Visited:: 15Mar26. My girlfriend and I came here for the first time. Our server was great and friendly. We sat outside which was fun, we love sitting outside. Pretty good atmosphere all together. Fried pickles were delicious, breading was perfect and light. Glad it wasn't salty. My girlfriend said the fries were alright needed some salt or seasoning. Hotdogs weren't bad, I mean it's hot dogs. Although the bun to hot dog ratio isn't what I like. I feel like the hot dogs were more on the skinny side. We want to try again and try something else. read more

I mean it's what you would expect for a hotdog joint in Lake Park. It is nothing crazy special aside from the great vibes from the lake and dive experience. The hotdogs are good and I hear amazing reviews about the Philly cheesesteak wrap. I went with friends after and few bapples which makes everything taste better. I frequent this place for the food. I get cravings for their hamburger wrap and nothing else will do. Ya'll! I you don't know what a hamburger wrap is, you need to. Slap some of that Don Sauce on that baby and you will be in tastebud heaven. Their ranch is the bomb too. The fried mushrooms are a great extra, but make sure they cool off a little before you bite into one. They are served fresh out of the grease. When I am there, I just feel like I am on vacation at the beach. It has that vibe. We don't drink, but I still feel welcome. There is a bar, but their Diet Coke is my drink of choice. Had lunch with an old high school friend here on last Wednesday during my hometown visit... it wasn't all what I thought it'd be after reading the other Yelp reviews and that it was one of the two dining suggestions my friend offered (the other was Rajun Cajun and she claimed it'd be really packed, that Lake Dogs would be a better place to catch up instead). Lake Dogs really isn't a must-try "dive" at all. It was around 1pm and rainy outside, so the crowd was meager, of course. While I waited on the stool at the bar for my friend to arrive, I ordered a bottle of Blue Moon to sip on as I browsed their brief menu selections. On the top of the menu list, there is some variety of hot dog options as also advertised outside. The rest of the menu had some sandwiches, chicken, and I can't remember if they served hamburgers or fish as well. After my friend arrived and ordered herself a beer, we went ahead to order our meal. I had my heart set on a chicken wrap, but the bartender regretted to inform me that they just ran out of the tortilla wraps. So, I had to opt for their mixed green salad with chicken instead. My friend ordered herself a chicken salad sandwich and said she usually orders it and likes it. While my chicken was well seasoned, the salad was actually very a sad one. The greens were partially wilted, they melted shredded cheddar over it as the chicken was hot... the tomato slices were lukewarm and mealy. I couldn't continue to eat the salad because even though the chicken was nicely seasoned, I kept biting into hard bits of fat, small chunks of bone, and it wasn't a nice feeling in my mouth. I wanted to like this place as a restaurant because my friend recommended it and the server was a former classmate as well, but from the lackluster experience I had..... I think Lake Dogs is more of an ideal place as a watering hole in Lake Park instead. read more

OMG - the bar was rocking when we got there, live music with the singer belting out "Son of a Preacher Man". Fabulous voice. And what was great is that there are two sections - in case you're not in the mood for the live music scene. The chef made me the best ahi tuna I've ever had - and I've eaten in plenty of five star restaurants. Fabulous sauce over it, with some shrimp and holy cow the veggies were to die for. I can't recommend this hidden gem enough. Seriously, if you live in the area, get your butt over there for some great food and a fabulous atmosphere. Lake Dogs is under new management as of about 4 weeks ago. They still serve hot dogs (my mother fell in love with the slaw dog) but so much more. We tried the crab cakes, buffalo shrimp and lobster bites and they were outstanding. The Low Country Boil was like nothing I've ever had before and would eat every night if it was available: chunks of potato, sausage, big shrimp, huge crab legs set on top, and a half ear of corn. It was scrumptious. The 2nd time I went I opted for the big salad and it was more than enough food for dinner. Lettuce, tomatoes, boiled egg, cucumbers, and lots and lots of boiled shrimp on the top. Blue cheese dressing on the side and a nice glass of Cabernet left me a happy camper. They have plenty of flat screens to cover the games and live music outside some nights that's not so loud indoors that it drowns out conversation. The wait staff is fun and quirky and the chef loves trying out new stuff. If I lived nearer I would volunteer to be a guinea pig for his recipes. I understand that their smoked ribeye is awesome. Seriously? This place has scary, chicken/pork/cellulose hot dogs served on stale buns. It's like a school lunch hot dog slapped on a plate. I don't drink, so the whole "watering hole" theory is lost on me. When I take my kid out for a hot dog and spend $15 on the meal...I'd like to at least pay for a memorable all beef dog. read more

For a hot dog place 5 stars, went many moons ago, big buxom blonde owned it then, seemed to be just as good back than as today. The petite young blonde bartender/waitress was just as nice and as she could be (I would back just for her smile and service). Again the chili dogs were really good...remember we are in the south, they serve Pepsi instead of coke (Boo). Most definitely will stop by on next trip through. read more

They may advertise "the best hot dogs in Georgia" but the hotdogs were just meh. I ordered a chili cheese dog and expected a big sloppy thing to eat. It came wrapped up in paper, no cheese, no onions, never even asked if I wanted any. I had to ask for a knife and fork, although I probably could have picked it up and ate it with minimal mess. we went there with a table of 5 last night. It was packed out with regulars and there was a live band on the deck. Apparently they do this every Thursday night. The sign and menu both state hot dogs, but on Thursday they have boil night and on Friday they have steak night. 3 of us at the table had the snow crab legs boil, one had the shrimp casserole and one had a half pound of boiled shrimp. Now for the review: BEST crab legs I have ever had hands down and I get them everywhere. They were crispy and buttery and sooo well seasoned. The sides were a spectacle as well. The shrimp, which I sampled, were seasoned the same and very tender. I did not sample the shrimp casserole, but I hear it is a crowd favorite. The owners and waitstaff were attentive and friendly, even in a packed out environment. My only cons are that the a/c was weak last night after a 110 degree day and the place is a little hard to converse on band night. I will not take it down a star though as I would sit in the direct sun in 100 degree heat and never say a word if it meant having these crab leg and shrimp dishes. Can't wait to go back. Best pulled pork nachos around. Great place to drink a beer on a sunny day in South Georgia. Worth the drive to Lake Park.

I have heard that new owners are coming in is that true? I know some friends of ours was going to try and get it I just don't know if it is in the process or even happening. I would like to know so that I could come and support them. I know if they get it the food will be GREAT. THANKS SD read more
