Avoid this chop shop. They do not stand by their service at all. I asked for a simple dry cleaning of a few dress shirts and this could not be achieved. When I picked up I expressed my disappointment at how the shirts looked and was told they were just washed and not dry cleaned...they weren't even ironed. The owner told me that if I wanted them dry cleaned it would be another $3 more than I paid and I would have to pay the full amount all over again. I explained that was what I wanted in the first place since these shirts were DRY CLEAN ONLY. He then told me I can pay again for them to 'try dry cleaning them'. I'm sorry, but after you charge me once and expect me to pay double a second time for them to 'try'...this isn't how service works. I asked for my money back and he told me to get out of the store and walked away. Customer service at its best! read more

The clean, tidy lobby and tidy work spaces give a favorable preview of what you can expect here. Those dingy old dry cleaners with abused ancient tile and cluttered back areas always give me pause. The other thing they've got going for them is generous evening and weekend hours. Even after a long commute home from the suburbs, I can drop off something after work and then pick it up on Saturday or Sunday afternoon whenever I have a few minutes free. They are open 7pm during the week, but I don't recall the weekend closing times. Anyway, I am happier to use a cleaner close to home which affords me more flexibility. Another nice bonus is the computerized ticketing system, which gives me some peace of mind about how organized and efficient they are. I've been to a cleaners where the lack of reliable ticketing has bitten me in the kiester. These folks rescued a favorite pair of medium-grey suit pants that I was ready to write off. They erased a candle wax stain and about 60% of a rust stain, to the point that I feel that I can wear the pants again. The rust stain is not visible under most circumstances, so I'm happy. I dropped some clothes off just before the pandemic hit, and when the city shut down, I completely forgot to pick them up. Mint Cleaners is a welcome new addition to this stretch of Lawrence that has been picking up ever since the addition of the Mariano's, which works for me since it's around the corner from my place. After issues with the other cleaners we were using in the area, I was happy when they opened. So far, I've only brought a couple things in (the only reason I hold back 1 star) everything we have taken in has been cleaned or pressed just as requested, in a quick time frame. My fiance took in a number of suits and came home extremely pleased with how much cheaper it was than the other cleaners as well. So, better service and costs less? They won us over What's more is this cute little shop is run by very friendly people and it's much nicer/cleaner to step into than any dry cleaners I've ever seen. It's so bright and cheery, you would almost expect it to be a gift shop or something. This is our new cleaners and I recommend it to all my neighbors read more

Avoid this place like the plague. I was excited for a cleaners that was close to my home, and the graphic design & interior of the place made me think it would be great, as others have noted. But oh, was I wrong. Give me a dingy lobby any day over this place. On one occasion, the clothes I had dropped off were returned to me without being cleaned (same wrinkles, same spots of dirt, all with the little colored tags still marking up the garment) but WITH the addition of dog hair covering the front of two pairs of pants and a dress. Since I don't own a dog, this was confusing. On another (fool me once, I know) occasion, after confirming that the clothes being dropped off on a Wednesday morning would be ready for a Friday AM pickup, the female employee at the front told me the clothes would not be ready until Monday morning. After explaining the shirts in the order were needed for a wedding party taking place the following day out of town, she said snidely, "Don't you have another shirt?" and offered no solution. After an extended conversation, she reluctantly agreed to call the third party who handles men's shirts to see if he could drop it off later in the day, but warned that she can't make promises about when someone else will drop off their delivery. And as the bad-experience-icing-on-the-cake, she charged me FULL PRICE for the order, including the shirts. This place is awful. Stay away! read more

Okay... I never thought I'd become one of those people who only hangs out in their neighborhood because I'm usually all over the place (suburbs, city, allllll over~) but Ravenswood has spoiled me by providing me with all my necessities within walking distance. Mariano's, gym, 2 wonderful coffee shops, 2 great breakfast places... and now... a wonderful cleaners with the cutest interior to boot! So the place is called Mint Cleaners and the interior matches! It is so friggin' adorable I feel like I am stepping into a 1950's laundry room where I should be donning a poofy dress while ironing my husband's shirt (ha!) Anyways, you get the idea, it's all mint green and retro-y inside so very visually pleasing. That being said, I've had a good variety of things cleaned there so far and it was done without a problem but then again I've never had a problem with getting any of my clothes cleaned at any regular cleaners (only when I was using those discount cleaners, which I do not do anymore). I've also had a quite a few pants hemmed and the owner Grace does a fantastic job even with difficult silky materials. Anyways, if this is in your neighborhood, I highly recommend it because I have tried all the others in the neighborhood (I actually live across the street from another one) but they are not very friendly at all and I am just not into spending my money at a place where they don't appreciate my business. Oh and the prices are really good here too... very competitive pricing. read more

Grace, one of the owners, was kind enough to properly fold my shirts so they would fit in to my suitcase before a trip! I decided to check this place out after a few positive reviews, and boy, am I glad I did! I brought in multiple kinds of garments: blouses, jackets, dresses, vests, skits, and EVERYTHING looks fantastic. I've been to a lot of cleaners, but you can tell Mint took the extra care and attention to make sure all my requests were made(spot cleaning, etc.) I'm really picky with the care of my clothing, so I'm thrilled to have a new place to come to in my neighborhood. Nice place clean and the people are very nice, but I think they're pretty expensive. I'll admit that I was annoyed when I had to pay for the cleaning of some pants when they didn't get the spots out, but hey, they did do the work. Today I picked up a dress that I had hemmed. It was a simple, single layer dress. No pleats. Nothing fancy, just hemming it by a few inches. $30 for that hemming job! It wasn't even a fancy dress, so that nearly doubled to cost of the dress. I wish I could give a higher rating, but I just can't. read more

Mint Cleaners is conveniently located on the same stretch of Lawrence as the Mariano's, and a big plus is that I'm able to walk there. It has a welcoming and refreshing look, nice and bright. The staff is very friendly and they let us bring our dog in while we're walking and doing errands. For standard dry cleaning with nothing fancy needed, they do a great job. I'm giving 4 stars because I've taken a few garments there with simple stains and they haven't been completely successful at removing them. On the other hand, I took a garment to another dry cleaner once after I had sat in tar while wearing a very expensive pair of jeans, and this cleaner was able to completely remove that mess. No trace at all. I also had to have a dress washed twice at Mint because the colors bled a bit. read more

The prices were great (I know there were posts about it being expensive, but I believe they were very reasonable and lower than I would expect for Chicago.) and when I asked for a quicker turnaround, they happily complied. I love this place! I've been dropping my clothes here regularly for almost 2 years. What I love about this cleaners is that the shop is so neat and tidy! It's extremely clean when you walk in and I appreciate that. Prices for cleaning might be a teeny bit on the high side, but you get what you pay for and this place is worth it! The owners are awesome and so sweet! They do a great job with my clothes and the alterations I've had done are top notch (and the alterations price is right on!) I would definitely recommend Mint to anyone in the Ravenswood area. Bonus because they are dog friendly! read more

I was really excited to have a dry cleaners near by within walking distance of my home. Their prices are definitely more than what I'm used to, but tried it a few times for convenience sake. To dry clean a blanket, its $10 cheaper a few blocks west where I've been going for 15 years, so I did that instead. Today I got back a white Club Monaco dress shirt I had dropped off a few days ago and there were actually more spots on it than when I originally dropped it off on Saturday. I was told by the owners' daughter that those spots were indeed there previously, even though she was the one who took my clothes from my on Saturday and placed markers on all the spots (these were not marked, because they were not there). So basically, I was initially charged for the cleaning of this shirt, which looked worse than when I brought it in and when I first asked for a refund, she looked at my like I was from outer space and said she had never heard of dry cleaners adding spots to clothing. I told her that I have experienced it once before, so am surprised that she thought it was impossible to happen and implied that I was making up that the spots were not previously there. She then said they were makeup spots. I don't even wear foundation. She ended up refunding me for the shirt and told me in so many words to never come back. So, great customer service all around! I will be going back to Forest Cleaners on Lincoln where they have never in the past 15 years, added spots to a single item of my clothing. But I bet if they did, theyd' be a whole lot nicer and more apologetic about it. read more
