This review is going to be a good-bad-good sandwich. Their service is ok, food generally meets expectations, and it's on south side, close to home. They consistently give us white rice when we ask for brown; when it happens with a takeout order they make up for it by discounting your next meal. It was several months before I went back a second time, and they either truly remembered or just decided not to give me a hard time (I did have the receipt in hand with the staff members name noted). Recipes that say they come with home made flat rice noodles actually come with a ton of vermicelli and some flats mixed in -- MAJOR disappointment. (Head to Pho Lena for the real deal flat rice noodles.) Their staff is also pretty inattentive. The last time we were in, it was quiet and there were three staff working in the front of the restaurant. The older female staff member was talking loudly with two male employees who appeared teen-aged about drinking and partying; it felt pretty inappropriate. When they weren't hanging out with each other, they were on their phones, mostly ignoring their customers. They never asked us whether we liked our food. Final positives: curries are good and the popeye chicken is bomb. read more

Really used to like this place but I'm exceptionally bothered by my recent experience. I ordered take out food and was quoted an hour and 15 minutes which was fine for me to wait, but I ended up spending over an extra HOUR waiting in the parking lot for food. When I went in to ask for an updated time at 30 minutes after waiting it was clear they still hadn't even started my food. I have no problem waiting when I am quoted proper times, or when I'm given a more solid response when inquiring. But this was unacceptable in my opinion when all you ordered was two items and an app, nothing large or difficult. Not to mention i ordered this food to eat as something while getting ready for my flight to work and i spent over an hour of time in my car waiting that could have been used to get ready. I love Lahn Pad Thai!! A huge variety of delicious soups, curries and all sorts of noodle vegetable stir fry's. My favorite is their Tom Yum Gai, always hits the spot with the spice and flavorings. Also their curry has very unique flavor, I would say my favorite in town as well! read more

Half of the beef & a quarter of my noodles were burnt tonight, in my beef drunken noodles. At least it didn't taste burnt throughout the whole dish. I liked the shrimp purses, there was less then half of a small shrimp in that big wonton wrapper. I don't know if it was just an 'off' day for a cook, or what? My take is that this spot is over-rated. I would rate the service a 5 and the food quality a 4. However, the size of portions, pricing and ambiance of this spot brings it down. Would be OK for takeout but dining in is not pleasant but for service. Space is small, lots of in and out traffic for takeout and it is cold inside for this reason during the winter. First off coming in wait staff didn't seem to want to acknowledge my party but eventually made it known we were there, second getting the menus where relatively fast but waiting to place our order took a long time, even had people walk in after us and got their menus and orders before us which made no sense because we were pretty much making eye contact with a waiter that sat us at our table. Probably one of my favorite thai places in town. As far as my personal taste, is right at the salty level that I appreciate in the type of food but I can see how it might be overpowering for some. But it's not just salt, the flavors are well rounded in the dishes we've had, the portions are great (I even brought some home) and it's well priced. I asked for extra spice with my pad kra pao and I was happy with it. I could've gotten it a little spicier but it was already better than other spicy dishes I've ordered from other places. The service was standard and the place seems to stay fairly busy. If I'm craving Thai food and I'm in the area, this is definitely where I would come. read more

Okay. The curry flavor is pretty good. I had the yellow curry. We asked for it medium spicy. Next time I will definitely say not spicy! I couldn't even eat more than 2 bites of my curry because it was so spicy. My fiancé who normally orders everything extra spicy couldn't even eat it at medium spice either. So I don't know if they messed up and put too much chili or we just didn't know what we were getting into but holy crap. I'm still nursing my burning mouth with milk. Yellow curry is normally supposed to be on the mild side. The man who rang us up was really nice but the other older man was kinda rude. He could have been having a bad day tho. For a vegan, I ate here a few times and had amazing food. However, when I came in today, I had a server that was not sure whether the vegetarian options could be vegan or not (some Asian resturants consider fish vegetarian). I wish the server checked with the chef just to be sure. I was confident enough my dish could be made vegan since I talked to a different server last time and he gave me a list what could be made vegan and was knowledgeable about the ingredients in majority of the vegetarian dishes. I had the garlic sauce with tofu and mix veggies. It was good but for me it was extremely oily and the lettuce underneath was not edible. But overall a tasty dish! :) I recommend having the noodle dishes without the meat and have tofu with it. I think the noodle dishes and curries are my favorite! read more

We were about 20 min away from the city and they were nice enough to take a "pre-order" as we called them in, so that our orders would be piping hot and brought out immediately upon arrival. Sure enough, within minutes of being seated, our orders were brought out and everything tasted fantastic. The tom yum soup had like 9-12 medium sized shrimp, although it was $17, it was very delicious. The pad thai was moist (slightly watery) and very tasty, with garlic and spice on the side for those who need more spicyness. The penang curry with beef was very good, and came with rice. It doesn't come with all those veggies that you might be expecting, so just know that. My boyfriend and I are in love with Lahn Pad Thai's downtown express, so naturally we had to try this location as well. When first walking in, we were greeted by cheery smiles and welcomed to self-seating. The restaurant is small yet open, but has quite the contrast to the urban, rustic feel of their new downtown location (but then again, that location IS new). Being the amateur Thai food fanatics we are, S.O. and I already had an order in mind- Tom Yum Gai. Yum. BUT what we discovered upon opening the menu is that they have way more options than the downtown location. (This is where i regret not snapping photos of the menu) It was early when we had arrived, so we ordered off the lunch menu, which will save you a couple extra bucks. We started off with an order of fried spring rolls (not pictured), which were delish. We were also served a little egg something soup, which had a life-changing effect on our little Asian souls (S.O. was hesitant at first, but as soon as he took the first bite, he dove right into that little bowl). Still trying to figure out what that soups is.. maybe egg flower? For the main course, instead of Tom Yum, I ordered the Pad Thai and my boyfriend chose the Kalbi ribs. Within minutes, our food arrived with pleasing presentation. Each meal came with two spring rolls (which was kind of disheartening; had I known, I could've saved $8 by holding off on the appetizer). The food was good, but not the best. My bf enjoyed the kalbi, and the pad thai was okay. Hopefully it'll taste better later as a leftover! This Thai restaurant is a really great addition to the entire strip mall it is located in. I have had the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodle. The lunch specials are made up fresh ingredients, prepared to order, the menu is extensive, and there are vegetarian options. I eyeballed another patron's curry and I think I will get this next time. This Thai food is for sure on my favorites list and I would say it is also very authentic and flavorful. Service is fast, friendly, and family run. Service was decent, hope they can serve based on first time request, we had to request multiple times for small things. However food was served with very little wait time, much appreciated. Dishes we tried: Chicken satay with peanut sauce - decent, okay. portion size came very small for the cost, it could be definitely improved a lot. Red curry with tofu - good, everyone enjoyed. Fried rice with tofu - good, everyone enjoyed. Really delicious. Drunken noodles with tofu - good, everyone enjoyed, very delicious. The drunken noodles would have been great if they hadn't burned them. The service, well its family owned and the young man seem a bit distracted. He heard beef from my chicken order. They remade it. Then I got the burned chicken drunken noodle plate. I asked why they served burned food, The lady says some people like them burned and ask for them that way. I didn't and told her I've never gotten burned noodles from anywhere before. I told her people should ask for them burnt if they want them. She sincerely offered to make me a new one. But I didn't have time. The young man had already gotten the original chicken order mixed up with beef. So this was my second plate. Couldn't stick around for a third. I stumbled upon this great little place while I was waiting for a pair of glasses to be finished next door, and I am so glad I did!! The service was fantastic and they were packed, the whole family was helping out which I love! The younger son was filling waters and taking plates in between finishing his homework. Tonight I had some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten, and I've had Thai food from all over the country. We came for an early dinner with big appetites and we definitely didn't leave hungry. We ordered the spring rolls, crab wonton appetizer special, curry noodles, and green curry. Everything was great, but the crab wontons and green curry dishes were absolutely incredible.
