Perfect weather for a scenic late fall drive down the 400 to Holland. And what a nice surprise to find such good food and service in such an out-of-the-way, humble location. Our usual lunch group was pleased overall with the food. I was tempted by one of the day's specials: roasted red pepper mac & cheese. This consisted of a heaping portion of well-cooked pasta, dotted with bits of the red pepper, and coated in a tasty cheese sauce. One friend couldn't resist the meatloaf sandwich, and what a construction that was! A thick slab of meatloaf between slices of fresh white bread, coated in brown gravy, with a side of mashed potatoes. Good old-fashioned comfort food. Another friend ordered the Speedway Burger, obviously named for the nearby racing venue, Holland's main claim to fame. Quite an edifice, this burger. Char-broiled patty topped with onion rings, melted provolone, lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce. We're generally not beer drinkers, but it looks like they have a pretty extensive selection on tap. Wines are the usual limited selection for a place like this, but we're fine with those. Service was good. Surroundings are as far from modern as you can get, but comfortable enough, and with plenty of character. read more

Two words... French dip!! They have the best around. They give you a large portion of fries too. We have tried many things here and have never been disappointed. Great burgers. Good pizza. Chicken fingers very good. The wings are amazing! Get them wood fired!! Service is always great! Amanda is the best!! The mixed drinks are meh...they could pep up their cocktail menu for sure. Ended up at the holland hotel after a nearby establishment seated me and never checked in on me. The wine was very reasonably priced, and the food was good! As a person who loves the small town of Holland, raised a family here and moved back here, it saddens me to write this. The Holland Hotel has been iconic throughout the years in our little town. The change in ownership has had its ups and downs and I have tried to give it the benefit of that. However, last night a small group of ladies, including myself were treated with utter disrespect and rudeness from the bartender, Desiree. She appeared unhappy to be in her position the moment we walked in and asked for service. She began shutting down the facility with a bar full of laughter and good people. She began to attack my friend and caused a scene over her being too tired. This makes me so sad to have witnessed such a display at a place that I have always had fond memories. After 40 years as a holland resident, I've witnessed the shocking decline of the Holland hotel under this new management. Recently, my daughter--an Iraq and Guantánamo Bay veteran --was refused service by Shawn. This was simply because she was with her sister who his boss, Desiree, has blacklisted due to personal issues with her. When her sister attempted to address these unprofessional behaviors with manager Meghan, she refused to discuss the situation in person or return her phone calls. A business that creates arbitrary bans based on personal grudges while serving mediocre food has no place in our community. We stayed at the hotel for 1 week from 10-26-24 until 11-1-24 we absolutley loved it! We are from California and have never been welcomed as much as people from holland New York has welcomed us. We have met and made friends for life . The hotel itself is wonderful nice and clean and beds are super comfortable. The bar is great as are the bartenders and food was great we ate there daily the meatloaf ( so good). Sean one of the bartenders is a wonderful person and also has a antique store within walking distance a must see while in holland we bought some marbles from 1800s from him because we didn't have much room in our suitcases or we would have purchased more. Never been here before so tried it out. Really liked the interior of the place & we were seated quickly. Checked over the menu & made our choices. Maybe the waitress was new but asked if instead of the regular Rueben if it could be made with turkey. Without checking said no. Went with the hot turkey dinner. Was disappointed to see the turkey was deli sliced turkey cold cuts not what was expected. Made the question of having a turkey Reuben that much more possible. Asked for a bottle of water since one at our table wasn't feeling well, waitress said sure! Never brought it. We won't be back. read more

We chose to come here to watch a Bills game after we were told how good it was and they were still allowed to have indoor dining. We chose to sit at the bar and even though they had told me they do not take reservations, there were reserved signs next to us. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks and fried pickles to start. The pickles were generic brand spears and they came with ranch for dipping. They did have a decent draught beer menu, as well as plenty of bottled beer/drinks and fully stocked bar. We ordered their Margherita pizza and asked to add meatballs, which was on their list of toppings. However, they did not have them, so we went without. We also ordered 10 wings, hot and wood fired. The food was just awful, the pizza had a crust that tasted store bought and thin, there was very little mozzarella, and dried basil instead of fresh. The wings looked good, but they were so salty, it was like you were eating a handful of salt. We were very disappointed in the food, and the only reason they are getting two stars instead of one is because of the good service we received. If we go back, it will only be for drinks, we would not recommend the food, at least not pizza and wings! read more

My Husband and I have driven by the Holland Hotel at least 50 times on the way up to our cabin. I always say we should stop there. So we stayed the night for my 64 birthday and boy did I have fun. We booked a suite for a very reasonable price. I wasn't expecting much. I figure the rooms would used by hunters. But I was wrong. They were beautiful. Large, Clean and comfortable and the bed was a king size. There was 2 wide screens TVs (one for each room) Needless to say I was happy. We headed downstairs for my dinner. While the menu is not extensive it had some interesting choices. I had gone on Yelp before we came to give me some guidance. I started out with the French Onion Soup. DELISH! I make really good French Onion soup so I have pretty high standards. It was not salty and the broth was hearty. The cheese was melted nice. There was not too many onions. Next we spilt the Shrimp cocktail because I cannot resist shrimp cocktails (and it was my birthday) It was good. The shrimps were large and the cocktail sauce was homemade. I had the special wood fired calzone with homemade ricotta. A good choice it was done to perfection. The fact that the ricotta was homemade really made a difference and the Marinara sauce was really good with a touch of spice. My husband really liked the Caesar Salad which we spilt. We went here for my boyfriend's sister birthday. The first thing I noticed on their menu is their special, they have asain beef vegetable soup. Hmmm... I wonder if they meant ASIAN. When the server came and told us about the menu, sure enough they meant Asian lol. I don't trust the taste the food if they cannot even do correct spelling! That to me a bit ignorant! (Btw I'm Asian) Well my bf decided to ordered it anyway. When the soup came it look like an dark oil motor. He still hopeful... in a really short lived hopeful when he spooned the soup and get the overly cooked broccoli, hardly recognized broccoli. Cremated broccoli. I ended up tried it, it was as horrible as the spelling. The sesame oil was overwhelming, beef chewy, broccoli dying... enough said. For his meal he ordered taco and not too great either. I ordered nacho salmon which surprisingly good. After the soup I'm skeptical with the main course but mine ended up good. I ate half and actually took the leftover home. The salmon even though in bit pieces was not over cooked, good flavor and the chips also has flavor on it. If I only based on soup I will give 1 star. The nacho save the day! I just don't get it, with the issues that restaurants are having today, where as they can't provide good service (Due to lack of help) coupled with supply issues, why would you have such a extensive menu. Joe public understands that current times are different from 2 years ago. The Holland Hotel is a classic example of not understanding. I took my nephew to dinner and was first told by the hostess that they couldn't give us a regular dinner menu due to they didn't have enough, not a good start. After being seated, we realized by moving to the bar to sit would be a better idea as far as getting our order in. The small plate shrimp with garlic was very bland, after eating one I noticed that they were NOT devainded & stopped eating them. The mozzarella sticks were not available, so we decide on an order for fried pickles. The fried pickles were so heavily salted, that they were unbeatable. My nephew did enjoy the wings he order which was a plus. I have to say the beer list sucks, why a better variety can't be served is beyond me. Having the same beer on tap & in bottles is a waste!!! Would highly recommend. Found this place just out for a drive to see foliage. Atmosphere is really cool. Started with cup of manhattan clam chowder. Very tasty and loaded with clams. I had the Holland hotel burger and it was fabulous. Cooked just right at medium. My companion had the Philly steak hoagie and it was made with real steak! Reasonably priced and good service. I have came to this place multiple times, typically just the bar as I have had not the greatest food experience. BUT I keep going back hoping it will change. Tonight was my last straw. We waited 50 min for our soup and salad to come out, then we had to send back our soup 3 times because it was cold each time. Then was given brand new soup that tasted like dirty soup. Chicken finger sub (pretty easy) came out cold no taste, wrong kind of cheese. Beef on wick was cold. Had to go to to bar and get our own drinks yet there wasn't any other customers eating. When we were told they were going to take off our soups off the bill we said ok, yet the bill came and still had the soups on it. Had the owner and bar manager swearing in front of kids. The food is actually very good, as well as being served quickly (kudos to the kitchen staff). That Asian bartender however is abysmal. She was either on her phone or talking to coworkers constantly. Second time ever coming in here. The first experience i had was awesome. The food was good and i even remembered the bartenders name, Dakota! it was such good service. Second and last time around wasn't too hot. Weren't even greeted by an employee as we sat at the bar. She just firmly asked for ID. Felt so UNSAFE, NO Covid precautions taken. We usually LOVE this place. The food is always great and it's such a good vibe. However, we were highly disappointed at the lack of handling mandatory covid precautions. We sat on the patio at a table with proper distancing and the server greeted us with a mask so we felt safe and comfortable ordering. Once our orders were in, the server kept returning to the table with either no mask at all or a mask around her neck. The male server attending to other tables had no mask at all. Signs were posted that customers must wear masks when not at tables but people were coming in and out of the building and bathroom facilities with no mask-nothing was enforced. This was highly disappointing and inappropriate to mandatory health regulations. It's not that hard to wear a mask to protect the safety of patrons, let alone to follow the law and covid regulations. Many restaurants are struggling financially bc they are not able to open since they do not have patio seating, and this was extremely irresponsible. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday evening. Including us, there were three tables in the dining room. The waitress, while very pleasant, seemed overwhelmed. It took a bit to get our order in; perhaps 12+ minutes. Our drinks came efficiently and the food came out surprisingly fast. The food was good. Wood-Fired mac and cheese, a Reuben, a Rachel, a burger, twice baked potato & chicken tenders serve to us by a very eager to please kitchen cook. While we were there, another couple came in for dining room seating. Again, apologies were made and the bartender actually had to seat this couple. A few minutes later a second waitress came on the scene. She seemed apologetic also. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. I just wonder why they felt so overwhelmed when the volume of diners did not warrant a need for panic. This is a lovely place and should be very successful. We will go back.
