We went to the Mansard Inn for Easter Brunch. We had been there years ago for dinner and thought it was decent, and we had heard it had been refurbished since then. Unfortunately, that really wasn't our experience. The biggest issue was cleanliness. The entire place felt tired and dirty. The carpets looked heavily worn and stained, the booths had food stuck in the crevices, and overall it just didn't feel clean or well maintained. The dishes and drinkware didn't help. The coffee mugs, which were once white, were badly stained and dingy looking. My mother actually rubbed something off hers, and the waitress explained that it "wasn't dirty, just stained." Not exactly the best first impression, especially at $55 per person for brunch. We ordered mimosas after that, hoping things would improve, but even the champagne glasses looked questionable and were filled to noticeably different levels. Then the food arrived, and unfortunately it only got worse. Everything was served "family style," but there was no menu or explanation of what was coming. The meal felt random and poorly executed. Some highlights included: * A single store-bought pastry cut into pieces * Mac and cheese that tasted like boxed Velveeta * Deep-fried breakfast sausages * Ham that resembled warmed-up lunch meat * Three shrimp total for two people * A bowl of stew meat that felt completely out of place * An Eggs Benedict attempt that simply didn't work To make matters worse, some of the silverware and plates appeared dirty as well. By the end, we honestly couldn't wait to leave. The automatic $20 holiday service charge on top of the already expensive brunch really sealed the experience for us. Overpriced, Unsanitary, and Unprofessional - A $500 Disaster ​I rarely leave negative reviews, but our recent experience was truly appalling. We visited with a party of 11, including my 88-year-old grandfather. Despite the high price point--our bill was nearly $500--the standards of service and cleanliness were non-existent. ​The Issues: ​Accessibility & Cleanliness: There were zero handicap parking spots available. Inside, the restaurant was filthy; there was old food and trash under our booth, and the bathroom was in a state of neglect with toilet paper left on dirty surfaces rather than the holder. ​The Environment: We were greeted by stained, soiled paper menus and a swarm of fruit flies that stayed with us throughout the entire meal. ​Poor Service: We waited 50 minutes for basic dinner salads. My grandfather's coffee took 45 minutes to arrive. The waitress appeared visibly annoyed that she had to walk around our booth to serve us. ​Cheap Substitutes: For the price of a strip steak, you expect quality. Instead, we were served Aldi-brand steak sauce. When I asked for A1, I was handed a filthy, food-smeared bottle that was nearly empty. ​The "Refill" Incident: Our initial drinks were served half-empty. When we asked for refills, the waitress told us to finish our current glasses because they weren't free and she "didn't want to charge us." In the end, we were charged for them anyway. ​Overpriced Food: The French Onion soup is served in tiny metal bowls, not crocks. To top it off, we paid $22 for two "slices" of cheesecake to go--one of which was a literal sliver of cake. ​While the food itself was decent, no meal is worth this level of disrespect and lack of hygiene. We had reservations at 5pm. We were seated right away. It took over a half hour to receive our drinks. Once we placed our orders we weren't served our dinners until 1.5 hours after our order was placed. The waitress checked on us once during this whole time and 10 minutes before our food arrived she apologized for the wait. The food was decent however the wait was extremely long. My mom loved this place. I have previously dined with her here, but it has had a downward slide since then. While it has a nice range of menu options and some excellent dishes, some dishes are run of the mill and service on this night was poor. On the upside: * Appetizer of Stuffed Banana Peppers served with crunchy toast points was exceptional...not too spicy and a very nice melty cheese filling. * Baked Salmon served over a melange of roasted veggies was excellent * Wine selection is quite good Otherwise: * Burgers were rather flat in taste though the fries were very good * Scallop entree featured smallish, just over-cooked 'sea scallops' of a size between 'sea' and 'bay' * Soup of the day with beans & sausage sounded great but underwhelmed * Salads were okay - nothing special * Pricing exceeded the $$ rating by far with apps in the $10 - $20 range and entrees $27 - $60. I don't mind paying for a good meal experience but when selecting for others it seems that the 'truth in advertising' rule should apply. Service: * Though we had a reservation for 5, they were not prepared for us...table was not ready and they simply drew a curtain that separated two 'booth-like' narrow tables. The steaks are an absolute highlight--perfectly cooked and dripping with flavorful juices. And don't get me started on the dessert station! Syrupy drizzles and icing galore. Dinner Club February! The Mansard Fine Drink & Eatery for prime rib Tuesday. We had a mostly good experience. Sat down to the most uncomfortable booth ever. Did some seat switching after we sat down but I wouldn't wish those booths on anyone. We all kept kicking each other under the table the entire meal and I couldn't even cross my legs they were so small.  Had the calamari for an app and it was delicious! Saucy sweet thai chili with carrots and it was a big portion! We also had rolls and butter come to the table. It was totally unexpected they we're deliciously warm with warm butter as well!  We all had prime rib, first person ordered, then I person ordered and asked what sides it comes with. Waitress said it comes with green beans, and mashed potatoes(in added gravy) and she said we also get soup or salad. She listed off the options and I said I wanted french onion soup, then she took order of first persons soup/salad then got the other 2 orders. Fast forward to when the bill comes we were charged for 3 out of 4 soup/salads. Big disappointment when she said we got soup/salad and she listed them off with no mention of upcharge. We even said to her for future reference to let people know when ordering there was a charge but she didn't seem to care, or apologize or anything. She said it was under the entrees section of the main menu but we ordered off the daily special menu(picture below) with with no mention of upcharge on that menu.  Anyways.... The prime rib was delicious! We had both options at the table the sous vide and the charbroiled. Both were incredibly tender and prepared perfectly with a side of au jus. The green beans were yummy and the mashed potatoes were fluffy and the gravy was absolutely amazing!  Got the sponge candy cheese cake for dessert and unfortunately it left alot to he desired..we didn't even finish it. The only sponge candy was lightly sprinkled on top and the cheesecake center was more like a mousse filling.  Overall I would go back if there were other table options. They do have a phenomenal beef on weck on Wednesdays. read more

On Wednesday, I called to make reservations for 4 on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised they were available on such short notice (but there weren't many looking to have dinner right at opening (at 4:30)). We were seated immediately and greeted by Hannah and Mercedes, our servers for the evening. 3 of us ordered cocktails and while they were accommodating to rim a peach margarita with sugar instead of salt, I received a white Russian instead of The Bourdain (tanqueray, sweet vermouth, campari & an orange peel). Once that was corrected, we enjoyed delicious appetizers of exotic mushroom soup, French onion soup, and crab cakes. The salads were standard (not anything special), and there wasn't much time between getting our salads and the main entrees. Among the 4 of us, we ordered the Chicken Almondine, Pork Shank, Beef Tips with Pasta in a Gorganzola Cream sauce, and the Smoked Pork with pasta. Everyone loved their meals. We also ordered 2 cups of regular coffee, a cup of decaf, an apple crisp, a blackberry custard pie, a tiramisu, and a chocolate peanut butter explosion. I personally felt there was a lot of time between receiving the appetizers and the salads/entrees. The table has a bumpy surface and I dumped my cup of coffee all over myself. The replacement mug still had lipstick on it, so a third cup was required. Our servers didn't come back once dessert was served to see if anyone needed coffee refills (which we did). My refill must have been from a fresh pot of coffee. It was much hotter than the first cup and I was extra careful with lifting and moving the mug. My family had our Christmas party at the Mansard Inn last Saturday and we had the time of our lives. They gave us the whole upstairs. The dining room and the lounge were completely spacious, warm, inviting and accommodating for my big family. I have been to the Mansard Inn in the past and the food I remember was absolutely incredible. I am glad to see that remains true. We had a well-stable menu of soup or salad and the choice of turkey, à la Jerome, chicken almondine, or Salmon. I had the Chicken Almondine it was well-balanced in flavor and well-seasoned, and it was juicy and tender. This place has not lost its charm, ambiance, and well-diverse menu. Best of all was the service. The hostess and servers were so friendly, warm, welcoming, and inviting that we felt right at home as they asked us for Christmas dinner. I've never experienced stellar service like that. I will Be returning here again, maybe for future parties. Thank you, Mansard Inn, for your excellent hospitality. Five stars read more

We haven't been to The Mansard in probably 20 years. My parents used to go here back in the 70s and 80s. It retains much of the classic ambience that I remember. A trip back in time, but everything is well-maintained. I like this kind of ambience - authentic retro. We didn't get a full dinner, but took advantage of the $6 Beef On Weck special that they run on Wednesdays. The service was good, but they did seem a bit short-staffed. Both my wife and myself had the Beef on Weck, and it is one of the better ones. The roast beef was medium-rare and freshly sliced. Not the dry, gray roast beef you get at many establishments. It wasn't the biggest sandwich, but for $6 it was a great deal and of very high quality. The negatives: The horseradish had zero kick to it. Plus it was reported to me that the ladies room is tiny, and one of the stalls was out of order. Some older buildings are lacking in this regard. We noted that the bar was packed, unusual for a Wednesday night with no hockey game. Not sure if the Beef on Weck special was the draw, but I am guessing that is the case. I'm quite sure we'll come back for the roast beef again, and eventually for a formal dinner. And I think I'll stop at the bar sometime. read more

For Mother's Day, we decided on our second lockdown take out order from The Mansard Inn (The first was my birthday dinner in early April). They have been putting together some very interesting menus and special offers, and the meal for Mother's Day could be resisted! For the entree I chose the Lobster Stuffed Shells and sides were the Pancetta Spring Peas and Smoked Gouda Gratin Potatoes. It also came with a house salad and dinner rolls. Just a reminder, this was take away so the playing in the images is a mess. To put it lightly. Before it was just piled onto the plates though, all of the food had been carefully placed inside individual waxed cardboard boxes and displayed surprisingly well for such containers. The Lobster Shells were lined in rows with the spinach underneath as a nice bed, and the sauce drizzled over top. A presentation entirely ruined when I tried to take them out of the box! Starting with the salad, it could have had more variety in the lettuce greens. Some romaine or spinach could have added to the flavor and texture of the mesclun. But it was still a good salad and the homemade dressing was savory and delicious. The peas with the pancetta brought a nice flavor pairing. The kids complained that it was too much peas and not enough of the meat, but they snub vegetables any chance they can! I thought it was a perfect balance. The smoked Gouda gratin potatoes were a heavy but satisfying flavor. A good counterpart to the peas. The lobster shells were an interesting taste. At first bite, the flavor of the well-minced lobster was hidden behind the intense flavors of the pasta and cheeses. But as you had more of the Shell, the lobster became more noticeable and became a good companion to the other tastes in the entree. I prefer good visual chunks of seafood in stuffed dishes, but I can't argue with the flavor! A great meal overall and I'd certainly recommend anyone looking for good take out to give The Mansard a try. We might even plan to dine-in whenever that is an option again; their roast duck rolls have been a tempting addition to their menu! read more

I hadn't visited this restaurant in years but remembered it being a very nice place. My boyfriend & I tried it recently and had a wonderful meal. He had the seafood fettuccine & said the seafood was tender & the sauce was great. I had the special of the night pork tenderloin served with roasted vegetables It was very tasty. I ordered off of the early bird menu, slightly smaller serving if ordered between 4 and 5:30. It was more than enough, even a doggy bag. I had the shrimp linguini. Initially I thought there were only 3 shrimp as that's all that were on top of my bowl of linguini with mushrooms and spinach. There were at least 6 more shrimp "hiding" in the linguini! Dinner comes with either a bowl of soup or a choice of tossed or Caesar salad. I had the Caesar. It was nice, but I thought a bit too much dressing on it. I did ask the waitress for some freshly ground black pepper. It made a difference in my linguini. The sauce was close to an Alfredo, but not quite as cheesy. It was Friday, so I enjoyed their fish fry. A huge piece of beer battered cod, very well done. The dish was completed with french fries, Cole slaw and tartar sauce. The fries could have been a little crispier for me, the Cole slaw was nice and had a little sweet hint to it. I could not pinpoint it, but it was nice. I definitely needed a doggie bag! Read a mix of reviews, so after lurking for what seems like years, we finally made our first visit to The Mansard, ordering from their late afternoon (early dinner) limited menu. Our reservations were taken through Google Assistant. The main entrance is a short stair climb, then a minimal foyer. A coffee station and a bar room on either flank; a few more paces brings us to the host's area and the dining room. I was a bit put off by the smell of the place, a bit musty. Looking up, I noticed the ceiling vents were a little grubby. By contrast, the waitress was gracious and attentive. Concerning the condition of the menus: water ring-covered copy paper is not what one expects in a restaurant with cloth napkins. A leatherette folder with clear pockets for the loose menu pages would add a level of fine-dining detail. Regarding the brass curtain rods and rings alongside the dining area: I would so have loved to see that precious hardware polished to a sparkling shine. The food came as ordered on mismatched plates that were too big for the width of the table, as we spent our meal clinking china as we used our knives and forks. Ending this review on a positive note, the food was stupendous. My mouth waters just thinking about it. We left this restaurant full and happy. I give this establishment a solid four stars, knowing my peeves are easy fixes. We will return. read more

When things are "open" I love coming here on Sunday for a Bills game. It's a smaller crowd and there's limited seating, but the food and drinks are exactly what you need to watch football. The Mansard has an incredible menu, I've never had anything that I didn't love. I finally tried their Beef on Weck $6 Wednesday take out and it did NOT disappoint. Hand carved, cooked perfectly medium - it comes with a bit of au jus and horseradish. The truffle fries and shells and cheese were a great side. Phenomenal food. I have never had anything less than a great meal here. Whoever is the head chef there, they need to do everything they can to keep him around! Incredible staff, very friendly & personable.. just wonderful people. They really make you feel welcome and like you're part of the family that owns it. You'll catch a glimpse of some of their kids every now and then.. it's very endearing. Feels like home. They've recently added a huge deck for outdoor dining during the spring - fall seasons and even have live music over the summer. Different specials, seasonal foods.. I have been going to The Mansard Inn since before I was born. I grew up loving the turkey a la Jerome, fresh rolls, muffins, and french onion soup. Months after new ownership took place, my family and I decided to go for dinner. The dining room and decor had been refreshed but that's the only nice thing I have to say. The benefit of buying a restaurant with its classic recipes is that it brings people in the door. I will never walk through that door after today's experience. Roll: store bought French onion soup: tasted like watery beef water with minimal onions and a gross cheese cap. Turkey a la Jerome: NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL RECIPE. It is clear that the new owners cut corners because it tasted cheap and nothing like my taste buds had known for 30 years. The owner, Becky tried insisting that the recipe is the exact same but it's not. Our waitress who has taken care of us for years agreed with us when we said everything was not the same. Nothing about this establishment screams fine dining. They can't even use a nice peppermill over your salad instead of the store bought grinder. The prices were raised for lesser quality. The owners engage in "extracurricular activities" in the kitchen, the food is not good, and the owners old place was not good. Bar staff was terrible. All they did was talk about partying after their shift and who was going to "pick up the bag." I wouldn't trust the food. Bar area is really cool to sit at actually. Limited menu for Covid. Food was superb. Shared some truffle fries, awesome. My review will echo that of numerous others. I've loved The Mansard Inn for many years-it was always a nice treat for Valentine's and other special holidays. We returned recently after hearing it had been re-opened under new management. Sadly, it was not as good. The cozy and warm atmosphere has changed. Instead of a quiet, classy environment that spoke of fine dining, you are greeted by a rowdy bar crowd, a dining area that has been stripped of the nicer touches, and loud pop/classic rock from the overhead speakers. It now feels like a low-rent bar and grill hole in the wall, rather than the Mansard of old. The waitress was trying, but seemed like she was being harried by the owner, never smiled once, and brought my gf the wrong appetizer and told her that she ordered something completely different than she did. No big deal, as she left it, and did bring the correct app later (though the wait in both cases was long). My Turkey a la Jerome was pasty and over-cooked (Jerome must have left the building lol), her Beef on Weck was ok. The french onion soup-previously a highlight here-was watery, flavorless, and covered with a plasticky cheese-like substance. Overall, pretty poor fare for a relatively high asking price. In summary, please stop cutting corners, improve the quality and atmosphere, or change the name out front-you are dragging a great name through the mud. read more

I stopped here three nights ago to grab takeout after my grocery store job. They have a really good system. You call ahead, give them your credit card information over the phone, and then tell them what time you would like to pick up your food. I saw one of their Facebook ads for their duck egg rolls and lobster fettuccini. They're both new additions to their menu. I "had to" try them both. When I pulled into their parking lot, I called them to say I was there. They brought it right out and placed it into my passenger seat through the window. I gave them a cash tip through the window. My meal items came to $43.50, prior to my cash tip. I feel like based on the high quality of the items and the presence, that the high price was worth it. The duck egg rolls were different. They were in a small box with soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce. I enjoyed them. They weren't as crispy as I would've liked but I think that might be because I asked to pick them up at 6:15 and I didn't make it there until 6:30. The lobster fettuccini was fantastic. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was really delicious and they gave me a hearty portion. It was enough for two more meals. It came with a roll and soup or salad. I chose the soup which was cream of mushroom. It was great as well. I might get takeout from here again during the pandemic. They have a Wednesday beef on weck $6.00 deal that I'd like to try. House arrest. Essentially that is what we are all under. Boredom and angst are constant companions of mine. My job is considered "essential", so I do work. How I spend the rest of my day is mandated by government issues. Anyway. I, and my daughter, are sick of cooking. We have been doing the local take out/door dash/grub hub, etc. There are only so many options in the South Towns. Back to The Mansard. I haven't been there in YEARS. It's under new management and the menu has been tweaked a bit. Looked at it and decided to give it a go. I ordered, my daughter picked up - clandestine would be best way to describe the food transfer - and I examined the goods upon her return home. Initially I was not happy with my choice. Pot roast over mashed yukons with cauliflower. Upon tasting said dish I WAS FREAKING AMAZED at how artfully and tasty this dish was! Real spuds, nicely seasoned cauliflower and the beef, which concerned me at first since it seemed naked and not braised at all, was wonderful! Tender and so good. Rolls, I believe made in house, accompanied the meals. Melt in your mouth rolls. Hubby got the lamb chops - which he is still talking about - and daughter got a steak sammie. Delightful! I hope that The Mansard stays open in these strange times because I see many more meals coming my way from this resurrected, lovely restaurant. read more

Just had the Easter brunch, very disappointed. Food was cold and 2 off the items that were supposed to be part of the brunch, chicken fingers and shells were not even served. For the price I would have been better off just going to McDonald's. read more
