Customer Service is good and staff is polite, The dental plans are extended and costly. Appointment for teeth cleaning, after exams and photos of my teeth 45min. Still didn't receive a cleaning, pend another 2 additional appointments for teeth cleaning. I pride myself for frequent visits for cleaning had no cavities. BUT I'm thinking your inside the mouth on my first visit, why not do it in one setting. If I'd agreed to the visits for cleaning my co-pays would have been $179.00. I'm new from out of state, with best of health benefits, never have paid co-pays amounting to nearly $200. Be careful, Hygienists and Dentist at this practice are taxing clients, suspicious to me. read more

I recently moved to the Dallas area and searched long and hard for a black owned dental office near me and decided to try Smith Family Dentistry out. The first time I called to schedule an appointment, it took over a week, maybe two for them to return my call. The office manager was very kind and apologetic but also very slow. I wasn't able to make that appointment so I called today to reschedule and was on hold for over 15 minutes, I forgot I was on hold and made 4 appointments online at Mint Dentistry during the hold time . Unfortunately I will not be able to experience any of the dental work for a family of four because I am not able get past the initial customer service provided. I found this place on Google while looking to support a black owned business - dentist. Called for an appointment and they got me in the very next day. Staff was young and down to earth. I felt like I was talking to a friend. The office was clean, professional and gentle. I would recommend them, especially if you're scared of dentists and hate getting your teeth cleaned (me). Hi Carmen, Today was an unbelievable experience at your practice. Where I showed for the first of multiple future appointments. First, I did my due diligence in identifying an Afro-centric solution for my oral needs and found your practice. The reviews were impressively solid. Unfortunately, I feel as though your Office Manager decided to turn down $1,840 (Treatment Plan Quote) to be a stickler on a $25 policy. Is that a smart business decision or the inability to have customer centric character? The facts are I did reschedule my first appointment due to my wife's birthday being a conflict. That being stated I spoke with your Office Manager the same day to explain. Not only did I own the issue with him I apologized for the inconvenience realizing you are running a business. He then proceeded to mention I would still incur a $35 missed appointment fee. Got it. I explained I would not choose my oral needs over my wife. My second appointment was also missed due to an unforeseen auto issue the day before. Despite the unavoidable issue I sent an email early that morning explaining I would reschedule. Today, I showed up with the intent to schedule the complete treatment with your front office. What I don't understand is how your $25 policy would out rank the $1,840 in money to be received over the next month. Furthermore, the missed opportunity on continual care. What was the opportunity cost lost over $25 for a client that was in contact, provided reasoning and showed for the second scheduled appointment? What other opportunity cost was lost due to negative feedback to friends and family that are looking for a MWBE? Lastly, I paid a $35 cancellation fee, but your website says there's a $25 fee (See below). Not sure how competent your Office Manager is, but he was there when I mentioned $35 and no objection was made other than "It's policy". I would like a refund of $10. I was searching high and low for a black owned dentist to go to and found Smith Family Dentistry during my search and I am so glad I did. The entire team was professional and friendly. I was able to get in and out of my same day appointment within a hour. My time is very valuable and I appreciate the fact that they care about their patients. This was my first time visiting, but sure won't be my last. I have found my forever dentist here in Dallas. I will be spreading the words to my friends and colleagues. I would not recommend this dentist. I was told i would be refunded for services in 30 days and it's going on two months. I asked for an update on the refund and was told that it was sent and it's up to my insurance company to receive it. I asked the amount or address and was told that I would not be given any more information. Even the staff laughed while I was inquiring regarding my refund and told me the dentist did not want to speak anymore. I have been going to this dentist for 5 years, and Dr. Smith is AMAZING. This office doesn't have the typical smell of a dentist office. The set up makes you feel right at home, and her staff members are warming and kind. Previously, I honestly hated the dentist. I hated the feeling of someone poking at my teeth. I hated the smell of the dentist office and I hated the actual dentist. Now, I enjoy my visit. Each individual room has a television, so you can enjoy the news while getting your teeth cleaned.
