Skeeters in Kingwood has been around as long as I can remember! My husband and I ate lunch there today. His hamburger was not cooked properly and when he returned it to the counter, the older lady that he talked to, rolled her eyes. I got the chicken strip basket and my Texas Toast was burnt. When I returned it, they said they are having issues with their appliances and the heating elements. This sounds like an important thing if you are cooking people's food. I will say the Lady at the register was very sweet and helpful which we appreciated. Food quality does not seem to be what it has been in the past. Ambiance is typically nice! We like going there.... Just hope this isn't the beginning of them going down. read more

The amount of food is just right, and the customer service is excellent! The place is clean and well maintained. We went to the one at Kingwood and we loved it! We have been going to Skeeters for years now. I used to always get a burger because there amazing. The past few times I have had the pork cho. The Mexican dinner is great too. The staff is pretty friendly and the food always comes out pretty fast and hot. A few years ago they remodeled the dining room and got rid of most of the clutter. This is a good Kingwood spot that has withstood the test of time. It's one of our favorites for weekend breakfasts or lunch with friends. The food is all cooked to order, nothing sitting around under a heat lamp. We get a mix of things; I am partial to the Breakfast Enchiladas or the Breakfast Tacos and my wife loves the Sausage, Egg, & Cheddar Biscuits for breakfast. For lunch we like the burgers and Tacos or if I am trying to eat healthy I get the Skeeter Bowl. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant and they have a large room in the back for groups to use. In the summer they keep the AC nice and cool so you can take a break from the heat. I eat here at least once per week. I'm drawn to the fantastic salads and wonderful fish tacos. Yesterday my husband and I decided to have lunch here and were offered a brand new seasonal item: POTATO SOUP. It was excellent! It took me back to childhood memories when my mom made Potato Soup. I've eaten here one other time and it was ok. This occasion I was disappointed. Stopped in for lunch and ordered their Skeeter bowl with chicken. When the plate arrived, I was like, where's the rest of my salad? I could see the bottom of my bowl. Chicken was dry and for kale, it was barely 1/4 cup of kale. Lastly, this dish was $15. I could've went to Kroger/HEB and got a prepackaged salad with the same ingredients for way less than $15. I won't even explain how my husband's dish was pretty much the same and at over priced for what we were served. We are regular restaurant visitors and know what dishes are normally priced at and this was way off. Skeeters should bulk up their content of those dishes for the prices listed or lower the prices. I've been to Skeeter's a few times since moving to Kingwood 10 years ago but have made it more common in the past 6 months. I meet some girls from church here every month for Bunco, so Skeeter's has become a staple. I'm also gluten intolerant, and their menu has several GF options. When my parents were in two months ago, we took them here, and they raved about their service and quality of food. My dad said the Turkey burger was the best he's had. My mom commented on the large portions they provide. They also split a potato and still had to bring some home. My constant order is their shrimp tacos (I make it a plate with chips and salsa). They do accommodate for GF and will grill the shrimp then put them in corn tortillas. They also have a chips and queso happy hour special M-F. If you want Tex Mex, there are several options as well. It tends to be busier on Friday evenings, so get here early, especially if you want a booth. The food is reasonably priced, especially with what you get, and the staff are extremely accommodating. I've eaten here 10-15 times over the years. Lately it's gone downhill. Management doesn't put enough staff taking orders at the front, and the staff that's there doesn't have much initiative. The last two visits they've gotten our orders wrong. Tonight they didn't even cook the shrimp on my wife's shrimp tacos and totally left off one of the components to my meal. They finally cooked my wife's shrimp, but still forgot my component. The only bright part of our visit was the young waiter/busser that brought out the food. The reason I decided to FINALLY write a review is because I just spent $8 dollars on cheese fries...to get a container barely filled with fries. This isn't the first time I've noticed and complained to them that they've decreased the amount of food the give, yet their prices continue to go up. It has been several years since I've been to Skeeter's Mesquite Grill in Kingwood Texas. A lot has changed since this was pre-pandemic. One thing that hasn't changed is the wonderful smell of grilled meat as you approach the front door. They smoke and grill all of their food. The menu is much the same: fajitas, burgers, fries, onion rings and such. They also have maintained two fully functioning margarita machines. However it seems like they've gone through a facelift. It seemed like they have grown up. At one time, this place was kid team central. I'm was a favorite hang out for elementary age kids to celebrate after a game - complete with crayon drawings on the walls and various little gaming machines . It was friendly but dark and somewhat had a McDonald's type feeling. Now the crayon scribblings are gone from the wall. Also I didn't see the gaming machines. Most importantly, the ceiling, the walls and everything seem to be considerably brighter. Reasonably priced and the television sets are still strategically placed around the open concept building. We went here for lunch on a Sunday. It looked like we just missed their rush because there were dirty table everywhere. We actually cleaned our own table off to sit. There were not any silverware for us to use either. My husband and I shared a spoon and knife with our fajitas and salmon. We asked the server but she never brought any. Our entrees came out before our queso dip and it was cold. The beef fajitas had excellent flavor and were a very generous portion, however. It was a nice relaxed place. A/C not working in 101 degree weather!!! We were not told until after we ordered and went to sit down realizing it was burning hot in there. The staff said it been off for 2 weeks. We left - shame on the owners for putting employees and customers in that situation with the extreme temperatures in Houston.
