Tonight I had some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten, and I've had Thai food from all over the country. We came for an early dinner with big appetites and we definitely didn't leave hungry. We ordered the spring rolls, crab wonton appetizer special, curry noodles, and green curry. Everything was great, but the crab wontons and green curry dishes were absolutely incredible. Came in for lunch as I heard great things from coworkers on food quality and service. Services was prompt in watering us and delivering our ordered hot tea. This place has no arctic entry as it is in a strip mall so we were a little cold as people were coming and going. All that changed when we ordered our food, which I requested medium hot as thai hot usually seems to be in the realm of volcano and tasteless, except for the heat. I ordered the Shuchee Tofu for $12.95 which was a red curry with assorted vegetables from green beans, bell peppers, broccoli, and perfectly fried tofu, which I requested over fresh. I also ordered hot tea, $2, which rounded out the meal perfectly. Others ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, and the pad thai lunch that came with soup and a spring roll. The lunches were a better deal at about $9.50 each, but I generally find myself wanting to eat off the regular menu as there are more choices. Decent but wasn't good. Pad see ew, noodles was soggy and not charred for flavor. Chicken was way over cooked and the broccoli was basically just thrown in after being blanched. The overall dish was super salty. The R Pad Kra Pao dish with rice was not good. The bamboo minced pork was supposed to be mild but instead it was super salty and way too sweet. It was supposed to come with an egg but that didn't happened. The rice was decently cooked so at least that was ok. read more

I decided I really wanted some Thai food and knew I could experience this place with my sister, mom and niece along with my daughter. My husband would never say yes to this-he's not a fan of Thai food. Anyway, we had fresh rolls, shrimp purses, crying tiger, beef panang, beef kratiem and chicken fried rice. Everything was really good. All of the sauces were really good. I'd say my favorite sauce was the one with the crying tiger. My mom got a Thai tea and hadn't had one before and loved it. Had a buddy visiting from out of town and we were looking for a place to go and wound up going with Lahn Pad Thai after checking out Yelp reviews. Pretty glad we did. Sandwiched in between some other stores in a strip mall on Abbott, about half way between Dimond and Fred Meyer, it's in a fairly unassuming location and could be easy to miss. It's a pretty small space and seems like they get a steady stream of people coming and going. We were able to grab a table right away around 4:30pm. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Seemed like a Mom'n'pop run type of establishment. Water was constantly refilled and the turn around time between when we ordered and the food showing up was only about 10 min. We wound up going with an appetizer of the Shrimp Purses. Delectable little crispy pockets of seafoody goodness, served with a sweet and spicy soy sauce dip. We also both ordered Thai Iced Teas, which were acceptable +1 :-) For our entrées we ordered the Drunken Noodles and the Pad Thai. I didn't get to try my buddy's PT, but it looked and smelled good. He said it was awesome. The Drunken Noodles were hearty and tasty. I only have two complaints about the DN: some of the broccoli wasn't cooked (not a big deal), and when the server asked how spicy I would like it I asked for 'melt-my-face-off' but it would up only being 'take-a-nice-trip-to-spicy-lane' hot. Price wise, you can expect to probably spend anywhere between $11-15 on average for an entrée per person, more (of course) if you want appetizers or more fancy entrée choices. I saw that they have a Seafood Hot Pot option on the menu, that alone means I'll have to come back here at some point. So overall, glad I chose to check this place out and I'll be a repeat consumer-of-mass-quantities. read more

The ladies in my fam had a girls day out and decided to have lunch here. We ordered from the menu and perhaps it was our fault for not mentioning that we wanted the lunch special(hence it is during lunch), we ended up getting the regular plates. When my sister asked, the waitresses exact words were, " Oh. We didn't know youguys wanted the lunch special. Youguys didn't tell us." She was correct, we didn't mention it...but as a waitress, she should have clairfied it before putting the order in. Regarding the food, I ordered the yellow curry, it was good but a bit plain. The chunks of chicken were a bit too big and dry(solely chicken breast). My neice got drunken noodles and half the noodles were burnt. The rest of the food was good but I felt that there could be some improvements with the customer service and presentation of the food. read more

We had high hopes for this place based on reviews- alas, the hopes were not exactly met. What we did like was the quality of food we got! However there wasn't much of it, compared to the portion sizes of other local Thai food eateries we have visited here in Anchorage (and Portland before that). We had the drunken noodle with tofu, and there were about 8 noodles in it. Mostly it was vegetable- a bit of a surprise! I've never had so few noodles in that menu item anywhere. But the flavor was good :) We also ordered the corn cakes which were pretty good- a little less corn than expected and more breading, but again quite tasty. The best dish was the cashew pineapple yellow curry rice (which we saw on Facebook). The portion on this was up to our expectations and again flavor was great. All in all the quality was good for us, but considering the slightly higher prices and lower sizes, this place isn't going on our 'come again' list. read more

So came here for the lunch special because word of mouth is that it has the best pad Thai in Anchorage. Well it was okay, I had gotten the drunken noodles and my friend got the pad Thai. My noodles were a little salty and there wasn't much too it but it was still tasty. My friend asked for a level two spicy and they said we do it ourselves like in Thailand.. okay I get it, however don't be snippy because 9/10 most people have not had the opportunity to go to Thailand. Small strip mall location. It was cold. Like leave your coat on while eating cold. It was not the most pleasant experience I've had, and there was alot of noise (dishes breaking). We ordered pad thai, and Larb. The Larb was marked as a 3 in heat on the menu, and we asked for a 2. I asked for a 3 in spice for the Pad Thai and it was good, but the lunch serving was tiny. I was still hungry after eating. The Larb would have been inedible if not for the rice we ordered to go with because it was SO SO SO spicy. I don't think I'd go back in the winter, because it's just not comfortable to sit and eat with my coat on. I would probably order an entree order next time if I do go so I can get a bigger portion. read more

I must have ordered the wrong dish. I checked out this place because of all the reviews. but eh, it was a disappointment. Granted, I only ordered one dish. maybe others are better? I am in a study spree and ordered food to-go so I can continue my studies. I got the Padseeew noodles and the noodle was overcooked and mushy. it was not tasty. The flavor was descent. they are not stingy on the chicken in the noodle. however, my noodles were in a blob, too soft, and clumping together. I had never been to this restaurant before but had heard good things from a few different people so I had higher expectations than I probably should have. I ordered the "Beef Noodle Soup" described as "rich beef broth" with "flat noodles or thin rice noodles" served with thinly sliced steak, celery, cilantro, green onions. Before I ordered I asked the waiter if it was close to Pho or was it Pho, which is what I was craving for. His response was "it's the closest thing on the menu to it". Which what he should have said was flat out no. Because now I had this assumption it was going to be Thai made pho( it was made by a Thai person) Me being Laotian I expected my Ma'a homemade pho.. which is was not pho at all. We also had the appetizers; fried tofu which was pretty good, not over cooked or anything. Came with a sweet sauce. Wasn't amazing, just good. And the Angel Wings which was chicken with what looked like the stuffing in egg rolls, this was pretty good as well, but also not anything that "wow'd" me. When my soup came I was immediately disappointed.. the portion size was small for the cost and the broth was really dark, so I knew it was going to be really rich (salty). But at that moment I realized that it wasn't pho at ALL. The soup WAS rich as described but it was waaaay too salty. Didn't have the beef flavor really, just kind of tasted like packaged instant noodles honestly. They didn't have any seasonings for it which I thought was strange, you can request seasonings of course, they just weren't on the table. I will say they did have an option to have them make it spicy for you, I wished I had done that. :/ Service was good. Didn't wait for them to refill my water, which for me personally is a big thing. Small space but I don't feel crowded there. Over all food was ok. Soup was just way too salty and small portioned. Not really seasoned for taste. I hope to return and try something else that will hopefully win me over. read more

Hadn't been here in years. Ordered Tom Khar Soup and basil veg dish. Noticed on menu soup had mushrooms listed. Told server we don't want mushrooms, we won't eat them. Server did not write order down. Soup came with mushrooms. Server questioned me and realized his mistake and had soup remade. Then we noticed the basil vegetable dish also had mushroom in it even though menu did not list mushrooms as an ingredient. We pushed the untouched dish to the edge of the table. I asked server to remake the dish. After a long wait he came and said they would remake it but it would take a long time since they were busy. I told him to not bother remaking it. He left the untouched basil veg w/mushroom dish on the table the whole time we ate the mediocre soup out of very tiny bowls. Then asked for the bill. He charged for both dishes. I declined to pay for the mushroom dish. After another long wait, he said management won't charge this time & they don't want to argue., and next time I need to specify no mushrooms (remember mushrooms were not listed as an ingredient and I told him we don't eat mushrooms). I told him technically mushrooms are not a veg but a fungi and they were not listed in the basil veg dish. We won't be going back. Poor customer service. We were not arguing just want to be treated fairly. Ideal customer service would have been to apologize, offer the soup dish complimentary and say something like please come again, give us another try. We were made to feel very uncomfortable and the situation was not our fault. They are lots of Thai restaurants to choose from in Anchorage. Lahn Pad Thai didn't meet our minimal expectations. read more

Love this restaurant. It has never disappointed! The service is always very friendly and the food is excellent with fresh ingredients and complex flavors. My favorite is the drunken noodle (huge plate, with perfectly soft thick rice noodles). I've also had the green curry, also delicious and not too sweet. I had to stop in to do some work and I am do glad I had the pleasure of meeting Cherry! If you try anything you must try their super delicious Pad Thai. The Thai iced tea was spot on as well. The restaurant is small but the owner Cherry and her staff are very friendly and attentive. The service was quick and the food came out very fast. This place gets super busy at lunch time. We're vegetarians always in search of great veg-friendly places especially when traveling. The staff at Lahn Pad Thai were very friendly and attentive. The young man who seated us didn't speak much English and was quick to get a server who could answer our questions. He kept our water glasses full. The server suggested that we get Pad Vun Sen with tofu. It was thin stir fried glass noodles, loaded with veggies and we had the option of fried or soft tofu. Make sure to ask for "no fish sauce" and specify whether or not you want eggs. I learned that most Thai places in AK will add fish sauce to vegetarian dishes unless you specifically ask or say "vegan". My husband got the green curry with tofu and liked it. I'm leaving one star off because they don't have a kids menu. We'll be back :-) read more

Seen all the reviews and decided I will go there today for lunch for my pad thai fix. Cute small restaurant. The staff were extremely nice. Pad thai lunch was super. Small bowl of soup, spring roll, rice and pad thai for 10.50. They has numerous orders to go. The lady behind counter even noticed when I was getting full and had the waiter bring me a to go container.
