balls and stumbled across this place on Yelp. Walk in and there's many coolers full of plenty different things (didn't look around much as I'm far from home and just wanted hot food). There wasn't too much in the little hot box but I went ahead and got 2 pepper Jack boudin balls and 1/4 lb of pork cracklins, and was not disappointed at all. The cheese in the boudin ball is all mixed up in the boudin instead of one big clump of cheese (not knocking it) like some boudin balls have. The cracklins also were pretty darn tootin good, both the balls and cracklins were cooled off a bit so must've been sitting for a while and still good! I paid $14 for all of that so can't complain...and the boudin balls are bigger than a baseball so. Really cool guy behind the register..said he has been open for over 30 years so he's definitely got this figured out. Highly recommend read more

Added to my empty pocketbook, after spending $180 for two turkeys, was dark meat so tough we were unable to eat the leg meat. The other dark meat was so tough it just got bigger the more you chewed it. The white meat wasn't tough, but very dry. I am going to try and make a casserole out of what is left but I am skeptical as to whether or not it can me saved. warming instructions, verbal and written, were very specific. 250 for 45 mins. set and timed. For 15 years the quality was excellent. Several weeks ago we purchased the shrimp stuffed pork chops. The pork chops were delicious but there was almost no stuffing and there was 1 small shrimp in each pork chop. Very disappointed to pay that much for just pork chops. read more

Big, clean, with a good selection of products such as Chicken, Beef, Pork, Squab, Alligator, and Rabbit. They have vacuum sealed and frozen premade products that look delicious. Regular as well as seasoned meat products but not much in the way of smoked meats. This is definitely a good place to start off if shopping for a BBQ. read more

I hate to leave reviews that i feel are too harsh, but let me at least explain why I'm leaving this review: 1. The pricing of their gratton or cracklin is way too high. In fact, it is higher than all of the other specialty meat shops in the area. 2. It wasn't fresh or good. I was really disappointed as they specialize in meat. I hoped for better. I will not eat this again from here. As for what's good: 1. The staff were nice and accommodating. 2. The chicken cracklin is good, though a little on the greasy side. I'm not sure if it is much different than fried chicken but I'd eat it again. Overall I'm sure there are other things I can say and review, but these two items are severely overlooked in reviews, and being a Cajun these matter to me and people like me. read more

I can honestly say everything I have bought from here has been a 10+ and the only complaint I get is that I should have bought more. The sides are just as tasty as their main dishes. My most recent dish was the smoked turkey which is out of this world. Flavorful, juicy and tender. This will forever be on our table for every holiday meal and days in between just because it's so easy (already cooked) and delicious. The stuffed chickens make great and unique Christmas gifts, especially for the hard to buy for or person who has everything. The staff is friendly and always happy to answer my questions. read more

Okay, so I'm a negligent Yelper, but here you go. I won a prize at a party a while back it was a Gift Certificate to Chris' Specialty Meats on Millerville Road. My dentist happens to be close to the market, so I stopped in and got their Chicken and Turdunken Sausages. Since then every time I go to the dentist, I stop in and buy more. They are delicious. The chicken sausage is definitely one of the best I have ever had (my friends will tell you I'm a real foodie) and the turdunken was something I had never had...but now I've had it about three times. I just put them on a stove top grill and keep turning them until they're done. It has become a requested meal, especially when my friends find out that I'm on my way to the dentist! read more

I was on a quest to find rabbit for rabbit sauce piquante, and had a terrible time finding it at any of the big name butcher shops in town. Chris' is, literally, the only place that keeps rabbit in stock. Anywho, I swung in to pick up my prize and had a hard time pulling myself away from the counter. I mean, how can you turn down crawfish stuffed chicken breast?! Or turducken sausage?! I foresee this place becoming my go-to butcher shop for BBQs, dinner parties, and the like. Overall, they have a HUGE selection of regular and pre-seasoned products including chicken, beef, pork, fish (i.e. tilapia and catfish), alligator, duck, venison, and rabbit. I love Chris's and will always keep buying the stuffed chicken, they are delicous, the only thing is, the chicken has been getting less and less all the time. It used to bigger and more chicken, now it is more stuffing and no chicken, plus it cost more. A few years ago, we ordered a ton of pork roast and chicken for my son's graduation party. Chris Specialty Meats is a must for shopping before out-of-state guests. EVERYONE loves the boneless stuffed chickens. (My favorite is the shrimp while my husband prefers the crawfish) We have learned to buy extra for our guests to take home.
