3/5 Stars (Could Have Been Higher)…read more I was 40 years old when I stayed here, and by far the youngest resident. My roommate was close to 80 years old, which made for an interesting experience. Despite our age difference, I came to respect and admire him. What kept this from being a 5-star review was the food, the uncomfortable bed, the very small shared rooms, my television being much smaller and positioned much closer to the bed than my roommate's, and the nighttime noise. Some residents struggled with mental health or other conditions, and there were nights when patients would yell, making it difficult to sleep. I ended up staying for eight nights and nine days. Looking back, I believe another two or three days would have benefited my recovery, as I was still struggling with significant pain and difficulty walking when I was discharged. Although my insurance covered my stay, I felt that my Kaiser representative was too eager to move me out and didn't fully appreciate the severity of my condition. Unfortunately, that reminded me of my initial visit just days before I ended up in the emergency room, when I was only prescribed ibuprofen despite the pain I was experiencing. Some fellow patients encouraged me to appeal the discharge decision and fight to stay longer. However, I was physically exhausted, emotionally vulnerable, and simply didn't have the strength to advocate for myself at that point. In hindsight, I think a more formal discharge meeting that included me in the decision-making process would have been the better approach. Even if the outcome had been the same, I would have felt that my concerns and readiness to leave had been fully considered. That said, there were many positives. The staff, for the most part, were attentive, compassionate, and genuinely cared about the patients. I did have one negative experience with a staff member who fit every stereotype of someone who shouldn't be working in healthcare. I emailed the administrator about my concerns, and to his credit, he came to my bedside almost immediately, shook my hand, listened to me respectfully, and removed that employee from my wing. I appreciated how seriously he took my concerns. The physical therapy team was outstanding. They welcomed me from day one, even though I was hesitant to socialize because I was overwhelmed, heavily medicated, and had just been discharged from the emergency room. Their encouragement and professionalism played a huge role in my recovery. I was admitted after my back suddenly gave out to the point where I couldn't walk. At my lowest moment, I truly feared I might never walk again. Being surrounded by others who were also fighting their own battles gave me perspective and gratitude. I realized how fortunate I was to have the insurance and benefits that allowed me to recover in a facility like this. The location was also convenient, making it easy for family, friends, and coworkers to visit me during a difficult time. While there are definitely areas that need improvement, especially the food, sleeping accommodations, and room setup, the caring staff, excellent therapy team, and responsive administration made a difficult chapter in my life much more manageable.

The staff is skilled, attentive and dutiful, and the home is very clean and inviting. The staff cooks delicious meals suited for the diets of the elderly. Mom did not want to leave her home, but she was not safe to live alone. From our first inquiry with Parveen, and many telephone calls to get answers to our questions, we were very impressed with her professionalism. My family is extremely happy with the continued care and the services provided. The staff is friendly, caring and compassionate. If there is a need or request, the staff always seem eager to assist. I like using the Carefield app that lists daily menus and activities. Mom likes the food and there are plenty of activities that interest her. I also appreciate the periodic reviews and treatment plan updates from the Carefield nurse, Kathy. Kathy will sometimes send me photos when mom is involved with a fun activity. I am grateful that mom is in good and caring hands. A big thank you to the staff at Carefield.

The apartment kitchen is full, though whoever thought putting the freezer on top of the fridge should be relegated to a lifetime of stooping to find things. PUblic spaces are well designed too, espcially the main foyer. And for now at least the price is relatively good. Staff is very friendly and helps whenever possible. (A special shout-out to Facility Manager Art Blancas.) A major flaw is the food. You pay for it whether you eat it or not. The few times we tried it meats were vastly overcooked and tasteless. (Salads are good.) So we buy our own food and cook it.

Originally, he was at a different facility which was nice but above our budget. After touring Bellara with a friend who was also looking for care for her mother, we decided on Bellara. It is a beautiful facility, with spacious rooms, a lot of activities, impressive meals and caring staff. The initial meetings with Dominic Ong are what sealed the deal. He was a great listener, helped us problem solve, listened to our needs and was transparent on pricing and ways we could potentially save. He did not sell us any gimmicks and was very sincere. My dad loves his room, the spacious bathroom and independence. We are very grateful to Dominic and the staff at Bellara.

As I first visited they were renovating the exterior and landscape refresh and I found that to be so important. Residents get to look out their windows and enjoy something fresh and beautiful to look at. Other first impressions were multiple air filtration systems outside the doors of every room. Not sure if that was a 'leftover' from COVID kind of thing or what - but I liked it. Shared rooms were small and good to know is only two visitors at a time. It's hard to imagine it but the reason is purely for function. Placing 3 chairs around I think would be very difficult to navigate anymore. Luckily for those who might not like shared rooms - singles are available. If you've been saving money all your life and here - this might just be the time to spend a little extra if you don't like people around. My friend's neighbor was a pleasant person - and that's what I've found going to these types of places - its not bad to have another nearby... If your friend or family member is here its your job to visit. People make up excuses and there really is no excuse. I was able to slip in 30 minutes before closing after work and anybody can do that. I think visitors are an important part of recovery. You can't visit your friend or your mom? Just keep the excuses to yourself I don't want to hear it.

The administration will cheat and lie to get rid of patients when copays incur regardless of your health condition. They will encourage you to stay only as long as your insurance covers 100% of the cost. A "Safe Discharge" cannot be relied on at all. They will do everything to criminally kick you to the curb before you are medically healthy enough to take care of yourself to avoid copays mounting up. They will bum-rush you out to rent your bed to fresh patients only to avoid billing copays. To top it off, the language and cultural barriers are extremely. Nice workers but confusion is constant. The food sucks and your call lights are ignored. Pray you never experience an emergency. This is your warning... Avoid the San Leandro Healthcare Center.

A year ago, I was planning to sell my house in Castro Valley and move to a retirement community. I…read morevisited various places in Livermore, San Leandro, and Hayward. I liked Baywood Court the best because there is no expensive buy-in and the monthly rent is reasonable. From number 16 on the waiting list I was able to move in at mid-February. I have a one-bedroom apartment of 600 square feet facing the pool. It's between two exits so it's very convenient for my dog to go out for his business. Plus there is a half-mile trail inside the facility for his daily walk. I enjoy going through the Rose Garden and the Gazebo along many beautiful flowers and plants. Living at Baywood is like living in a hotel or a cruise ship. There is 24/7 lighting and air conditioning/heat throughout the building. I get weekly house-cleaning, change of bed linens and towels. I just leave my garbage at the door and all the packages I ordered are delivered to me . The two meals a day can be stretched to three because of the many options I can choose. In the one year I have been here, I have not cooked one meal for myself. No more driving to the gym. I just walk down the hall to my Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, and Zumba classes. We also have lots of performance by outside artists and regular health and informational meetings. Just this week we had Martini Monday, Coffee Social, and Tequila Thursday. You can play pool, jigsaw puzzles, Mahjong and many table games at the Game Room. There are also daily drive to shopping and regular visit to museums and scenic areas. Baywwod also has many group activities such as Sunday mass, Thursday Bible study, grief sharing, Spanish class, arts and crafts, movie and sports night, etc. I joined the Knit Wits to make projects for charity. I am the inventory manager and also volunteer as a cashier for our general store called The Cubby. The staff at every Department here are friendly and efficient. I love the community of other residents. The management does such a good job that I was pleasantly surprised when our rent did not go up for this year. I am so glad God provided me Baywood Court where I can live out the rest of my years feeling safe and secure.

They also serve delicious and healthy food which is a major and central factor in senior living communities (a big "shout out" to the dining team!) We are very thankful to both Jody and Nanette for making our visits extremely pleasant each time. They have been more than helpful, patient and gracious with us and we happily look forward to being part of the Baywood Court family!

The best part of this facility is the people working here! Everyone is truly caring from nurses, social workers, pharmacists, admission, doctors and more. This was my first experience with a skilled nursing facility, I was impressed with how much they do for the patients to keep them taken care of, fed well, entertained and on the way to fast recovery. My dad himself has expressed his gratitude multiple times towards all the care takers that assisted him, he felt especially at home when some of the nurses spoke to him in his native tongue. He recovered in just a week. Admission was fast and accomadating. They took care of connecting with Insurance company and helped my dad to move in first before I had a chance to go the next day to fill in paper works. I met the entire care team and was really impressed with their patience and attention to detail. I had left a note for them on a few things about my dad's condition and they promptly scheduled a meeting with me to go over them line by line. If anything, my whole family felt heard and taken care of. Definitely recommend the place!

The owner came to me and said Covid is just like the flu. Nothing will happen to you, then she said she could not get an ambulance ride for me to return to Kaiser, so I picked up my phone and called 911 and got an ambulance. I have spent from June 18,2025 until January 31,2026 getting well enough to go home These people need to be sut down!
