Lamb Chops with rice
Cesar V.

My friend and I were looking for a last-minute dinner spot in the neighborhood and decided to give Laila Mediterranean restaurant a try after enjoying Serena's bistro across the street. We were warmly welcomed by two women who seated us and offered us a choice of tap or sparkling water. We opted for tap water and found the open layout of the restaurant to be very inviting with a chill vibe. We decided to skip drinks and went straight for appetizers and our meals. The hummus and liver sausage appetizer was an acquired taste, but the hummus was delicious. My friend originally ordered the seafood salad, but it wasn't available, so they made an octopus salad instead which was a 10/10. I ordered the pork chops cooked medium with rice and it was absolutely delicious, also a 10/10. Overall, we had a great experience at Laila with friendly service and a great location. I highly recommend stopping by to try their delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

Absolutely would recommend this incredible place to everyone who can go! The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff was attentive but not overbearing. We randomly stopped for dinner after a long drive and the food was divine. We even ate the leftovers in the car on the way home. So great!

Looking for a place for outdoor dining and this was just the spot. Parking is a little tough, but there are valets there to assist. I ordered beef liver, labneh for appetizers and original lamb kebab for entree. The flavors were magnificent and portions are very generous, had to take left overs home. I loved the beef liver that I think I would order that and grilled vegetables as my meal.

Now THISSSSS is a place. Great food, amazing vibes, live music, AND BELLYDANCERS. Like...wow. Had a blast. Also, it's BYOB. YASSSSSSS!!! But legit, I ate and I ate WELL. Had the sampling of dips (hummus, baba, labneh, muhamara), the shrimp appetizer, fried halloumi, fries, and the the chicken and beef fattet shawerma. Everything was SO good. Everything about Laila is an experience. There's dancing, there's a little show, the food...everything. Really had a blast.

I loved Laila! The food and service were fantastic throughout the whole evening without any shortage of attention or communication. I have no complaints and would highly recommend everyone to dine here. I started off with labneh and hummus paired with the table side fresh bread. Perfect starters and assured me that I was in for a good night. Waiters were very attentive and quick on their feet. Quickly came out my meat shawarma, and oh my does this dish look spectacular! The meat was cooked just right and the fries were seasoned very well. I really liked the flavor of the meat, absolutely no complaints in this department. I ended the night on a high note with their amazing kunafa, which was one of the better ones I've had. Overall, I would say if you are in the mood for Syrian food on the island, Laila must be considered. The food, service and ambiance was a complete set and I couldn't be happier with my experience.

It's standard practice to post a picture of the food but this restaurant was way more then just food. Don't get me wrong the food was Amazing!! I hosted my 40th Birthday party there and the atmosphere was great. The owner Alan came around over and over to make sure everything was going well. Yes the service was great, plenty of amazing food, drinks, DJ and entertainer/ Belly Dancer. This was my first time there and my whole party and I enjoy every minute there. Alan and his servers made us all feel comfortable and not rushed at! We will definitely be back.

I found this place by accident. I was heading down. Hylan, toward a diner that I like. I saw name…read moreon the sign, and it looked like a nice restaurant. Not knowing what type of a restaurant it is, I decided to stop in. What a pleasant surprise. It was a Turkish restaurant. There was a good amount of people in there, but it looked like I was the only "white boy." Everybody was very friendly, and the place was clean. I liked the atmosphere. I started with the baba ghanoush. I loved it. The flavor of the roasted eggplant was delicious. And the roasted flavor kept it from being too rich. It was creamy and delicious. I almost didn't have enough bread to put it on. And believe me, I was piling the bread high with that stuff. There was also a small bowl of marinated green olives on the side. I normally do not like green olives, but these were fantastic. The olive oil marinade kept them from being too bitter for me. For my main course, I had the Adana kebab. Ground lamb, red bell pepper, and paprika. I had a small, which was one kebab. It also came with a very nice marinated salad, and a decent size portion of rice, which was tender and had a good flavor to it. It also came with a red sauce and a tzatziki sauce.. the red sauce was too spicy for me, and the tzatziki I put some of it on the rice, and then the rest I dipped my kebab. The kebab wasn't spicy at all, and the red bell pepper, and the paprika gave it a great flavor, it was not gamey like lamb can be. It was also very tender. Everything was so good, I ended up finishing the entire dinner, and I was stuffed. I would've loved to try a Turkish coffee, but it was like 8 PM, and I didn't want to be up for the rest of the night... :). The price was reasonable. The only reason I'm taking off a star, is because they add an automatic 18% gratuity to the check, and then there's also a spot down at the bottom for a second gratuity. That's why you need to read your check very carefully. If you don't notice the automatic gratuity, you might end up paying a double tip. I thought the automatic 18% gratuity was more than fair. This was a great place. They also do breakfast. I would like to come in and try breakfast sometime. Thank you.

Parking is convenient, with spots available on both sides of the restaurant and across the street, which is always a plus in New Jersey. Once inside, the atmosphere completely shifts. The interior is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed, giving off an authentic and comfortable vibe. The staff were equally impressive--attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The food lived up to the experience. Everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared, though I would say it leans toward the more expensive side. Paying 18% and then 2 % card fee seems a bit much on the top of that the courses were a bit pricey. That said, the quality is there. The fresh bread and olives served at the start were exactly what we needed--simple, delicious, and perfect after arriving hungry. Overall, a great find that rises well above its surroundings. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

For appetizers we had Oysters Rockefeller and Avgolomono Soup. The soup was very good, though the oysters could have used more salt in my opinion. My Dad ordered a drink which, apart from being delicious, came in a very unique cup. The seafood entrees we ordered were tender and fresh, which I could tell because none of them had any noticeably fishy smell. The fillets I ordered were deboned flawlessly. I felt that the fish was cooked just right, and salt and pepper were provided on request. Great value at time of visit. Would recommend and visit again.

The eggplant salad tasted a little bitter to me. - my main was whole fried snapper. Nice and crunchy but a little bland. Small side salad also was a little bitter tasting. Lemon potatoes were a little disappointing. They could be a little more lemony. - friend had baked cod with potatoes and seasonal veggies. Desert was written on menu as strawberry crème brûlée but it was actually regular crème brûlée with small slices of strawberries on the edge. It was delicious. There has been a surge of Mediterranean restaurants opening in Staten Island and there is a lot of competition. There's a small parking lot in the rear so that helps since New Dorp is tight. Service was excellent. Clean restroom. Glad to see a large crowd dining on a Friday evening.

Interior design is so aesthetically pretty and provides a wonderful and elegant dining experience!…read moreThe service provided by Behrouz was attentive, friendly, and warm, which definitely helped enhance the dining experience! Now onto the main topic, the food: This is by far one of the better middle eastern/seafood restaurant in all of Staten Island! The appetizers that were amazing were the chargrilled octopus, which is a MUST-GET, and the half dozen oysters which was by far one of the sweetest oysters we ever had (it was so good we ordered 3 orders!) The tuna tartare, calamari, and lobster bisque were all decent but nothing too special. For entree, the lobster pasta was perhaps one of the best tomato based pasta I ever had! Although the amount of lobster in the dish was on the smaller amount for its price, the flavor was so savory, sweet, and perfectly tangy, highly recommend it! The sea bass was good according to my family, but the flavor was on the milder side in my opinion; they liked it nonetheless so perhaps it's just a personal preference at this point. The lamb shank I would not get due to how overpowering it was; the sauce was salty and intense, where it overwhelmed every part of the dish. It was unfortunate because the lamb was so tender and had a nice proportion between its meatiness and its fat content. The dry aged steak was only okay too, since the spinach was so watery it soaked the steak in its liquid (as you can see from the photo), which detracted from the dish unfortunately. Overall it was a decent dining experience, where some were amazing and others were less so. It's a pricey dining experience but if you get all the right dishes, it's worth the price tag! Definitely recommend giving Sea Bar a try and I can't wait to come back again one day to give them the five stars I know they can definitely accomplish! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

They had the grilled watermelon salad and beets apps also delicious . Bronzino that was given was a hearty amount. The drinks were on point.
