Honestly, I came here with VERY VERY LOW expectations given the ratings. I'm looking at the photos on Yelp from 11 years ago, and it doesn't look like the restaurant has changed one bit! It has that old dusty lodge feel to it. The food was mediocre and overpriced (as expected). I ordered the black beans tacos with a side of fries. The corn tortillas were cold, and the salsa on the tacos tasted like they were store bought. I'm giving it an extra star because the young lady that served us was very kind and patient. Ok I was not impressed by the tacos BUT the quac and pico de gallo are pretty good, especially after working up an appetite hiking to the tops of things. The churros are the best churros I've ever had. No joke. Usually churros don't have enough sugar and cinnamon, because the sugar just falls off. These have enough and are DELICIOUS. Come for the churros! Also service is SO fast. You barely sit down and they bring your food! Perfect when you're tired from a long day and need to get to bed early to go looking for animals. read more

One of the best dining locations we encountered in the park, right along the water's edge, a quick stroll from the Grant Village lodges. Beautiful view as the sun rolls low over the glassy horizon. The menu for 2023 appears to be tacos only - pork, beef, chicken, or black bean. Pretty simple, order at the counter, take a number, and seat yourself. This system is great, as it allows you to grab any open seats by the lake windows. We did notice that the restaurant was relatively empty at opening, which should have been a warning. We placed our order and sat by one of the many available windows. Tacos are $5, which is about the going rate in the city nowadays. Each came in two warmed corn tortillas, with a jalapeno and lime slice on the side. - Chicken: Bland and mushy, not a lot going on in this one. - Beef: Probably the most seasoned, but still not flavorful. - Fish: Sauced and still somehow the most bland. Absolutely no flavor and texture was chewy and rubbery. We had a hard time getting through this one. At $5 each, you might get full but you won't be happy getting there. Even for park food standards, these are awful. Please save yourself the time and money. If for some reason you still visit, get the Dip Trio ($7). You'll get guacamole, queso, and pico with chips. Shockingly, all three dips have more flavor than any of the tacos, and we added them in to salvage the meal. The chips are pre-packaged and stale, but at this point, that was the least of our worries. And if that wasn't enough, the menu listed many drink options, including beers from local breweries and a couple of cocktails. Cool, at least I can have a local brew by the lake, right? Nope. Bud, coors, or canned wine is all the cashier regretfully offered me. Unfortunately, there are lots of other ways to appreciate West Thumb. Steer clear. read more

Everything was ok. Portions were a bit small for the price. The venue was nice and on the lake. Service was prompt.

Ridiculous portion size for $6....4" tortilla with a tablespoon of dry rubbery meat. I feel sorry for the staff. I saw them getting yelled at for the food, and their season just started. Even disney has a better potiion to cost ratio. read more

Not sure if it was wise to have missed our dinner reservation at the Grant Village Dining Room and came here instead. Changed our mind because the price we saw of the Dining Room menu was ridiculously high and Lake House didn't require a reservation... The food is simply awful, bland, somewhat pricey (OK, the taste of the food just doesn't justify for the asking price); yet they were good on the eyes (vibrant colors) and probably good for your health (wheat rolls, wheat pasta, steamed veggies on the side for each dish). The only thing I enjoyed was the meatballs from the pasta dish. The restaurant itself is clean, has pleasant décor, and the servers are helpful. Our waitress looks like Meryl Streep (!) and was so nice to offer to call and cancel our reservation over at the Dining Room (since I could not connect to the Internet inside the establishment and it was more trouble for her to give me their number than to just make the call for me). It's got a nice view of the lake if that's what you're looking for! They also serve a breakfast buffet (at $12.99 per person I think) in the morning but I was too discouraged by the taste of our dinner to come back again... read more

My entree was the the trout. Chewy and fishy tasting, it came immediately, pretty obviously out of the microwave. I only ate three bites. The rice pilaf and frozen boiled baby carrots were acceptable, so that was my meal. Also the Caesar salad was edible, albeit the worst I ever ate in a restaurant. I was tempted to leave the leftovers out to see if the bears would eat it but I think I know the answer. Definitely skip this place and stick to Ramen or whatever you packed for your trip. read more

A 60's style venue on the Lake. Beautiful setting. It's bar food. Local beer on tap. A plus. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. An enjoyable stop for dinner watching the sunset on the lake. read more

We've been here 7 days and we've been to pretty much all restaurants in the park. This is probably the worst food you can get in the park, and no service at all. You think the menus are exactly the same as the restaurant next door, yes they are, but the food itself is drastically different. For example, the hummus is so dry and cold that you think it's been sitting on the countertop for two days before being served to you. The grilled trout tastes like can food and to be frank even worse than the can food. If you have extra time, go to the restaurant next door, or drive to the general store and there's a Grill inside which serves much better food. read more

Pulled in here after camping...it was an overcast morning so the warm restaurant and hand dryers in the restroom was pleasant. I had the buffet that was nominal...sausage, bacon, and muffins. I skipped the scrambled eggs as they seemed kinda wet. The waitresses were probably summer worker chicks, cute and generally efficient. Its a pretty standard lodge type place, with the contracted caterers, lots of parking. To be honest, pretty much utility eating, but its inside, warm and has bathrooms. read more

This restaurant is worth the out of the way visit! It is literally on the lake with scenic views! Just gorgeous! It's a little hard to find. Follow the trail down to the lake from the Antelope building. There are two restaurants, this is the one down the hill on the lake. Friendly staff. Check the hours, when we cane it was open only for breakfast from 7 to 9 and 5 to 8 for dinner. read more

The fancier place had fancier prices so we opted for this (Lake House) place given Hobson's choice for our budget. Contrary to the popular refrain "we DID NOT get what we pays for." Cannot blame the workers AT ALL because they dutifully observe management diktats (measure food temperature, etc.) but the food (even the buffet breakfast) did not leave us wanting for another round. The view of Yellowstone Lake, however, is gorgeous and better than that from the upscale Dining Room. read more

All around not great. The huckleberry chicken was just a slice of chicken with BBQ sauce. Season veggies were steamed baby carrots. Like...really y'all? The roasted red pepper soup was actually pretty good, probably because bagged soup the you heat up is super hard to ness up. Start with a 5-star location and view, then start subtracting for the service (to be forgiven somewhat because I'm sure the labor pool isn't that big), and then take off several points for the food. What I got for $13 and after waiting 30 minutes was a piece of pressed "mystery" meat which they called Bison. This is *nothing* like real bison burgers I've had. I observed a few health code violations. The ranch dressing I was served for my sweet potato fries was near room temperature. I witnessed a server partially drop a meal, while she didn't serve it to the customer, the supervisor did. I would only go here for a draft beer, which was very good. read more

Your one of two options for the park in this area I believe. A cafeteria style with a great view of the lake. Food was very meh but I really did not have high expectations. We were road-tripping through the country so it was nice to have the option for dining but you should be making some camp fire hot dogs anyways!! read more

This restaurant is okay. We were there in September and I think they had really paired down their menu. There wasn't a lot of options and the Asian style food we had was just okay. The restaurant has a beautiful view as its right on the lake. It was a weird part cafeteria and part waiter service experience and it wasn't realty great at either. Our 'waiter' was nice but he didn't really do anything. The decor was a bit dated but the view definitely made it worth the long trek down the hill to get here. A saving grace was the meal wasn't that expensive considering it's in a national park. read more

We were hungry and found this cafeteria style restaurant at Lake Village. We weren't expecting much, but the food was so bad it was barely edible and it was very overpriced. I had bruschetta chicken which was terrible. My husband had sliced beef which was not much better. read more

The scenery and staff were wonderful. But this was the worst Pho I could have imagined. Excuse me, "Pho." I think all Yelp reviewers should specify whether or not they like hot dogs before proceeding with a review, as part of a food snob barometer. So to start, I really like hot dogs. And this was bad. I was hiking for 12 hours and starving and soaking wet. And this was really really bad. Throw a lime and off brand sriracha in a can of condensed chicken noodle and you get what their pho is. We have been to the Lake Restaurant a number of times now as my wife works at Yellowstone NP and we live in the park. Although the menu is limited to mostly sandwiches, they are all tasty and of a decent size. I ordered the walleye fish dinner but the waitress informed me that cod fish was substituting for the walleye - it was very good and more than I could eat. read more
