Everyone working here should have some type of sensitivity training. My wife and I recently visited this range with another couple and it was mostly pleasant until my wife and I went to retrieve our ID cards. The gentleman working there mistakenly handed my wife the ID card of our friend. When we informed him of this perceivably innocent mistake he said "you know what they say? You all look alike." As a retired veteran, I was astonished that an employee on duty at a business that deals with customers felt comfortable speaking to us like this. Needless to say, our pleasant experience immediately turned negative because we were all upset. As previously stated, he seemed very comfortable communicating in this manner which makes us uncomfortable about returning to this site. read more

On a recent Saturday, my wife and I visited Lake Highlands Shooting Center with another couple. I had been there several times before and was considering a membership. The facility itself is excellent--clean, well-ventilated, professionally run, and the price is right. Check-in was smooth, our ammo was inspected, and we were assigned shooting lanes with clear guidance. Overall, the shooting experience was organized and positive. Unfortunately, upon leaving, an incident occurred that overshadowed the visit. When our driver's licenses were returned, they were mishandled and accompanied by a remark implying, "y'all all look alike and it's hard to keep y'all straight." While perhaps intended casually, this comment was a "microaggression" that left a lasting negative impression. Because of this experience, I will not pursue membership there. Respect, awareness, and interpersonal sensitivity are as important to me as the quality and safety of the facility where I choose to socialize with my friends and family. While the range operations are strong, all the staff entrusted with customer interactions must be compelled to consistently demonstrate care and respect for all patrons, prospective members. With that kind of comment, I cannot be confident of any other "slights" that may be condoned there or other behaviors that may be accepted. My opinion and decision is most certainly about basic courtesy and respect which are fundamental to good customer service. Until that is assured, I will not recommend or support membership at Lake Highlands Shooting Center, nor will I visit there to shoot again. read more

Ordered a pistol online and had it shipped to LHSC to conduct the transfer. Everyone here was nice and professional. Mark helped me out with the transfer which was an easy process. Super cool guy. Great team and great range also did a FFL transfer with them and the fee was very reasonable. If I'm not mistaken it was $25-$35 it's been a while but though. The guys there are really great with customers and range is also very clean, a little bit of a smaller shop but if I'm in the market for a new HG I would definitely consider purchasing from them. read more

I have. been a Certified Firearms Instructor for the last 23 years, and I used to teach at this facility for about three, no longer, because a discrepancy and misunderstanding with the owners, also because they have " unlicensed and uncertified instructors" teaching there and is a liability, also because they let people shoot Rifles and shotguns, so it gets very loud! for a couple of years I was teaching groups of people coming from other countries, I would teach them how to shoot any handgun, any caliber and have fun at the gun range. I am still doing that but at another Gun Range they are good people, Marc has the best customer service skills, and I always enjoyed working with them, wish them good luck! Found LHSC and decided to take my wife and another friend of ours out to shoot. I usually head south to an outdoor range to run and gun, but I found this was a great way to get some range time in locally. The staff was great from beginning to the end our visit. Clean facilities and A+ ventilation made our experience very enjoyable. LHSC allowed us to shoot pistol, AR15, and shotgun. Tip: Make sure you leave your buckshot and steel cased ammo at home. I bought a new pistol and was given a coupon for a new range. Took my family with me. The place is great. Everything is new, in great condition and really clean. The range must have a great filtration system the air was clean it was like going to an outdoor range. They have a fairly good selection of rental gun and the staff was extremely helpful and much friendlier than the other ranges I have been to. They assisted with my daughter who is a new shooter, she even bought a LTC class. Definitely going back here. Reasonable prices and they have specials too. read more

Found Lake Highlands from a google search and I'm so happy i did. Very friendly staff. 1 target is included with your lane fee which is very cool. Veteran discount too. The lanes are well protected from each other. Shelf was at the perfect height and the cubby below the shelf was a great place to store my ammo while I was shooting. It was 86 outside today and the A/C was perfectly set. Although I brought my own ammo , i glanced at the prices and they seemed very fair compared to other ranges in the area. I was looking for a clean, air conditioned, well run range near my home and on my way home from work. Fiddling around on the maps with Yelp, I found the Lake Highlands Shooting Center. I have only shot there once so far, but I will be back. Excellent bays, air circulation/filtration/conditioning and bullet traps (rather than a backstop of a pile of rubber chips). I am almost hesitant to review it because I would like to keep it as my secret place and not let it get too crowded on me. But that just wouldn't be fair, now would it. read more

This was my first visit, and I was impressed. The desk staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and prices are in line with others offering this service. Facility is brand new, so it's bright and clean. Everything worked in the shooting lanes, and they are well-lit, with some lighting options. This facility is pretty much handgun-only, as all the lanes are short. However, I was told that you can bring any ordinance under 3500 fps and be OK, so if you want to shoot a rifle at 15 yards, you can. Was looking for somewhere close to my house in Richardson where my wife and I would be able to not only get some additional training but also feel 'at home' in shooting in a safe and clean environment. Had spoken to Al Fike and he mentioned that he uses Lake Highlands for teaching his classes and he mentioned how great the owners were. Yesterday I drove by there to check them out and on the spot I just decided to join as a member. If not for "family duties", I would have been back that day!! I'll start by saying I usually am not a fan of shooting indoors. Most ranges have really bad air flow and you end up getting a lot of smoke and other nastiness in your lungs. The filtering at this range is superb. Even shooting suppressed, I didn't have any irritation in my lungs. The bays are well lit and spacious. I'm not a small guy but my brother and I could easily stand in the bay loading mags together. Unlike some ranges, there are windows so the staff can see from the sales counter and keep an eye on everyone in addition to the cameras. I also regularly saw a range officer (and I think one of the owners) regularly walking through. They're very accommodating of new shooters, making sure to give them instruction instead of just giving them a gun and saying "good luck!" They've got a good selection of targets and are around a buck each. I only bought some .22 ammo because I forgot mine but it wasn't the usual range ammo price that feels like a ripoff. The staff is very welcoming and I feel like I could spend all day sitting there talking with them. Prices are fair, and the range is super NFA friendly. Yes, they will ask to see your stamps, but it's a private business so I have no problem with that. There is a vending machine on site for water/soda. I was super impressed when one of the staff let me try out one of their guns as well. They heard I was a CZ fan and let me try out their $2k gun just because Even with the access I have to other ranges (some I don't have to pay for), I'm definitely going to be coming back to this one when able. If I had any recommendations, it would be maybe get splatter targets (they may have these, I just didn't see them) since I think they help with new shooters. read more
