I have taken my Grandson to Moby Dick's twice so far. We had a great time! The first time he caught about 25 fish! Besides being fun he learned a lot about how to let the fish take the bait and just how hard to set the hook, how to take fish off the hook. It is a great way to learn about fishing in a place where there are a lot of fish. But, no guarantees! Although there are a lot of fish of all types sometimes they bite, sometimes they don't. Our second trip we didn't get a bite for 3 .5 hours. Then we changed locations around the lake and the last hour we caught six fish. One was a big catfish, about 8 to 10 lbs. Besides being fun, fishing will make a teenager start talking to you! That's the best part. And after you go fishing Southside Market BBQ is just East on Hwy 71! From March to October, take deet bug spray and watch for snakes!

Andy and Reagan have a truly enterprise format. From the multiple covered docks, vegetation for huge array of species to thrive, and their customer service is above reproach. This morning without a reservation (several other places we planned to fish didn't have any activity). Having Grandson and his dad only in town for a short period; wanted a good catch. Moby Dick's catch and release is exactly our format. We caught countless hand size bluegill. The grandson tipped the scale for a 1.75 lb largemouth; the winner of day. Son-in-law landed a 5-6 lb largemouth. There is more to this story. Lol. Had him grasped for lifting out of water and he had just enough fight in him for one last flip. Back in pond he went before picture. We did get a pic of grandson's catch. Andy and Reagan we will definitely be back. Thanks again. Respectfully, Joshua and his gang.

It's was time for something fresh and something new for my sons 11th birthday, it was time to get him and his friends out into nature and moby dicks didn't disappoint. We had 11 5th graders here for a birthday party and everyone caught 5 or more fish in 2 hours. The biggest catch was a 15lb catfish. Andy and Reagan were excellent hosts and had everything taken care of for us, we just showed up and started reeling in the fun.

Wonderful fishing experience for kids and adults alike. Reagan and Andy are very kind and accommodating. They keep their premises clean, friendly, and most importantly well stocked of fish. Definitely coming back soon!!!

First time fishing experience for my 5 and 7 year old kids. They had a wonderful time. Such gorgeous lake and surrounding nature. Andy and his family were so very accommodating we wanted to take them to dinner afterwards! We caught so many fish! Our 5 year old was blown away at his 2lb catfish. Rates were super affordable! But bring extra water. Perfect conclusion to our Austin vacation. Ed

This place is a hidden gem! So relaxing and your guaranteed not only a catch but a relaxing great time. The owners are so hospitable and kind. This is definitely a place my family and I will continue to make memories at. Thank you so much for opening up your gates and allowing us to come have an amazing time!

Not kept up whatsoever, multiple things were knocked over and untouched. Can tell there hasn't been many people coming here for obvious reasons. All we saw were tiny little blue gill, no bites at all. The "docks" were completely makeshift out of roof shingles and various other unsafe items. Assuming the owner was who we spoke with, said she would text us over liability waivers to sign before we went out fishing and never received them. I guess they are lucky we didn't fall through their makeshift bull crap docks. Place is a complete joke, not worth the money.

We were a party of about 15 people and over half of us caught fish! Several people caught multiple fish. The staff was very friendly and helpful as they drove around the pond to help us all out. Most of us used their poles but the staff helped me set up my own, guiding me through the proper hook, weight, etc. I learned a great deal from the staff about fishing for catfish and I can't wait to go back!

First bass, caught within the first 10 minutes.

I brought the kids out here at the end of last week and we had a great time. We caught several bass, a good sized catfish and one of the biggest crappie I've ever seen! The owner was nice, helpful, and even brought more minnows directly to us!

IME, it is best to get work done after the hunting rush. Wait times get worse the closer you get to fall. Apr through Jul is usually best. I had a pistol Cajunized in the busy season and it took a little over a month. I took one in during mid-Spring, dropped it off at 11, and had it done same day by 4:30. The DA/SA are so much lighter and crisper. I have Cajunized one myself, so I know what is involved. It is surprisingly hard to find gunsmiths with experience Cajunizing, or with CZs in general. I guess it makes sense, they are far less common than Glocks, M&Ps, etc. I have had smiths tell me they do not work on CZs, or they say "we can do that, we'll figure it out," which is not comforting. Each time I came in, the associate at the counter brought me to talk to a gunsmith. He knew the order the parts go back in, that some jobs like the mag release are easier when everything is already apart, and that you have to remove the front sight pin to replace the barrel bushing. The sear cage is a nightmare to get back together, so I'm happy to outsource it. It's clear they do a bunch of them here, so it takes less time than me installing it or a smith doing it for the first time.

For a weekend morning we were happy to snag a spot and made our way down to the rental area. You can decide on single vs double kayaks or paddleboards and rent by the hour. We were excited to go paddle boating, but the experience was extremely disappointing…read more The lake had so much algae that it wrapped around the paddle boat's propeller every few seconds, making it incredibly difficult to move. Instead of enjoying our time on the water, we spent most of it stopping to remove algae just so we could keep going. My biggest issue isn't the algae itself--nature happens. My issue is that the staff never warned us about the lake conditions before renting us the paddle boats. If we had known the algae was bad enough to make paddling this difficult, we never would have rented them. On top of that, one of our paddle boats had a broken piece on the hatch used to access the propeller. I personally had to go over and help my sister because she couldn't properly open and close it to remove the algae. Every time the propeller got wrapped up again, it made the process even more frustrating. I explained the situation to an employee and pointed out the broken piece. Instead of offering a solution, I was told there was nothing they could do and that she just needed to keep removing the algae and paddle her way back to the dock. Later, when she was still struggling, we were told it would cost $50 for someone to come tow or assist her. Because we were moving so slowly due to the algae, we ended up spending more time on the lake than expected and were charged an additional $16 for another 30 minutes. That extra charge could have been avoided if we had simply been told about the lake conditions before renting the boats. Instead of taking our concerns seriously, the response was essentially, "It's better in the spring." If that's the case, then customers should be told about the current lake conditions before they're charged. We could have chosen a different activity instead of paying for an experience that turned into a struggle from start to finish. Honest communication and properly maintained equipment would have made all the difference.
