Got some great beers from this brewery. It has been one of the main reasons to get off the Metra trains at this station. Lake Bluff Brewing Company has been in business quite a few years. A kind of limited amount to choose from but these are well crafted. The prices are okay if a bit higher. Came in and we got a table so we could drink and eat. It's only got beers but you can bring in stuff. There's plenty of places within a fast walk. As for the beers here, the selection is kind of limited. It's about $7 a pint. Best one we got was the Sour Belgian Monkey Strong Ale. It's 9% ABV and certainly strong. For food we went to The Otherdoor. It's about $11 for a few tacos. Also Maevery Public House is next to here. There's lots of close by restaurants and stores. Have a good time with beers and games. It's just beers on the menu but you can still bring in stuff. However, the bar tender was pretty quick with all the orders coming her way. She was friendly and helpful. I order a beer flight. Their flight consists of four beers of your choice. It's pricey ($16) but it was worth trying since it was my first time. I tried the Blake's Triple Jam Cider, Honey Badger Golden Ale, Warsteiner Oktoberfest, and Destihl Brewery Drangonfuit Mango Sour. They were all good. My most favorites were the Golden Ale and the Sour. The atmosphere was good. It can get loud inside. They have inside and patio sitting area. There's also a (small) food menu with select items like fries, chicken tenders, sandwiches and burger which comes from a restaurant next door. I did not try the food on this visit. My husband and I always stop here for a few beers after a long bike ride. It's right in the heart of downtown lake bluff off the bike trail and close to the metra station so it's very easy to get to. We both took off work because it was such a nice day so we decided to get a couple beers and enjoy the weather. We were able to get our beers right away because it was early and there weren't a lot of people out. Their beer is pretty good and we like that they make their own and always rotate them for the season. They share a kitchen with Mavery so you are able to order food if you want! I love this brewery. I will start with the good! The street it's on is so cute and we love sitting outside so we ordered a few beers and a flight and enjoyed the day :) We are also brand new parents.. and we went to the bathroom to change our son and there was NO changing table. Huge disappointment. If I was alone with my husband I'd be a little shaken as a new parent and new at going out. We ended up changing him outside in public on a chair which wasn't cool at all.. for me or for him. The second time we wanted to change him we tried next door at the place that supplies the food and again there was NO changing table.. I'm actually very surprised at both establishments not being baby friendly at all.. it made it very hard on a first time mom :( Please change this. For some reason this has become my goto Covid getaway. They have a great outdoor setup with socially distance tables set up in the street and also can use park picnic tables. Once you are seated by the host you order beers thru their website and note ur table number and they are delivered to ur table. Very little contact throughout the process makes it easy. I am giving it 4 stars for food and service and location and music. They often host large parties for the public called block parties- these are always fun. This is a staple for LB locals. I would go more if it wasn't always packed and there weren't so many small children. I never understood bringing small children to bars but LB seems to just be that way. The Rundown: Nice selection of craft beers made in house, super mellow and laid back staff, excellent vinyl records selection, and just a stones throw away from the Metra line stop. Overall: I'm a fan. After having doing lunch next door at Maevery Public House, we stopped by here to sample some beer flights before catching the next Metra train out. They do offer both pints priced individually per beer and flights of 4 for $9. For my flight of 4, I tried their Honey Badger Golden Ale, Pablosaurus Brown, Belgian Monkey Darkstrong ale, and the award winning Velvet Hammer Imperial Robust Vanilla Porter. Really fun to say those names out when you're ordering, but out of the 4 my favorite was for sure the Vanilla porter. Nice flavors of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Think of like a nice dessert in liquid form. Delicious! I did happen to try some of my fiance's flight and really enjoyed their Citra Inspired American Pale Ale. A really nice and easy to drink citrus-y pale ale that I wouldn't have minded ordering a pint of. If you happen to get hungry, they do have a limited menu from Maevery next door to order from. Having just come from lunch there, I did notice that it does cost a dollar more if you order thru the brewery. The fellow patrons seemed to be super friendly and willing to talk if you sit up at the bar. Overall, a cool spot to hang around for a round or two and relax and enjoy the weekend. My unabashed favorite is Honey Badger so I get slightly giddy when I see that it's on the list when we go. My husband typically orders a flight. Between the two of us, I imagine we've tried most of the beers and we keep going back. The food menu is small -- a couple of sandwiches and pizzas that they have pre-made locally and cook in the back. Music selection in this place kicks ass. They regularly play vinyl, and it's good stuff. One of the staff -- I don't know his name -- has amazing stories about his time traveling and working a variety of jobs. This is also a regular pit stop for cyclists in the area so there's always someone to talk to and get a story from. This place is pretty dope for the burbs! Decided to stop in since I commute to the city from the Lake Bluff train station and it's a short walk over. Really nice and personable bartenders. Go get the "Honey Badger" brew - nice and light for a warm day outside. There's no happy hour specials available which was a disappointment, but it is the burbs. Lake Bluff Brewing Company is really chill and I enjoyed my time there. I went with some friends and there was a wedding going on across the street. Looked to be a small affair with just about 10 people and afterwards they came and drank some beers on the sidewalk tables. That's my idea of a good, relaxed wedding. Service was spotty. At first our server was very attentive and friendly but as time went on she became less in both areas. My girlfriends had issues deciding what to eat and drink. They were being good sports going to a brewery with me but they aren't into beer. There were a few wine & prosecco options that my friends had but they weren't big fans even leaving their drinks practically full. For eats, I ordered the chicken panini. We all thought the paninis sounded really good! I tried to order mine without onions but was told they are all premade so they can't make accommodations. I was okay with that but that turned my friends off instantly. My thought is they make them in the morning to have them readily available to heat up but my friends were sure this meant they are just ordered in from somewhere. Either way, I suggest making them fresh for people so accommodations for likes/dislikes/allergies can be made. With only about 6 options for food, it would be fabulous to encourage more people to dine in. I had my chicken panini and tried my friend's turkey panini and no matter what the premade situation is, they both tasted delicious. I really liked them both! I had heard their pretzel was amazing from a friend who was at Lake Bluff the week before but honestly I didn't find it to be anything great. Definitely can be skipped. For my drinks, I had the beer flight for $9 which includes 4 sample beers. They put little tags on each beer so you can match the number to the corresponding beer on their chalkboard. Good system that works well. They have a beer called Honey Badger! If that's not the coolest thing then I don't know what is. Honey Badgers don't give a @#$%! Not gonna lie, I wasn't big on the taste but the name is so cool I overlooked that. I also had their Black Squirrel Bourbon Ale, Hard Tail Imperial IPA and Inspiration Pale Ale in my sampler. I found them all to be quite average in taste. I loved that this brewery is a tiny open air shop with seating outside. The words I keep thinking of when I think of are Lake Bluff are: chill, relaxing, summer. I think it's a great spot to pop in for some drinks with friends or a date but would probably recommend eating elsewhere and not venture in if in any type of rush. I'm not a Lake Bluff local, I call Libertyville home these days, but dang!! I thought this town would be comparable but it is like a GHOST TOWN! Okay, what does that have to do with the brewing co? Well, let's just say you shouldn't come here if you want to be around a crowd on a Saturday night....or anyone... well, there was a hipster (possibly an employee) knitting at the table next to me... This town closes up shop at 9p.m so this place was the only one we could duck into... my 8 oz beer was $8 and we tried the chips and salsa, and chips and hummus. Apparently they stay open but their kitchen closes up around 9, so she wouldn't bring us a pretzel (1 of 3 things on the appetizer menu) Luckily the apps were discounted with the yelp check in. Nothing to talk about, plain blue corn chips with some hummus (should be pita something! COme on now...) and the salsa was dece. Lake Bluff Brewing Company makes my craft beer loving heart happy. There's good peops working there, good beer brewing there, and there's a nice space indoors and out to enjoy said peops and beer. The only thing that could improve is the food- tried the pizza [pepperoni and sausage-meh, tasted like a frozen pizza (which, IMO, is better than NO pizza)] and the pretzel [not bad], but with Wisma next door, you could really just go get some delicious organic grub to go and then enjoy a flight or pint outside. Done and done. The flight was set up beautifully...four beers, in order of IBUs, on a paddle with little chips indicating which was which. I tried: Inspiration Pale Ale- Nice malty backbone and a good citrus nose for a pale ale. Derailleur Pale Ale- FAVE. Put simply: malty, hoppy, and delicious. It had a biscuity, slightly grain heavy aroma with some citrus hops on the end. Hard Tail IPA- Super malty with a decent citrus palate but the aroma didn't match it...it was almost too grainy and malty on the nose. Skull and Bones IPA- Biscuity/grainy aroma, nice malt and hops backbone. Tastes stronger than its 38 IBU rating gives it credit for. Skull and Bones is a perfect name, as I can see this sucker giving you quite the headache if you have too many. Well, played, LBBC, well played. read more

They had 7-8 varieties on tap including a very tasty Hard Tail Imperial IPA, a hearty Black Squirrel Bourbon Stout, and a formidable Belgian Saison among several others. A selection of appetizers and sandwiches was available, but I stuck to the beer tonight. The space is relatively small, especially when the crowds show up, but the bar has a nice vibe and will wear nicely once it's broken in a bit. Downtown Lake Bluff has a nite life! This joint is solid for just having opened. It's small inside and their liquor license only allows them to have 12 chairs outside. The beer is very tasty. I am a home brewer, I know my hops & malt and I give it a thumbs up. The chalkboard inside tells you what they have on tap as well as what is conditioning & when it will be tapped. There were 4 IPA's on tap last night, so I started with a sampler and was quite the happy camper. They have a very limited food menu, but it is good. The hummus is fantastic and the pannini's are very yummy. If you really want a 'meal' the Noodle Bar is next door, grab some take out and have a brew. We got there pretty early, sat outside with our dogs in those premium patio seats and left very late. It was some great people watching. The later it got the younger & louder the crowd became.
