Heard great things about Lake Alice through the grapevine and decided to stop by for lunch after a round of golf. Went with the turkey club & an ice cold Coors. Despite the crowd, my food came quick and was nothing short of spectacular! Most importantly, the atmosphere was amazing. They have enough TV's to take care of anyone who might be looking to catch a game, 5 pool tables for any of you pool sharks, great music, as well as a group of kind & attentive staff! Amanda (manager I believe) was walking around asking everyone if their food/drinks were good, conversing and laughing with customers. What an experience! The staff members were super friendly. From the moment I walked in I was greeted, got drinks and food in a timely manner, and the manager came over to ask how everything was. The place is dirty and so is the management and they don't give 10% off for county employee's which I find odd since there in the heart of downtown and SOOO many county employee buildings are walking distance to the restaurant. Came here for my birthday, and I loved the vibe. Was greeted by a super friendly bouncer and got sat right away. The music was at the perfect volume loud enough but I could still hear and talk to my friends. It's open seating, our waitress was friendly and knew the menu really well, and I liked that they had a couple game options to play from. Food was good. Service was the worst I have ever experienced. Everyone was looking around for a waitress except the people at the bar but the food was delicious. It's not worth it to go there except maybe to sit at the bar. I won't ever sit at a table there again but I will order food to take home. Guys & gals at Lake Alice, what's going on with the business? I've been a regular and an occasional customer over the last decade. Yesterday, the bar was the dirtiest I've ever seen it. Dust on the bottles, crumbs on bartop and boxes sitting around everywhere. None of the bartenders or wait staff were performing standard front of the house cleaning for the almost two hours I was there. Come on guys, you are better than this. And, did you do away with Taco Tuesday? Remember, I'm an occasional customer now. So, it was news to me if you did. If not, the bartenders did not mention any specials and there were no marketing materials readily available that touted Taco Tuesday. Our bartender was pleasant and moderately attentive. So, there was at least one positive to the visit. Also, the TouchTunes jukebox is not working properly. When asked, the staff said it just works intermittently. Apparently, there may be internet connectivity issues that need to be addressed. When it's not working, at least play some music. I had to suggest putting on background music to drown out the video game noises from the end of the bar. Please let your patrons know what is happening. Regulars become occassionals and occassionals become never agains. read more

Let's just start w/ the color of both drinks, they both shouldn't look like that. now let's look at how they are 2 different colors on top of it. There is no consistency. 6 people at the bar and she couldn't remember if I wanted a half or full salad. I asked for a bulleit bourbon and got bulleit rye.. ughh there's a difference. This is a place for fries and beer. Came in to watch a Dodger game and left disappointed. We stood at the bar initially for over 5 minutes before someone took our drink order. We found a table but had to ask for a menu as none of the servers were paying any attention to us. Call it bad business practices as we were wearing Dodger jerseys and showed up 1.5hrs before the game so clearly going to sit here for the next 3+ hours and ready to spend money as we left the tab open. Ordered nachos with no meat and it was okay food. We ended up leaving early as I was not about to flag down a server every time I needed another beer. They clearly know their regular customers and tended to them. Most likely won't be coming back. I'll find another spot close to home. read more

Stumbled across them gem quite by accident and we were WOWED! The food is amazing! The Monster Turkey sandwich is particularly melt-in-your-mouth delicious. That bread is the stuff dreams are made of! The service we received from Sierra was excellent--which is super rare these days. It was refreshing to be waited on by a server who works as though she enjoys people and her job. Friendly, attentive but not intrusive. We WILL be back! Got to try the burgers next time. Huge bar! Lowkey divey but that's what I'm into so I didn't mind at all. We stopped by the wknd of my birthday as we cruised through a few places downtown. This was my favorite stop by far! There were pool tables and a live band, the crowd was relaxed but everyone seemed to be having a great time. The highlight for me was the nachos. Bar food is always a little sketchy to me. But OMG, legit the best nachos I've ever had! The meat was cooked perfectly, the cheese was shredded not that watery nacho cheese. It was topped with fresh grated cheese and that's what set it off for me. I honestly had a few apps that night from different locations downtown and I could not shut up about these nachos. Still thinking about them actually, I think now would be a good time for me to head back. read more

The food here was good, and the ambiance is also pretty good. However, coming from someone in the restaurant and bar industry, this place needs WAY better service. I was extremely disappointed in the servers/bartenders attitude towards me and my friends. We do look young, so that may be a factor but we provided our ID and had a great attitude despite the lack of hospitality on their part. Management definitely needs to find some bartenders with a better attitude, it's a bad look. read more

The service was not great. We was there to watch a game on Christmas day. We was up in the loft area and there was a couple that came up a boy friend and girl friend she was a 49er fan he a raven he was asked to leave the room or take his hat off. So in other words they both had to leave if they wanted to be together and watch the game together. Not right poor business. Then you have the bartenders up there doing shots. They was saying they had to get out of view of the cameras also not right. We then went downstairs to be able to sit with our friends and got absolutely no service. Had to go to the bar ourselves. The waitress seen us there and went to every table but ours she avoided our table at all cost. When we confronted her she acted like she didn't know very poor service. Explain to me how Lake Alice is the home of the 49ers Club but can't install a TV larger than 42". They have the wall space that is just wasted. It's packed every Sunday with 75% of the people being 49ers fans and we can't even see the game because the TVs are few and tiny. TVs are cheap. Quit being cheap and buy multiple huge TVs. I don't know why Niners fans chose this place to be their home bar. Lame! read more

My boyfriend and I come here mainly for their food, which is normally pretty good and the only reason I'm not giving this place one star. We came here last Thursday night and had the WORST experience. Our waitress was the rudest person we have ever dealt with. She is clearly in the wrong industry. Not to mention the pina colada my boyfriend ordered had maybe a thimbleful of alcohol in it. We each took a sip and he told our waitress it tasted extremely watered down and our waitresses response was "okay?" Didn't offer to make it right, didn't offer to get him something else, nor did she even take it off our bill. He didn't even drink the damn thing. We left it on the corner of the table. Anytime we tried to get her attention she acted so inconvenienced that we needed something. So finally after over an hour of practically begging for service we decided to leave got our check left the cash on the table. As we were walking out she runs after us says "so are you guys paying cash or what?" I have years and years of bar industry experience and have never experienced anything like this. Lake Alice you need to hire people who actually want to be there and provide service. This experience might cause us to never come back. Bummer. Also, whoever is in charge of the sound system needs to educate themselves on how to actually work their system. The music sounded like shit. Felt kind of bad for the dj. Okay, so I give Lake Alice four stars because I love the place..... period! It's been around for ever and for a basic big bar, it has some really excellent food choices. Games, tv's, live music and located smack dab downtown Riverside. They also have a nice little patio area street side if your in need of a cigar or street view for people watching. I came with my friend for a night out. Taken back by the $8 cover charge. Paid it fine. Pretty empty. Ordered drinks downstairs, came upstairs sat down. Finished our drinks and waited and waited for the server to come to us. She hit the other table, but never us. We went downstairs to get another round. Came back up, drank them. Got one of the servers attentions for a menu, and I kid you not, we waited 45 min for someone to acknowledge us. We ended up having to wave our hand for another server to take our order. Rating is solely based on bar food and lunch hours. First, I would definitely recommend ordering the wings; At an affordable price of 11$ l/b and the perfect texture and crunch to their buffalo wings, I would hands down recommend ordering the wings. The bar has many beers on tap, a mixture of IPA's and October fest brews and hard liquor I'd say the selection is expansive. Interior wise the tavern has many amenities such as multiple televisions, classic pinball machines, foosball and billiards the location is perfect for a casual gathering or even a romantic evening. Service: Amazing, was checked upon numerous times and got my beverage every time it was near empty. Overall: Great wings, great interior, amazing service and definitely a good time! read more
