There's a very long winding road to get up to the brewery, with plenty of parking just outside of the main building. The interior of the brewery itself is brand spanking new and beautiful inside. There's a lovely view of the surrounding area, just gorgeous to look at on a sunny day. We were warmly greeting upon entering and given an overview of the beverages on offer. There were a good choice of beers to choose from, along with non alcoholic beverages (seltzer and soda) as well. We sat outside under a shaded canopy at a picnic table and enjoyed the nice summer weather for a while. Slake also had a concise menu of snacks and food items to order from as well. We chose the table olives and the chips n dip - both were tasty and hit the spot. My hubby and step dad loved the beers they chose and my mom and I enjoyed the flavoured seltzers from City Seltzer. Will absolutely be coming back again for a visit sometime soon!

Beers were: Fast Eddie light, Blond, Cream ale & So many friends here. Flights are a great way to try a selection of beers. I loved the dark brew...but I love full bodied beers. The brewery has food which is awesome. Arvy's Street eats serves a variety of tacos. Since I won't be back I tried them all. I got the Birria tacos, the tandoori chicken and the Chana Masala tostado. Prince Eddy's is a great spot just off the main streets of Picton that serves some great beer. There's plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas to keep you cool. There's a purpose-built stage for live performances. There's a current (?pop-up) resto called Slight Peppa that serves some Caribbean fusion snacks and dishes [I didn't get a chance to try this but it smelled pretty good!]. And of course, did I mention the beach volleyball court?! And now onto the beer! Obviously, not having tried everything they offered, I don't want to over-generalize, but the beers I had all trended towards light and refreshing, instead of heavy and strong in flavours. So basically, great summer beers. And great labels (I'm a sucker for good design)! Chiller Instinct (Dry Hopped Sour): I've always been a bit suspect of beers trying to do too much, but because most of the flavours are subtle, I found this worked really well, and may have been my fave! C.R.E.A.M. Ale: Smooth and a bit sweet. So Many Friends (Session NE IPA): A crisp IPA with a citrusy and floral flavours. I've never seen their stuff in the LCBO, but hopefully they'll make it big enough to get there. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to order directly from them.

The mango lassi sour drink was also really good, a good mix between beer and mango. They have an outdoor dining area that is under a roof and another festival style eating area. The balsamic glaze one was a bit too sweet for my taste but the pesto had a delicious creamy flavour. We had their hummus with pita, which lacked depth from some much needed salt and lemon. Their pretzel bites were amazing with the sweet garlic and mustard sauces, could not get enough of that. For the drinks, we ordered ciders which we found was more like sparkling soda than a cider. The flourless chocolate cake was decadent and super rich.

A trend I really hope they continue with. One of my favorite things about breweries this size is a constantly changing rotation and the limited edition feeling when they change their lineups. They have several New England IPAs (hazy IPAs in some circles) that I really enjoy and their ESB is a great summer beer. Easy drinking, light and refreshing. The atmosphere is great. This is a brewery focused on great beer and great conversation. They don't have a kitchen but have bar snacks by way of bags of tasty chips and they do allow you to bring in your own food or get food delivered if you want something heavier. They have some board games you can borrow if you're looking for something else to enjoy while you sip on your beer. The brewery is right in the public square with ample parking in the rear. The bar area gets a bit crowded but the back room usually has plenty of space and a table available. You can order drinks from the bar and walk them back yourself or wait for one of the awesome staff members to walk back and check on you. The volume in the back is conversational making this a great option to catch up with friends over a pint or three. I thoroughly enjoy Boots Brewing Company. I travel a bit for work, and my favorite thing to do when I visit a new location is browse Yelp for breweries. All in all, I've been to between 100-150 craft breweries, so I have a solid baseline for comparison. If you appreciate good beer, you'll appreciate this brewery. If you're idea of good beer comes in a 12 pack that costs less than $15 than this place might not be for you. If you're looking for a bar or a place to watch a game, this also probably isn't your cup of tea.
