No need to decide which doctor to see as with most practices, both of the doctors are equally yoked and Fred off each other it seems. 2 months ago The following is my husband and I's experience with the optical/reception part of the Dr.'s office Since my husband was the only one that received his eye exam because we were booked for 2 seperate days. "My experience was both great and then awful. The doctor was great. He was polite, very professional and beyond thorough with his explanations. The technician was great as well. That's where the great part ends. After the exam I was taken to a store with all outdated "designer" frames. As soon I said I was not buying my glasses on the spot the lady helping me changed her tone and was rude from that moment on. The other receptionist was complaining to coworkers and then asked me rudely about my wife's appointment. An hour later they called my wife and told her that if she or my daughter were not planning on buying glasses from them that we would lose their appointment and be put on a waitlist. This was both rude and extremely unprofessional. Great doctor but lousy staff with an attitude problem. Sadly neither I nor my family will return." As far as my own review i completely concur with my husband on the reception staff. They were exceptionally rude and unprofessional. After my husband told them he was going to wait on picking glasses after my appointment they had the nerve to call me and give me some bs lie that we had to buy glasses from them or we would have to cancel our appointment or be put on a wait list and get this!, because "due to COVID-19 many people were losing their insurance so they had to put priority to patients that were going to actually buy frames." . Now they had no idea if we were going to buy glasses or not, they just assumed and were extremely rude about it. Since my husband and I's experience I've heard from many other customers that have gone through the same ordeal with them. Honestly it amazes me that they have a 4 star review. Again the Dr. was great according to my husband and other people I've spoken to but maybe he should take a look at all the reviews and see how much damage his reception staff actually does to his business and consider an overhaul to nicer and more professional employees. read more

If I could give it a negative or "0" rating I would. Dr. Mauri is amazing and makes you feel so comfortable. He is very pleasant and seems to be very knowledgeable in his practice. BUT that office staff has NO PROFESSIONALISM whatsoever, they're scammers, thieves, liars, and on top of all these faults they are condescending, disgustingly rude and unethical when it comes to doing their jobs. In May 2020, I was desperate for glasses, and so I basically bought a pair and the lady that helped me tells me I will throw in the lenses for free, just pay for the frame. I go back in December and find out that my insurance plan gives you a $180 credit on frames, which was never offered to me back in May. I asked them why wasn't I offered that back in May ? All I got was "uh uh" -So then I asked them if they could give me "some credit" for my purchases now and the woman in charge, tells me that she will ask the doctor, but that right now he was busy? Not, she didn't even try. 3 weeks later they tell me my lenses are there but not my contacts. So I asked them if they could please let me know when my contact lenses got there so I only have to make one trip? "Yes I will call you, they should have been here, let me find out what is going on and I will call you back". TODAY, 4 weeks after that conversation, I call and the one who answered the phone has to be the worst of them all- No cuthe whatsoever! Condescending to say the least- the office staff screws up and she makes you feel like you are the incompetent one. No humility, no apologies, NOTHING. I sware I am not being paranoid, but this POS slammed her phone to hang up. Dr. Mauri seriously needs to hire new personal or train these women in customer service. Maybe less personal conversations about your personal life and more focus on the patients. God only knows how many other customers these scammers have stolen from or how many have been treated like this. I seriously hope that anyone considering this office take into account everything I have written here. read more

This review is solely for my the eyewear "store" section. As mentioned in my last review, my family and I have been coming to Dr Mauri's office for over 30 years. I am inclined to write a separate review for the eyewear "store" because I don't think it's fair to rate him and the store in the same review. For the last 4 visits I have made (basically the last 8 years), I have encountered very pushy service from the staff here. To the point where I started bringing my own frames. Once they realize I have done that, the service level and their attitude changes. It's night and day. They go from being polite and "waiving" fees to giving attitude and nickel and diming for everything. It's to the point where I am over it. I left this weekend out of frustration. After they saw I brought my own frames, and was questioning some fees and decided to leave, they added a $60 fee (previously waived) for a contact lenses exam. I haven't worn contact lenses in over 20 years. As I left the exam room, the doctor offered me some free samples to see if they worked for me. Then because I wasn't going to get anything done there (lens wise), the $60 appears. Very tacky. I had it removed because that was a joke and honestly I was offended. I highly recommend Dr Mauri, but grab your prescription and go somewhere else. Just do yourself a favor and bypass that section altogether. But again, I cannot stress enough how the doctor is worth the visit. read more

I can't say enough about how hard it is to find doctors who are sensitive and patient with children. The entire staff and doctors make sure that not only are my children comfortable while taking an eye exam, but that they feel special and enjoy the entire process of buying glasses. Even after switching insurance companies, I continue to choose to pay out-of-pocket to stay with them because my kids are so happy there compared to the previous doctor that they went to. The opticians are very knowledgeable and always help us with selecting the perfect type of frames for her prescription. Excellent visit with Dr. Moran. First time at this optometrist office. Dr. Moran was knowledgable, thorough, answered all my questions, and described in detail my options. The assistant was professional in selecting eyeglass frames, she was not pushy, and suggested a range of frames in different prices. My older brother was diagnosed with Keratoconus in his early teens. He eventually had a corneal transplant done on the one eye that was most aggressively being attacked by the disease. The transplant was performed over 20 years ago and he's been a patient of Dr. Mauri ever since. I'm 38 years old and a little over 10 years ago I too was diagnosed with Keratoconus. My uncorrected vision at the time was at a 20/400. My brother naturally referred Dr. Mauri to me, and thank God he did! It's been a process over the past 10 years to get my vision to where it is today. Throughout the years I've used several different rigid gas permeable lenses and eyes glasses than I care to remember. Dr. Mauri and his team of professionals within his practice have helped me so much along this journey to improved vision. I feel that their expert knowledge on how to better combat and treat my disease is greatly attributed to their ability at staying on top of new cutting edge and ever changing technology. Together, Dr. Mauri and Dr. Moran are a uniquely progressive and innovative team. I've been treated and seen by other eye professionals and I can truly say that none have been able to do the work and wonders that Dr. Mauri has done for me. Earlier this year Dr. Mauri introduced me to custom fit scleral lenses. These new lenses have improved my quality of life, both personally and professionally. I now see at a 20/15 with no discomfort or distortions. These lenses are comfortable and I can practically wear them all day. I am now seeing objects with much more clarity and definition. Colors and details pop out to me in ways I hadn't remembered ever seeing them. I'd give Dr. Mauri and his professional team a "10 STAR" if I could. Truly priceless!!! read more

I called to schedule a very short notice appt and was very pleased that I was accommodated to see the doctor the following day. I usually see Dr.Mauri but it was his day off and I completely understood since it was short notice. My visit with Dr.Moran was simply amazing. Dr. Moran is incredible. He was extremely informative, thorough, and very calming; he answered all my questions and gave me some great tips. Dr.Moran's techs were very nice, as well. I called ahead of time to ask about a set of glasses. Stopped by the office around 1240pm to which the blonde short haired girl in the front said they were going to be closed from 1-2pm for lunch in a very rude attitude. I explained how I would need to be at work at that time. She rolled her eyes at me twice and said I could come in and browse around. I went inside, nobody helped me out at all or asked if I had questions. None of the frames had prices on them either. It was not a good experience. This girl was very rude to me and I did not feel like I wanted to purchase anything there. Also, I think that instead of closing down for a full hour, they should have someone to be able to assist people. I work in customer service, and we are all about customers. If I need to postpone my lunch or take a 10 min break instead, I do if it means better service for my customer. Sad to say the least. read more

I am a 37 year old man that's been diagnosed with Keratoconus at the age of 11-12 years. From that point on my vision and life for that matter has been governed by an array of glasses with progressive lenses, soft toric lenses, rigid gas permeable contact lenses and more optometrists in the Miami area then I can remember. Some of these eye Dr.s have even told me flat out "there really is not much more I can do for you" All of that came to an end when a coworker a few years ago referred me to Dr. Moran and Mauri. From the moment I set foot inside their clinic I was in awe by the level of professionalism and courtesy from the staff and general setting. Through the years I have been meticulously and thoroughly evaluated with regards to my vision and condition. Recently Dr. Mauri took on the challenge of fitting me with a set of custom scleral lenses to correct my vision to a near perfect 20/20 on both eyes. Folks, this is by no means an easy task. It takes multiple visits, extremely detailed evaluations, and an unimaginable level of patience and expertise in the field to get the fitting just right. In conclusion I can tell you with all honesty that Dr's Moran and Mauri are true masters of their craft. I've been a patient of Dr. Mauri going on 10 years now. I've since relocated and moved to SW Florida, however I refuse to put my trust and confidence to any other specialists then Dr. Mauri. read more

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Mauri's and his work is exceptional. I definitely am part of the 20/20 vision club after picking up my glasses from there! That is not, though, why I am writing this review. In the last couple of years, I have encountered this new young lady. She says her name is Dany, like a boy. Although sortof nice the first time I met her, I have concluded that she is beyond distasteful! From disturbing belching to inappropriate language... I just cannot stand the sight of her, just really unprofessional. She has done quite a mess of mistakes on some of my needs and I just generally make sure to get someone else to help me. The one star review below is such garbage. Don't listen to her. This eye center has the best staff and doctors I have ever had. My parents and my sister have been visiting Dr. Moran and Dr. Mauri for decades and they are incredibly professional, insightful, gentle, and extremely capable. I visited them for regular check ups, updates on my prescription and for glasses, but the two times I visited with an emergency they saw me immediately and resolved the problem quickly. I seriously rave about this eye center to anyone who will listen because they truly make the experience of visiting a medical facility into something peaceful not terrifying. And the office staff is kind and follow up promptly for appointments. Really - give them a chance and you'll never visit another eye center. However, unlike the poster below, don't just show up unannounced. They do close for lunch but that's why it's smart to call ahead of time not just for this place, but anywhere you go. The front office and the showroom assistants are unprofessional , rude, and overall horrible, specifically Carmen. They bring down the value of the office completely. I didn't want to purchase glasses immediately, she added fees that I have never seen at any other doctor's office. She didn't do her due diligence to have my visit covered by my insurance. I had to make a claim afterwards and was reimbursed. She claims they didn't measure me for glasses when I came back for my prescription. I know they did because the day of my first visit I was close to buying glasses! Now it feels like she is holding my prescription for ransom because I do not want to purchase contacts or anything from them. I initially liked the service because Dr. Mauri and the assistant, I want to say her name is Denise, are great. The frustrating feeling after talking to them via phone or in person is overwhelming and makes you want to never come back or recommend the office to anyone.
