    Italian Beef Sandwich with fries.
    Georgia G.

Well here I am again, starving and went to the Lake shore Cafe, (my Friday evening go to). I had the Italian Beef Sandwich. If you haven't had it yet you are definitely missing out! The service was on point, Nick the bartender is very personable and funny. He is very attentive and makes you feel so welcome. I'm around loudness all day and week and it's nice to go out for a meal where you can hear each other talk. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the staff is very friendly.

I have been to Lakeshore Cafe quite a few times and the food and service bring me back time and time again. Today I had the grilled chicken sandwich with provolone, arugula, pepperoni and pesto Mayo. The chicken was juicy and tender. I've also had their fish fry which was excellent and their Italian beef Is beyond tender. This is a little gem on the Hamburg Turnpike. The wait staff are very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants to try something new. Hailey was our waitress and she was wonderful!

The Food is great here. I had the Tempura Haddock fish fry . It was light and tasty. I liked the Mac salad and the Mayo coleslaw. Also had a cup of the French onion soup. Hubby had Cajun broiled fish with hand cut fries. Hubby has an egg allergy so NO slaw or Mac for him. They did substitute roasted cauliflower instead. He was happy. Service was good. Restaurant is small but still ample seating of booths or tables. They do let you rsvp

I ordered The Steak Sandwhich with spinach, mushrooms and cheese cooked medium rare with seasoned fries which was very, very good. Bottom Line- Good food, friendly staff.

Had to stop at the Lake Shore Cafe after all the great reviews. Very personable and informative server Ashley. Nice to know 2 brothers are co- owners and this is a family run cafe. Loved the contemporary, trendy, "wood" vinyl flooring and grey colored walls. The food?! Yes it was very good. I enjoyed the rock fish tacos. Crispy, breaded, fish on top of cabbage slaw snd topped with some cream sauce. Two tacos. Not enough quantity-wise to satisfy a hungry tummy. So I got tempted to try an appetizer.... That French onion soup was calling my name! An excuse to eat a little more lol. Actually, that French onion soup was delish. Cheesy and savory! Saw it in the "specials" board and glad I did! Oh check their FB page because their specials change per Ashley. My friend ordered the Italian beef sandwich. He said it was tasty. Size-wise it wouldn't have been enough if it wasn't for the seasoned crinkle fries on the side. We had a few drinks - $5 per beer and $6.50 glass of wine, added up to $16 approximately. The total bill with drinks was $54.00 before tip. I would say prices are a bit higher these days - maybe COVID related. But still no complaints. We did enjoy dinner tonight at this cafe.

Sloppy plating but absolutely delicious cherry pepper shrimp

We just finished at Woodlawn beach and was looking for something to eat for lunch. After spending all day in the sun, you don't want something overly heavy like pizza and wings, so when we seen this place nearby on Yelp, we rushed right over. It's literally right down the street. What a pleasant surprise this restaurant was! They have a decent menu of sandwhiches and entrees... I'm not sure I would call it a cafe, it's more like a diner. But it has a very modern, beautiful interior and the waitress was very attentive and seemed to enjoy her job. I'm not sure if they get busy through the day, but we went around 3pm on a Monday and we were only there with one other couple. Now then, let's talk food. We got the cherry pepper shrimp as an appetizer. Which was SO SPICY! It was delicious. So delicious that I was almost able to ignore how sloppy the plating was. My husband would have licked the plate if it wasn't frowned upon. Then, we both got the street tacos. I chose the shrimp and they were the most perfection of street tacos. Stuffed with 5 full size shrimp per taco, covered with spicy stewed tomatoes (so flavorful!!) And then topped with a buffalo aioli. I could eat these every day of my life. So light yet filling. Perfect for a beach day.

On the way elsewhere a few months ago, I couldn't help but notice the full parking lot at this little nondescript restaurant. That's usually a good sign, so I brought it up for our ladies' monthly lunch, and we were all so pleased with the whole experience. It's by no means a fancy place, but the decor is pleasant enough, and nice and clean. Service was very good. Food was excellent. Fair warning: parking could be a challenge. The lot is fairly small and awkwardly shaped. Our soup aficionados were thrilled with the French onion, which Lake Shore proudly claims as one of the top 5 in WNY, and rightly so. The grilled cheese sandwiches were absolutely huge (pretty much twice the size of a normal grilled cheese), and pronounced delicious. My Cajun shrimp tacos were the best I've had in a long time - maybe ever. Loaded with shrimp, and not those teeny weeny things. Nice, plump, flavorful. Topped with shredded lettuce and cheese, cilantro, pico and Buffalo aioli, they had the perfect amount of spice. I could only manage to finish two, so the third was destined to be the next day's lunch. Our server brought a sheet of foil as well as a box. She said wrapping it in foil would help keep it from getting too soggy. She was right. It was almost as good the following day. It's those little thoughtful touches, along with the great food, that will ensure a return visit from our little lunch bunch.

Shrimp & Grits from an appetizers specials menu. It was interesting and unique.

You would think that the Lake Shore Cafe would be located next to Lake Erie with a wonderful view of sunset, but it's not. Despite the fact that through the window you can see only busy Route 5, the inside the restaurant is nice and quiet. The place is brand new. The combination of colors is soothing and relaxing. The menu is simple. With the list of appetizers, sandwiches and salads, it's easy to make a decision what to order. Whether it is lunch or dinner, there is something for everyone. The daily specials are also an attractive addition. Check what's available in advance using popular social media. Friday is for fish fry. My choice of grilled chicken breast sandwich was perfect. I only had a half portion, but it was enormous. The marinated meat was perfectly grilled. With pepperoni, provolone, roasted tomato and arugula it was tasty and filing. The regular fries came hot and nicely spiced with salt and pepper. The Shrimp and Grits from an appetizer specials menu was also an interesting culinary experience. With hot oil and an unique mix of spices we enjoy every spoonful of it. The traditional fish fry was very good. The portion of flaky battered haddock filet was generous. It came with macaroni salad, coleslaw and choice of french fries. The macaroni salad was classic with the right proportion of all ingredients. We liked it a lot. Unfortunately, the coleslaw wasn't good at all. Hopefully, the chef will go through the recipe again. Not sure it was too much of vinegar or salt or both. I truly enjoyed my dinner. The service was solid and straight forward. The atmosphere possible could be better if some of the lights were dimmable. It was just too bright in my opinion. Next time, if available, I would choose one of the booths with a pretty fixtures hanging over. If you are in the area or going to the nearby Woodland Beach State Park, stop by at Lake Shore Cafe. Try their food in a friendly environment or just grab a delicious sandwich for a picnic later. I heard their cheesecakes are divine.

After a long drive to have brunch somewhere on Elmwood, just to find the doors locked, I ventured…read moreover here to have lunch and it did not disappoint! First off, I was greeted and found staff friendly and efficient! You have plenty of options for seating .. dining area, front bar, back bar, even an outdoor patio bar. Although it is dive bar-esque, it was nice and clean (let's be honest .. some dives have a stench and stickiness that can definitely ruin your appetite, no matter how much you may love them). They have a set up for bands to play, as one was playing while I was there for their 2 year anniversary (congrats!). What was nice is although I could hear the band (it was playing in the back and I was up front), it wasn't over whelming me. I have eaten places where, no matter where you sit, it's extremely loud, and I appreciated that you had a choice here. Now onto the food: The food should have been doomed to fail; my tastebuds were prepared to eat sweet, buttery, syrupy French toast with a mocktail at brunch elsewhere. But wasn't hyped about the menu because of this (which is not dog and pony's fault .. I had to work and didn't have time to research where else brunch was available). I settled on the umami smashburger by a suggestion of my waitress. Now once again, could have been doomed to fail as I'm not a French fry person and my favorite cheeseburger is one I make on my own. BUT WOW their food blew me away and made me forget all about my brunch let-down. The French fries were fantastic and had a great seasoning on them! The smashburger was great to the last bite .. and I was NOT expecting to finish it as it was a really nice portion (I ate lunch now 10 hours ago and didn't need to eat again it was so filling!) but it was so dang gone good I sure finished it! Smoked cheddar .. chimichuri aioli ... kimchi bacon jam .. oh ya that bacon jam was EVERYTHING!! Thank you to the staff at Dog and Pony for making my long drive worth while!

I ordered the smash burger, my husband ordered the turkey sandwich. After we were waiting for our food for over 25 minutes, the server came over and said that he was just informed they don't have the turkey because they had an issue with that freezer. Ok, so my husband ordered the cheese steak because he was super excited for the bahn mi roll. My smash burger was alright, but the bread they use for their burgers remind me of those cheap buns you get from TOPS that just fall apart. The worst part was that they forgot the dog sauce on my burger, so I asked for the sauce, and THEY CHARGED ME FOR ASKING FOR SAUCE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ALREADY BE ON THE BURGER I ORDERED. My husband made sure to tell me after we already left because he knew I would have fought it and our already 1.5 hour long lunch date would have been longer waiting for the refund... He ordered the cheesesteak and the sandwich was so small, and the "bahn mi bun" wasn't even toasted which is a signature for bahn mi bread. He said the flavor was fine but nothing to rave about. The worst part, for me, were the French fries that came with both of our meals. They were soooo heavily peppered that they were inedible. We asked for ketchup to try to make them tolerable, and they gave us a pre-portioned small cup of ketchup... You serve french fries with most of your menu, why isn't there ketchup on the table?!? Overall, It was a nice place to have on senrca street which used to only have the blackthorn and franchescas, but I would not eat here again.

The craziest part about it is that Winfield's Pub is literally just 10 minutes from my House. A conveniently small place that packs big Bold Flavors. Like as you are driving down Ridge Road towards the main Lackawanna area. A place that if you want to enjoy, you'd have to park in front of it or park on the Side Streets of the neighborhood across from it and walk over. After trying out their Food at a Stillwater Farm Dinner consisting or Birria Tacos and Sausage stuffed Chicken Breast. To me that was a nice welcoming Card telling me to come right away instead of wasting more time ignoring the Place. You walk up 3 Steps and in you are greeted by the Owner's wife Sherryl, the Owner and the Head of Winfield's (Tab Daulton) is running the show making sure food gets pumped out of their Small Kitchen. While their son Thomas is at the Bar making Cocktails of the highest Quality with some of the most unique names that I've ever heard. My 1st visit was enjoying a Birthday Dinner with loved ones in the center of the Restaurant. While going over the menu, I had my 1st Cocktail called The Ghostwriter in a tall cylindrical glass that had Gin, Herbal Liqueur, Coconut, Lime, Lemongrass Syrup & Dill. Sweet and Herbaceous. Next up was some Fresh made Focaccia Bread studded with Rosemary, Garlic, Tomatoes and Zucchini that was so Warm and Flavorful like it just came right out the Oven. You know I like to drink Beer and cook with it too, I couldn't help but get myself a cup of their Beer Cheese soup with Bratwurst and Housemade Croutons. Every single Spoonful I took was Rich with a hint of Spicy heat at the end. Next up was a plate off Duck Confit Poutine with Goat Cheese (I opted for that instead of Cheese Curds). You might look at it and see a big globby mess but what I saw and what I ate was pure Gluttonous Heaven. French Fries, bits of Rich and Tender Duck Meat and mild and Tangy Cheese which equaled a comforting Bite. Next was another Cocktail I got called the Dirty Harry (named after one of Clint Eastwood's best-known roles). Another drink that hit hard consisting of Pineapple, Doctor Bird Rum, Boomsa Herbal Liquor and Banana Shrub Jam. While waiting for my main course, I tried some of Nathan's BBQ Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Who doesn't like tender Pieces of Meat with the outside bring Crispy while the Meat inside just melts away on your Tongue. For our Entrees, everyone enjoyed something different like Nathan and Brianna having Seared Chicken with Vegetables, Mike enjoying a Burger, Rick just getting a few Appetizers, Grandma Carol eating Fish Tacos, Jimmy and Kathy enjoying a Steak. While I got myself Seared Scallops over Sweet Corn Risotto with Tarragon. This looked to me and ate like a Summer Dish, why on earth was it on the Menu during close to Fall/Winter, I don't know. But I'll say this, I loved every bite, you get Sweetness from both the Seafood and the Corn with the Tarragon at the end giving it a light hit of Licorice. Thomas kindly gave me a Complimentary Drink while waiting for Dessert called the Legislation #2. It had Rye Whiskey, Dry Vermouth, Orange Cognac and Acidic Phosphate. While it had all those Ingredients, it was a simple looking Drink with a Jurassic sized Ice Cube in it. But I will say this, this drink packed one heck of a Potent Punch. To finish off the Meal, I got myself a big slice of Guinness Chocolate Cake. One of my favorite Beers has been Transformed into a Dessert. It had such a Deep chocolate Flavor with richness from the frosting packed in between each layer. I walked over and personally thank Tab and his Crew for the great Food that night. The only issue we had was waiting to get our Checks, but other than that everything went great. Another one to cross off my list, another restaurant that I will no longer Ignore. Winfield's better be ready for some more Visits from me in the Future. !!!

We went with the regular sauce (they also have a sweet sauce but we both dislike sweet sauce). It was great! The pizza was well done with nicely cup and char pepperoni, and the cheese were good quality (Sorrento now rebranded as Galbani) unlike some pizza places that use subpar mozzarella cheese. There was definitely double cheese and double pepperoni, but we both agreed that it was just too much cheese and next time we would just get regular cheese but still with double pepperoni. Well, there was a Sunday Bills game a few weeks later so we decided to call ahead to place an order with the double pepperoni. We called on Saturday morning and paid over the phone and everything. Planned pickup around halftime so hubby could go pick it up. We got home and were severely disappointed. It looked like double cheese with regular pepperoni, and the pizza looked undercooked where there was absolutely no char on the cheese or the pepperoni. At that price point, we decided to call and complain (which is something we pretty much never do). They offered to make us a new one and we offered to bring back the bad one, but they said to keep it or toss it. Hangry Hubby left during the second half to go pick up the second pizza which he opened to see while there and it looked the same as the first one! It was busy and by that point he was mentally done. He came home, we unhappily ate some of the underbaked pizza that was ridiculously cheesy with not enough pepperoni, and hubby swore to never order from there again. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures from both times for visuals cause that's how I usually am with pizzas - I see it, I forget about everything else and I eat it, immediately. LOL One thing to note - hubby did say that the first time he went there, there was a guy who looked like he might have been the owner (or at least someone in charge) that made the delicious pizza. And on the day of the Bills game he didn't see that guy. So, perhaps that's the difference maker. However, at $35-40 a pizza, we are NOT willing to deal with the inconsistent quality. This was extremely disappointing because hubby has not found a pizza place he likes in Hamburg since we moved here 7 years ago (our absolute favorite is the original Santora's in Depew, or Imperial or La Nova). So, back to not having any decent pizza places we can order from in Hamburg again... blargh!
