Can't compare to a state park. They "try" here. At least with state parks, people have respect for each other. Every time we come here, neighbors keep us up til 1am Went to the indoor pool yesterday. They much have dumped 500 gallons of chlorine in the pool. Eyes were on fire. Lot of people complaining and had to leave. Brought this up with the camp store. Problem not resolved. They couldn't open the doors as they were padlocked People drive like damn maniacs as well. They post speed limit signs of 5 mph. Staff always yell at campers to slow down but they can't even adhere to the signs. Always see staff driving their little golf carts at Mach 2. Smh Oh. One time I came here, there was literally shit everywhere on the men's bathroom. My friend's parents have a membership so we did a girl weekend. How fun! We rented one of the larger cabins and it was cute and clean and had ac, plates, cups and pots and pans. Just FYI because we weren't sure and brought our own everything. We looked like we were moving out of our houses. You had to take your own sheets and pillows. Bed wasn't overly comfortable for me but I slept fine on the little couch. You can kayak and canoe and paddle board and it's not anything extra! They have putt putt that's included too. They have events and themes too. I wouldn't pay for a membership because it's way overpriced, but being a guest was fun! read more

On January 8, 2022, The Outdoor Adventure Group convinced us that we were making a good investment in their program. We took the tour and saw their "Model Cabin" as well as the rest of the park in Davison, Michigan. We believed what they told us, which was a big mistake. The cabin they showed us had three nice big TVs we assumed worked. It had nice amenities and everything was polished and new looking. We were told all of the cabins had WiFi and a lot of other things which turned out to be deceitful. Our complaints are: 1. There was no WiFi at all in our cabin #33. 2. There was only one TV, much smaller than the ones in the model cabin. The mounts and cables were still on the walls in both the kitchen and the bedroom, but the only TV was in the living room. 3. The TV did not work . . . there were no stations we could access. 4. Light bulbs were burned out. 5. The furniture was a disgrace. 6. There was not enough hot water for two showers. 7. The dishes had not been cleaned . . . there was dried coffee in the bottom of the coffee cups dried juice in the bottom of several of the glasses. 8. Formica on the kitchen countertop was loose and caught on our clothing several times almost braking off and snagging our cloths. 9. The roads and walkways were ice covered and slippery. No sand nor salt had been applied. It was very dangerous for us to walk over to the community center, or the "dome" as they call it. 10. The community center, or the "dome" as they call it, which we had a coupon for some free snacks, had no snack shack as was advertised. 11. Now, after our meeting April 24 at 3:00, we found out that our annual maintenance fee is going to at least double. When we purchased their program, we were told the "dues" were going to be $588.00 per year. Yesterday we were told they are already up over $800.00 and yesterday he called them maintenance fees rather than dues. Very disappointed. We first came here a year ago and things were somewhat better than they are currently. The staff and management are seem very small-minded and just troll you at this point. Our Ford Expedition had broken down the second day we stayed there and we were forced to have it towed away for repairs. Then, we called the staff for a golf cart to help us travel to the other parts of the camp easier since we're a family of eight. Nearly every time, they're always out of golf carts. And when we finally reserved one the first day we arrived here and went to pick it up the next day, the cart broke five minutes after using it. It's like the staff aren't fixing anything around this place! They're robbing people of their cash for crap like this! Without a car or a golf cart, we were forced to walk with my children all around the camp to get to the pools in 90+ degree weather. Not only that, but a staff member came to our RV one night and left a ticket on our RV saying we left the RV for them to tow since they didn't see a car by it. The part that enrages me the most about this is that we've been outside of our RV the entire day especially because our nephews and their parents came to spend the day with us! How could they claim we've just abandoned our RV?! Now, getting all of this out of the way, I have to say that the campsite is falling apart. Pieces of the fence railing are just trailing in the water, life jackets are messed up which is literally a hazard, the bathrooms and pools are filthy at times. Pros: close to home (little over an hour away) Lots of nice campsites with full hook-up Two outdoor pools, plus a hot tub and mini lazy river Two beach areas Large fishing/kayaking/paddle boarding and paddle boat pond Golf cart rentals (which is a pro and con, as they could use more because so many people want to rent them) Mini golf Grill (pro and con, as it's there and food is good. However, they sure take their time when taking your order and making it) Cons: sometimes just way too many people; especially when driving and kids are darting every which way right in front of you Renting a golf cart is cut throat during peak season, as you basically have to be right there as someone turns one in. I am a member here and every year the prices go up this year do to COVID19 they have come up with all new bills. This is supposed to be a family friendly place but they seem to be taking advantage of the family's they have. Overall experience has been awful. We have had the worst customer experience and would not recommend anyone spending the amount of money we did for an awful experience. They will tell you anything you want to hear to make it sound like an awesome place to camp, however everything is a lie. We are told multiple different things and then told "I dont know why they would tell you that." Ive been a member here since around 2011, about 6 years ive Loved coming here, over thr past 2 years this resort has lost its appeal, with crappy roads, showers with no benches in them to put your belongings while you shower other than the floor. Security thinks they're the top dogs, come knocking on your camper door doing checks, inconsiderate of people that stay up late. Treat you like your are a criminal. Had a friend come help me set up and he was appauled how they treated me trying to get thru security. Next day went to register because the store was closed after i set up, got another 1,000 questions with being told security would be by checking the site and then i told her they best not, she changed her tune and said oh you dont need to worry about it they won't be. When you get a "GUEST" they (security) gives them a pass for the ENTIRE amount of your stay. Why would they do that? read more

This location is trashy and went downhill... All there is to it. We have been members for quite sometime. Very disappointed in this location as they hype this one up. We typically stay over in the West MI area or more up north at their other properties and love them. We decided to try this location out as it has been awhile since we stayed here. They don't check who members are and could care less about who comes into the park. People have their kids run around or just drive like idiots in golf cart to ask people's names or look at the last name of campers signs in the front of their lots to use at the gate to stay here. People save sites by putting coolers or camper chairs in spots which should not be allowed if you are not physically present at the time. The lot we stayed in was absolutely disgusting. It took all day for maintenance to come and clean it after contacting the office 3 times throughout the day. Cigarettes and dog poop left from the people before. They finally came picked up the poop, but forgot their rake and came back after he had to clean needles out of a fire pit while police were investigating. Seriously, google it or check with the local police dept on this. Golf carts driving all around at all times blaring music. If you don't want to pay for a membership just come here, they will let you in. If you are a respectful member, go to one of their other properties where you will feel comfortable, safe, and you can enjoy the amenities that you pay for with the quality and safety of their parks they sell you on. This place is way too overcrowded with people. The pools and all the amenities that come with this specific location, they can not accommodate all the people they allow in. We did not feel comfortable staying here especially with little ones visiting with us. I do not recommend this specific park until major changes are made within the park or employees. read more

It was our first visit here and definitely our last. Horrible doesn't begin to describe it and trashy would be too much of a compliment. Security staff is more concerned with being glued to their phones than looking out for the safety and security of guests throughout the park. Life jackets for the boats and kayaks are a joke, ripped up and won't even buckle. Trucks with loud music and bass cranked up driving throughout the park and security isn't even doing anything about it. Indoor pool burns your eyes before even getting in the water because of the strong chlorine smell. We even overheard people at the pool talking about abusing the free pass every year, where you attend the sales presentation and get a free weekend stay. Honestly, it's mostly those that didn't seem to understand the rules of the park and ruin it for others who actually pay to be members. Bandages also laying around the pools, hot tubs and lazy river. We even heard members (and staff as well) discuss gang fights be broken up on the property and authorities having to be called. Avoid this place at all costs. Go to Standish or Mount Pleasant instead. read more

This company gets one star from my family. Corporate customer service is EXTREMELY rude and their stiff policies make enjoying the membership difficult. It all sounds great on paper but using it is AWFUL and so inconvenient. While I wish we wouldn't have signed up at all (I'll say, the salesmen are very good, very convincing), I'm glad we only got the 2 year sample membership. We will never use Outdoor Adventures again and definitely will spread the word to fellow campers. The final straw to that decision was an attempt at canceling a reservation. $50 to do so last minute. On a weekend they won't be remotely close to full, and due to an emergency with my husband's job (which I can provide them proof of), we will not physically be able to come up. Still charging us the fees. We've already paid the membership off, so we've paid more than enough to cover the space, yet they have got to get their nickels and dimes in. And the attitude I was met with on the phone was unacceptable. The manager was worse than the customer service rep. We also have had poor experiences in finding appropriate lots for our camper due to their reservation system. You can't pick the lots until you arrive, so we literally had to squeeze in to a tiny lot because they were so full. They romanticize the idea of having so many lots to choose from, but the actual implementation is horrible. It's a shame because the Lake Shore resort is beautiful and the amenities are nice. My kids love it. I would love it, too, if it wasn't a SCAM. DON'T FALL FOR THE SALES PITCH! IT'S NOT WORTH IT. I know more people who regret their memberships than who actually enjoy them. They'll tell you one thing so they'll get your money and then next time it's a totally different story. You won't get what you agreed on. They'll promise you just lies. The membership fees are outrageously expensive but then they'll require you to pay for a daily fee. Like this makes any sense! If there's a daily fee, why are there membership fees? So I pay thousands of dollars so I'll have the chance to PAY ANOTHER FEE and then go there. And they'll say " well that vehicle permit policy serves to reduce traffic" well how am I supposed to come? Walking? The location is not within a city. It's out of town. You need a car. You can't neither walk or ride a bike. Complete bullshit. Later when you actually enter to location you'll see there's only ONE single pool and every time I've been there, there are AT LEAST 40 people in it. You don't even have 3 ft of free area around you. I got two calls from them changing my reservations after I made it. I went from a pet unit on the north shore, to a pet unit on the south side to a non-pet unit. I am just so disappointed. I won a giveaway for 7 days of camping at any Outdoor Adventures Resort and was told I had one year from the date I received the prize (October 2021 for reference) to use the camping vouchers. When I called to make my reservation (July 2022), I was told that the prize was "no longer valid" because they had "changed some policies" since I had won and tent campers were no longer allowed to use the vouchers!!!! When I asked to speak to a manager they said one would call me back right away. An entire week went by with no call, so I called again and received the same response that "someone would get back right away." Needless to say this went on for weeks and I have STILL NOT received a call. I am absolutely furious and completely blown away at their lack of communication, pure violation of a prize contract (yes, I read the fine print), and the lack of decency that this company has shown me. I'm a big camper, hiker, mountain biker, climber, kayaker, and outdoor enthusiast who is extremely involved in the outdoor community, and I will make sure to make every person I know aware of this scam of a company so that they (and everyone they know) do no make the mistake of booking with them. read more

It is not worth even using your free stay from general RV but if you do, don't fall for the lies. Not to mention you can buy a membership from a private seller for quarter of the cost. If you read reviews most members have negative review. Only people who stayed as a friend or quick visit give positive because they don't see all the hidden fees and crap they pull on members. Has really gone down hill! Very poor management. Roads are full of potholes, indoor pool dome is going on 2 years of just sitting there. No work getting done. Pools and hot tubs are always so full you can't even swim/relax comfortably. Ice cream is always out or not working, half the bathrooms don't work and they don't even leave out of order signs on the door so nobody even knows. Yet they continue to have sales driving through all day telling lies lies lies!!!Upped our fees yet again this year....for what!?!?!? Absolute disgrace. Second issue is the security guys, they are mostly 18-20 somethings Who think because they have on a security shirt and a 2 way radio they are just under the FBI. The female security are not on a power trip they are very friendly as well as most of the staff. Third issue reservations what a cluster f you call the number no one ever answers, just do it online and pray there is no issues. Now time to find a site easy right? Wrong another nightmare you find a site don't bother by the lake it's the same people on the lake who swap with their friends so it's impossible to get one. So say you find one you now go back to the store let them know where u set up then they send you to the parking pass line where before you get your pass they ask you if you would like to go to a seminar to learn about upgrading your membership just skip it get a pass at the gate next time you go out. The park itself is nice but everyone in feels screwed so if you get one for a grand keep it to yourself because some people got took for 20,000. This used to be a nice resort. We still enjoy a couple of the other locations, but Davison feels like a trashy trailer park. Not family friendly. My kid thinks they have a skunk problem because all you smell is weed, and hear 'F*^% you!' and 'Shut the F?!@ up!' everywhere you go. As if we didn't feel bad enough about the atmosphere, my kids brand new bike was stolen from our campsite!! When I called to report it, they said "ok we'll put a note up to keep an eye out" I said "would you like a description of the bike? And my name and number?"
