Office Staff Review. The dentist was great, but it was Omar that had me return. I can't thank Omar enough for the incredible care and support he provided. He truly listened and understood my fear of the dentist, which came from not being able to go when I was younger and later focusing on my kids' dental care instead of my own. Omar went above and beyond--following up to make sure I didn't miss important appointments, making me feel comfortable during every visit, and guiding me through challenges when others in the past would have just let me walk away. I'm not sure we could've had a worse visit. My son went to get his wisdom teeth, pulled, first of all he really didn't need them pulled they talked us into it. Secondly, they took him back there and left him alone for quite a while. Then the girl came in to put an IV in his arm and poked him like six times before she could find the vein, And he said she was on her cell phone most of the time. They did the surgery. Wheeled him to the back door, stuck him in my truck. They did not Provide any gauze or any kind of Instructions for the next few days. Also, they left the puck in his mouth that holds his mouth open. I called back to tell them what it was, and they didn't even apologize .. Just a total disaster all the way. read more

I left this office feeling completely unheard and dismissed. I went in for a crown on a very sensitive tooth that had prior surgery. Before the procedure even began, I had to correct the staff on a change to my paid services -- they tried to correct me, but I was right. That should have been my first sign. As they never even came in the room to acknowledge that they had the wrong service until I had to ask and confirm. During the numbing process of my procedure, I felt a sharp, stabbing pain I've never felt before. I raised my arm to stop the dentist and held her arm , but instead of checking if I was okay, Dr. Suresh asked me to remove my hand from her arm and continued speaking as if my pain didn't matter. She asked if I wanted to continue expressing that I had to be numb. She never acknowledged what I was trying to express. She never paused to comfort or explain, and when I was visibly shaken, she left the room without a word. A front desk staff member came in moments later to ask if I wanted to reschedule -- still, no one asked if I was okay. Later I realized she had implied to the staff that I had grabbed her for reacting to pain during an unexpected moment. That was deeply upsetting and lacked empathy. Dr. Suresh could have simply shown empathy or acknowledged the pain instead of making me feel like a problem. I canceled my future appointments and will not return. I'm only giving two stars because the front desk check-in staff were kind -- but bedside manner and compassion should never be optional in healthcare. read more

A little skeptical about coming to the office with all the negative reviews but my coworker had been coming here for a couple years and I'm glad I came because I have nothing but great things to say about this dentist. I had my first appointment Monday August 26th for a new patient. A week prior to the appointment I communicated with the front desk staff about my concerns for my wisdom teeth and expressed the amount of pain I was in. The gentleman I spoke to was very friendly, and answered all my questions. He informed me that the surgeon would be there the day of my appointment and if he had time he would be able to remove them. Come time of my appointment the front desk staff was very nice, and the office is clean and organized. I completed all my paperwork online before my appointment so I didn't have to fill anything out or sign any paperwork. I only had to wait a few minutes before the xray tech called me back to take some pictures. She was very gentle and understood the pain I was in so she took her time and went as slow as I needed to. After those were completed she brought me back and I met with my dentist Fahimeh Allahdadi, DMD. She was thorough with checking all my teeth and explained some issue I had. She was unable to do the cleaning because of how severe my wisdom teeth were, as some of them were infected. Two of them were growing in sidewise, causing them to rub against my back jaw bone so I was unable to open my mouth enough. She understood I was in a lot of pain and said she would speak to the surgeon about my situation to see if he could fit me in. A few moments later the surgeon Brannon Myrick, DMD MD walked in to ask if this is something I could do today. I told him yes, asked a million questions (I was a little nervous as I've never had anesthesia before) and he was very mellow and honestly calmed my nerves a lot. He reassured me of my worries and was confident I would do great. Once my driver arrived to sign my release paperwork the nurse brought me back to the surgery room to began my procedure. She hooked me up to a heart monitor, the oxygen and another nurse walked in to put an IV in my hand. Dr. Myrick asked the nurse to give me something to help calm my nerves, and not even 10 seconds later I felt my head hit the back of the head rest and I was OUT. I don't remember anything from the surgery, and was under for roughly 30 minutes, and that's with him removing all 4 of my teeth. Not even 24 hours later and I'm really not in any pain. I do have soreness, but the doctor prescribed me a couple different pain meds as well as an antibiotic, which I have not experienced any negative side effects. I return in a week for my cleaning and to check up on the removal cites. I am very happy with this office and everyone I encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. The dentists office can be a little overwhelming for some but can assure this practice is doing everything right. Thank you for doing all that you do! read more

Preface: Moved from out of State this summer. Was seeing previous dentist for 3 years, had treatments done when needed and had a regular cleaning done every 3 months. One deep cleaning during that time too. My previous dentist was thorough and honest as the day is long. Last check up and clean was July 2023. I will admit that my dental hygiene was not good prior to 2020, so its taken a few years to get my teeth/gums to be currently pain free Called Modern Dentistry to pick up with my regular cleanings, as a new patient (October 2023). Arrived 15 mins early to take care of new patient paperwork. I was called back for xrays, 30mins after my appointment time.. no apology for the wait. Met with Dr Alan, first thing right out the door.. you're going to need a crown on this molar that is cracked. Here we go. The last time I got a crown on a cracked tooth (that one was actually leaking), my previous dentist waited almost 1 year to take care of the crown. Moving on, thought I was getting ready for just a regular cleaning, no.. they were trying to start a deep cleaning. I remarked, I don't have time for deep cleaning today (regardless of whether I needed one or not), can I just get the regular cleaning. They said no, they would not perform the regular cleaning because it would be "unethical" lol - they just flat out refused to do it. Unfortunately for the scammy dentists of the world, my previous dentist was anything but.. so I'm probably overly vigilant at this point. I'm sure modern dentistry provide excellent care, and I'd have been willing to work with them.. but the fire and brimstone speech on the first appointment doesn't slide with me. Especially since I've been attending the dentist regularly prior to moving here. If they had said, I see a crack on this tooth, lets keep an eye on it, and if it gets worse at your next check-up, lets look at scheduling the crown. Or, your teeth could probably do with a deep cleaning soon. But we'll get you a quick clean today to take care of the above gum plaque - I would have been totally fine with that They lost a large family of potential customers today. Had an appointment on 12/20 to check for possible cavities. Had previous dentist x-rays from 11/24 forwarded to the office before appointment. I called in advance and was advised by Jay(?) that with Medicare patients LWMD never charges for initial screening. Inquired again when I arrived for appointment and was told my x-rays from 11/24 had been received and that there would not be a charge for the screening. Received a notice from Cigna today that LWMD did indeed submit a request for payment for the screening. I was lied to twice regarding this matter. read more

The staff is amazing. The dentist got my hopes up by telling me he would help me and but then kept telling me to go to the hospital to get medicine for my mouth infection and went so far to scaring me and having me stressed out and crying daily for saying "here's the signs of it getting worse" then saying "it could kill you" then to end the conversation by "I no longer can help you because your infection is beyond my skills and your dental insurance pays so low that we cant help you". That was my last phone call I got from them. Basically got my hopes up and kept telling me they will help me or if they cant he knows a oral surgeon that he will contact. The worst dental experience ever! They fired my dentist then goofed around for 5 months on extraction of an infected tooth. I went to another area dentist closure to my home in the Palisades/Lake Wylie area and received superior same day care and saved over $ 1200.00 difference in the cost with my MetLife Dental insurance! This office and especially staff Ariel are the worst ever STAYAWAY I know of 5 better offices don't confuse yourself or dare to compare with Lake Wylie FAMILY dentistry or Catawba Valley Dentistry! This is a dentistry mill run by Pacific Dental and the service is like a dental mill! They cannot keep staff, don't advise patients when staff changes, and don't currently have an oral surgeon (supposedly have one once a month but He frequently cancels) what a well shack! read more

I had a very poor experience here trying to arrange care for my 7 year old daughter. My daughter's regular pediatric dentist informed us that we needed an endodontist for an issue with one of my daughter's teeth so we really had to look hard as there aren't that many practicing endodontists that were willing to accept children and who accepted our insurance within an hour or so of our home. I was finally referred here and found the staff quite nice over the phone. They took all of our information so they could speak with the doctor and contacted me back to set up a consultation. I filled out all of the medical history, patient height and weight, etc., and sent it back as requested. A couple of weeks ago I made the trip there with my daughter and very nicely they even worked us in a bit early. Unfortunately, as soon as they called my daughter back the problems began. Most of the staff were very nice but as we were walking back my 7 year old was a little nervous. It was her first time here, there were lots of staff approaching her at once, and, you know, she's 7. As soon as we walked back one staff member flat out said something to the effect that the doctor wouldn't see my daughter as she was too small. Big mistake with a 7 year old who's already nervous and self conscious about size and I know my daughter heard it. The The staff member continued making rude comments about my daughter being nervous and could be heard from in the hall while we were in the office. One tech was very nice, introduced herself to my daughter, asked her which name she preferred to go by, and got X-rays from her with no problem. Meanwhile, the staff member who commented on my daughter being too small continued to come in and out making further comments and asking us why we even came here and questioning who referred us to them. Eventually the Endodontist came out and informed me that she would not be able to perform any work on my daughter because of her size and age. She was very nice but I did push back, asking her why we were just learning this considering I had sent a filled out medical history document via email a few days previous that contained my daughter's age, height, and weight and we had now wasted our time coming here. She informed me that she simply hadn't looked at my daughter's medical information until we arrived. She did give us some guidance but I still wish that we would have been informed that my daughter's age and size was a problem a few weeks ago when we made the appointment for the consultation. Furthermore, I was quite upset by the comments of the rude staff member and I was furious when I walked my daughter to the car and she began bawling, asking why the one lady was saying such mean things about her? I wish we had known that my daughter was ineligible a few weeks back when the appointment was first made so she wouldn't have had to deal with that. read more

Bad experience. Had to find a new dentist due to a new job and insurance. The new insurance recommended Lake Wylie Modern Dentistry. First visit was x-rays, consult by the dentist (who said I needed 3 crowns, deep scale cleaning, and a mouthguard; when my previous dentist had no issues), and a cleaning on 1/2 of my mouth- was told to come back for the 2nd half! After 2+ hours, I was charged for the cleaning that was supposed to be free according to my dental benefits. They did the same to my wife. Waste of time and money- very money focused! I will find another place that values its patients. read more

Presentation of office and staff are excellent but be careful as I will never go back to this office ever again. Experience - Due to moving to the Lake Wylie area during Covid I pushed off my every 6 months dental cleaning for 2 years and it was time to get them cleaned. Tried at this office to make an appointment for a cleaning but was told first I needed to see a DDS. Proceeded to provide my medical card from AARP-United Healthcare asking if I'm covered and was told yes after which I made the appointment (8 weeks out and waited). Finally, I go to the Dentist where I'm told I need to get x-rays which occurs ( Finding out later extra costs for special x-ray not covered was never informed) , meet and get oral exam from DDS. This all resulted in being told I have no cavities but I have gum disease and will need a regular scheduled deep cleanings which if there is financial challenges for this service the office manager can help me figure out how to pay for it. Since two years have past maybe my gums have really gotten bad but the numbers which measure gum issues which were shared during the exam were actually better then in the past so I asked if I could just schedule a cleaning to which I was flat out denied by the DDS. At that point I ended the appointment. As I was leaving the office I was asked by the office manager if I would provide feedback on my visit which I agreed to where I shared the events. Upon conclusion I was thanked and as I was leaving specifically asked if I owed any $$ for the visit to which I was told no.......but they proceeded to bill my medical provider for the x-rays and exam. Problem is I still need my teeth cleaned and this office has used up my limited dental benefits........ read more

The experience starts with a RIDICULOUS online intake form. Then you're emailed some COVID questions day before which would normally be fine, but then have to redo the COVID questions when you arrive. Why waste so much time? With the exception of the X-Ray tech, the employees in this office have zero personality. The hygienist Melissa is not pleasant. In fact she almost seemed angry with how she performed my cleaning. She's also not very efficient, as she first reviewed my gums with another technician entering a rating system into the computer. Then she left. Then the dentist reviewed my mouth and X-ray. Then the hygienist came back to do the cleaning. Very weird. Additionally the receptionist pretty much got into a verbal argument with a different customer about paying out of pocket for some routine "deep cleaning" not covered by Medicare. The dentist seemed okay, but didn't spend more than 2 minutes looking at my mouth or X-rays. I didn't even receive a complimentary toothbrush upon leaving. All in, I will never return here given this first time experience, and have already cancelled future family member visits as well. UPDATE--- I just received my EOB for this visit...$897!!!! For a "routine" checkup!!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Even a line item for Oral Hygiene Instruction, for $95. Completely and utterly ridiculous. Be CAREFUL. The $59.00 special is just to get you into the office. My husband went into the office a few months ago for the $59.00 special and told them he had insurance but it would reimburse us. All was fine, he had x-rays, exam by the Dr. and a cleaning..We were reimbursed by my insurance for the $59.00 I went in last week for the $59.00 special and told them I had insurancce, They took my card and informations. I had x-rays , exam and was presented with a complete printout of a financial arrangement for $4517.00 of which I would pay $866.00.I have been in Dentistry for over 50 years. My teeth and gums are in great conditions.for a person that is in her 70's . I was told that I have gum disease ! I would need scaling and root planing at $205.00 per quadrant,( we have 4) and ins. would pay $78.00 and then I would also need antibacterial irrigation at $95.00 each time. The hygentist would not clean my teeth!! . I walked out!!!!! They billed my insurance for $827.00 and recv'd $247.00. I found another dentist, that is not part of a major, nationwide dental corporation like Pacific Dental, that is not interested only in MONEY but interested in my dental health. That office said my teeth were great, no gum disease, I had my cleaning and they will file my insurance for $99.00 cleaning. So be CAREFUL when going to a NEW DENTAL PRACTICE. i am contacting my insurance company about this claim. read more
