Whether you're looking for a family getaway or just a relaxing weekend, the Bavarian Inn Lodge offers something for everyone. We had a great time. They also have an area that you can walk to and watch the Peacocks. As far as the rooms, they are okay. The restroom is tight, with the toilets sitting inches from the shower. Rooms are spacious but smelled a little musky. Luckily, we were able to open up the window. Once we did that it smelled a little better. I think it may be from folks walking around wet and dripping on the carpet.

The second time I called, I ASKED to speak to a manager and was switched over, so of course she didn't hear the laughter or giggling I heard. The trip started off fairly well, until around dinner time! We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for dinner after the automated system said 20-40 minutes. When I did call, I was met with laughter on the other line and was told, "we're understaffed - but are you the room that ordered all the beer?" "Nope. Definitely not. We have kids in tow and we do not drink. Me and my family are STILL waiting for food..." To which she laughed again, said they were understaffed and claimed the young lady hauling food was on the floor and would be "right there". 15 minutes later, I called again and they removed the food from our bill - which I appreciated, but also hated having to ask for - AGAIN. Also, asking me about an 'order' because the staff was already taking too long seemed borderline inappropriate. That being said, my kiddos are both 7, one chose this waterpark as her birthday venue, and everyone had a fun time. (It's a tad frustrating that check-in is so late and in order to get INTO the water park, with the most slides that is, you had to pay extra. So, anyone who pays for just the park gets in earlier technically. Which again, is a tad annoying. You pay more to stay and then pay even more to play. The lazy river, the family raft ride and the outside hot tub were their favorites to play around in a there are a few inside we didn't even check out. The breakfast/dinner/game time coupons and cards were all pretty nifty and we used every single one of them. It is a bit misleading that the place to enjoy dinner is the 'Bavarian Inn Restaurant' and is not attached to the hotel in any way and says it closes at 8:00. We booked it there to arrive in time for a dinner only to see them seating people at 8:55. All of our issues revolved around meals/food, and younger staff members just joking around when you try to ask questions, but overall - my kiddos had a great time and that was the goal.

They got you covered. Here at East Village Inn, your room will come with broken Wifi, and 24-hour built-in aroma therapy. Rather you are laying on your bed, relaxing in a chair or soaking in the tub; close your eyes or enjoy the art work and breath in the exciting smells ranging from Back Alley Piss, Mighty Mildew, Musty Misery, Funky Feet, Classic Cigarette, and even some mystery scents. We had the murder mystery lunch and she accommodated a vegan and 2 vegetarians and as had tomato bisque, scones and sandwiches. We also had a peach cobbler dessert. The scones are the best renditions I've found this side of the Atlantic. I consider myself to be an amateur scone connoisseur after eating plenty on trips abroad (would that just be called an American that eats scones? ), and these scones were amazing. They were presented with clotted cream, which is a rarity in America. None of that mattered to the rest of my party - they loved the scones independently. They are that good. Apart from that, we were served cucumber sandwiches, strawberry sandwiches, tea and coffee on china perfectly patterned for a tea party in a 1900s-era mansion. Following, we had soup and salad, both of which were very good. The staff was attentive, the food was good, the atmosphere was adorable. Again, don't miss the scones. The mansion is beautiful. Apart from impressive architecture, much is original or has been restored in the time period. It's so pretty, and as many of the guest rooms were empty on this particular day, the staff was happy to let us tour. Holly, one of the owners, even gave us a brief history lesson of the place, including her personal ghost stories. She was quick to note that the Lapeer Historical Society presents a tour of the Peters Mansion, so she is not the authority on the history, but was happy to answer what questions she could. They're working on restoring the ballroom on the third floor! I can only imagine. And we're planning on returning for that. We learned that they're open most Saturdays for visitors (which we never knew) and plan on returning with some other family members for that, too. The staff allowed our party to continue for a few hours, allowing us to enjoy our time and never rushed us. They even jumped in to offer to take group pictures! They were just nice people, and you could tell that they enjoyed entertaining in the beautiful mansion. Highly recommend. I'm sad we didn't do this earlier and plan to make it a tradition!

We have stayed here at least 4 times over the past 5 years, usually 1-2 weeks at a time. I feel like a kid staying at Grandma's House. The rooms we have stayed in do not have carpet, #10-one bed and small-perfect for 1 person; #4-two beds, table & chairs, larger bathroom. Cant remember the other room numbers-sorry! There are plenty of throw rugs throughout. There are no weird squiggly light bulbs, just regular Tom Edison type. Yay! All rooms have a microwave, I think. No refrigerators, so bring a cooler if u need it. There is also a small heater and A/C mounted in each room's wall. All rooms have a small flat screen with cable. Just served a plate of authentic cheese and potato homemade pierogi with sour cream. YUM! Josephine is one heck of a Polish cook! Beautiful huge pine and Maple trees hide this little gem of a motel. Picnic tables under the trees add to the charm. Hot dog/Coney island/pulled pork sandwich/ice cream place right next door too. Under $50 per night out the door, but cash only. This is a very cool place to stay. If you are looking for an experience in the "old ways" you will enjoy The Maple Leaf Motel.

Even the bathroom was luxurious in its own way - but the best part was the breakfast. Maureen clearly has amazing skills in the kitchen. Even though the food itself was simple, the flavors were well balanced and perfectly seasoned. She is also very tentative and when our car failed us, she loaned us her truck so my birthday dinner want ruined. How many B&B owners would do that for complete strangers? That's God at work people. It brought a tear to my eye. All in all, this was a great birthday weekend and we WILL be coming back!

I've been staying here for almost 3 months and by now I feel like I'm part of a little neighborhood. The office worker is cool and the maintenance guy is always helpful and ready with a smile. Really for the $$ you can't beat it. I wish they allowed pets.
